Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila Review

Was expecting some really awesome service, food and amenities as I did the last time I was here some years back. Food and service didn't disappoint, specially the breakfast buffet! Awesomely good and the variety was great.

Room was a bit "ordinary" and did not have that elegant or 5-star appeal, although perhaps I was lodged in the "old" or rundown wing.

But was also unpleasantly surprised to learn that I would be charged an amount if I just borrow a plate to use in my room. I had something to eat which I bought outside, and the fee was even more expensive than the food I was going to partake! First time I experienced this in all my years of travels and hotels I used -- be they inns, pensions, boutiques or 5-6-star -- around the world!!

And since you are a French entity, might be consistent to also have a "bidet" in the toilet. Asians in particular would appreciate this very much.

Appreciated the kindness and flexibility of the duty manager at the time of my check-out who allowed me a modest additional time.

Lovely place to be at. We had lots company events here and the food is also great. The pool area provide nice view of the Manila bay while the ambiance, overall, was classy.

It's 5-star accolade is truly of worth. Function rooms, normal rooms, and whatnot are quite great. A hotel worth recommending.

Clean, tidy and cosy. Very approachable staff, one of a kind. The rooms are quite spacious, and the view from the balcony is nice.

I was just hoping to book a hotel room that has a full view of manila bay. Although Ive initially mentioned that I want a room close to elevators since my mom is old. BUt I also said to prioritize the room with full view of manila bay.

Other than that, it was very nice.

The best. It had so much stalls that sell good food like chocolate croissants (which I loved). And the buffet literally made me lost it was so big and I'm not joking, it is THE best buffet I have ever been to. It's not ONE OF the best, it IS the best. The rooms were amazing, the waiters were well dressed and the pool was great. I loved how you can walk in the beach and I mostly spend my time outside the hotel. When I'm done for the day I go back to my room. I know I'm saying that there is a lot of food in the buffet but they didn't just throw in food to make it look a lot and great, they actually made every food there really good (the cookies were the best, and the chocolate fountain). In my opinion, it is worth my money. If I were to choose a hotel to stay in Manila, I would choose to stay in Sofitel.

The service was very good the rooms very nice, but billing needs to be looked at my address is wrong

The pool is dirty, but the restaurant is nice and nice. There is also an amusement park next to the pool.
I've changed. I want a lot of food.
I don't know what time it will be. People are nice and good.

Wonderful as always. A pleasure staying here. The nicest hotel I've ever been to.

the hotel taxi is 5 times more expensive than a regular cab with meter.
In the he weekends the club floor is so crowded , that the advantage and standing of a "club" floor is gone. disapointing!

Amazing sunset view with a fun pool area. Rooms are modern nothing special. Great staff throughout the massive hotel complex with plenty to do spa/fitness/shops/restaurants etc

The staff was very cordial and friendly; helpful in providing information and responded on time to our requests.

Staff was unapologetic when we expressed how disappointed we were that they did not disclose that the kiddie pool was not functional the day we booked.

Superb hotel. Nice view and rooms. Plus just close to us.

Gorgeous beach, gorgeous service. Hotel is beautifully kept and the staff are the quintessential ambassadors of perfect customer service. The surroundings are picturesque to say the least and the sunsets are unparalleled. Large pool with plenty of space. Lots of spots to curl up with a book or just watch the day go by. Rooms are spacious and spotless. Definitely have a bite at Spiral. It's the best buffet in Asia, and one of the top restaurants in the world. You'll be amazed at the spread. The cheese buffet is actually it's own contained room!!!

This hotel is very convenient to live in, but also has its own private pool, beach, very comfortable, very comfortable, and suitable for events, the hotel ballroom is also very good. Our company has held events and I like this place very much. The price is a bit expensive.

The buffet place called Spiral is much bigger & even more diversified than that of other restos I've visited (especially Fresh at Solaire) with int'l flavor aside from Filipino food as well as various cheeses in a large glass casing.

Amazing Hotel with Amazing Staff! We stayed here for 3 nights in November 2017. The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever been to, with a huge variety of food each area with it's own style ie- French, Western, Asian, etc. they even have a separate room for cheese...just cheese. However, one of our favourite places to hang out was on the 10th floor in their lounge and up there we had the pleasure of meeting Lester, who was absolutely phenomenal. The most attentive and courteous server by far. One of the best hotel experiences I've had. Great job everyone!

It is just lovely here. People who are on a business trip or conference must try the Spiral buffet or the chocolates being made and sold at the Galette.

We booked on Agoda, and were offered an upgrade rate to a room with club access and breakfast buffet included. This was a good deal, and I felt satisfied with this. Upon arriving in our room, the noise from the event space next to the hotel was so overwhelming that we had to ask for a new room. I actually couldn't stand to be in the room given the noise, so went to the front desk instead of waiting for a resolution. After some time, we were moved. The person who helped me told me that there are events like this every weekend, and that around 1,000 people were attending this weekend's event. We were satisfied with the new room, but this was about an hour of our time wasted of our stay. The pool was overwhelmingly crowded with families, and it is clear that Sofitel needs a separate adults' pool or much more space for those of us who want to relax. At 11pm, it was impossible to find a lounge chair open for my husband and I, or anything else shaded from the sun. Although our stay was satisfactory - in particular the room service experience - I would not return again because the pool is overwhelmingly geared towards families with children and there was nowhere to sit.

The check in was very smooth. My name was printed on the welcome lady's note so that they knew my arrival. And the pool is very nice. It faces the west so it is more spectecular in the evening. The next day, I did some work out at the gym. A trainer, Paul, invited me to have a training session with him. The training was so effective. And Paul is very encouraging and friendly.

The experience is worth every peso that I have spent, although I was surprised with an extra charge in which the receptionist did not clearly explain to me. Anyway it was worth it.

Must try dining in at Spiral, one of the best buffets in Manila. Lots of international food choices. Get ready to wait in line for this place.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sofitel, especially thanks to Alma who is working at Spiral. She did a great job. Housekeepers also did good job.

This is one of the best hotels we have been. If you want to have a staycation with your family. This is a great choice. I love watching the sunset and the outdoor ambience . You kids will enjoy the pool and lavish yourself with the food at Spiral buffet. Thumbs up!

Love the classic feel.. the old charm that makes it like a real hotel. Staff at the door are not that very welcoming to entering guests though, hit and miss. Inconsistent hospitality.

My favorite hotel in Manila. Something calms down. This time is the club floor. It would be nice to have food and drinks available at all times. The pool is still good. The changing room was also renewed neatly. Convenience store and restaurant are made next, and convenience is slightly improved. Familiarity is horrible and there are so many different types of breakfast buffet, but I got tired of going there many times. I expect some new excitement next time.

Amenities are OK esp the pool, no other pools of other hotels compares to it; the gym - complete equipment, the spa and restaurant.

The staff lack more warmth in dealing with the guests, though.

I was there because of a convention in a nearby place so it was quite busy. There were lots of people and on several occassions some of the elevators didn't work. The bellboys were accommodating and efficient despite the number of guests arriving at the same time. I just got comfortable in the place when I was in the room already. The bed and sheets were comfortable so I did have a goodnight sleep.

The swimming pool area at the back is beautiful for picture-taking. Rooms are nice and dinner at Spiral, though extremely expensive, covers a variety of food from around the world. There are more picture-taking opportunities at the spiral staircase in the middle.

Visited Spiral. Food was nice, way better than other buffets in manila, the price is steep but the customer service of the restaurant was top notch and went above and beyond to serve my family

One disadvantage? The staff are talking in the hallway It seems like there is a lounge here and continue to go back and forth

Luxurious. Friendly staff. Fabulous facilities & excellent breakfast.

I have always enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel Manila and use it as standard when I stay at other hotels. From the time you are greeted warmly when you enter the lobby to the front desk staff who checked us in and the way that we are ushered into our room. It is like being welcomed into your own home. We stayed at the Prestige Suite which was really spacious and luxurious. Of course, you never fail to serve us the complimentary fruits/cookies in our room which are really appreciated. I would also like to commend Ella who served us at the Lounge and the chef who prepared our laksa. It was the first time I tasted laksa at the Lounge and was told that it was only served on Fridays. We were fortunate that it was available on that Saturday morning. Really good food, comparable to those I've tasted in Singapore.

This is also the first time that I attended an Accor event 'Master Chefs on the Grill'. That was also quite impressive, quite an experience and will check out future events.

We will always be coming back to this place. Thank you Sofitel. You help us make memories.

The room had a great view overlooking the bay and the city. The hotel offered multiple places to drink and dine, and the staff were always very helpful.

Buffet is a killer! You will ran out of stomach space before you try all the foods. Very pricey buffet!

Sofitel has always been one of the better if not the best hotels in Manila. Unlike other hotels, I find their food actually delicious.

Staying in a five star hotel is a haven to relax from hectic schedules, but it was not what i got from Sofitel hotel. I stayed on july 30 to make use of my free overnight stay with my accor plus card. It was my first and only time to use my card. My request for the two separate beds was not granted because they gave me single bed. I was transfered to a room which has a king size bed, but the bath room is really dated. Came early morning as we were awake with a pounding sound. I ask the bellboy where it is coming and he said that there was a construction on going atthe lower floor. I ask the bell boy to tell the workers to stop, which they did for 30minutes and the banging and pounding resume. I complained His matter to the front deskand and to no wvwil. They ask me if i was notified at all, obviously am not aware of it. As usual this complains as just going down the drain.

Wow. Instead of me having agreat time to celebrate my birthday and a time to rejuvenate it was the opposite thing that happen.

I will never stayin this out dated hotel anymore. Very very dissappointed.

Still one of the best buffets out there. Don't forget to hit the cheese room while you are at it. The pool and facilities get really busy on weekends though, so its good to time your visits well.

It was an excellent stay again, as always. The new facilities at the pool area is really a welcome addition, most especially to the kids. I just hope that whenever it rains, your staff should cover the cushions (located near the water barrier) with plastic to avoid getting wet.

I love the place as well as the All You Can Eat food. It's worth the price!

Stayed for 3 nights. As a Sofitel lover all over the world this has definitely been a disappointing experience. Room had bugs in the coffee machine, noisy dripping aircon that resulted in a very damp room with moist sheets and towels. Club lounge food had foil hidden in cake and breakfast soup had hair. Staff was nice enough but the hotel definitely has a management issue.

Manila's best non-fancy hotel pool, breakfast, and facilities are all there for you at this price.
Facilities of hotel are slightly old and there is antique one.
From the exterior to the guest rooms, this is not a modern hotel, but the old-fashioned, quiet force of this hotel, which is felt in the past years, does not go anywhere.
Because the location is Manila only, the view of the Manila sea at sunset from the balcony of the Seaview room is very beautiful.
Of course, if you get close to it, it stinks ...
I have visited about 7 times and felt that there is no place for a family trip in Manila.
The location is good and the security is very stable and above all, the hotel pool is the best in Manila.
The pool bar is delicious and inexpensive, and there is a rattan day bed in the center besides the sunbeds. Of course, it is free.
The rooms were of a good size and clean and I liked the bathrooms.
All rooms are balcony type, so after the swimming, the laundry is good and air is good.
The two most famous of this hotel are the swimming pool ... and the spiral buffet.
Breakfast is excellent and is very good.
There are many menus and country sections are also good.
Bakery fruit vegetable dessert There is nothing missing.
I usually stay at 120,000 won per night.
Let's visit it. Let's go twice.
