WOW. I would like to say that I have been shopping at SWS for over 15 years and the new store location and staff are top shelf. If you want expert service and awesome customer service look no further. There is no competition like it. Not to mention the friendly and personable staff who are exceptionally well educated btw: and a computer bench help desk for customers that is by far their best attribute. If there is a cable or component made in the known universe... this store will have it, and at a good price. Yes, people there is an internet where you can get just about anything but when you add up the frustration of not being able to actually get a living, breathing human being with a high level of competence to help you and takes the time to show you how works, Well then go surf to your hearts content. As far as I'm concerned I value the added assurance that their inventory has been tested and it is from a reliable competent supplier that actually honor their warranty.. Well lets just say I WILL ONLY SHOP at this locally owned and operated computer supply store SWS.. SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY PEOPLE! THANK YOU SWS AND YOUR STAFF FOR KEEPING TUCSON CONNECTED!

This place has a ton of hardware to build or replace computer parts. They carry a ton of electrical connectors and components. I like having a local company that I can pick up that one tiny part or adapter that I'm missing. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is they are more expensive than other places, especially online. It's worth paying the little bit extra to keep these guys in business though.

This is the best place in Tucson to go for technology needs. Selection is large and geared toward the serious tech enthusiast.

Very condescending staff, very high restocking fee (25%) given that we aren't even installing the product unless it actually works. Which they can't even give us an "under best conditions" estimate on how far a signal will reach.

Will try very hard not to need to shop heee again.

If you want anything computer or audio/visual related, this hands down the best place to go in Tucson. They always have plenty of staff on hand so you don't have to wait for answers to your questions. The staff is super knowledgeable and they will get you exactly what you need. I really appreciate that in my 20+ trips to SWS, I have never had them try to sell me into something that was more expensive that what I really needed. And what is most surprising, is not only are they competitive on prices, a lot of times they are actually less expensive than Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc...

Friendly, knowledgeable & honest staff with prices at or below their bigger national competitors? All the more reason to support a great local business!

Took my PC in for a diagnosis to determine why it wasn't booting. The next day, they said my brand new PSU was dead, but when I got it home I tested it on another PC and it worked. I don't even think they did anything except take my money. They did try to sell me an inferior PSU but it seemed like a way to squeeze more money in order to justify a labor intensive diagnosis that they were really not interested in performing. 2 stars only because they have hard to find items on their shelves. Whether they are new/used or work at all is another story.

If it wasn't for the 15+ minute wait to speak with someone I would rate 5 star's. Still the best place in town for anything computer. From networking to assembling your own they usually have the parts on hand. Technical help is very good if your willing to wait for it. Parking was a little rough with no exit out the rear and no signs stating that fact. Overall experience okay. I recommend them over anyone else in town in the same business!

Had a graphics card emergency and these guys helped us get up and running in a hurry. We can't thank you enough for your time and efforts to help keep our production rolling! EXCELLENT customer service!

If you re a computer enthusiast, just need basic repairs etc done, or need some super specialized part/adapter or whatever SWS is where to go in Tucson. Oh and their prices on basic stuff are usually the same if not lower than bestbuy etc.

Stay away from this place. People who work here are RUDE!! They do NOT care for their customers. And even when asked for help they ignore your emails. They false advertise things on their website and don't tell you that the item you're purchasing is a "display"/used model until you pay. STAY AWAY!!!

It's the only place in Tucson you can go buy new computer parts.

I have been buying custom computers from SWS for over 15 years and have been pleased with every purchase. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful when deciding on a system that will meet your needs. SWS has a full stock of parts, peripherals, cables, and tools. Their service department is run by helpful experts.

The staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly. There are no stupid questions here. They are always professional and upfront with all repair costs. They also have a lot of hard to find cables and parts in stock. Support your local businesses.

Good assortment of computer needs at good price. Getting tough to compete with online stores. Nice to get last minute adapters, screws, parts, etc to complete a project. Good used/refurbished section including monitors.

The staff tries to upsell even when you explicitly state that you are not interested in buying a whole new system. They are rude, and charge a parts lookup fee of $25 *per part*. Neither this nor the fee they charge for diagnostics are applied, in whole or in part, to the final cost for the repairs. I would hae 'eaten' this as I felt I had no choice at that time, but, in response to a bad review I posted on Yelp, the (I think) manager called me up and was really nasty to me, stating that they would not help me because of the bad review. They did give me my money back, but I will now have to bring this machine all the way up to Phoenix instead of being able to keep my machine and my money in Tucson.

It gets even better. I went in to pick up the laptop and had the pack I use to carry it in hand. Rather than be polite about it, multiple clerks started shrieking at me about my backpack because of a posted sign stating that they have to be left at the front. I was not told where the computer would be for pickup. I had thought it would be where I had checked it in. They humiliated me in front of other customers. I have also relayed this information to the Better Business Bureau. They also have a negative review on Facebook as well as here and Yelp.

Hope it was worth it for you, SWS.

And it gets even better. On their Facebook page, tey are offering my correspondence with them against my wishes and my will, I might add to show to any person who comes in off the street. Who *does* that? At this point, I am not going to go away. I am going to make sure there is an awareness of their abusive business practices.

If you are looking for a random connector or fan or heatsink or something this is a great place. They have a discount area that's all old reused stuff that's cheap for when you are just looking for a specific something. The regular parts (new stuff) is usually over priced and better off just buying on Amazon/Newegg.

Overpriced parts wanted to fix my PC and they wanted 50 dollars for diagnostic

I will only buy here. I was given a price over the phone for a part I needed. After a half hour drive I was told the item was on the wrong peg and it would be $15 more. In short, the owner honored the price that I was given over the phone. That is great customer service !!!! I am now a lifetime customer and will recommend SWS to anyone who needs computer related items.

Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable about their work. I needed to replace a hard drive in a hurry and wasn't sure what to get. They helped me go over what my best options were based on how I use my computer and what was immediately available in their stock.

I will absolutely be enlisting their services again.

Good selection of parts, good place to build your own machine. They also carry AV cables. Prices are not as good as online but when you need it today you need it today. Parking is a bit tight and you can drive by it if you're not carefully looking.

Staff great helps with questions and buying what u need at best price. Won't over sell u more expensive items.

Terrible experience. I purchased Windows 10 Home from them. My software came in an envelope. The product key is on a label on the envelope but you have to scratch a silver sticker off the product key. Just like a lottery Scratcher. I scratched it off and part of the key came off with it so I can't read the key. I am unable to activate windows because of this. SWS says they can't help me and to contact Microsoft. I contact Microsoft and they were helping until they found out it was an OEM version of windows that is supposed to be sold with hardware builds. They said SWS is not supposed to sell these like this, they are supposed to sell you retail versions. So I call SWS back and they basically tell me they don't know why Microsoft said that, but they can sell them like that and they've been doing it for 10 years. The text on the envelope itself says OEM and that they are not to be sold individually. The bottom line is I got screwed out of $129 after tax by SWS because they sold me software that was not supposed to be sold without a system and as a result the product key can not be replaced. What am I supposed to do about it? Be careful buying from here, they don't even follow their contracts with their vendors and sell OEM products you can't get support for.

Great store, even for computer enthusiasts. Not as big of a selection as an online retailer, but there is wide enough selection to cover any replacement part you may need. They sell most major brands at MSRP.

They were very helpful and courtesy. If I ever need help again I will be back and recommend them to my friends.

I took my desktop in because I had received a failing hardware message, and my computer couldn't load windows. I brought it in, and Chris was very kind, and thorough in letting me know the process, and that it would take 2 to 4 days for them to figure out what was wrong with my computer. After 2 days, I received a phone call stating that my network card had died, but the rest of my motherboard was working fine, and that they could install an external network card. The gentleman told me the price at that time, and that he would call back when it was done. Later on that evening I received the phone call, and I returned the next day to pick it up. When I arrived it was near closing time, and Sean was more than gracious to assist me, and answer my questions. Also there was another tech named Christian who showed me where various things were, and directed me in the right direction on the purchase of a router. Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable, and willing to help me out without seeming like I was a burden. Great customer service!

Your best option if you want to shop locally. Expect markups for big items, but they're all fairly knowledgeable and it's a great place if you just need to pick up a cable.

Good place to grab stuff in a pinch when you can't wait for Amazon.

I bought their "stealth" pre build computer from them but apon inspection I realized that it doesnt even have the same motherboard that is advertised. And this one is far cheaper. Im not sure if this is a scam or a mistake but im quite flustered

KNOW NOTHING about my pc and I was hacked. If you are the same I HIGHLY recommend SWS. The check in staff listened to what happened, didn't make me feel ignorant which CAN happen at a box store trust me, and explained what they would do. I walked in a wreck and walked out confident. I dropped it off the Friday before July 4th wknd and he said it would take 5-7 days but I got a call on Monday that it was ready. I have shopped here before because I GET customer service,unlike a box store, and your level of computer knowledge is not a factor. My pc guy suggested I go there and he was right. After a HORRIFIC week of what will go wrong did SWS came through. WHY go anywhere else ? A local store with great service. Thanks,I wish I could remember the name of the guy who checked me in because he was terrific, for coming to my rescue and giving me back my pc so quickly.

Very often now I find better deals here than at places in Phx Valley.

I have done business with SWS for a very long time (20+ years), and along with Eliots electronics (for circuit level stuff) they are my go to place for parts in Tucson. Good selection (no one can compete with the online guys for selection), and prices that are reasonable.

Service can have a little bit of a longer turn around, but this is purely because they are busy, and last time I checked with them they are working to reduce the turn around time.

A lot of the recent reviews read very similarly, so either SWS has gone down hill fast, which I doubt, or someone is upset.

I encourage anyone needing parts or a computer in Tucson to look at SWS.

After four Macs and two Dells over the last 25 years, I finally decided to get a computer custom built to suit my needs. I checked out the "boutique" builders online, but found that I kept exceeding my budget. I went to SWS since I knew they had been in business for quite some time. The sales person (Joe, who is actually their on-site tech) really listened to what I wanted and gave great advice on where to put the bucks into my desktop. He didn't try to upsell everything, and even talked me out of spending too much for stuff that wouldn't make a noticeable difference (like expensive memory) given my needs. The result is just what I asked for: a super quiet, fast machine with great graphics for games. And all within my budget. Note: there was a hitch with the audio driver, and even though it was kind of a pain to take it back, they resolved it in less than 24 hours and were really gracious and helpful. It was a great experience and wonderful to buy from a local business instead of a big box or faceless online retailer.

I took my laptop in for dagnostic/repair after I had reached my limit on diagnosing a wifi problem. The gentleman at the service counter suggested that the wifi card in my laptop might have gone bad. I purchased a new one and installed it solving the problem. Thanks SWS! Saved me a bunch of money and time, plus not having my laptop out of commission for several days.

Great staff and great prices the only true computer store in Tucson

Never again will I go to SWS. When I walked in I was directed to the center of the store "customer service" just to get help. There were two employees sitting at their computers and neither seemed willing to help me with what I needed even though they were helping no one else. When I was finally addressed I started to describe the issues I was having with my computer and before I could even get halfway through the employee told me I would have to instead go to Elliot's Electronics. I told the employee that Elliot's didn't carry the computer hardware I needed but I was instead interrupted and told there was nothing they could do. After going to another store I was told my hard drive was failing. I purchased my drive from them and had my computer back in two days. They didn't want my business at SWS and I would guess they don't want yours either.

Do not waste your time with SWS, they are beyond rude.

Well laid out store, stock was in line with online. Will be going back for any future needs.

For the past few years, this is where I go for parts in a pinch. Employees are also knowledgeable of said parts as well.

Friendly, fast and they actually help you, unlike Best Buy. Don't bother with the other stores. You'll get your best price and best service here!

Overpriced and outdated, just buy PC parts online since you'll actually get a warranty that's honored and it's always cheaper online.

Pretty knowledgeable staff, every cable you can think of, worth checking out when you need computer stuff.

I go there when it is absolutely necessary. Their employees always act like they are being bothered and god forbid if you have a tech question, the will talk down to you. Stop hiring computer nerds with no social skills.

Great place to get computer parts and advice always have had great customer service

My computer was actually ready before they said it would be and it works great. Seems reasonably priced.

I am giving one star to SWS Computer in Tucson. I recently ordered a new computer from them. After 7 days they called to say my new computer was ready, but they had forgotten to tag my tower when I brought it in for data transfer. They asked me to describe my tower so that they could find it.

When I expressed anger and frustration at their incompetence, they became angry and focused on my anger, and not their "screwup".

These angry employees included a guy on the floor, the floor manager, and the owner.

No one ever apologized. I cancelled my order, and told them that I would never do business with them again.

Been going to SWS for years with good results until today. Bought a new graphics card last week to replace a failing card. New card had no output so I took the system in and explained old card had poor output new card has no output. I then had to paid a $50 diagnosis fee to be told I was sold a defective product. I had come to expect more from SWS.

Their staff was very helpful and very polite. If you're looking for "beyond Best Buy" computer needs, this is a good place.

Most likely you will be able to find what you need.

Asked for help told me to ask someone else. Nice huh?

Like every business, SWS was also effected, customers can no longer walk around. Shorter store hours, 10-5.

This is a Tucson classic as far as I'm concerned. I just got back into town and they were able to fix my laptop screen with a turn around of hours, not days, in my case. The guys and gals they have working here have somewhere between years and decades of experience each: so you're in good hands. I can't even tell you how many times over the years I've purchased hardware or equipment from them, or have computers fixed, it's a no brainer..

Very impressive customer service. Whoever is running this place, they hired some very good people. Felt like finding that one special auto shop or barber that you'll go to for everything.

This is one where I'm truly torn. Tucson lacks almost any computer parts store, so when it comes down to it I'm glad that they're here. But, and I understand why, they charge significantly more than other places- especially compared to online prices. I know they're locally owned and can't compete on prices, but it hurts just a bit paying more when I know I could get almost everything 10-15% cheaper.
That being said, the service is truly fantastic, and everyone there is knowledgeable and friendly. I would still recommend sws to someone.

I recently landed my first contract to produce CGI visual effects for an actual budgeted and distributed Hollywood movie. This work doesn't make its way to Tucson often if ever, so it was important my career and Tucson in general, to get it right. I web-ordered a high end computer from a out of state and well known vendor that specializes in computers for this kind of work to handle the extreme workloads feature film production puts on machines. Anyway, the machine, which came weeks late, from the other "high-end" vendor blew a mother board after one crashing/freezing week of trouble. The shot were due in one week so there was no time to send it back and make my deadline. I called a big electronics in Phoenix and was put on hold...

Then, I called SWS in big hurry and they hustled for me immediately helping me think through all of my options. Computers of my specifications are not often available anywhere in Arizona and never on a moment's notice. Two employees from SWS, stood out and stood up to the plate, spending extra time and energy with me, even skipping lunch. The helped me buy and customize one of there Phoenix high-end systems that could handle the workload and deadline. These employees were Vlad Averkiev and Kristian Gonzalez, they knew every part, piece of what I need and they all worked together. Within a two hours I walked out the door with the fastest and most stable computers I have ever used for this work for small fortune less than the VFX specific machine manufacturer charge for the same hardware. This machine is still humming away crunching away at 8 gig VFX files, writing/reading TB sized simulations and rendering feature film quality 4k digital film frames day and night,with not one hiccup.

SWS literally saved the day for me. In fact, they helped this major production go out in time as they scheduled editing based on my deadline. I would recommend to any professional doing high end work in Arizona to visit with these guys before ordering something out of state or buying a slick fruit based system for a huge mark up. I have been passing on SWS, Vlad and Kristian s info to other production professionals and small business startups all week.

I will only go to SWS when I need something now.
The staff is OK at times, not as knowledgeable as they should be. Too bad their prices aren't as competitive because I would like to keep my money here locally, but in this recession my money can go further online with the couple of companies that accept my resale license without making me have to spend a certain amount of money every month/quarter.

I have no idea where the negative reviews for SWS are coming... I'm going to guess some disgruntled former employees. I was at SWS yesterday. I show up probably once a month, like I did yesterday... all I needed was a replacement power cord for my laptap. What I got was instant, friendly service An employee took me right to what I needed. I was out of there in five minutes. That's been my experience at this locally owned store for as long as I can remember (10 years?). Go and shop this store, it's better than ever. The employees are friendly, competent, knowledgeable and helpful. Spend your money here in Tucson at a locally owned business that cares.
