SWS DID ME DIRTY! I took 3 computers to SWS for service. I have an older laptop that I was having a problem updating, but worked very well otherwise. SWS made several attempts to rectify the issue with no luck. On their final attempt, they somehow damaged the ability to use Wifi AND DID NOT TELL ME THEY DAMAGED IT. When I returned to tell them to fix what they broke, they threatened to call the cops on me to have me removed from the store. THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR PREMANENTLY DAMAGE MY LAPTOP! I can no longer use Wifi on my laptop due to their negligence. THEY REFUSED TO MAKE GOOD ON WHAT THEY DAMAGED!

SWS Electronics and Computers is a great place to go for local purchase of any of your computer needs. I feel that they have a really good selection of most of the frequently needed parts for building computers or upgrading them. They also have a huge selection of cables, wiring, attachments and plugs. They have a great choice of surge protectors and uninterrupted power supplies, backup power supplies and power strips. They also have a varying number of refurbished computers and monitors that are available for sale at very good prices. SWS is prices are very good for local purchase items; obviously you can get better prices on the Internet if you want to wait, but if you're in a hurry SWS is the place to go to get the parts that you need and have a good selection to choose from. They are also great for having a military discount as well as one for Pima and University of Arizona, etc. I definitely recommend SWS for your local purchases of computer supplies.
While SWS has a great selection of parts that will fit most people's needs, the staff is a great disappointment. They try to upsell on darn near everything and the overall feel of the business is starting to feel like a big box store. Their prices are getting out of hand and the staff, instead of getting smarter, is getting dumber. You used to be a fun place to shop but now I avoid going there unless it's an emergency. Too bad.
I needed a upgrade from Windows 7 (:() and was very happy with the service at SWS. I have been here before, but not with such a complex problem. I want to add, I know little to nothing about computers. I am an "Oldster"! At least that is my excuse! SWS knows EVERYTHING and is very patient. They set me up with everything at a very reasonable cost. I will always use SWS.
You'll pay 1/5th the price as Best Buy on most cables, and most hardware costs the same as it would online if you include shipping. Knowledgeable, polite, straightforward. The best there is, anywhere.
I've seen stuff online with shipping cheaper than their cheapest product. I went in for a headset and wasn't thrilled that my friend convinced me to buy it. The return policy is unless it's broken you can't exchange it if you just didn't like it. So that sucks. As I'm not to thrilled but now stuck with it.
SWS was able to solve a software problem as to installing it properly in my computer. Others have tried and failed. This is my second experience with SWS and both experiences were excellent!
My desktop has been dropping my home wireless signal off and on since I bought it two years ago. I finally got fed up and took it to SWS. They installed a new wireless card in less than 24 hours for about $45 (that's including tax, labor, the part, everything) and I haven't had a problem since. They were so friendly and didn't talk down to me at all (I don't know much about computers). This place is awesome.
Horrible customer service, most staff don't actually know anything about IT, and everything is in a odd location. Unless you know exactly what you need do not go.
I'm a university instructor who teaches both in-person and on-line. I recently moved into a new home and had several 'bugs' in my technology transfer, which included five different computers, three operating systems, seven monitors, a host of hardware and software applications, and a printer. I made arrangements with SWS to have Eric Suarez come to my home the day after the move to ensure I was ready to work the following day. Eric was simply OUTSTANDING as he troubleshot the network and printer issues - keeping me informed and updated as to his progress during his appointment. Not only did Eric get every last detail attended to, he answered all of my questions and ensured I had a complete understanding of what was done. I would call SWS and Eric Suarez again in the future, and would be thrilled to pay my bill based upon the exemplary service. Thank you SWS and Eric!
SWS is awesome. They knew exactly what I needed at very good prices. The staff is patient, respectful and so smart. It was a pleasure shopping there and I will return for all my computer needs. Five Stars!!!!!
I've been shopping at SWS since the late 90's when they were located on Plumer before they moved to the Speedway store. Back then as now, the staff always helped me to troubleshoot an upgrade, installation, hardware or software problem. They've got the best computer electronics inventory in town, no kidding. And, their prices are VERY reasonable certainly compatible if not better than Best Buy. I buy a lot on the internet but if they've got what I want at SWS, I go there. I'll get exactly what I want, same day (except Sunday), with great technical help from the staff if I need it. If they understand what you need they won't oversell you or steer you wrong.
I phoned the store up after my PC blue screened - SWS took time on the phone to talk me through the problem, correctly diagnosed the problem as a bad video card, had the desired card in stock, it worked well. I was up and running within the hour.
What a fabulous retail experience! Trustworthy beyond measure. Traveling the national parks in an RV, I experienced problems indicating my laptop had a problem not worth fixing. So I bought a new MSI laptop at SWS. It was a beauty, but when I later dry camped [also called boondocking] I started to experience the same problem with the new laptop. It wasn't the laptop after all; it was the RV's output feeding the inverter! Without hesitation SWS gave me a refund with an understandable 5% restock fee [I had tossed some paperwork and there was minor scratching on the laptop cover emblem]. The salesman then helped me transition data and the like back to my original laptop! I am so impressed by how they handled my needs and wouldn't hesitate going back there for any of my IT needs.
A very important local business to support if you are into computers they will match Best Buy and you can get accessories and components right away opposed to waiting for shipping from online stores. The owners are very nice people if you ever speak to them in-store you'll appreciate the hard work they put in to sustaining a computer store that is in a giant chain or is solely based online. If you're ignorant to computers everybody on staff will be more than happy to explain what you need to know for based on your needs.
Looking for a business level desktop, thought I would give a local business a shot. I'm glad I did! SWS exceeded my expectations and saved me money from what I would have spent at box store or online. Chandler advised me on everything I needed and nothing I didn't. Customization work took less than a day. The computer works perfectly, is very fast, and doesn't drag from extra bloatware that usually comes from manufactures. Also have the piece of mind of being able to go to a brick and mortar location with real techs that can help if needed. Not to mention, the machine is fully upgradable in the future, which will also save me money down the road. Highly recommend anyone looking for a new computer to consider this business.
A great experience as always. I picked up a Corsair K90 keyboard earlier today, the staff had helpful suggestions and recommended similar products - both more and less expensive. While up selling is an unfortunate part of retail these days. This felt more like advice from professionals who were familiar with the hardware. Excellent service!
SWS is a Tucson based computer store. One of a very few that are left in Tucson. They provide that "I need it now..." service and parts for computers, peripherals. I recommend them.
Helpful staff with all the parts you will ever need.
I grew up in tucson and SWS has been around since before then... always been a great resource for me wither i need a stick of ram asap or if i need help with a build of mine.
Staff is knowledgeable they no what there obviously and unlike bestbuy they not trying to upsell you on a pc that they know nothing about.
Also a great selection of cheap cables, fans, and misc for cheap if you ever need like a hdmi to vga to dp adaptor lol
Currently customers wait outside for employees to go fetch the product requested. I dont mind, as it was a short wait under the shade of a gazebo. My request was a little discombobulated but the employee was able to figure it out and get me the part that no other store had in stock within minutes.
I've been doing business with SWS since 2009 and have only seen such quality of personnel, service, and product back during my early days as an electronics technician in the 80's. Besides having most everything I need and the knowledge to support that inventory to service the customer, they can explain computer hardware and software that the layperson can understand. Being in the business of electronics production and design for many years - I know my stuff, and so does the staff at SWS. I listen to them as they help people with their specific problems. Above all they are honest...honest...honest! I highly recommend SWS to anyone with a desire to buy or even learn about computers.
My go to place for need it now items. Also if you need a strange cable or odd cable, this is your one stop to get all you need. The have save my bacon several times on items I needed right now to finish a project. Also the staff has always been very helpful.
SWS Computers came to the rescue regarding a problem I had been having with my PC for the past two months. After taking my PC to two other places with no success, SWS Computers was able to diagnose and fix my issue in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost that other places were charging. Overall I had a very good experience with SWS and it is very likely that I will return if I am ever in need of a diagnostic or part in the future.
Went in this morning to drop off laptop that needed to be fixed. Waited over 5 minutes and no one waited on me so I left, frustrated. Totally contrary to assistance I get on phone and past experiences in the store
Awesome products. Employees know what they are talking about. And an overwhelming amount of gaming accessories / parts. Best electronics store ive visited.
Lots of cool computer stuff!! Went in to look for a specific cable that I needed and they had it! The staff is very helpful and will help you with anything you need.
I was not going to mention anything; but the attempted, and rather coincidental, ear drum blast that just sounded, randomly, from my phone that was ringing makes me suspect SWS Electronics are actually more suspiciously corrupt than I had anticipated...I called because I wanted to purchase a gift certificate. They said they had no gift certificates, but they could enroll me into a payment plan, which was just as good....I was then called the following day and left a message that my computer was ready.I chalked it off to ineptitude and dismissed the call.I got a call yesterday asking how my computer was running(?)This led me to ask of my payment plan.He told me I had 30 days.I explained my situation and he told me they actually had git certificates, and never apologized for any inconvenience. He told me about options that could be worked out "maybe", after he talked to the owner.I laughed after our phone call and called my credit union. The money was in my account as he called and told me of the limitations provided in his owners options. I think my experience calling foreign customers customer service call centers compared favorably to the arrogantly pompus strong arm tactics attempted my SWS. I hear they're good with computers though.
Not as cheap as you can get online, but if you want to get it faster, with decent prices, this is the local place to go. This is my go to place for power supplies and cases (because shipping gets expensive) and anything that I need urgently.
I love this shop. if you're IT person or geek, there nothing better than having a local store for all your IT needs. The guy that work here are very knowledgable and helpful. Yes its tough to compete with Amazon and Newegg but supporting our local store is a great thing in case you need to walk in and pick something up rather than wait for it to arrive by mail. the prices are very reasonable for a local store.
SWS helped us get a recently purchased TiVo up and running by cloning the drive from the previous machine. The SWS staff are very professional and customer-oriented. The job was completed as promised and we were very satisfied with their service. Cost was reasonable, too. Definitely recommend this business!
If you need a cord, or cable or computer part, check here first before going all over city. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they don't have longer hours for those of us who work days. They need to extend their hours to 9 pm.
Drew was awesome! Very helpful and knowledgeable, showed a variety of options for what we were looking for. Also great humor. Overall great experience!
Awesome staff. They will answer any question you have. They will help you with whatever you need. Will definitely go to them again. I just spent $1500 there and it was worth every cent.
My situation is particular, I will say that first. I am sure these guys are the first to go to for parts, networking, and general questions/advice.
I had an accident with my laptop and the touch screen shattered. A stupid accident but I can live without a touch screen and replace it myself, which I informed them of over the phone. However, due to being a dufus in general, my hard drive had become irrevocably f'd to high heaven.
Now, I don't know much about computers. But I do know enough to be able to replace laptop screens and to be aware that, unless the motherboard is fried, a hard drive can be replaced.
I took it in for some "professional" advice. It was decided (after having a "professional" in the "back room" take a look at it for a whole 3 minutes), after parading my shattered screen facing every customer in the store, that it was unfixable and that I needed to buy a new laptop.
I held my tongue an said, "wow, that really sucks huh?". All they did was try to sell me some device to save my data to transfer to a new laptop. I zipped it up and walked out.
Now, in their defense: the store it was bought at under warranty ALSO decided to decline replacement due to "accidental circumstance", which I kind of expected anyway.
Now, to their detriment: I took it to a small east side technician(who will go unnamed) who works for a small private shop(which will go unnamed) my family and I have trusted for years to see what we could do. After taking the back off and testing the hard drive he said, "no big deal". A cool $120 later I got my laptop back with no touch screen :(..., but with a FASTER solid state hard drive than what it came with originally.
So, SWS. Cheap parts and every accessory you need. But I suspect they generate shop revenue from freaked out college students who know even less than I do about computers. Should you take it there for fixing? I wouldn't.
Whether you're a novice, or extremely tech savvy, this place has everything you need and many items you didn't know you needed, all without breaking the budget. And the staff is VERY knowledgeable! Computer repair and installation service also available.
I would consider it the best computer store in country. I have not been able to find it's match from New York to California and here's the best part, they are helpful, pleasant, and their prices are competitive with New Egg as well as Amazon.
Always very helpful and well organized. I don't know a lot about computers but the employees are nice and don't make any of my questions seem stupid which is great.
SWS has most everything you need for computers and networking. I was surprised to see that they still stock old slow N routers at high prices. Today's real world needs are with the most secure AC Routers, (IPV6), they have some but too expensive to buy. The staff is friendly and know the location of anything you want. They don't stock Cat-7 cable, 6 is the best they have. They have most of the tools needed for networking testing, installation, and repair. Prices on these are good. They do have select High quality computer CPU's, Motherboards, RAM, HDD, and Liquid Cooling systems and parts, and prices are comparable to what is available elsewhere. Overall, since they are the only local computer and networking store, they get five stars. I wish Tucson had another store just to see what competition would do to the prices and availability of the latest equipment and technology available.
I will never again step foot in this store. The staff is absolutely disrespectful and dismissive. I went in looking to get a wireless router and I was met with an employee who didn't seem to care that I was even there. He wasn't interested in hearing about what I needed, instead he shoved the closest router to him into may hands an literally walked away. I tried to ask another salesperson if this router would suit my needs as a small business person and they were just as uninterested in helping me. Do yourself a favor and buy online from NewEgg, Amazon, or even visit Best Buy. At least the novices at Best Buy care enough to treat you like a person. SWS should be ashamed of themselves and should close their doors since they care not about anything but the bottom line.
I have been to this store a many times and the staff has always been customer service friendly. They answer my questions and even offer up suggestions. Never pushy always assisting. I can always find an associate when I need one. I would recommend SWS to my family, friends and co workers.
