Steigenberger MAXX Hotel Review

Have vacationed here for a few days and were very satisfied.

The hotel MAXX by Steigenberger Sanssouci is a nice hotel, conveniently located for the city of Potsdam and the palace gardens of Park Sanssouci. The hotel is large and has several rooms. The breakfast is good and the rooms are quiet. The staff is friendly, unfortunately there can be confusion of tongues when communicating in English. MAXX is a 10-15 minute walk from Schloss Sanssouci and a 15-20 minute walk from the Hollandische Viertel. Highly recommended!

The hotel was renovated and is now very nice and modern. The beds are very very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent and abundant. Traveling for business and the confort is very appreciated.

Very friendly staff, rooms clean, bright and modern, location ideal.
Unfortunately the parking garage belonging to the hotel was full. Other guests said it was also quite tight. We then switched to the public parking garage around the corner, which had enough space and also offered a day pass that was 2 euros cheaper.
In any case, we will be happy to book with you the next time you visit Potsdam.

Nice hotel in the city center on Luisenplatz. Unfortunately without air conditioning at 34 degrees in August 2020!

Absolutely top location, right on Sanssouci Park and Luisenplatz and Brandenburg Gate.
Cozy new, modern rooms.
Very friendly and attentive staff.
Breakfast is currently - due to corona - you put together yourself the evening before and is then brought to the table, egg dishes and fruit salad are freshly prepared.
The staff at the breakfast service are doing a great job under the current conditions!
The rental bikes offered by the hotel are really great and easy to ride even by large guests.
Small weaknesses in housekeeping were communicated and optimized for the future.
All in all, we had a great stay at Maxx by Steigenberger and in the beautiful city of Potsdam.
We will definitely be back and then it will definitely be all 5 stars.

Very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast (organization) and a very modern hotel with a great location.
The only minus point
are the small rooms with only separate space for toilet and shower - the sink, mirror, socket for the hair dryer etc. are included in the bedroom.

The Hotel MAXX by Steigenberger Sanssouci Potsdam is located in the immediate vicinity of Sanssouci Palace. Since the parking spaces in Berlin are rare, stay in the parking deck and drive with public funds. The hotel itself is clean even if one or the other room is small. It is enough. The buffet in the evening was not my taste but that is not to say. For me the breakfast was rich and very good. Fresh squeezed juices etc. nothing is missing. The room prices are okay.

Friendly service. Super cheap and tasty lunch. I can really recommend it.

The location of the hotel is awesome! The park of Sanssouci is only a few steps away, as well as the center with the historic city gates and the Dutch quarter. To the port (jetty) we walked about 20 minutes. A public underground car park (15 euros per day) is located in the immediate vicinity. The rooms are after complete renovation modern and friendly. The entire staff was courteous and cared for us unencumbered. We felt very well and will come back! For the great breakfast there are 5 stars!

Very good hotel in the upper price range. But it was worth it. The breakfast was high-priced but I haven't had such a good one in ages! The bartender was also great, casual and friendly. And it's location is great for a walking explore. I would love to come back.

Very well located. But two caveats. First a mattress with a hole, so a sleepless night. Then a wake-up call at 9am by the housekeeping staff who wanted to know what time we were leaving the room. They are told between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., but come back around 9:50 a.m. to ask the same question.
To their credit, a reduction on the invoice.

Everything was great and very commendable was the ticket for all public transport in Potsdam to Berlin.

Seldom experienced such a great concept in a hotel. Well thought-out details e.g. B with USB sockets. The room looks larger due to the special division to the bathroom and much more. Day ticket for public transport. Great When the craftsmen have gone I'm curious what else was done there. I am already excited.

The breakfast has already been praised several times. I can only associate myself with. The proximity to the castle park should also not go unmentioned.

Great service, very clean and in a central location.

Nice, newly renovated house in a great location. Room nicely decorated in a pleasant size. Big TV. The breakfast was delicious. Everything you need for a good start to the day. Seminar rooms and conference snacks perfectly fine. Minor organizational disagreements still provide room for improvement. Nevertheless, the house is recommended.

We booked this hotel for a long weekend away. Unfortunately it was impossible to sleep in the room as it was extremely hot inside and there was no air conditioning. We decided to leave after the first night but the staff insisted that we pay 90% for the three nights regardless.

Not everything is going well yet. But basically okay. Staff is helpful. Rooms are clean. Even with demand decaffeinated coffee available. Were satisfied. Short way to Sanssouci. Nights are not possible. But there is enough restaurant around the corner.

Here you can stay overnight well and centrally! Friendly service. The breakfast offer was (despite Corona) very rich and varied.

No easily accessible parking, the hotel parking lot is always full. Staff are nice and rooms are quite modern but small. Outlets for devices are in the worst spots and the voltage is weak so expect a slow charge. Beds were mediocre but clean. Bathroom was nice too.

Rooms with the simplest equipment, a little disappointed with the service (had booked 3-bed rooms, but the extra bed was only in the evening after multiple requests). Breakfast very clear and a little carelessly arranged. Location very good. Overall not more than mediocrity

Centrally located hotel with nice big rooms. The breakfast was very extensive and high quality. In my room rate was a ticket for public transport (Berlin ABC) included. Restaurants are within a 5 minute walk galore. I can recommend the steakhouse "El Baron" here.

I am currently a guest at the hotel with my family. Today around 5.30 p.m. a young couple without a mask walked around the hotel. I spoke to her, but she didn't care. I then asked the young man at reception what the hotel was doing about it. He said he had already warned her several times, but can't do anything. He himself only had the mask over his mouth, his nose was free. Now my question to the manager of the house and Messrs. Boller and Nachtmann, the managing directors of Maxx Hotel GmbH: How do you feel about the fact that current laws are obviously being violated in your hotel and that you are endangering the health of your other guests? How does the Internet community see it?

Unfortunately, apart from the bar, the service at reception and breakfast was far below our expectations. The young team employed at the reception was not very cooperative when an error appeared in the booking system. Breakfast was a disaster - the order form was probably necessary due to Corona - but unfortunately it does not show that if you tick O juice, that with four people only one is brought.
There, too, the service unfortunately fell short of expectations. With waiting times of over 20 minutes for breakfast and rolls to be reordered, they certainly did us no favors.
The bed for the adults was ok, even if provided with bed linen that is more like winter. Unfortunately the rooms are not air-conditioned, so that we weren't allowed to experience such a continuous night and everyone had to sweat.

What else caught the eye: There are no towels and no minibar in the room, the teaching refrigerator is then apparently more of a holdover from the original Steigenberger time.

Otherwise the rooms are fine. The bathrooms have also been renewed.

It was a great stay. The breakfast was also great, despite the corona location, without a buffet.

Nice smaller hotel, clean and with new furniture, very good breakfast. Lies almost directly next to the park Sanssouci, entrance Friedenskirche. Some underground parking spaces are available, otherwise large underground car park directly opposite the Luisenplatz. Many restaurants and bars nearby. Most of the sights are within walking distance.

My 10th visit to Potsdam with 3 nights each. Only now became aware of the Maxx. Greatly renovated with a style where old was integrated into new. Very comfortable bed, pleasant pillow. The cleaning of the rooms was exemplary, as was the breakfast service. The breakfast itself was very good with a really delicious filter coffee.
I didn't use the bar and restaurant. Spa / fitness is currently being renovated.

Jogging opportunities but right around the corner with Sansoucci Park. Parking garage at Luisenplatz a little cheaper than the Hotel TG.

The only criticism: The silicone on the room windows should be renewed again. The traces have been visible since 1997. But that was a trifle. If there is another visit to Potsdam, I will come back.

We spent 2 nights in the MAXX. The single rooms and the beds in them are big enough. Comfortable beds and good pillows. One point deduction for the lack of air conditioning and the parking situation - too little parking space in the underground car park. Service and reception tip-top. We found the current breakfast situation to be well resolved, reorders and requests were fulfilled promptly. The nice barman also had good tips about Potsdam in store. Thanks for that too

Nice hotel, but it deserves 3 rather than 4 stars:
- Room 421 bed directly with the pillow on the elevator shaft. Much too loud up to 1 h and from 5
- At dinner with the group, they were only asked at the end of the meal what they would like to drink!
- No body lotion in the bathroom
- Freshly painted room on the 4th floor, intense smell of color in the room
- Selling a chocolate bar takes 5 minutes because nobody knows how to book it on the PC. (You don't keep the guest waiting, you book it afterwards)
- The too young and inexperienced staff prevents the hotel from being ranked at a high level.
- The breakfast is top class and great. The chef who checks the buffet every now and then should be given new matching trousers.
It's these little things that make a hotel stylish!

My friend and I wanted to end our short-term visit to Potsdam (with Christmas market) in FRIEDRICH. Potsdam is great, but in the Steigenberger there was the contrast program. When we got to the bar, we were ignored and unfriendly, sullenly welcomed. We lost our appetite. There were some telling looks from the gentleman, who seemed to be happy, that we went again and he had his rest, it was only a table occupied by two men. He has not revised, a small ray of hope was the lady at the front desk, the nice and uncomplicated a question answered. This afternoon did not end well for us, especially since Steigenberger has a name and stands for quality as well as claims. But we had a different impression. This is a pity.

Room super clean, bed very comfortable.
Only the furnishings are partly a bit older.
Despite the dog, we were welcomed very nicely and even got a treat.

Today we would have been very happy to receive information about bomb blasting! It's good that we know our stuff so well !! Hotel renovated in a very modern way, the charm of before is gone, also the connection to the film city Potsdam / Babelsberg! The staff otherwise very friendly! Breakfast well solved, wonderful to sit outside!

Stayed here several times. Perfectly centrally located in beautiful Potsdam. Within walking distance of all amenities, restaurants and terraces. Half hour drive from Berlin. Mixed experiences with this hotel. From very good to disappointingly inadequate. Service and information supply changes. There is too much distinction in the rooms offered. Photos homepage do not always correspond to reality. Photos shown here are from a Studio. Without armchairs. Wheelchair users experience obstacles. Extensive breakfast. Possibility to eat and drink something in the evening. Hotel garage tight. Fortunately, Contipark is a stone's throw away.

I am and have always been enthusiastic about the hotel, a great presence all employees super nice and very helpful (there is even honeycomb honey) but unfortunately I have to say that I felt very disappointed by the kitchen manager ..
I asked politely for a latte and you referred me to the machines .. just like when I hand over my cell phone to the electronics store, it would be laughable when the manager tells me that the screwdrivers are back there ..?
All the other employees who were there in those days as waitresses, first class .. but from the boss? Who can not even apologize or neither nor admit it ... to want to talk out of it that it is the standard? Sorry but I don't expect that from MaXX by Steigenberger

Booked was loud "filter", a hotel with breakfast, fitness and sauna. The hotel itself is great, nice staff, great breakfast, also coffee to go. The location is great. The rooms are nice and spacious.
The fitness is 5-10gehminuten in Potsdam and the sauna in the basement, a useless, closed construction site. This is not noted anywhere and therefore you are literally cheated as a customer. Had you known, you would have booked somewhere else .... VERY bad

No announcement about renovations. Bad smelly air in the room because there is no air extraction. Telephone isn t working. This can t be a four star hotel.. still three nights to go..

Staff was very friendly but the rooms do not promise all the comfort that is promised and in the summer without air conditioning it is very warm in the room.
