Know nothing about the resort, but don't go to the restaurant in mid-march! Prices were high, food was OK, but cold when it got to the table, which was about an hour after it was ordered, and then 18% gratuity was automatically added. Will not go back.

To be honest, I could've cooked my porkchop better than they did, only spent $2.00, had way more vegetables than what they give you AND gotten full. 5 of us went. 4 porckchops and 1 catch of the day with 5 beers. $667.00 later, we were still hungry and disappointed in the quality of the food we received. Waitress was nice, but I'd never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself some money and go to a 2 star place.
Very Beautiful setting. Room stunk of sewer gas. Made a birthday dinner Rez and plans at the restaurant and they totally spaced it! That s the reason we stayed there. Rooms are very expensive and out of context with comparable local or other similar branded properties. Food was even more expensive with no obvious value for the cost. Service in the restaurant was absent consistently. Management seems to ignore the issues or are not engaged. Gorgeous views of the vermillion cliffs and hoodoos!
I filled out the form on their website with my phone number and email, along with a detailed inquiry about renting the place for my wedding. They literally never responded at all, except now I get random advertisements in my email from them. I ended up making wedding arrangements elsewhere.
Hotel overpriced for the services offered !!! It was our honeymoon, we stayed there for 1 week and not even a fruit basket or a bottle of champagne even though we paid 4200 ($ 5541) per week !! In addition, we had the air conditioning machinery next to the room and suddenly a noise of ventilation continuously !! And without forgetting that we spent the week with 2 spiders in the bathroom and I do not count the cobwebs present .... It is really not worth the price, no breakfasts included and they do not speak a word of French, and it is said to be a luxury hotel ??? In addition, we also paid $ 512 (or 388) for a horseback ride to just walk and stay 500m from the hotel, and $ 288 for a special couples massage !!!! It's a shame and really we are very disappointed that it has nothing to do with French luxury !!!
We do not recommend this hotel as everything is expensive and we really feel like we got ripped off ...
Went to a wedding here. Beautiful for evening/sunset weddings. The outdoor venue was really beautiful and perfect for a large gathering. Idk if they required the bride and groom to use the resort's caterer but if they do, my review of the food is it was really good (There was a taco bar). The women at the winery were super friendly and fun to talk to. Too bad it was CoVID because we were looking for a place to sit but there was no place to sit at the whole resort except for the couches in the lobby. So we spent our time up the road at the mercantile. Other than that it was a great experience.
This is a beautiful setting on the river in the middle of a desert. There are a bunch of things to do and Arches NP is really close. We went twice as this was our base camp. The food in the restaurant was exceptionally good, both breakfast and lunch. Two down sides. The bed squeaked and the walls were a little thin where we stayed. Other than that this would be a great place to take active kids. We liked happy hour in our rooms with our friends, watching the river and the rafters going by. They were pandemic friendly.
We were so excited to stay at this property because good friends highly recommend it. To say we were disappointed with the food is an understatement. The breakfast was consecutively underwhelming. Not only was the service poor, ( and lukewarm coffee) breakfast took over 30 minutes and we were the only table in the restaurant. Not sure how breakfast can be so bland. The worst day was the complimentary French toast. It was so soggy my daughter would eat it ( not hubby, who eats everything) if you can t make French toast...perhaps hire a better breakfast chef.
Amazing location, delicious food, best to go for lunch or dinner and then do a ride in the Onion Creek Canyon. Not recommended for a stay as room prices are at least 30 to 40% too high vs what you can expect in terms of service. Service is unprofessional, very much depending on each individual person. No management process is place to ensure quality standard up to the room rates. We couldn't book a couples massage on a Saturday afternoon; room service invisible, needed to request to bring towels at 3.30pm; very unfriendly relationship with lady at the activity center that didn't even stand up from her bench to talk to us; jacked up prices for activities; some fitness center equipment didn't work; landscaping was negligent... what a pity! there is no other high end property in the Moab area, so this is pretty much, but wouldn't go back .
We had an amazing stay at sorrel with our 3 year old twins. The kids loved the animals and spent hours in the pool, and we all hiked up around the hotel into arches national park - truly a memorable, unique place!
If your looking for a high end Dude Ranch experience, this is it! Great location far from town, along side the Colorado River, horse back riding on site, amazing restaurant, cowboy museum and the best employees. Also, Adrift Adventures will pick you up here to take you into the National Parks for a back country 4x4 tour you'll never forget!
Like the other reviewers I would say this is not worth the money. The food isn't good and you can tell it is from a package. The hairdryer was dirty, the outside patio was dirty and full of spiderwebs. They have better sheets and towels at Hampton Inn. It's more of a 3 star hotel and not worth the money. Next time I would stay down the river at an equally pretty place.
Came here for a wedding and the atmosphere is sensational. Breath taking view and a nice break from busy downtown Toronto. Not a lowly priced hospitality by any mean so please keep that mind. It is mid high for stay and food.
For the price of this place the overall experience should have been better. The siting in the room was uncomfortable, the lighting too low to read, the service at Breakfast was very poor and the cabin noise isolation a bit low. We were unfortunately there during a rainy & chilly period in October where use of its outdoor facilities was quite limited and our experience was colored by spending more time inside then desirable and not their fault. We would have loved a fireplace but that was not available. The location is spectacular and the real draw and their staff very accommodating. If the price had been more reasonable, we would have rated it higher.
i have not found a more peaceful place to visit "and" have a great selection of activities available to us. we sat on the swing on our deck, reading a book and watching rafters pass by on the Colorado River. we hiked and went horseback riding. the horses on the property provided a tranquil feeling. we ate amazing farm to table food, dining outside surrounded by the most beautiful sunsets. i never wanted to leave.
On the expensive side, but the location, the natural scenery all around and the facilities and amenities justify it. It is a premium experience staying here. The restaurant is quite nice too, had one of the best steaks here that I've had anywhere in the US.
Beautiful Resort. My family stayed for a few nights in December. The location is absolutely beautiful and the staff are very friendly. Food was excellent. We even sat by the fire at night with complimentary S'mores. I left my earrings in our room and the staff posted them to me straight away.
I stayed at this Ranch a few months ago, and out of any place I have ever visited it was by far my favorite trip ever. Immediately the staff makes you feel so welcome and are some of the most lovely people I have ever met. The food was healthy, organic and delicious- SO fresh. The 360 degree views make you feel like you are on a different planet. There is no shortage of things to do; hiking, jeep tours, yoga, the spa. This hotel should be on every persons bucket list. To this day I find myself recommending to any time my friend or family member wants to get away from the city-life. 10/10!
Beautiful setting. Great tours and guiding staff. Dining room experience was disappointing .Took about 1 hr 20 mins for dinner to be served on our arrival.
I've been to the SRR a few times now and I always enjoy my time there. The property is indescribably beautiful. The horses, the fields, the overarching red-rock of the monument valley... It's something you need to see for yourself. The rooms have a well balanced mix of western and modern decor. Some places are just tacky; this is not the case at SRR. The food is incredible; I had the fish... in UT... yeah, that good. One of my favorite parts of the property is the fire pit next to restaurant, over looking the river. It's perfect for an after dinner cognac and cigar.
I much prefer visiting in the cooler months- spring and fall. Once, I visited in winter and it was very quiet and fairly cold. This didn't bother me one bit. To get Arches, Dead Horse, and all the other spots around the valley mostly to your self is worth the cold.
Whenever I hear someone is heading down to the Moab area, I recommend they stay at the Sorrel River Ranch.
The setting and scenery of this place couldn't be more perfect. It's absolutely stunning. Almost worth a visit JUST for that alone. We made a Saturday night sunset dinner reservation for that reason, which unfortunately was super disappointing. The drinks list is extremely limited, only a few cocktails and a handful of average Wines by the glass - all around the $20+ mark. Complete rip off The entrees were between $40-$90 and really basic and lacked flavor. The trout was almost certainly cooked in the microwave and had ZERO flavor. The rice it came with was not even cooked properly. Still hard. Tried to finish it as I was starving but just couldn't. Ordered a side of Brussel sprouts which was burnt to a crisp. It was like ash. Lol. The prawn cocktail was so stale and rubbery you could bounce it off the floor. $170+tip for 2 drinks, 2 entrees and an appetizer & side. I'd pay this for quality which was completely missing in this case. The one star is for the scenery alone. Dining experience would get zero. Disappointing for sure.
I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Food was excellent. Service was perfect. The head chef even came out to introduce himself. Perfect in every way.
We just had a great team offsite here. Our guides Ed and Tyler brought us on a tour of Arches, and later in the day some of us went on a short hike closer to the ranch. In November the weather was cool and we had the whole place to ourselves.
Sorrel River Ranch has it all. It is a quiet escape with plenty to do--on or off property. The staff go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and that you have everything you need. The people are kind, the food is good, the hiking opportunities are endless, the views are beyond incredible, the horseback riding with Charlie, Diane, and George is fantastic, and the place is peaceful as you can end the day with a lovely campfire and so many stars. It's not a question if you go, it's when and for how long.
Great food and view on the Colorado River. We stopped here for lunch only. We were the only customers eating lunch, but it was intimate and the food was wonderful. We could have eaten in Moab with the tourists but this was a far better choice.
Fantastic setting but horribly overpriced. Not even so much in terms of the absolute level of the room prices, but more so as every meal and activity is charged as an extra, at simply exorbitant rates. E.g. $1,500 to go on a guided hike, as just one example.
Spectacular location, live music was really fun with Peggy singing old western songs, and smores by the camp fire was a big hit with our son. The restaurant had personal and friendly service -- it was everything and more than we'd hoped for.
My husband and I stayed at SRR for three nights. Every staff member went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. We both got a massage at the spa which was relaxing and impeccably clean. The River Grill has delicious food and each server was very attentive. The Ranch was a peaceful getaway and went the extra mile to make us feel special. We enjoyed the bottled water and chocolate on our bedside table each day!
Overall, Sorral River Ranch was a great spot for our vacation with a few major flaws you need to be aware of before booking your stay. First, the good, it is in a FANTASTIC location with AMAZING views and friendly staff.
However.... 1) Get ready to be gouged like crazy. Really, both my family and the one we were traveling with were shocked by this one. We expected it a little, but not this much. Get ready to pay $68 for a steak equal in quality to the $9 Outback Special, or $14 for a normal bowl of granola. None of the food options are particularly good and all are outrageously expensive. You can go out to eat but restraunts in Moab are about a 40 min drive away. All the meals we ate in town where delicious and reasonably priced.
Want to ride one of the ranche's horse? No problem, it just costs $100 per person per hour
It's stuff like this that really starts to get annoying after a while and detract from the experience.
2) Be prepared for LOTS of noise in your cabin. One of the things that brought us to the resort is a desire to relax and enjoy the peace. While this was easy to do walking around during the day, the paper thin walls in the rooms make it hard at night. You can hear the TV, talking, footsteps, and toilet flushes of all those around you when trying to sleep. We had 2 rooms which were both super noisy. We where able to change one of them, and the new room was just as bad. Please be prepared for noise.
Overall, the ranch is good. The staff is AMAZINGLY friendly and helpful and added a lot to the experience. We enjoyed our time there and thought the views and activities where worth going for. Its just that for the price, we where disappointed by the noise and very overpriced, underwelming food.
For $850 a night, I expected a high-end, customer-service driven resort. Instead, we received a room that was not daily cleaned and garbage left in the hallway for 2 days by another guest. Torn garbage bags with garbage strewn in the entry way to our room was not the type of experience I was anticipating.
While the location is spectacular, the experience is not worth the money.
UPDATE - May 2015 was told there will be action and followup. Nothing in almost 11 months...Great going Mr Manager!!
Horrible staff. Had a horse back riding accident, and they didnt own upto it. Saddle was never setup right and slid off the horse mid way through. Their response was luke warm to say the least, had to ask for ice, first aid kit, wouldnt write an incident report, Really insensitive - wanted to put it under the rug. I will be taking them to BBB. Will not recommend to anyone ever!
I come here about once a year. The hotel staff are awesome and let us use their green firled to land parachutes in after skydiving over Castle Valley. Bar staff is always friendly and I love the fire pit!
A bright new era has come! Over the past 21 weeks, I was privileged to assist in reorganizing the processes and tools to transition the resort to an upscale level. New Culture, Long term vision Refresh product, remodelling of the staff housing, new mercantile store and ... A brand new management team hired by a well seasoned professional who passionately builds, daily, the Ranch experience for his team and the guests.
Great location with amazing views and decent food. But, for the price you pay you expect top notch luxury and service. I felt the place lacked both. We were left to lug our luggage to our room in total darkness and the room is quite far from the parking lot. Glad the place is off my bucket list by staying just one night.
Without question the best, most hard working staff I have ever encountered at a ranch/resort. My family of 20 and I stayed during the summer of 2018, and 24/7 the staff went the extra mile to make sure we all had a great vacation.
We had a fantastic experience at The River Grill at Sorrel Ranch. The setting on the river is phenomenal. The food was fantastic. Yes, a little on the spendy side, but worth it. I had the lamb and my wife had the duck. Both were perfectly prepared. The menu is not extensive, but has enough variety for most. Worth the drive out from Moab, especially for a special occasion.
Stayed for a quick long weekend get away. From the accommodations to the friendly staff, could not have had a better 4 days. There are so many things to do here we will be back to spend more time. Thanks Andy, Max and Jeff for an action pack stay!
If you are looking for a 5 star experience in the rugged, beautiful desert of Utah then look no further then the Sorrel River ranch. You have all the activities you will ever need available at the resort and gourmet food when you arrive tired from a long day.
What a wonderful stay, serene, quiet lovely.great staff excellent Resturant. Really enjoyed just being along side the river. Waking up to such beautiful blue skies and the red rock!!
I wish I could give this place 25 stars. The entire staff was so accommodating and welcoming that it blew my mind. Adam, the server at the restaurant is so great. He made us feel welcome and suggested great food. Shelly, the woman who runs the greenhouse is awesome in her own right. Ngoni was an exceptional host the 3 nights we stayed. And Andy was an amazing manager as well. My wife and I have nothing but great things to say about this place!!!!
My wife and I recently returned from our third trip to Sorrel River Ranch in Moab. This one was extra special. Coming from NYC we were both stressed out. Days later we floated out of there feeling renewed. Being immersed in the extreme rugged beauty of the landscape combined with the luxury of the ranch, in no time the stressed melted away. Whether you are into back country adventure, extreme sport or you just want to explore the natural wonder in the nearby National and State Parks or take a scenic horseback back ride back at the ranch on the beautiful and well-trained horses, Moab is the place for you. Personally my wife and I would stay nowhere else but Sorrel. What s better after an exhilarating day of slick rock biking, hiking, rafting or repelling, then to come back to our spacious cabin with private porch sitting on the banks of the Colorado River. A wonderful place to relax and then make your way to the spa for much needed massages and time in the sauna. Feeling refreshed and hungry what better way to wrap up a perfect day then with a refreshing cocktail at the Epic bar and dinner of home grown organic veggies and perfectly cooked rack of lamb at the River Grill all located on the ranch. Topped off by an evening stroll along the Colorado. Didn t pay much attention to the family activities on the Ranch, of which there are many, but we did stop by the nightly campfires for smores. There certainly is something for everyone in this enchanted land. Almost forgot to mention a very import part of the ranches charm, the service is impeccable!
We had the best vacation ever!!! The ranch is so incredibly beautiful, the staff is so super friendly, the food is amazing and the lodges peaceful and beautiful. I wouldn't change a thing! Thank you all of you (especially Dianne, Susan, Laura and Danielle) for welcoming us in this personal and engaged way and for making making our stay so wonderful! We will definitely be back!
My stay at Sorrel River Ranch was nothing short of fantastic. The food was unbelievably fresh, farm to table style. All of the staff went above and beyond to make sure they were accommodating. The activity and adventure guides were confident and made me feel safe under all circumstances. The room and views were phenomenal, clean, and updated. Sorrel is definitely the place to stay when in Moab. Can't wait for my next trip back.
My boyfriend and I visited Sorrel this weekend seeking a place we could escape the city and enjoy some alone time. We had an amazing time! The scenery and staff surpassed our expectations. Our room was a cozy yet chic cabin that had a romantic quality to it. Whether it was the rustic chandelier over our bed, the claw foot tub big enough for two, or the amazing river front view, we felt like we were in heaven. The Ranch is a perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts or people that just want an off the grid vacation.
We stayed at SRR last Spring. During our stay we met Oliver, who was there as a consultant to help the property to improve operations. When we left we hoped that his work would help as there were opportunities for improvement. Last Friday we called to make a reservation. Luis at the front desk said that he would have reservations call us back. By mid-day Monday we had heard nothing so decided to call. At that point the nightly rates had increased by 20%, over $1000 per night for the basic double mesa view room. We asked if they would honor the rate which we called about on Friday. We figured they would gladly welcome us back as return quests. No, that was not the case. We were told that was not possible in a very smug and arrogant way. So I replied, sorry that we will not be able to make Sorrel River Ranch a regular escape for our family. Now after reading about a $200/night resort fee we surely won't be back. If the only advice you all learned form hiring a "best in the industry" consultant was to jack up your rates, charge a resort fee, act as arrogant as you can towards gusts, then you need to start over. Unfortunately, the reservation person said she would ask her general manager to contact me and that never happened and there is no info for these people on your website. So, this is the best way to give you feedback. Hopefully it puts some pressure on you to step up as recent reviews are terrible. You are now just a 3 star experience in our book.
I had an amazing time at the ranch. First of all, the food was out of this world. The farm to table mentality ensures the finest cuisines for each guest. Next, the rooms were well kept and had amazing views of the beautiful landscape around us. A cleaning room came promptly each morning to change towels, tidy up, etc. Additionally, the different activities offered are endless! We were able to keep busy while having a great time, the staff was so kind as well!
We paid over 600 per night. Our bed was as hard as a rock, thus we did not sleep well at all for 4 nights. I think they use the cheapest, hardest mattresses they can find. I have slept more comfortably at a Super 8. Also, the sheets had a layer of grit on them three first night. The floor was also filthy so that the soles of my feet turned dark brown/black. I supposed to receive a call from a manager to set things right, still waiting. Not worth the money.
