Our stay at Sorrel River Ranch was as delightful as we had anticipated. My friends stayed there back in July and posted about how wonderful their experience was so I planned my mini fall adventure based on their experience. We had a wonderful time exploring Moab and the room and stay at Sorrel was as perfect as it could be. Waking to the sunny sight of the fall leaves along the Colorado River was only matched by the dark evening sky slight up by the campfire and twinkling stars.... so many stars.... It was wonderful. The dining was outstanding as well.

Absolutely beautiful venue and setting but the food and service were a huge disappointment. The relationship between the high price you pay to stay here and the lack of high quality food and service was shocking. If they can get that figured out, the setting can't be beat in the Moab area.

The second visit to this resort over the past five years. Each visit has left us disappointed. The staff isn t well trained. For the resort prices I think the level of quality high end service is lacking and the attention to detail. It took a half hour to get a drink which the waitress had to make since there was no bartender working. Our meal ( salmon and steak was tasty but very salty) the fresh bread was divine. It was pricey and the value to me comes from the entire experience.

Another fantastic resort on the green river banks near Moab. I have been to the Neighboring red cliff lodge few times in the past. They both are great resorts. Sorrel is twice the price, as they have some additional amenities eg pony rides, tennis court etc. While I am happy to give 5 star rating for this resort, I would say it is pricey at 900 per night. Also red cliff lodge has slightly better views with river bend where the resort is with a steep cliff next to you. Both have magnificent views.

Sorrel River Ranch is a must go! First and foremost, the scenery is unmatched. Located right on the Colorado River and surrounded by towering mesas, it is a place like no other. The accommodations are luxurious, food is delicious, and the staff are willing to assist by any means necessary. The experiences they offer, whether it is white-water rafting, UTVing through canyons, mountain biking near Arches National Park, or driving jeeps down 40 degree rocky declines, are once in a lifetime. I could not have asked for anything more out of my trip! Already planning my next visit to Sorrel!

My boyfriend took me to this property last week for a mid week getaway treat. The location is amazing! Along the Colorado river, stargazing at night. Entertaining activities during the day. Forgot our wranglers name, but that was a really terrific experience. Unfortunately the dining was the polar opposite; breakfast took so long and was not great. Our server was nowhere to be found and the coffee was warm. The breakfast was a really poor start to the day. We opted to go into town for other meals, which were better than what we had at the resort.

It was a magic trip. the place is really beautiful.
the hotel is expensive but has a good service.
I think that they can have more low prices in the restaurant and more sea food options.
I recommend to the guests inclued the breakfast as soon they reserve the rooms.
they have to remodel the ammeneties : the piscine and the area to play basket and that.

thank you sorrel for everthing.

This is a gem for anyone looking to escape to the red rocks and relax in luxury. The staff is very helpful and excellent. When our original room had a problem, the resort manager immediately upgraded our stay and moved all our belongings for us . The new property manager was great and has lots if premier hotel experience.

Bring your own wine and snacks and delight in happy hour on your porch at dusk. The spa is also worth booking a massage or treatment.

We will be back for our next pampered experience!

This is worth every penny!! You will not be disappointed. Everyone there from manager, to desk attendent, to the servers in the restaurant provided highly professional service. Our family numbered 15 and we stayed 3 amazing days!

Magnificent view, friendly service and delicious food. In our opinion, the restaurant is a half step over slc's HSL. The tuna was fresh and server explained the fishes are sushi graded and flew in. The only thing we didn't believe was the kobe beef patty. There are only 8 restaurants in USA serve real certified kobe beef.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Sorrel Ranch and Spa for 3 nights and it was an amazing experience. We had lunch and dinner at the ranch and the food was amazing!! We also went horse back riding with Morgan and really enjoyed the trails she showed us. Zach gave us a very exciting 4 hour ATV tour. Everyone of the employees was extremely hospitable and kind. Our room had a gorgeous view of the Colorado river and we spend many hours just sitting on the deck watching the rafters and wild animals walk by.
The final night we spend attending the Cowboy BBQ which was held in their Homestead Garden...it was a perfect setting for our last evening.
We would highly recommend this property for your next stay. We certainly will be back.

4.5 stars. Staff is super friendly. Lots of fun stuff to do, especially if you love hikes or outdoors type stuff. Beautiful scenery. I love everything about this place except the prices. Highly recommend.

Sorrel River Ranch was magnificent! The location - alongside the banks of the majestic Colorado river and between two imperial mesas - was, in a word, robust. The dining room is superbly located to take advantage of the views - reminding me at every meal that I truly was in God's country. The amenities were top notch and the hotel did a great job of coordinating activities like paddleboarding, horseback riding, canyoneering and more! The staff at the hotel (specifically Clay, Kimesha, Ollie and Dan) was engaged, kind, funny and always very helpful. I was also impressed by the quality of the food at the restaurant, where my favorite dish was the lemon pasta. The hotel also recently added JJ's Mercantile, a convenience store-cum-bakery, where we could stock up on snacks before a long day's hike. Thank you Sorrel River Ranch for an amazing stay.

Fabulous food, wait staff is a little prissy. We came in motorcycle gear and got completely ignored by three waiters. Only five tables seated in the whole restaurant and waiting for thirty minutes to get water and place our orders. If the food wasn't so Great they wouldn't be getting the rating they got. Beautiful location. Disappointed in the wait staff.

unfortunately there are not more than 5 stars available here. A ranch like in a movie in the middle of the stonedesert next to the colorado. coming as foreigners, leaving as friends. stayed there in 2009 with a german biker group for breakfirst and it was one of those perfect days. Standing there in front of the ranch, thinking about John Wayne and those 50 Western movies who were filmed there. Just breathtaking.

Already the journey from Moab (30
Minutes!) Is spectacular, the ranch was great. Staff is super nice, food in the restaurant with the best we had on our tour of California, Utah and Nevada. Fresh, modern ingredients, really well cooked! Could eat 3 evenings in a row there without something repeats itself. Good wine selection!

Activities offer is extremely diverse, but also extremely expensive. (Hiking) Excursions to the Arches and / or Canyonlands NP can be done just fine ... With riding we did not like that, but looked great! Pool area is ok!

Room is generous, beds for the children in the upper floor. Luxuriously equipped. There is nothing to moan. Except: our bed squeaked crazy doll with every movement and that could probably not be fixed ... That is a bit weak in the prices, so a point deduction!

Beautiful place with incredible nice staff. Arrived here by accident after a visit to Arches national park. Ridden over a beautiful driveway between the meadows with horses to the ranch. Upon entering the chic entrance we told that we were not guests, but that we only wanted to drink coffee. No problem was the answer. Fresh coffee was made and we got another can on the table to refill. After we had recovered I asked for the bill, but was not allowed to pay anything. Not even after insisting. What a hospitality!

Incredible experience! 4 days 3 nights, a great end to our 10 days in Utah. Our compliments to the chefs as the food was amazing! The staff was so pleasant from check in, to dining as well as horseback riding and ATV. The views were spectacular! Nice ending to our stay with the BBQ, so fun, Peggy was great and once again the food did not disappoint. Special shout out to Adam, Zach and Morgan for exceptional customer service! We ll be back!
Only opportunity is your website does not do the property or experience justice...It was far more amazing than the site reflected.

A fantastic setting that makes us feel like real cowboys! Soothing setting, beautiful room, the restaurant's dishes are of incredible quality !! (you have to taste the meat to understand). Too bad the site does not put forward this incredible experience.

The Sorrel River Ranch is a gorgeous property set ...

The Sorrel River Ranch is a gorgeous property set along the Colorado River with beautiful views of the red rocks of Southeastern Utah. That said, the property is grossly over-priced given the quality of the food and service. With a room rate of $695, we would have at least expected a complimentary breakfast. Instead, the average cost of breakfast per person was $25-30; dinner entrees averaged $48 PLUS the cost of salad ($16) and appetizers averaging $16-24. The service was spotty and the servers poorly trained. Our server one night also tended bar and therefore our needs were poorly served; further, the server didn t know wines from Kool-aid. On our first night, the alarm over our bed started chirping with ever-increasing frequency and noise. We called the front desk repeatedly from 11:40-midnight with no response. Ultimately, my husband stood on a chair on top of the bed and removed the battery. When we reported this in the morning, the response we received was Interesting. We would not recommend this property to friends.

Hotel with farm in front of great scenery. For us the noble variant of El Cabrito, La Gomera. Great starting point for the surrounding national parks. Staff was very accommodating. Overall not very cheap. There was no stove in the room but a microwave.

Destination Wedding! They changed the chef last minute and the food was fine not great. Nothing like the tastings. The reception room was insanely hot so no one could use the dance floor. All in all they did not have it together for our big day. Think twice before you book.

The staff was super helpful in accommodating our large groups many needs. The rooms are spectacular and the resort is beautiful! The restaurant on site was great at dinner time, but service was sub-par during breakfast. Room service and boxed lunches we're excellent.

Great place to stay. Food was great. Accommodation was very nice. However the resort fee at $200/night was a rip off, especially since the "free" activities were mostly oriented toward young children. Without the resort fee and a more reasonable nightly rate, I'd rate 5/5, but the cost is just too high.

When our plans changed at the last minute I called the ranch to book a horse back ride for my 7 year old daughter. The ride was booked but they offered my daughter a ride in the corral. It was perfect for her. She also watched Rebecca saddle up 6 horses for the ride later in the day. Rebecca was kind and patient answering my daughters questions. It was a terrific way to spend 2 hours. Thank you.

The ranch us in a beautiful location on the Colorado River set back from the highway and surrounded by red rock cliffs. Our meeting space featured wonderful views to the river, and the food service never distracted from the meeting. A good Wi-Fi signal was definitely a bonus from a business point of view. I would definitely meet here again.

Tried to confirm a reservation at their base rate of $649.00 with resorts fees for total of $921. for a 15 hour overnight driving through.. asked for a hundred dollar consideration which was their dog fee.. said keep the dog bed treats etc ( one dog is a certified seizure alert service animal) nope they have high vacancy but not waiving that hundred bucks..so they can keep their empty room and not get paid anything..owners or some corporate empty suit , who knows..move on..

Disclaimer: This review should NOT prevent anyone from booking at Sorrel. The location and vistas are beyond amazing. There are also a number of very friendly staff. With some small (yet diligent) effort Sorrel could become a 3 star experience. However, some very real effort would be required to bring Sorrel into the 4 category.
Like many have stated, the food is arguably the most disappointing feature of the Sorrel experience. It s not so much that the food is overpriced, it s more a matter of quality. Even if they cut the food prices in half it would not make the food any more appealing. Breakfast is the exception. Lunch and dinner options I would rate 2 out of 5. Breakfast would be a 3.5 out of 5. This, along with a complete overhaul of the lodging situation would be the two key areas Sorrel would have to address to get into the overall 4 out of 5 category.
Simply put, the rooms are uncomfortable, outdated, and have very few features. The sheets and bedding are a 2 out of 5 at best..
To make matters worse, there just didn t seem to be any management or leadership on premise. For instance, we stayed 2 nights, and 3 days, during that time, the trash cans outside the bungalows were never emptied. Trash was overflowing, and piled up around the cans. Not a good look. I don t see anyway that a capable management would permit this. All in all, i would put the nightly rate at Sorrel around $275-350. There is no doubt they could command a higher rate with some vigorous overhauling.

Sorrel River Ranch is truly an amazing, wonderful, special place in the middle of some of the most wonderful nature you can dream of. My husband and I travel all over the world and have been in a lot of luxury places, and I can say with no doubt that Sorrel Ranch is truly one of the most wonderful places we have ever been to. We spent a week there and every day we were humbled and inspired by the beauty and majesty of nature, the kindness of the staff, the quality of the food, the comfort we were so lucky to enjoy. The staff pampered us in any possible way, very discretely and yet present and immediately responding to any request we may have: from an advice for a trip or an excursion to our dietary requirements. If you are a vegetarian, you may know how difficult it is to find sophisticated and varied dishes even in 5 stars resorts. Every day we had a different choice and the quality was excellent with fresh vegetables from their garden! What struck me the most was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff : they made us feel completely at home, while respecting our privacy and need for rest. If what you are looking for is stunning nature, adventure and relaxation at the same time, this is the place to go: every day you can choose one or the other, or the combinations of all! I would recommend a corner balcony view at the end of the property, from which you can see an amazing sunrise every morning! We will surely be back!

It was our last stop on our Utah tour. We just wanted to relax, but still have some action. Our expectations were met. Great reliable service, great food and great rooms with a view of the Colorado River. We could indulge ourselves by the pool and pound through the canyon with UTVs.
They were very well advised in the leisure center. Every request was met and nothing had to be done.
The prices were accordingly expensive, but I think you can do that for such a service!
Thank you for this vacation!

Dreamlike landscape, the Colorado River that flows behind the ranch ... it's definitely worth spending a few nights in this beautiful place, lost in the gorges and canyons of the Canyonlands. Excellent location for visiting the parks of Arches, Dead Horse Point and the Canyonlands in general.

Beautiful location for the Moab Music Festival concert. I highly recommend sitting in the grass rather than under the pavilion you ll still have great acoustics but it s much cooler.

Wine was very expensive and not great. $12 per glass for Beringer White Merlot. Definitely a scenery surcharge.

Wow !! What a place. The scenery is something to behold. There's lots of activities, the food is fantastic, the staff does everything possible to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. Aside from sightseeing surrounding canyons, the UTV experience was really cool. Highly recommend this place and will definitely revisit, given the opportunity.

My wife and i had read online that the road where Sorrel River Ranch is on, is one of the most beautiful roads in the world. When we arrived there the beauty took us by surprise, it was like being in the middle of a National Park. The resort has a wonderful balance of luxury and elegant simplicity, feeling true to it's awesome location. What amazed us is that the beauty is in every direction that you look. On one side of our room we had the Colorado river, with a background of the awesome canyons (see photo of sunrise from our room) and on the other side these majestic mesas. The staff also surprised us as their disposition was a reflection of the setting, with a rare combination of professionalism and friendliness, that i have not seen in so many of the luxury resorts i go to. This is truly a place to regenerate, and to experience the wondrous beauty of nature.

We were stranded in a raft in a whirlpool on the Colorado River and the staff of Sorrel River Ranch treated us as kindly as their own children. The guest services manager Conner helped pull us out, gave us a ride to our vehicle and had his engineer take care of our raft. The sheer goodness of these people should give you an idea of the quality of the staff if Sorrel River Ranch.

The Rsnge is wonderfully quiet and the service is very good. The people here are very friendly and the climate along the river is pleasant. The food in the restaurant was fine, but in relation to the price quite on the expensive side. However, no reason to put the amount of stars below 5

Sorrel River Ranch is a short ride from downtown Moab. To me the land surrounding Moab is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The ranch house and cabins sit directly on a majestic curve of the Colorado River, surrounded by rock cliffs in colors and shapes that instantly relax and invigorate. This is our third visit and I am stunned all over again by the beauty of this spot. If you re ready for an adventure rock climbing, repelling, horseback riding, hiking, river rafting, taking the Jeep into the canyon, down switchbacks and along riverbeds it s all within shooting distance of SRR. I never tire of returning to the intimacy and luxury of their main house and cabins. Our suite has a sophisticated Western sensibility and is as comfortable as home. The spa is my happy place after a dusty day on the trail. This time I joined morning yoga (loved it!) and had a first-class massage and facial. Did I mention the restaurant? Delightful, welcoming service and delicious local-sourced cuisine they have their own greenhouse garden on-site! When I need a moment to regroup, I love to visit the stables or watch the horses play in the corral. It s an experience I highly recommend.

TL;DR: I love to drive. I LOVE IT. So this was a dream of a fun drive for me into Moab on a winding, trip of a road into town. But if you don't want to drive, know that it is 20 minutes on a wild road, next to a river. Simply put, the room rate is slightly too high here, and it's not necessarily the level of luxury they market themselves at. But they are eager and the place is spectacular, if you can mentally prepare to pay a bit too much, simply because there aren't that many other "nice" options in the area. Rest of review: I work in the industry and mean no harm! =) I know how hard it must be to staff out there, and I understand the room rate is based off location, coupled with the services offered at the property... but it is a spendy property for the level of service achieved. I am all about value, and I have to be frank that I will drop multiple thousands on a room if there is value at that level of luxury. Think Aman resorts. The large suite was fantastic, room service was wonderful and quick, the food was quite good, too (a rare surprise). It seems pool service is an afterthought, but it's of minor concern. The grounds / maintenance people and the housekeeping were superb... they even helped me get stuff to wash my car prior to departure!! =) But through and through the actual cost of things is surprisingly high, from food to room rate. I respect all they are trying to accomplish, and truly had a wonderful time with the spectacular views of the local landforms... you're basically on the other side of Arches in a mini Monument Valley. But the staffing must be difficult, although the rooms side of the operation had eager and willing, service oriented staff, F&B at the restaurant seemed to have issues. I thought I wanted the river view, but I really wanted the Valley (monument / geologic landforms) view. In the end, we did the suite and got both. =)

Sorrel River Ranch is a truly magical place to stay. My wife and I stayed here in October 2018. We couldn't have been happier. Heres some of my highlights!

- The rooms are all gorgeous. You can tell by my attached room photos that it truly looks just like the photos online. Coming from NY where everything is modern and simple, this is such a nice breath of fresh air. The rooms all have character, making our stay even more special. The views from the rooms are incredible!
- We've stayed in many beautiful locations such as Bora Bora, Hawaii, and more..... and I find the views and ambiance of SRR to be on par with locations such as these. The views on the drive heading to the ranch on Utah 128 are like nothing I have ever seen before. You can understand why so many movies and shows pick this location! (Westworld, etc etc). See attached pic of a TASTE of the gorgeous views of the drive! I also LOVE how the ranch has so many benches and chairs riverside. I personally found myself sitting riverside whenever I had downtime. I even sat riverside on my laptop answering emails and the WiFi worked perfectly!
- The food at the onsite restaurant, River Grill, is excellent. Their menu is simple, yet has items that can make anyone happy. Amazing farm-fresh salads, super fresh steaks, vegetarian options..... what more could you ask for? After dinner, grab a coffee and sit by the fire in the lodge (see pic attached), or take it outside to the fire pit (stocked with all the fixins' for s'mores!) Special shout-out to Dariusz for his amazing barista skills!!!
- The activities at SRR are what make this resort stand out from the rest. Many other resorts outsource all their activities to other vendors etc. SRR handles most of their activities in-house, and they are all spectacular. The staff and guides are always accommodating and ready to make personalized suggestions for what they think you will enjoy most. I personally suggest horseback riding and the UTV tours (see photo). Horseback riding will take you through the mesa's across the street from the ranch and the views are unbelievable. The UTV tour takes you farther (and faster) around the surrounding area, and be prepared to get dirty! (Thats the best part). Also make sure to check out the barn area, lots of cool animals that are so friendly! You can tell they are well-cared for, they are happy and always interested in saying hi!

All-in-all, we know for sure that we will be returning to Sorrel River Ranch. If you are contemplating visiting Moab,UT, it should be a no-brainer to stay here!

Total rip off, take your money elsewhere! You get no value for your dollar here and it is EXPENSIVE. There's a place next door that has the same views, go there. I know that Sorrel River Ranch has been receiving some bad reviews and thus are working hard to change, but this place was born to squeeze every penny out of its guest and giving very little value in return. It is not an authentic dude ranch, it was born from a developer in a suit putting his finger on his chin and muttering, "Now how can we make this place look western?"

Thank you Connor and Patrick! You are true gentlemen. Thank you Sorrell Ranch for hiring men of high caliber to be on your team! What a beautiful luxury ranch! You will not be disappointed.
