Sonny's Pizzeria Review

Much busier for a Monday night than we expected but, the FOOD and Staff were amazing! Thanks Katie you were great!

We are VERY loyal Sonny's Pizzeria customers and order all the time. We love the food, the staff, and everything about it. Up until tonight I would highly recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience tonight that has me thinking about whether or not we will return. It was a staff issue, not a food issue.

It's not great food, but it's definitely good. It's also a bit pricey. $6-$9 for a beer.

Wonderful location, fantastic view of the ocean out the windows of the upper level. The appetizer plate was delicious, my group got the Munchie Basket - a nice variety of fried foods, but not your normal fried foods. We had mozzarella sticks and cheese curds on top of a blanket of fries. A nice change from the normal platter you find at other places. The stuffed pizza arrived to our table shortly after. The pepperoni pizza tasted like grape juice, at least my slices did. But I m not talking like a subtle hint of grape, or grape notes, I mean like my slices - according to my group JUST MY slices - must have been baptized in gallons of Welch s white. There was a cat stuck in the rocks outside. Friendly wait staff. Spacious booths.

Nice view of the bay but the pizza buffet for lunch was not enjoyable. It needs serious improvement.

The food and service is always great. I do miss the Saturday buffet though.

Fantastic stuffed pizza! Shorter than I am used to, but very flavorful, great stringy cheese, and a perfect crispy crust. Highly recommend!

Love the pizza! Service is good, location on the water is always fun to see what's going on in the harbor. Very clean.

Food was good but the service was horrible. We waited about 45 minutes for our food. And this wasn't the first time we waited over an hour last time we went. Not going back! Its not worth the wait.

Participated in a beer and pizza pairing event which was very fun. The pizza was excellent as well as the beer. There was good information and laughs.

There are not enough stars for this place. Best pizza I have ever had in my life. Must go place to eat at in Sturgeon Bay.

I wish we had a place like this around home. We were visiting when we dined here, and we had the best dinner! Pasta to dream about.

Sorry. Did not like the gluten free pizza at all, and my husband didn't care for the crust on his regular pizza. Prices were high also.

Good variety menu, flavorful, very polite & good staff. Always willing to help.

Good food but DO NOT use delivery. Used to get hot pizzas and now 3 of the last 4 came luke warm at best and the last one was ice cold. They deliver many, many, many pizzas per trip. Unless you live within 2 minutes, don't order for delivery.

Good food huge portions. Great view of the harbor. Great service.

Good food, great views of the bay. Usually crowded on weekend so get there early.

Wilma was a fantastic waitress!! She was so very pleasant and accommodating: really seemed to enjoy what she was doing. Food was okay.

We are always looking to find the best pizza places, this one is high on the list of favorites! Really enjoyed sitting outside and looking over the harbor. Nicole our server was great, which always makes for a better experience!

Always a good place to bring the family for good food. Large portions and good service.

Went on week night cuz weekends are usually extremely busy. Various Italian dishes on menu and all portions are very generous. Will return again.

Great Chicago style pizza in Sturgeon Bay. Monday through Friday the ayce pizza buffet comes with a soft serve bar too. Service is warm and attentive. I highly recommend this place.

Food was pretty good (our group had pizza, salad, pasta) and servings were ample. Service is a bit slow, so make sure you have time to sit down and wait for the meal.

We were part of the trolly tour and this was our sobering lunch destination. The food was good, the service was good and the manager came over to see how we were doing. The only complaint was the temperature of the corner we sat in was HOT. We asked to open the window but it was nailed shut or something and after a few attempts from us and the manager it was just hot. The beer bar in the basement area was really nice.

I had to connect for a conference call, and needed reliable wifi. Sonny's accommodated! The taco salad was great, view amazing, and wonderful, friendly, staff.

The pizza was cold , pretty blah too . They added another pizza that we didn t order so we where charged more .no vegan cheese either even though it s on the menu . The salad was just lettuce with a few tomatoes and unripe avocado don t waste you money . This should be on a episode of kitchen nightmares .

Fun atmosphere, okay food, inexperienced wait staff. Typical tourist joint but I'd probably return because of the atmosphere & view.

We went on a saturday night on labor day weekend, there was a 30-45 min wait (to be expected) so we went outside to enjoy the band outside. Excellent atmosphere. So far, so good. Ordered our pizza, waited 45 min for our food. Okay...its busy so give them a break. Pizza was amazing! We asked for our check, she (Wilma) brought a to go box and asked if we wanted to take the sides too which we said yes. We waited over 30 min and she walked passed us 3 times ignoring us each time. Never recieved our check. We finally walked to the front and checked out, she even saw us and ignored us!!! Its really sad because we were contemplating having our rehearsal dinner here and this experience turned us off. We are not sure if she is just a horrible server or did not like us because of race. Either way, its horrible and we never return.

We came here based on location, and overall outside option. It was seat yourself to an open table on the patio. (Could use more tables outside as well) the table was not cleaned which was fine. We sat there for ten minutes, table still not cleaned or any service. We called another Italian restaurant and were given a reservation immediately. Based on other reviews maybe they had an off night and were a bit surprised. We left and personally would not recommend. Manger might have helped to get a better pulse on areas that need help.

Originally ordered for pickup and switched to dine-in. The food and atmosphere are amazing, and sunsets complete the meal.

This restaurant takes zero precautions in the age of COVID. No face masks, servers serving food while also clearing tables, lack of sanitation of menus/tables, oh and the communal salad bar. Wanted to share so people are aware, we unfortunately realized too late.

First time visitor. Had the buffet for lunch today. There were many slices available, however most been there a while, so not the freshest. When they brought out the fresh stuff it was really good pizza! Small salad bar with 8-10 topping options. Somewhat limited kids menu. Restaurant not too busy (Thursday in the fall around 12:30pm). Waitress not super attentive.

While the pizza looked good it was not made right. And, I m sorry, but if you re going to confirm to me that your product was delivered to the table incorrectly, don t give me an excuse as to why it was incorrect. I m not interested in an excuse, I want what I ordered.
By the way. I got an excuse, the wrong pizza, and charged the full ticket with no concession.
No plans to return and don t recommend. The waitress, Hannah K, should do a better job next time.
A simple solution would ve been to comp the 2 sodas, a simple solution that costs the store nearly nothing at all and 2 guests would ve thought Gee, she handled that nicely, let s order that big dessert for 2.
Instead, I was given an excuse.

The food is ehhh.. when it s cooked right it s edible. The past 3 times I ve gone when I m in Sturgeon Bay it has been sub-par. My daughters chicken was RAW. Not just undercooked but damn near raw. The ribs I ordered were charred and the fries were limp. Who messes up cooking French fries. I understand it was off season. But still unacceptable.. their food was better at the old location. Not sure what changed but it s not for the better. Specially for the price. Save some money and go anywhere else in Sturgeon Bay for a meal.

Some servers wear masks, most don t. Social distancing is not really a thing here.

Plan on just relaxing and not being in a hurry. When sitting outside it can be a little slower. The food is amazing and worth the wait!

Being from Chicago I'm particular about my pizza. Sonny's really delivered. Thier wood fired cherry cobbler was incredible. Very attentive staff as well.

Lunch was eh.

Pizza buffet was a good value, but wasn't that good. The crust was floppy, and it was a little greasy. Toppings did not taste fresh. One of us got a chicken sandwich, which was "the worst she ever had".

Our server was an expressionless zombie and looked burdened to serve us.

If you want a lot of food for not too much money and some great views, this is the place for you. But if you're looking for a good lunch, look elsewhere.

Amazing pizza!! Great view and staff!! Sonny s Special pan pizza was excellent! Cheese garlic bread was also great. Large portions and a great value!

The dishwasher had broken and none of the staff knew what to do, so all of the dishes were dirty.

Long lines. They don't allow you to order an appetizer if you're waiting for a table at the bar(a little ridiculous) not Chicago style but still good food!

AMAZING pizza!! We ordered online and showed up early. We were glad we didnt want to eat there because it was so so busy. There was at least a 45 min wait for a table. I still would have waited that for how good to food was.

We have been to Door County twice now. Back to back years and Sonnys is a place to go when we get here. A beer and pizza to get ready for our vacation.

Decent place. We came in for dinner last night. Wasn't too busy. Good food. Service was less than desirable. We were sat. Then left to sit. While the manager and staff bused tables. No one brought us drinks. We sat for 10 minutes then our waitress showed up. Given that the manager watched us sit, bused three tables, didn't acknowledge us sitting, and waiting demonstrates the absence of understanding that guests need to taken care of.

Great pizza. Took it to go and it travels good. Bartender was awesome. Looking forward eat here again.

A local recommended the restaurant. He was right, great spot.

Food and service were excellent. Temperature in the restaurant was freezing.

Great food, great views and a great staff what else could you ask for?? Visiting from Kentucky the food was fast and delicious the Coors were as cold as the Rockies of Colorado. Nicole took such great care of us we visited twice and both were great experiences!

Awesome place for pizza and pasta with a good beer selection!!!
