Sonny's Pizzeria Review

Ordered a deep dish here and was dumbfounded at what came out to the table. It was hardly cooked through, and was basically a ton of partially cooked dough with a regular pizza on top.

That was by no means a Chicago style deep dish - didn't even come close. I did come here years ago before they moved locations, and ordered a regular pan pizza and it was superb...so maybe just avoid the deep dish.

On top of the uncooked faux deep dish, we decided to order a couple of can Miller lites because they were on a $2 special....except when they came to the table the bartender had poured them in glasses, and you could tell they were totally outdated. I confirmed this later when another customer inquired about getting some of the $2 cans to go (so she could have some beers for the packer game) and the waitress said no problem, the owners just trying to get rid of this stuff.

Just a very skeezy thing to even attempt. I'd at least tell everyone we have $2 old expired beer...

Our waitress was really nice and courteous, and the rest of the experience was positive. It's a really great location with excellent views!

I have ordered multiple times online and on phone and order is wrong every time to the advantage of the owners, never given something extra, always shorted and overcharged. Food is mediocre at best...but this is one of the few delivery places in town, save your money and go/cook something else.

We drive 30+ min one a month sometimes more. The pizza is wonderful I love the sauce. You have 3-4 choices of pizza style. They have a large selection of italian dishes too. Beautiful view of the bay and cove.

We waited and waited as the sign said "please wait to be seated". Three employees looked at us but said nothing. We could see only 4 customers in the whole place and the employees were mostly just standing around. We checked to see if they were closing, nope. We left, obviously didn't want our money.

First meal during my first visit to Sturgeon Bay and couldn't be more pleased. Excellent food and great service.

Its decent. Can be hit or miss to say the least. I guess its okay for your typical food. Last time i had a pizza my friend from new york and i got the tummy rumbles.

Fun place, attentive staff, love eating outdoors weather permitting.

Sonny's catered our wedding at a alternate location and the food was absolutely amazing! They provided friendly staff to serve, had all the steam tables/warmers to keep the food hot and there was plenty of food for ours guests! The only downside was slow communication and the fact that we ordered a meal for one of our bridal party members with a food allergy and it didn't get sent to our location. Very affordable and tasty!

What a nice place, we eat and drank outside in the tiki bar. The staff was very friendly and great. The prices were reasonable and the food was good.

The food was AMAZING. We went for a little vacation get away and this is where we chose to eat. The waitress was really great with our kids. The only downfall was our friends ordered their pizza and the pizza fell and it took them a while to get their pizza. But other than that the food and service was great!

Usually I love this place their food is so good. Last night I was left highly disappointed. I ordered at 8:50pm my food arrived at 10:35pm. I had been told 9:30pm delivery. My ribs were the bottom of the barrel, there was a hair in my salad, my lettuce was old and limp. The wings I ordered were stone cold and the sauce had leaked all over the bag. There was no one to call to complain because the restaurant closes at 9:30. So no one would answer the phone. It was an absolute waste of $30 and not the sonny standards that I'm used to. I'm assuming workers were upset that an order came in close to closing. However that was no excuse for such poor quality of food!

I ordered a pizza for delivery,show up in 20 minutes hot and fresh!

the price was very exceptable.

So so food. Service was fair. No compelling reason to go back.

Excellent!!! We've been to Door County twice and this was our third time at Sonny's. The calzones are amazing and the buffet filled my family up to overfull. The wings my son had we're good as well.

Stopped there on our visit to door county, service was excellent, and the food was amazing! I ordered the baked chicken marinara pasta bowl, and it was huge enough to last me almost three meals! Would recommend to everyone wanting a delicious Italian dish!!

Good pizza, had the meat lovers Chicago style deep dish. Service was good.

Excellent Buffet.....all you can eat pizza, chicken, salad. Many different kinds of pizza, including desert pizza!! Beautiful view of the water.

I remember the Chicago style pizza I had as a kid growing up in Illinois. Sonny's brings back those childhood memories!! The best pizza I've had in quite a while

Our family goes to Sonny's every time we go to Sturgeon Bay. The pizza is great. They have a good buffet on Saturdays and the sandwiches are good too.

Great food, buffet is loaded with options. Wide variety of drinks as well

I ordered a stuffed pizza for pick up.....get home and the pizza has no tomato sauce on top. I called and was told that is how thier stuffed pizza is made. Nothing like the photos posted by others. Very disappointed.

The fettuccini carbonara is to die for. They give you enough for 3 meals. Very delicious!! Friendly staff too. Reasonable prices considering the huge portions.

Great location on bay..lots of great choices on tap. We didnt eat so cant advise on food

Had pizza buffet and it was good eating. They even had a desert pizza with cherries from Door county. Place was very clean and organized which lead to a great meal and friendly staff. We will be back. Only gave 4 stars because we didn't try anything off the main menu. Easy to find and ample parking.

No employees were wearing masks. Food was awful and our salads had slimy brown pieces in it. Definitely wouldn t recommend going here for a good time because, it was actually the worst pasta I have ever had and the broccoli tasted awful. The host itches her nose and handed us our food as if there isn t a pandemic going on. Not covid friendly so if you prefer that don t go here.

best value here is the "all you can eat buffet!" ...not a fan of their home deliver because this place,hasn't figured out a good way to keep it hot by the time it reaches my home!

Food and service was excellent. Portion size was HUGE! Come hungry.

Todays visit was the best. Had the lunch buffet. Everything was hot and fresh. The salad bar had plenty to choose from. Only thing wrong was the a/c was to much, glad I had my sweatshirt with me.

When you ask anyone in Sturgeon Bay for a good place to eat with outdoor seating and a view, they will tell you Sonny's. We loved it there. It was a nice day and watching the boats was such a joy. The pizza and Italian food was all tasty and came quickly. I would recommend this.

Great pizza!!! Good service, prices were affordable. The atmosphere was enjoyable. Requested a seat OUTSIDE. Perhaps I should have specified OUTDOORS, and on the covered deck. Other than that, everything was spot on.

Great food, great prices, great staff. If I return to the area I would for sure come back to this place.

Amazing thin crust pizza. Bartender and waitstaff were friendly and welcoming. Good drinks. Georgeous view of the water and marina. Fun games for the family. Highly recommended.

The pasta was overcooked...the past was cooked with not salt.. the margherita pizza was too thick and not cook..ask before you order..... not social distance...the server no use mask...the table are not 3 ft a part....risk covid 19 very hight.

Awesome food and environment. We order some Alfredo pizza and jumbo shrimp both are good and especially the environment is excellent we enjoyed a lot.

The food was subpar and super salty. My biggest concerns were that they had an open salad bar where people were serving themselves with the same utensils. Also MANY of the wait staff were walking around without masks or walking around eating. We sat near the kitchen and could see how dirty it was. The bartender at the brewery downstairs flat out said there is no mask policy. I would NEVER recommend this place. If you re concerned about COVID don t go here. It was a scary experience.

Food was mediocre, service was lacking. Literally only two staff members were wearing a mask and the tables were not seated in any attempt to socially distance. Had I known all of this before I ordered my food I wouldn t have placed my order.

Staff was friendly, pizza was tasty for DC (from Chicago, so it's hard to beat). Prices are great. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing pizza! We frequently get the Sonny s Special and Old Chicago, but all of their pizza is quite good.

Always has amazing food options, great for celebrations and get togethers. Amazing view of the water as well!

We ordered a pizza to go and it was delicious! I wanted cherry pie and was pleasantly surprised that they had that too!

We arrived on a Saturday night right at 6 pm - the busiest time for any restaurant. The single hostess handled the arrival of guests and waiting on take-out orders very well. We were told the waiting time for a table was 10 minutes and we waited less than 10 minutes to be seated.
We had a bright and friendly waitress, who commented it was busier than expected at Sonny s. The waitress suggested the buffet to us and even though we ordered entrees from the menu, we still went to check the buffet out. Sonny s buffet is a little on the small side with a selection of a dozen fruits/veggies, 3-4 different pizzas and half dozen other items like mash potato and chicken. The dinner buffet is offered for only $ 9.99 - which is a great value. Considered Sonny s was busy, the buffet didn t lack of anything and every tray was filled.
Our fried pizza and calzone were good and our daughter loved the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The portions were generous and we ended up with leftovers from all 3 meals.

Decided we liked the Italian meals so we came back 2 days later and tried their pizza.

Nice atmosphere. Delicious chicken and french fries, but the buffalo shrimp ordered with mild sauce is NOT mild enough, so beware. The garlic bread is tasteless. It could use some garlic. The desserts are a waste of time and money. We were disappointed with them. Our waitress was great, could find no fault with her at all. All in all, the food is good, just forget about dessert or go to something they call The Holey Cow downstairs to check it out. I wish we had. We will go again though, since over all, we did like the place.

We have always enjoyed Sonny's over the last 15 years, and I like the Sonny's Special pizza.

We were disappointed. Had the SW salad. Dressing tasted "watered down ". Soda was pricey snd no offer for refills. We also had the chicken sandwich. Over-fried and dry. $30 later and we left hungry.

A lot of good food for the price. No reservations so wait could be long.

I'm so happy with the quality of food sonnys has to offer. We had them cater a party for us and the food was amazing and made the party amazing. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area!

It makes me sad to say that one of my favorite places has lost the love in what they do. i order from here quite a bit. the delivery is fast but thats about the only good thing I can say anymore. the food quality has gone way down. i order pretty close to the same thing almost every time and it never fails they always forget something most of the time it is the side salad or breadstick that is suppose to come with my food my pasta dish is very mushy and mostly sauce and its more watered down each time. i also got the kids mac and cheese and it looks like kraft straight from the box and its the smallest portion for $5. And of course they forgot my side salad again. I have stayed a loyal customer for a long time but I will be taking my business elsewhere for a while
