Very good location, extremly nice team, history and royals connected place. I have very good experience with both classic and luxury rooms. Breakfast buffett was also nice and tasty. Evenings some live music at the bar, fresh and lovely flower decoration.
Nice Hotel with good service but you can tell it has been used for quite a while.
The carpet is not as clean as you would expect it in a 5 Star hotel.
Bathroom is nice but also from another century with a pretty worn out bathtub.
The location is really perfect. You can walk down to the Opera House in less then 10 minutes.
Breakfast is cheaper when pre-booked but was really busy (I guess because of the time between Christmas and New year's).
I would recommend to go here yes but please consider the age of the inside of the roof when you compare it with other 5 star hotels.
Excellent place to visit and dinner. Worth it to come back!!
Gorgeous venue, and very good food and drinks for a large function. Events staff were friendly.
Nice room, however could not sleep as my room was right where the lifts are and could hear the lift motors all night.
I really enjoyed the two night stay. On our first night we had dinner in the restaurant the staff was exceptional & the food was very good. The next morning we had breakfast in the restaurant the variety was amazing compared to other Accor hotels we have stayed at. Location was great and our room was very comfortable.
Conveniently located, rooms were nice although soundproofing isn't the best.
Rooms not clean, service in restaurant really bad. Old and worn rooms. Ok location but that's in the price.
Great location, beautiful room, stellar service from staff.
It was a lovely hotel with a lot of
character.
Appallingly bad service in their lobby bar. They actually required all guests at my table to physically get up and walk to the bar to be served a single drink. These were international guests.
It was humiliating and we left for a local bar.
The bartender was rude as well.
The guests had all been at a conference in the hotel all day.. Probably had 2 drinks in total.
Never again
Parked there for a nearby event, valet attendants were great and unexpected
Had a few functions here before and the food is decent
We went to the kookaburra kids charity ball. The sofitel was an amazing venue
It is certainly not a hotel with 5-star rooms. Small with mini bathrooms
Its a good hotel and you get access to a decent gym
But theres no pool. Its convenient since its close to offices around wynyard and circular quay.
Rooms are okay nothing too great.
Good stay nothing really bad about the hotel, they just need to upgrade the rooms specially for the price they charge
A beautiful hotel in a very convenient location!! Tatiana from the Concierge desk is the most professional I have ever met!! Thank you Tatiana!!
A very disappointing first stay at the Sydney Sofitel Wentworth.
I usually stay at the Intercontinental when I travel to Sydney, but this time I decided to try the Sofitel for a change.
When I arrived and checked into my room, I immediately noticed long hairs all over the bathtub and carpet. There was also powdery red make up or some other substance on the carpet, which stayed there the whole time - so clearly the room was not vacuumed prior to or during my stay. I also found a filthy bathrobe in my wardrobe.
The next morning I was served poached eggs that were cooked through like hard boiled eggs, by a chef at breakfast who was also quite rude to me when I placed the order for eggs. As a result, I cancelled my pre-booked breakfast for the 2 next days.
My shower taps were also faulty. The hot tap wasn t very hot and just dribbled out because the water pressure was so low and whenever I turned on the cold tap even a tiny bit the water stream immediately went cold (as opposed to warm, as you would expect a combination of hot and cold to result in).
I stayed at this hotel for 3 days and made my comments known on the morning of day 1. Although all of the staff I encountered (except for the chef at breakfast) were friendly and pleasant, they obviously couldn t be bothered or didn t consider me important enough of a guest to try to rectify the issues I brought to their attention or even get in touch with me about any of them during my stay. I was told that they would have their engineers look at the taps; but unfortunately this was never done as they remained faulty. As someone else has said here, all of the TV stations were very fuzzy.
When I checked out there was a huge group of airline crew also checking out and yet only 2 reception staff on duty who were really taking their time with no sense of urgency at all. As a result of waiting so long I was then delayed and in rush to make my flight on time.
When I got home I then realised that the hotel had mistakenly charged me for breakfast on the second day as well despite me having cancelled the pre-ordered breakfast for the remaining two days of my stay based on how bad it was on day 1 (I did this in person and also reminded them over the phone). I have emailed the hotel about this but have not yet heard back.
In my opinion, the Sydney Sofitel Wentworth currently does not in any way live up to the standard set by some of the other Sofitels around the world.
As some very good alternatives in the Sydney CBD, which are in a similar price range, I can recommend the Intercontinental up near Circular Quay (the service is spot on, rooms are large and very clean and bright). The Westin is also very good and very centrally located with big comfortable rooms and bathrooms and a great gym. The Sheraton on the Park, again, is excellent.
In addition to posting my feedback here, I have passed on my comments to my company s travel agent to advise other members of our staff if they consider staying here.
It was my partner 40th brithday and I decided to organised a trip to Sydney for the birthday gate away. At the time of booking, Sofitel has the best rate. We have been given a room with a great view. The room is very cosy and modern. We were very thrilled with the birthday surprise by the hotel. A great champaign, sweet strawberry as well as a nice chocolate. Thanks Sofitel.
Classy establishment which allows for an easy catch up. Slightly more expensive than you would normally like for a drink, but the complimentary snacks and nice layout make up for it.
Love the french touch to this, rooms can be small and views are non existent.
Great experience at an upmarket hotel. Went to the restaurant for lunch and had the steak sandwich. Cooked to perfection. The venue is immaculate and the staff are very friendly and attentive
I ve stayed here before and enjoyed my stay, so I booked again. This time I was given a tiny corner room at the back of a hallway overlooking an emergency staircase. There were hairs on the bed, marks on the walls and the TV was so old and blurry you couldn t see it properly. Housekeeping started on my floor at 6.30am, so I was woken up early. The rooms aren t very soundproof at all, you can hear everything. After checking in at 11am and leaving until 4pm, my bag wasn t taken to my room - I had to go to the concierge to get it and they didn t have a record of my name so they had to search the bags.
Room service was extremely expensive with an $8 delivery fee, and the food was cold.
A real disappointment, despite paying for a standard king room, I was just put in their worst room on offer. Not the best when you re travelling for work and always in Sydney. Won t be back anytime soon.
Nice foyer and room, especially the bathroom though a larger bathtub would have been preferred. The bed was actually too soft/collapsing and offered little support. They did surprise us with champagne and strawberries on arrival which was lovely. The main part that was less than ideal was their use of an inefficient hybrid of valet service and a regular car park which was unnecessarily time consuming and expensive for the service offered.
Beautiful rooms & great atmosphere. Staff very friendly
Popped in for a coffee and used their lounges to relax between appointments.
Great service.
Great place to go to if you have the Accord card. I love the souffle there. And the free bread is the best thing in the world
We LOVED staying here during our trip to Sydney! Marcus was the stand out employee during our stay - he truly made our time in Australia extraordinary. If you visit, ask to meet Marcus!!!
Room was fine. Fairly standard. Went for a drink in the bar and waited 30+ minutes for the order to arrive.
Visited the bar downstairs, the staff were friendly, professional and very cheery in general that complimented the atmosphere.
Food was great and the service was exceptional! We'll be trying out their buffet breakfast this week!
Buffet breakfast is always nice here and scraping the honey off the the honeycomb is my fave!
Also been to a Peter Kuruvita dinner that was a truly wonderful event. Each course thought out and well planned.
Convenient location, very welcoming staff. Made our anniversary a very memorable experience
Beautiful place , and friendly staff , loved the club sofitel
Love the location. The room and general hotel decor is a bit drab and in need of a revamp
Lots of French staff at the restaurant to make your meals easier, staff very pleasant in general, except maybe at the front desk. Nice rooms well heated in winter, efficient housekeeping.
The hotel has aged a bit since the 60s, that's for sure, but that's exactly what makes it so charming.
The added bonus is the entrance to the hotel accessible at any time via the Wentworth Gallery with its room card, convenient to return in the evening without having to go around the hotel, quite imposing elsewhere.
Some rooms in the back have a nice view on the Harbor Bridge.
What's missing is the 5-star spirit in the porters, who seem unhappy when they are told Uber instead of "taxis"!
Have been to a few Sofitel hotels now and while this wasn't the best it was certainly comfortable and stylish with the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff that is part of the Sofitel brand. The room was modern and clean and the restaurant and bar looked very nice, the hotel was very busy when we were there hosting a conference however you would hardly even notice which was great and the location was great, easy walk to the Opera House and also The Rocks and train station. My only wish was that it had a swimming pool but not a huge deal.
If you are a French in Sydney Sofitel is a good place to try. It's a little bit expensive but am certainly sure you will enjoy your money.
Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. We really enjoyed the stay here. The club lounge was the favorite
Room was very nice, and well kept. Staff were lovely and attentive. Dinner at the restaurant was quite good although maybe a little overpriced. Breakfast buffet was excellent. A few hiccups as we'd come to take advantage of a promotion, but staff and/or systems repeatedly had trouble recognising the terms of the promotion - had to keep reminding, pay attention to receipts and get invoicing adjusted. Check-in was also delayed by over an hour due to some internal miscommunication, again around the promotion. I imagine if this had been a normal stay there may have not been the same level of confusion.
Clean rooms good service. Rooms could be more modern.
I enjoyed the promotion of the Beauty and the Beast, I came as it was my birthday that day. However, the pillows were very uncomfortable and not enough when there is 3 people in the room. Alot of errors were happening and things trying to be added although in the package it shouldn't have been and I had to keep clarifying it which I didnt like to do and felt uncomfortable at times alot.
Above and beyond I'm so glad we discovered them will be coming back
Good location, great hotel, food can definitely be better to match the 5* level
Nice hotel, great location close to Sydney opera house, to Westfield CBD, close to restaurant and cafes, friendly staff, good service, bed and pillows are very comfortable. No complaints definitely recommended for everyone to try it.
Location vice, very good. Just a stones throw away from Sydney shopping mayhem, Opera house and harbour.
Little oldish decor inside, but ok all together.
Staff is extra nice and professional.
One of the best hotels in Sydney! Love the reception area. All staff are professional and efficient.
My go to hotel for all my business trips to Sydney.
The lobby provided a wonderful welcome home feeling. Being placed on the 9th floor facing the street didnt leave views to be desired but that's to be expected. I was working late with no time to spare, so ordered room service. The burger was simple and overpriced which cost $49. $35 burger, $3 for cheese, $3 for bacon, and $8 to deliver (it's in the same building, this is disgraceful and insulting). They didnt even get it right the first time. I really wish I had decided to get Uber Eats delivered instead. The rooms felt very small to me, and the decor is very outdated. With fixtures in the shower falling off the wall. No free wifi which is appalling, and could hear a lot of the noise happening in the hall from other guests and food trolleys. I will request my workplace does not book me here again as there are other hotels I prefer. Continental breakfast Is what you would expect (always basic, and not worth $40), except this had exceptional coffee for my tastes.
Great location. Conference room was good for the event. Not enough coffee stations for the number of people.
We hadn't stayed at the Wentworth before. We were happy with our bedroom, clubroom & reception areas.
We will be back!!
I park my car at the hotel. The hotel location is very convenient. The lobby is very nice setup. Staff are very friendly. Would like to try their room one day.
Good for public transportation convenient location
It was nice to be able to walk to the Opera House Harbor Bridge, Darling Harbor etc. even in the late hours.
Thanks to a friendly staff at the check-out, the staff was very helpful and the airport helped me with the advice of the nearest subway station (the castle was Park)
I heard rumors that Sofitel is famous for breakfast,
There seems to be a bad smell in the bathroom.
The noise from the elevator next door was disturbed.
Could not rate the whoke experience higher. Great service, rooms and amazing dining
beautiful hotel, staff very friendly, always greet customers in signature French style, only negative is WiFi is paid NOT FREE
Great service, very comfortable rooms and fantastic location
We went for the Roland Garros expedition. Overal the experience was pleasant. We didn't know what to expect. The hotel surely looked superb and there was nice violin music in the background.
Great location, walking distance to opera house. Staff polite and helpful. Rooms clean with good amenities. Wide selection on TV. Wi-Fi works fine. There are rooms with guests with special needs and that's big plus. Room service tray delivery charge is 8$, that's non sense for me. Other problem is dry air in rooms. Rooms need fresh air from time to time and here that is not case
One of the best Hotels in Sydney. Helpful and friendly service with a smile and the rooms are lovely and warm for such a central location.
Nice hotel. Comfortable bed but ageing bathroom. TV has not worked on multiple stays. Good provided gym facilities.
We arrived early just after 1200 and they told us that our room would not be ready until 2 pm. Returned just after 2 pm but then had to wait until 2:40 until it was ready because they were still 'cleaning' it.
When we got to the room it wasn't as clean as would be expected and even found a used tea cup in the cupboard. Room very dated and water damage to cabinet with the mini bar . Door to bedroom wouldn't close fully. Bed not very comfortable.
Woke up early due to noisy neighbours.
Staff were however friendly and attentive.
Very bad internet even if you pay for the better more expensive version. Actually internet works only in the lobby if you are lucky. To wake up with no water was the high light. After a morning run of 10km and flying home for the next 24h without a shower. Just a perfect start. Never again!!!
Beautiful architecture of the 1960s excellent comfort. Originally a hotel built by the Quantas airline for the passengers of the first jets. Would deserve because of this past to become a Sofitel Mac Gallery.
Small rooms compared to alternatives 5star in sydney
