The venue is beautiful, but the service, food and value for money was way below my expectations for a hotel of this standard. I had the high tea for $69. Given you can have a degustation at a highly rated restaurant in Sydney, i expected quality food. The platter was limited and lacked origination. The bread in the sandwich was dry, the pastries were overly sweet, and the scones bland. After trying all items i was still hungry and left most pastries uneaten. The tea was served 25 minutes after the platters were brought to the table, and unaccompanied with milk or sugar. Had to wait another 15 minutes for that to arrive, and the milk was served in shot glasses rather than milk jugs?!?! Overall very disappointed and would not recommend

We enjoyed a wonderful stay, great amazing housekeeping and all staff welcoming and friendly with special mention for Ellen on the Reception and Mark at the concierge who booked great tickets for the theatre for us.

I've never walked into a hotel where the staff were so friendly, accommodating and wanting to help. Some of the best customer service I have ever received. Room was clean, tidy, modern and up to date.

the room is clean and friendly staff. But a bit disappointed though that in our room there is 2 of us but only 1 slippers. Bath gel was half when we arrived and no toothbrush. We have to call house keeping to give toothbrush and bath gel. Also the its so noisy outside of our room. In the corridors you can really hear people talk and walking around.

Staying during mandatory quarantine alcohol restrictions are insane food is terrible not aloud any fresh air I am a smoker told me I would have to quit didn't offer nothing to help with the cravings. And the carpet was pretty gross my girlfriend did a workout then got into bed and realized from stepping on the carpets there was pubic hairs all over the bed after to look closer at the floor looks like the barley vacuumed the place. One of our towels got wet I asked for a replacement they said laundry was collected once a week only . Will never come to this hotel on my own wallet ill tell ya that.

Absolutely love this hotel! Every time we go to Sydney this is the only place we stay. The suites and club Sofitel are amazing, and the service is second to none. Would definitely recommend!

Our whole family had a very enjoyable stay, staff is very pleasant and friendly with high Quality service. The room is not very big, but the bed and pillow are very comfortable, the bathroom is alos clean and neat. The central air conditioning is also very nice too. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you so much to the lovely little Tess. She went beyond expectation with her team to make a memorable stay for my Son John and his wife Vi. Both celebrating their birthday. What an amazing group of people you all are. This is why we always choose to stay with the accor hotels and Sofitel and will continue to do so. Many thanks again.
Kind regards

Soiree

Soiree
is a great piano bar after dark; the pianist is lively, talented and very entertaining. She's well worth staying up late for and the entertainment is a great alternative to venturing out of the hotel on a cold night! Our room was well-appointed and the toiletries were quite luxurious - Lanvin! The side of the bathtub is quite high from the bathroom floor so a safety grab bar on the wall would have been appreciated.
Breakfast was a different matter. Food is plentiful and great but catering for people with food intolerances is a little hit and miss. Yes, there are a couple of gluten free options available (cereal and bread) but the promised toaster turned out to be the shared toaster, meaning gluten free bread would become cross-contaminated with normal gluten bread crumbs. I had imagined a situation like that at the Novatel at Darling Harbour which has a separate gluten free station with its own dedicated toaster, away from the other toasters to prevent cross-contamination. Please make sure your wait staff understand the health implications of why it is so important to offer gluten free bread that has been toasted in the salamander in the kitchen.
As for anyone who is cow's milk intolerant ... the last two times I stayed at the Sofitel I was able to have margarine with my gluten free toast, which came after I asked for it, whereas most other hotels I have stayed at have had the margarine available in the same place as the butter. This time Chef told my waiter there was butter only. I understand that the Sofitel takes pride in being able to offer butter pats on little plates as a luxury for diners but it was really disappointing as I can't have any of the pastries etc so the only solace is having something enjoyable on my gluten free toast instead. I know the Sofitel prides itself on its French origins but please make allowances for people who are paying good money and want the opportunity to be able to enjoy themselves at breakfast.

I've stayed at this hotel twice now and had a very average experience both times. The hotel itself is ok but the hotel systems, policies and procedures made for a poor overall experience.

Booking online was painful, the interface was terribly designed which led to a booking error. Resolving it online was not possible, and hard to work out how to resolve. It required a 20 minute phone call, followed by more confusion once at the hotel, as the preferences agreed on the phone did not appear to have been communicated to the hotel. It felt hard to work around a big and clumsy system.

Sofitel took $75 a night as a deposit for the mini bar which I didn't use, which didn't exactly communicate trust. It certainly felt excessive as they don't refund until a week later.

The restaurant is very nice. The staff were friendly.

The room I stayed in was small and next to the lift lobby. Based on the price and overall experience I wouldn't come back.

The hotel is beautifully presented but the staff were extremely kind and caring from the front service counter to the table service and the not seen cleaning staff making sure that our room was clean and stocked with essentials.

Firstly the staff, they are amazing - friendly and very aware of you at all times and eager to make sure you are looked after, they are the best part of the hotel.

What can I say for my room, small with a 40" TV (I guess my expectations for what 5 stars should mean are way out of wack), tiny bath tub that could barely fit in 2 newly weds and the bed was around half a foot shorter than I would like.

Over all it was an average experiance and definitely not what I expected for a 5 star hotel.
It's nice but overpriced.

A pleasant enough stay and within walking distance to the Opera House (our reason for being here) but I'm not sure this hotel is up to Sofitel standards. Small bathroom with the shower over the bath. Room is smaller than many Novotel branded hotels I've stayed in. The only hot canapes in the Club Lounge last night were mini meat pies and cheese samosas and they seemed to be short staffed last night and this morning at breakfast. Currently listening to nail guns fixing carpet to the floor in the room next door. An encouragement to check out early!

The staff were amazing from check in to check out, food was great in both the restaurant and the room service dessert and the bed was very comfortable. The only negative in my experience was when I checked under the bed to make sure nothing had gone under there, it was obvious that this had not been cleaned for months. There was a layer of dust about a centimeter thick, and there was all types of rubbish and junk under there, including what looked like loose m&ms.

Stayed for three nights. The girl(think her name is Ellen) is the star. She was nice, friendly and professional. The first two morning breakfast was good but very disappointed with the last morning breakfast. Also disappointed with the over charge.

Mostly all lovely flavors.
The waitress was most helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Service is wonderful, but sadly the rooms were lacking. I spent time in three different rooms and in two the beds were shot. I notified the staff, who were wonderfully helpful. For the beds, one was very bad and the other on the edge of passing. I would have thought that this was the norm in Sydney if not for staying at another hotel with firm mattresses. The bathrooms are also tight.

The name brings people in, but with some of the challenges of an aging infrastructure, it will be difficult to keep up their good name.

Went here for the buffet breakfast. Coffee was burnt, and the food didn't justify the price. Was originally a 2 star review but the reply they left was obviously cpmputer generated, referencing my non-existant stay at the hotel and thanking me for a positive review.

Classic hotel. Have stayed many times over the years and prior to current brand. They do a lot of things well, however it's on old hotel and the rooms are smallish, the bathrooms very small and getting a bit tired. Shower pretty bad, bed comfortable.
