The Globe Theater was originally the company's theater owned by the famous English playwright, poet and actor William Shakespeare. It officially opened in 1599 and had a capacity for more than 3,000 people. Here Shakespeare represented many of his famous works and became one of the most successful theaters in all of London.

Unique theatre with a unrivalled experience.
No other theatre engages the audience quite like it.
Lovely experience, the wooden seats are hard going for the duration of the performance. Seat cushion hire is a must (if you suffer normally, is consider hiring two cushions).
Intermission drinks can be ordered in advance (if not you can only pay with cash at the break), that said the way the reserved drinks are handed out means it's quicker to take cash and buy your beverage from the bar or mobile vendor.

Shakespeare's Globe is hands down the best place to experience the greatness of Shakespeare's works. Audiences here are fully engaged with the show. The atmosphere created here is simply something not worth missing.

The tour was nice and the guide was informative. However the only space you go in is the theatre itself. In tours of other Shakespeare theatres we were also shown costume and prop areas, dressing rooms, etc. Also the tour ran 20 minutes over which made us almost late for our dinner reservation.

We did the tour here while we were in London. Loved every minute of it. Very informative tour guide with a great sense of humour.

Fun fact: this building is a replica. The original had burnt down because the actors thought it was a good idea to fire cannons from the stage. Apparently some tourists don't know this and made complaints when they found out...

To see is that it is pure history, the whole area, for me the most beautiful thing to visit walking parallel to the river and if it's better, go up to Monument, visit the City, cross Charing Cross and back over the bridge of the Big Ben to St James Park, who could ??

I saw the matchstick girl in the small theatre attatched to rhe globe which was brilliant. Well produced and superb cast. Amazing that the theatre is only lit with candles. Three tiers of seats on the ground floor with only the highest tier facilitating a back rest. Limited space for your feet see picture (I am size 11.)

I've done the theater's tour and it was really interesting to know the facts about the theater and William Shakespeare. The structure itself is simple, but it has a huge historic meaning.

Very unique open venue. There are planes flying over head every few minutes but the acoustics are good enough that you can still hear. They even bave screens showing subtitles in case you miss any of the words. This is full on Shakespeare so be prepared for that

A little bit disappointing. The tuor lasts about 30 minutes and includes a quick tour of the globe with some anecdotes. If you are lucky you will be able to witness some trials without being able to take pictures ... Meh

Do the tour and transport yourself to Elizabethan London

We enjoyed the guided tour of the Globe. Very informative, entertaining and well done to get a glimpse of what was like back when Shakespear's company was performing. They have done a great job recreating the theater, even using same materials and construction techniques of the time. We are not theater goers but always relevant to learn about this important part of history.

The Globe is just a great place to see a Shakespeare play, and as close as a modern audience is going to get to the original Elizabethan experience. Today's Globe is located not far from the site of the circa 1614 original, and is as More

Beautiful theatre in a beautiful setting. Seating and styling is mediaeval, wooden benches and thatched roof, a tiny but vertigo inducing if you're on the upper levels but that's all part of the charm. They have an annual Comedy Store Players evening which is always chaotic fun, the highlight being the Shakespeare spoof to close the evening. Titus Androgynous or Julius Teaser anyone?

No trip to London could be considered complete without taking in a play at Shakespeare's Globe. Didn't study Shakespeare? No problem! The acting is so good, the actors somehow pull off the magic of making his language come alive for the 21st Century audience. If you go, here's a hint: it's worth the money to get a seat so you don't have to stand with the groundlings the whole time and worth the money to rent a cushion for that seat.

As a reconstruction of a piece of history the Globe is fantastic. Unfortunately the tour guide was terrible. She seemed to rely on the fact that she was "too cool for school" and made the majority of the visit unbearable. The self guided tour with audio set was very good and had both adult and child options for a lot of the sections. Their gift shop is full of Shakespeare goodies. A real shame about the actual tour itself however. With a better guide this could have been a 4*
