Love what they do on a daily basis to help domesticated creatures of the world.
I love this organization and all of the workers and volunteers. Even though they are so busy, and I mean so busy, they really care for each pet and parents that comes through the door. I would do online research before coming in because they do have certain days designated to specific things going on (ie Monday s and Tuesday s are the only days they do vaccines, microchipping and wellness exams (you need an appointment only for wellness exams). Did not spend too much time waiting to get my pet microchipped.
This place is a animal mafia. They took my dogs without permission then asked for a $612, I do not see why people would bring their pets.
I realize that they are extremely busy but why is it so difficult for someone to take two minutes to respond to a voicemail inquiry. Two messges left over 4 days. All I want to know is if I can bring my dog in while I'm looking at others dogs because it's required (and should be) that my home pet meet the adopted pet. I really want to look at a puppy that's currently there but they won't even respond so that I know it's still there and I'm not going to drive half an hour there drive all the way back home to get my current pup, drive all the way back for the two to meet, then back home. Isn't that a big absurd. I certainly don't want to leave my pup in the car for hours but I can understand if bringing in my dog would be too disruptive. Isn't there at least one volunteer to help with dog adoption questions that aren't on the site.
Now I see the pup I was interested in yesterday is now gone and they couldn't take a minute to let me know. Thanks a lot
This place was really nice and the staff was wonderful
The SPCA here in Sacramento was outstanding with my one experience that when I was there I would recommend anybody to go there to adopt a pet or to re-home a pet they were outstanding
Great place to adopt an animal at, or to surrender.. they do their best to adopt out and not to put the animal to sleep unless the animal is aggressive and harms someone else or itself.
Was told that we could not meet the dog once our number was called. We had checked the box indicating that we let our dog sleep in a kennel in the garage. We had explained that our dog sleeps inside the house when it's cold and in the garage when the weather is nicer. The lady made us feel like we were irresponsible pet owners and that we are on their "black list" for the next 90 days.
We came in looking for a cat. Though none of the cats seemed to be interested in going home with us that day, I noticed that the staff truly go out of their way to try to make the animals feel as comfortable as they possibly can, even petting them and interacting with them to keep them connected to humans! I was very impressed. Nice place too!
This facility is one of the cleanest and well-kept spca's I have been to the staff is friendly and seems to genuinely like their job and enjoy being with animals. One little guy stood out his name is Charlie look at him he is a real life Garfield!!! Super loving and waiting for someone to adopt him. We were unable to because of our current living situation but definitely encourage you to go check him and all the amazing animals out if you're in the market for a new pet.
They offered a reasonable price to spay my beagle.
She is recovering as planned.
Thank you SPCA
A wonderful place to find a new friend! They were so very helpful with the adoption process.
Long wait in the cold
You small of a room to wait in after we went inside
Great place to volunteer and good place to adopt animals
The center is so clean and welcoming! The adoption process was great!
Found my forever cat here. Momma Cat is very beautiful and friendly to everyone.
All the staff that I had contact with are great. Personal. Professional. Caring.
Everyone is so kind here it's always a pleasure to bring my dog. They offer all the services you can think about and they even have open hour clinic days. Now if you ask me the best part is their costs. They've got a loyal customer with me.
I am heart broken after my experience here. I have been wanting to get a dog for awhile but have been waiting for the right time to do so. After visiting a few shelters multiple times they introduced me to a dog that I fell in love with. We were second hold for the pup so we went home and waited. After being told the dog was available we told them we would call back and they gave us a deadline for 11:30am on Wednesday to get him. We left multiple messages that we wanted him and called several times and were only ever able to get their answering machine even during business hours. They were closed Monday and Tuesday and so we waited. During those days since we had a hold on the pup we prepared our house in the most ridiculous way and read books and came up with a 30 day plan on how to introduce our new pup to my cat.
Well we showed up 10 minutes late to pick up the dog and they had already signed him away and the new owners were doing their vet visit. 1) I don't understand how he could be adopted and doing a vet visit within 10 minutes of our hold being up. They must have started the process of having others look at him before our hold ended, I know they do that cause they have done that with us. 2) I asked if they got our phone calls and they told me "they had 80 voicemails and were not going to be able to listen to them all and there was nothing they could do for us but we should check their website daily in case the new owners brought this dog back." This is a very unprofessional, non-empathetic way to do business.
As someone who is a firm believer in shelter adoption I don't think I can go back there which makes me very disappointed. I liked their staff a lot and is why I can't give them one star but I don't like their process and they had no respect for our feelings regarding this adoption.
Can't beat the cost of vaccinations and wellness clinic. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I use to go to a animal pet clinic. But the costs were outrageous compared to SPCA. Even the cost for medications such as heartworm, Flea & Tick prevention is much cheaper. I now take all my pets there.
Because their spay and neuter neuter program is the best thing that ever happened in the nurses in the people and staff that help and work there are amazing for doing what they do as well
Spay and neuter clinic is awesome! They are great there!!
Very helpful staff that really care about the animals. Clean facility and lots of animals that need homes. We adopted a dog last weekend and she fits perfect with our family. She is very playful and we love having her. I am so greatful for places like this that help the animals to find new homes.
I recently had to put my old dog Cooper down after 13 years together. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. The staff was absolutely amazing, and comforted me through the whole process. Truly made a tough situation much more tolerable.
The one of bradshaw is much better. But those pour animals look like the need full time family.
Very friendly staff took excellant care of my baby. Very affordable
Large facility, clean on the inside, spay and neuter your pets!
Awesome staff at our local SPCA. Grateful for the benefits Whisker Warriors offer in order to spay/neuter pets at no cost (with certain restrictions) and thankful for the services they provide for our community.
Went to see the cats and dogs, though we were mainly interested in the cats. The place is clean, though there is no way to put your fingers into the kennel to try and interact with the cats. The place does offer a socialization room to take the cat and see how you and the animal interacts, so that makes up for it some. Unfortunately, the wait to go into the socialization room is usually a hour + wait. Also, this place charges $20 more to buy a pet here compared to the other animal shelters in Sacramento county.
Happy, but lost. You need to install signs what building is doing vaccinations.
So many loveable dogs there I wish I could adopt them all
I just saw a post with them seizing over 200 hungred rabbits. The ironic thing is the animals were well taken care of.....how I can tell is the majority were long haired rabbits that require weekly grooming.....and these rabbits are groomed. The shelter has them on solid floors with newspaper (rabbits pee and poop alot and it will just become a soggy mess), several rabbits in the same cage (they will make more babies or fight), does with young kits with no nestboxes (they will die), likely some does were pregnant when seized (the shelter won't know which ones until they have dead babies in the cages), I doubt that they will groom them weekly, etc. The real rescue is getting these rabbits away from the idiot shelter who obviously are clueless.
It's ok.....BUT I think, waiting more than 1 hr to get JUST shots for an animal is ridiculous. I am a Professional myself (30yrs) and things need to be organized before opening. All necessary employees/volunteers on board! Even a Supervisor or Assist Manager per say to make sure every employee etc is prompt& satisfying every customer accordingly and to make sure they leave HAPPY. People have other things to do in life too. Besides the animals, Consideration is the key here. Either you want the buisness or not. There are many options out there. "Rumors spread like fire about businesses. I Blame it on Management. That's one thing I don't lack in my field of work/Regional Mgr. Customer Satisfaction and day is always right. Thank-u and have a nice day.
Best clinic. Discounts for students. They spayed our new puppy and it was a great experience. At no point were we worried about our precious doggo because we have faith in the Sacramento SPCA.
We got our kitty here through an appointment and it went smoothly. Quick and easy! Nice facility too.
Can be tough to get a hold of someone, but everything else has gone well.
Very helpful staff & great service in getting it done!!
From puppy jail to wide open cross country traveling! This place is cheap and seemingly dedicated to saving the lives of animals from the garbage people who view animals as expendable objects. Go to this place, help if you can and get rewarded with a lifetime friend who will probably love you more than any human will. It's been almost two months and my dog gained ten pounds and is now at the ideal weight! He's scheduled for a little puppy dental work in two weeks and he is a happy camper!
Volunteers or Workers - I have no clue but when you have six of them around just chatting with each other and not really interested in helping you - really turns you off from adopting - after spending 45 minutes with no help - we decided to walk away and not adopt
Can't say a lot about facilty since not allowed to go in at this time due to pandemic but staff was friendly and patient. We were there for end of life services for my child's dog so very sad occassion. Like I said staff was friendly, patient and kind.
Receptionist was cold and rude, but the rest of the staff was amazing.
I bring back my dog for his vaccinations plus he was adopted from here the staff is so kind and friendly and they are so well-organized. Never disappointing working with our local SPCA!
Just adopted Ranger, a husky mix, and loved every interaction with Emily and Nathan. Thanks for being so kind to me and to our 4 year old Siberian Husky named Roxy. They are getting along wonderfully!
They do a fine work of providing a necessary service.
They took real good care of my cats, inexpensive, and the place is nice.
Caring and knowledgeable staff for whatever your needs.
The staff and especially the volunteers are so nice and helpful and that made going there a pleasant experience. The vaccination clinic is spacious and pet owners ("Pet Guardians to use their term i dont agree with since they put a chip in my dogs neck, haha. I own this dog now! But i am stating this to make the point they really love animals. Homeless shelter volunteers for humans and staff should be twice as nice!
Nice staff. Check-in was quickly completed. They even offer a free bag of pet food.
They do a phenomenal job of taking care of animals but unfortunately they're very slow with the adoption process... it takes hours once you've decided you want to meet an animal to potentially adopt before they get to you which can be really discouraging and frustrating. You have to go in being willing to spend an entire day to both see the animal and get through the adoption process. If they could speed up the adoption wait times I'm guessing they would be able to adopt more animals to forever homes, while I was there waiting to adopt I saw several people who gave up and left because they had something else they needed to get to or we're really frustrated with the wait and lack of communication.
However I was able to adopt a bunny for my daughter which has been fun!
The spca offers a great low incone vaccine clinic for cats and dogs. My only concern is that my indoor cat returned with fleas.
Help save the pets. Great spot for cheap vaccinations.
It s was an ok place not that good though when me and my mum were looking to adopt a cat we went into a room with cats and it reaked of cat poop and when we went to look at dogs there was sad music playing that was making that dogs wine and cry
I went to retrieve my homeless brothers dog for him after a ten day hold because she jumped on a officer and she's a 5 month old puppy and hasn't had her rabies shots yet. Was told over the phone that it was going to be about 280 to get her out which is really expensive and really hard for a homeless person who doesn't beg for money to come up with in a hurry or at all, but with help we came up with it and went down there just to find out that it's in fact 891.00 to get her because of this fee and that fee oh and licensing and the shot they gave her. How the hell does anyone afford to get their animals back once they are behind the walls of SPCA?
This place is wonderful. I adopted a 2 month old Jack Russell/Yorkshire Terrier mix back on Jan 2, 2015. They were very helpful with every part of the adoption. Then we went back on Dec 2, 2015. Again they were woderful with all yhey adoption process making sure the two got along before we could adopt him, someting that animal control did not do when our roommate a dog last week. The Sacramento SPCA do a great job with the animals that come to them, unlike most kill shelters. If all the people out there would stop creating dogs, puppies, cats and kittens thinking then no animal would ever have to be put down. So humans need to realize animals are not throw aways but living loving creatures. That you SPCA for what all you do for them.
Low cost pet vaccines! I got my dog all caught up on his shots without a huge debt. They offer many services here and even though it may seem like the line is super long, everyone does their best to get you taken care of as soon as possible.
Got our cat from here. Great people. I want to take ALL the pets home with me.
Free shots for your pet after 65 yrs old discounted prices for pet services on Monday and Tuesday mornings
We were adopted a dog and they looked after us very well. I felt like it when I looked at those puppies locked in a cage waiting for someone to adopt them, please adopt and do not buy and you have to neuter our pets
Quick, friendly, inviting environment even for walk-in
Awesome staff and Great Vet's. They did an awesome job on our cat. Thank y'all.
This place is really big and clean! We were at the "adoption" part and I would encourage everyone to adopt we got 4 kittens and we are so happy!
