The audacity of the owners calling me sneaky for trying to get my money back is surprising. Instead of replying to my emails, the OWNERS decide to ignore them and threaten me for a bad review. The problem would be better resolved in person or on the phone as I requested. I don't think you understand professional customer service but don't worry, I wont be bothering you anymore as it is time consuming, unfair and useless.

One of the best escape rooms in Toronto! Prisoner is a must do! You have to come at night when there's no light and the atmosphere is so dark and mysterious. Can't wait to get some people together and try the Butcher Basement next! Trust me, worth every penny!
Helpful?

This place was awesome! The puzzle were interesting and not very difficult, for a location downtown it is decent. The rooms are smaller but I mean the location is minutes away from Eaton center, and it's was easy to find. Good place to go after work with co workers or friends for some bonding time before you hit a bar or restaurant.

I really enjoyed the escape we did here. There was a 'purpose' or link for each clue. You didn't have to guess.
The difficulty was just right to be fun but not overly challenging or nerve racking.
The only complaint I'd have is the final ending to the mummy one was a bit anticlimactic.
Will definitely go again

Went to the airplane escape room with 6 people. It was posted as an intermediate room.
First the room is nowhere near big enuf for 6 people....both doors slid open easily without codes as they were shut with magnets. When we "finished" we didn't even know so our time was longer. When we called.for a hint she said o UR done and when I asked how we were to know that she said the other girl forgot to tell us when u access the steering wheel it's over..... when we stated we were done at least a few minutes prior the girl told us we could write our names on the board. The group picture with "props" was in a dimly lit hallway with props for a butcher's room not an airplane pic. And the hosts were very unenthusiastic . 200 spent by our group and not even worth 20. Save your money do not go here!

Great staff and interesting room designs. My friends and I have had a great time for the two rooms that we completed. The puzzles aren't always that relevant to the room but still fun and clever compared to other escape rooms that I've gone to.

The two rooms that I've completed at roundabout are "Final Destination" and "The Ninja".

I'm planning on going back and would easily recommend other friends to visit.

We did the Ninja room. (You can tell from its name.....It's an escape room without any story telling or a proper theme.) You guys should probably change the name to something like "Japanese style sushi place" to make it sound at least more exciting.

Cheap and illogical design for such expensive price. The room is also pretty darn small and it's just like one single room..... We didn't make it out because of the poor design of some puzzles(not hard, just boring and time consuming). The staff even told us: "This level takes lotta time because after this all other puzzles are gonna be super easy."

Ah, what? We didn't sign up for this.

I would say we are pretty disappointed. Not recommended unless they fix their poorly designed levels. I appreciate any effort they put into, but still. It's far away from a decent, industry standard escape room.

I was about to give this place one star. But after thoughts I added one more star for the staff, they are at least friendly and patient.

It was my first time going to an Escape room. It was totally different than I thought it would be. Our group enjoyed it. It was helpful to have phone calls that we could make when we needed hints to solve clues. There were a couple times that some technology didn't work and the staff has to manually give us access to things in the room. We should have been rewarded with a few more minutes due to that.
I did find it weird that they didn't allow phones in the rooms and a little gross that we all has to take our shoes off to wear sandals that others have worn. Not sanitary.
Overall, cool experience. I like that they took a pic of us at the end.

We did the prisoner room and we weren t impressed. Not actually being locked in took away from the experience (we know it is a safety feature). I ve been to many escape rooms and this one was probably the worst. One of our clues was missing a part! Definitely don t recommend this room. Not fun at all.

My partner and did two escape rooms recently. We did the Mummy and the Ninja. The Mummy was a more traditional rooms full of hidden figures and various locks. In spite of the traditional and often used formula the mummy was pretty fun. With a reasonable story the art and puzzles for a motive and theme.

The ninja was different since it had no traditional locks or keys. It was mostly technical clues and locks which was a welcome surprise! It did have the hardest single element I've ever seen in an escape room before requiring excellent communication. Again this room had well thought out puzzles and themes.

Came here with my team for team building. Enjoyed it a lot. They have a few rooms. We went with one of the advanced rooms - The Prisoner, even though it's our first time. You need to escape within an hour. They can give you clues as well. But to get on their record boards, you can only get up to two clues. Thought it's gotta be really scary because of the pictures on their website. But turned out acceptable even for a timid person like me. The settings are legit and the puzzles aren't stupid. Great for team building! Would come here again with my friends!

The employees forgot to check if everything was in place. They completely forgot to lock one of the locks which contained the very last clue to complete the room. Ended up completing the room in 20 minutes less because of this mistake. Don t reach dis location, Issa waste of guap styll

There are better escape rooms in Toronto / the GTA that are the same price but have more reliable puzzles that actually work and have MUCH better logic to the puzzles.
I did 2 escape room here:
I will say that The Prisoner was excellent, apart from some of the clues just did not work even once we solved them, so we ran out of time due to such glitches, otherwise The Prisoner was very creative, fun and memorable.
Final Destination sounds like a neat scenario as you are in a cockpit. But the puzzles were either completely random or utterly idiotic in their conception. Afterwards when they were explained to us by the people running the place, my honest reaction was "Are you joking? That makes absolutely no sense."

I really enjoyed the rooms I ve done here and will absolutely come back to finish the other 2! I ve done 3 so far with different groups of friends and everyone I ve come with has had an amazing experience. The employees are friendly and even once accommodated a friend with his mobility needs. Always so friendly. Rooms are really fun, and the different rooms I ve done have been very different! Wouldn t recommend Butcher for the faint of heart (but I loved it!). The airplane and prison are really cool and fun. If I could rate 6 stars, I would.

Awkward experience. The front desk staff were disinterested when we came in, and when they came in to give us hints, we discovered parts of the room hadn't been set up correctly. They did give us an extra 20ish minutes to solve the room which was nice of them, but they didn't actually tell us they were doing that, they just didn't come get us after our time had run out so we kept solving. When we were finished, we asked them to take a photo for us in the prop area, and then no employee ever bothered to come out into the hall to take the photo, so we just left. Rooms aren't terrible, but customer service needs a LOT of work.

Come to the multi-village first room experience! Especially suitable for relaxing after get off work at DT, meeting with three or five friends, and working together to understand puzzles! Especially the moment of customs clearance! Still very fulfilling! If you have the opportunity to play in other houses, you can experience the Ninja Chamber of Secrets first. The key words are patience and observation!

We did the prisoner room. The room was missing props (a flashing light) and a lock was already open when we got in, it was very disorganized! We did not escape from the room and when we asked the girl to explain the rest of the puzzle, she was unsure of how it worked and couldn't enter the right code! This was defiantly not a room we would recommend to others as experienced escapees !

My boyfriend and I did the mummy room and the puzzles were good until the end when we got to the final (?) puzzle. When we solved it, nothing happened. We just stood there confused for quite a long time. There was an announcement containing numbers over the intercom but there were no more locks so we were frantically running around looking for something we missed. We couldn't find anything and saw our time was at 0:00 so we went out the door that we came in that is always unlocked for emergencies and had to ask what was up. They told us that we solved the room and took our picture. We were super confused and unsatisfied with the experience.

While I'd rank this at the bottom of the list in terms of escape rooms I've been to, it's still decent (albeit a bit sketchy in terms of cleanliness). A friend and I did "Final Destination" and while the room itself was super neat and resembled a plane, the progression from one clue to the next was lacking and there was no clear sign of which clue led to the next step. In fact, we skipped a clue entirely and still managed to escape - a sign that the room and puzzles wasn't designed very well.

I did the mummy, the butcher's basement and the final destination I was really impressed in the effort they put into designing the different sets. For mummy, the puzzles are challenging, The admosphare was cool, I feel like I was really in Egypt!

The airplane challenge room was really fun and interesting with great props. I found the staff member Jill to be very helpful with the clues we needed - she would give us a hint but not give us the answer in a very skillful way. She was always quickly responsive when we phoned for help

Extremely disappointed. Booked an escape room at 10:50 with 3 friends, arrived at 10:40 and was told it would be a 50 minute wait. We were told the previous group had shown up with only 2 members initially, and as it was a 3 person minimum, there was nothing they could do. We decided that waiting 50 minutes was unacceptable, got a refund and left. Customers who are on time should not be penalized because others are ridiculously late. No effort was made to contact us about this delay. Pretty unprofessional on the whole, would not recommend.

Disappointing from start to finish.

Disappointing from start to finish.

Let me save you the disappointment and recommend that you go elsewhere. I have completed 5 escape rooms this year, and this was by far the worst experience i ve had. Not only was the room itself lacking depth, it was rundown (dusty, filthy); the staff were not helpful, complacent and did not care about our experience.

We had an issue in our room where one of the boxes was broken when we arrived. We were put into jail cells so we were unable to recognize it from the start, but we got into the room, started to solve the puzzles, and then when we got to this particular puzzle, the box was broken and the shackle was not attached. We finished the room in record time (22 minutes), but we had a box left open so we asked the staff how it was possible. Instead of acknowledging that the prop as broken, in an effort to appease us she said that this code is frequently guessed without the clue , knowing fully the prop was broken and had not been fixed.

When speaking with the front desk, we told them about the issue, we asked to complete a new room because we had paid to have a full experience (8x $32 = $256), however, we were asked to leave and told management would contact us. In the email from management they accused us of breaking the room, were extremely rude, nd took no responsibility for the lack of maintenance.

I can understand damage and issues in a high volume, high traffic environment like this. I can empathize with a business that is dependant on user feedback to determine these types of issues, and addresses them appropriately. What I CANNOT stand is when management does not take responsibility for the issues with their product, when people pay hundreds of dollars for an experience and the provider makes no attempt to provide a quality experience.

There are many escape rooms downtown. Don t waste your time or money at Roundabout.

____________
In Response to the Seller:

The issue has not been addressed. Let me make two things abundantly clear:

1. We do not want anything free. You escape room was a bad experience and it is compounded now by your unprofessionalism, I will never come back to your establishment, so why would I want anything free. We came in and payed a lot of money for an experience, and you failed big time on delivering that.

2. No one is being cruel. You provide a service, we used your service and have the right to caution others because your service, as outlined above, does not provide a quality experience, and clearly you do not provide quality support. I have read other reviews, we are far from the first people complaining about the condition and maintenance of your rooms. Even with the intent of it being an "old prison" it shouldn't have big piles of dust in the corners, that's just neglect.

Do not talk to me about how to behave in escape rooms, thank you. We were very respectful, we have been to many others at other facilities and we have never had a bad experience. Also, I don't need your lecturing because I will never return to your establishment.

To anyone reading, if my review wasn't enough, hopefully you will take the sellers immature and unprofessional response as an indicator of how your overall experience will be. Skip this establishment, you'll thank me later.

I m giving 3 stars only because my experience with my friends during my first visit. Everything was good until we reached one room and noticed we were missing part of the clues. We wasted 25 mins trying to find clues that weren t given to us, we then paged a member of the staff and she confirmed it was their fault and hadn t put the clues in the room for us, but a worker apologized and offered us to continue past the 40 mins (until we solved it) and then offered us 15% next time. I would still go again, it was just sad the first time

Besides Roundabout being located right at the heart of Toronto, it is by far the best Escape room I have ever been. The games are extremely immersive, and logic. The quality of the rooms is amazing, making everything look so realistic! Too realistic, like the ninja room..I had to remove my shoes and wear ninja special shoes to accomplish my mission!. I was also told that the room was designed by movie company. I have done many Escape rooms in Toronto, and I can honestly say that Roundabout rooms and staff , will not disappoint you.

My group of 4 did an "Advanced" room. One of us had never done an escape room before. We were timed for 60 minutes and got out of there in 24. Felt good but also kind of let down because we wanted a challenge. Not sure if I would go again, if that was their advanced room (Prisoners)

Myself and a group of 7 paid for an escape experience at this location called Prisoners. I need to start off by saying that we paid 8 multiplied by $33 each. We escaped within 22 minutes; however, after exiting we realized we missed several locks because one of the locks in the middle was broken and allowed us to skip half the room. This ruined our escape experience, as evidently the room was not reset property. Further, the escape room itself had no storyline, set up, and the room was smaller and poorly built. What was worse was there was no evident manager on site or available. When we spoke to the front desk, she offered us 10% off our next game, then after further discussion she offered 20% and finally dropped back down to 10% (she did not have proper protocol training on this). There was zero accountability for what had been done, no refund was offered and all of the staff were extremely unprofessional. Definitely my worst escape game experience, a shame it had to be with 7 other friends. Please do yourself a favour (save your wallet) and do not go to this escape room.
