I heard so much about this restaurant and went in with an expectation of excellence. Sometimes they say that going in with high expectations is a bad thing but not if you go here. The food was absolutely amazing, service was efficient and the presentation was excellent. I was here for lunch with friends and I look forward to going back again soon. I highly recommend

We had a wonderful family lunch on 16th September, 7 adults et 2 small children. A warm child friendly welcome which pleased us enormously. We had the best lunch ever in Roly's, we have had 2 Conferring meals there but many other over the More

Had a nice midweek dinner this evening. The steak was lovely and the staff extremely friendly and attentive. The set menu is good value, but aim for the a la carte menu for some great dishes

Well where do i begin?

We sat down at our table and this was the highlight. Our starters arrived within about 5 minutes of ordering this should have set alarm bells ringing but they were a pretty basic Tesco Finest esq kind of deal so we wernt exactly blown away. 10 to 15 minutes later our mains arrived. I ordered Chicken stuffed with with black pudding. It arrived with some fan fair as it bounced off the table in front of me such was the haste with which it was delivered. It sat atop a colcannon mash and was quite literally SWIMMING in bisto (yes Bisto) gravy. Absolutely pathetic. My side of greasy and hideously over cooked veg arrived next yum yum!! Its the piece of chicken i felt most sorry for as this was surely a cruel cruel end to what was no doubt a miserable life. Never have i eaten such a joyless piece of meat. My partner had the steak which was all of the above in terms of a horror show and again was an absolutely pathetic piece of meat in terms of its cut and preparation. Next up desert. Another triumph! Knickerbocker glory anyone? Lemon meringue pie perhaps? Chocolate molten lava cake? Honestly the only thing missing was a bottle of Black Tower or Blue Nun and a Chris de Burgh tape playing in the background to make this a truly dated 80's experience. My partner had the Knickerbocker glory for nostalgia complete with caned tuti fruity at the bottom and HB ice cream (no wafer!) and i had the quite literally abysmal and dry and crunchy in parts to be perfectly hones roly chocolate pudding (Tesco lava cake).

This was in no uncertain terms the worst dining experience Iv ever had in my life. It would be funny if I wasn't so angry that this is what passes for food in some parts of Dublin. Pathetic is the only word I have for it although it deserves stronger.

My wife and I had dinner in Roly's Bistro on Friday August 26th and it was excellent as usual. From our seafood platter starters to my beef aged in Himalayan salt and my wife's risotto the food was sublime. I plumped for apple and raspberry crumble with vanilla ice cream for dessert and my wife requested a fruit plate which was excellent. All washed down with a bottle of house red and great coffee. The service was friendly and attentive and it was a great way to start the weekend. We'll be back!

I ve been to Roly s a few times and each time I get to the point where I won t come back. Well finally after the last two visits that is now concrete.

I popped in here one morning on the way home from an early morning work trip and thought I d grab some eggs Benedict. I sat myself down and waited for someone to take my order, I waited, and waited, and waited. After about 15 minutes I got up and left and no one questioned me or stopped me.

So i wasn t going to come back but a work contact invited me for a drink and so I went back and again the service was really slow and tables were dirty and poor.

I won t ever be back.

I was out with my cousins last Sunday 10th June for dinner to celebreate my 70th Birthday staff couldn't do enough food was lovely and they evan sang Happy Birthday to me and lit a candle for me. The only fault i have with them is they don't have a laft for people who have disability as my cousin had to try to climb the stairs i felt sorry for her as she is having a hip replacement later this week.out from that Rolys is great place to eat and enjoy

Roly Poly, we were full of pie, some lovely wine, we were less shy, a bite of bread, a nub of butter, a spoon of cream, our eyelids flutter, a better night you couldn't buy, if I don't win this prize, I might just cry.

Good place for lunch with your parents or your in-laws, especially of a Sunday. Have a walk through Herbert Park and then in here for lunch. The cafe part is really handy - especially the take away selection.

Visiting Dublin Rolly's was recommended and we booked a table. Table wasn't ready when we arrived but after 10 minute wait we were sent upstairs, seated, given menus and ignored for 20 minutes. Finally waitress asked for our order we asked for drinks and bread. Got the bread and the starters before the drinks. Pouring the wine the waiter offered it to taste and then wandered off. Which is ok as we can serve ourselves. Food was very nice, hearty and tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food. The service was terrible. So Rolly you have a great product suggest you sort out the shoddy packaging.

I have just left this place because they are not kind at all. I tried to order several times - waited 15 min- and yet the waitress got the order of the next table and ignored me! Never again!

I eat regularly in both cafe Roly's Cafe and Roly's Bistro.

I live nearby. I am very happy overall and that is why I am a regular customer.

In the interests of "constructive criticism", I would give the following feedback:
Sometimes staff seem unaware that I am working off a set menu. Sometimes wine arrives after starter has been served. Sometimes, it is necessary to ask for bread and/or water, which should be automatic. In general it is the less experienced staff who sometimes account for this inconsistent service.

Overall, I will continue to come back!

What a fantastic restaurant! From start to finish the service was exceptional our waiter Michael was lovely - even managing to source a candle for my daughter's pudding (which was delicious)! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area and we will be back soon!!

Incredible fresh bread made by their bakery and sold for takeaway. I've tried grocery stores, Natural Bakery, Bretzels, Hansel and Gretel, and none of them get bread right like Roly's does. Fresh, seasoned well, soft chewy inside and great crust outside. Perfect.

*edit*: Lordy the lemon meringue pies!!! Best I ve ever had. Even beats my mum s!! They know their pastries, even French pastries!

*edit*: Finally went to have a sit down meal. Wow. Wow. Wow. The service team upstairs was incredible. I ve seen service staff working in pairs but Roly s people are *all* working together to service the tables. I was blown away by how well they work together. Then there was the food coming out of the kitchen. Some of the best I ve ever had. The rib steak was seasoned incredibly, exquisitely cooked to medium with the fat rendered perfectly and the cut itself was amazing so the supplier must be amazing as well. I mean, just an amazing experience from every facet (take away or restaurant) of this business.

Breakfast and lunch here are fantastic. The sandwhiches and soup is excellent. The service isn't bad either.

Dinner is good but somewhat pricey for the amount of food you get.

The to go coffee is 2 for any size coffee. The baked goods and pastries look amazing. I haven't tried them yet though.

Still the same takeaway dishes for the last few years. Rarely change it up. Also food quality and quantity has dropped immensely. Very poor for what you pay. Even if they stick to few main dishes please put some love and care into them. Such a shame as everyone is looking for good wholesome takeaway food a lot of other places out there offering way better. Just it's so close to me. But unfortunately I've given them way to many chances and they are not listening.

Excellent food. Lovely menu.

Excellent food. Lovely menu.
Hence 3 *** for lack of Service. Rude. Arrogant. Pompous Assistant Manager. No good evening. No Hello. Just 3 plates. Crossed my husband's face hot plate to serve my dish. Head up turned around gone. A joke. Lack of service from team with the exception of a lovely smiling young man Rashan. I think the name. I pointed him out to Khan as being the restaurants best asset. . We opted to eat here. First time for my new husband. Second time for me. After this rude experience. I recounted why I've never being back.
Dinner for 2 @ 98 Euro. Purchased 2 vouchers for 49 each Donning. Ie. Great deal. I thought. Great food. Yes. Assistant Manager rude when I said we had vouchers. Oh suxh5 an inconvenience. Asked was all ok. I said No. Food great. Service Appauling. He called his superior. The Manager.Khan. Khan been here many years. I had informed Rolys re vouchers on purchasing and been booked by Empathy Marketing. My sis in law said vouchers upon arrival. When I arrived greeted down stairs. Name. Party. Informed the man. Immediately oh vouchers. Directed upstairs. Table 29.
After dealing with Khan. Not impressed as in moi. We were given a Bulmers & a Heineken from our Bill free. My husband was asked if he would like a glass of wine. Whilst I was emailing vouchers from my phone to Rolys email via Khan. Then my glass of wine 7.95 when I went to pay it had a 10% charge on it.
I was furious. ThoughtIt a joke. Said take it off. Then on leaving was asked if I'd like cake to take with me.
Sorry. I was looking for no freebies. I was looking for a good service. Table service with class. Not here. Dined in Kites following night. Top service. Equally @ the Lobster Pot. They never fail.
Treat all customers with respect. Equally too. With or without vouchers. You advertise to have vouchers during quiet times. No different as still paying woth our earned money. Re train & up skill the team. It goes a very long way. My job. Travelling. Dinning. Tasting. We at table 29. Ex top restaurant staff & proprietors of bars & restaurants in Dublin.
Will not return.

It's a nice restaurant, where the food is nice and it has an old school atmosphere. My duck had a good meaty flavour, but the panna cotta was a little solid. The service was a bit slow (things like writing to our dessert or pay the bill), and it was interesting to watch the staff set the many items of cutlery and glassware
