This place was soooo much fun for the whole family! Stayed in out travel trailer but they have all types of a accomodations. Also have an adventure area where my kids spent all day zip lining, rock climbing, bull riding, bungee jumping and mini golfing! Wish we could've stayed more nights! Oh! And the rodeo was a great experience for the whole family! Can't wait to go back!

Visited for the day. Spent 2 hours in lines to get tickets for different events. Tickets are not available all in one location. Perhaps a welcome center at entrance with all ticket sales in one location would speed the process and be much less frustrating. The activities were fun and the kids loved them.
I had a fabulous time with my family at west gate resort. The weather was perfect for all the activities! They have SO MUCH to offer! We relaxed in the glamping sight and had awesome cinnamon rolls :) . We did horseback ridding, air boat, swamp buggy ride, mini golf and rode the mechanical bull!! The rodeo is fantastic and they have a DJ playing music for an "after party". It was so much fun. The staff is very friendly. The front desk greeted us with such a welcoming attitude and when we needed help with starting a fire at the glamping sight they came over right away to help with such enthusiasm HIGHLY RECOMMEND Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo for ANY FAMILY AND/OR FRIEND GETAWAY .
This place is a Dude Ranch meets a High Quality Resort. It celebrates Florida's Cowboy culture which has a long history. Great place for families, friends and gatherings. Customer Service is their speciality.
I recently stayed the weekend with my sister her husband my niece in law and her two children. Overall we had a wonderful stay. I wanted to take a moment to give recognition to the gentleman, Billy, that was working the pony rides and the petting zoo. He was amazing with the kids. He went above and beyond and totally out of his way to make us feel so comfortable. He gave the kids a very private tour and was super kind and generous with his time. The kids absolutely loved it and he made their day. Not only did they have a great time this weekend but it s memories that they will have forever. So thank you again Billy, you are awesome.
Tent camping was great. Rodeo was fun. We set up camp in the open field next to horses. Great time spent relaxing with the wife. The air boat ride was fun and the rodeo was great. The opening ceremony at the rodeo was a tear jerker. Loved the opening prayer and the salute to veterans and first responders. Will go back for mor relaxation.
Very nice place for kids an adults as well...Dancing an drinks at the Saloon, enty of rooms to stay the nite or the week...Everyone is super friendly and very helpful...
Sorry but that much money and you would think the showers would be in better condition. The novelty of the dude ranch wears off when you buy a Pepsi for $3.50 or single scoop of ice cream for $5.00. If that doesn't bother you, and if you are a drinker, try the prices at the saloon, ouch. As for the rodeo...most of the bull riders lasted about 3 seconds before getting thrown off a few bull steps from the gate..then their heads would be stomped. One was able to stumble over to the paramedics before falling into their waiting arms. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to spend your hard earned money
Great place alot of things to do. Swimming the pools, fishing,Rodeo, boating, swamp bugging, golf cart renting, petting farm and many more things..8 years old grandson loved it. Great Rv area
Staff is friendly and the grounds are beautiful. We stayed in a Teepee and it was a great experience for our 5 year old. She loved the pony rides, rock wall, petting zoo and the play ground. It was convenient to have the Smokehouse and starbucks on property so you can grab bfast lunch or dinner if you dont feel like cooking out. Definitely worth every penny!
The restaurant was closed Mon thr wed,the general store food sucked.no restaurants or grocery store for miles and they blocked my data and wanted me to buy WiFi you would think for what they charge you would get free wifi. For sure last trip there
We love coming here with the kids. There is an adventure par which has zip lining, mechanical bull, rock climbing, miniature golf, and more. Must do- rodeo on Saturday nights.
This place is fantastic...I took a star because the on-site restaurant was stupid bad... Canned beans, frozen box shrimp, ran out of fries, and server that just up and disappeared. So pack the RV with food don't bother with the smokehouse. RV portion is awesome and there really is a ton to do. 5 stars to the resort... -5 for smokehouse...lol
Beautiful place. Too bad the manager, Jody, had a poor attitude towards my family. We were really looking forward to enjoying this place now we will NEVER give them our business.
Wonderful resort outdoor experience, you can glam up as much as you like at this resort ranch. Following and enforcing all CDC guidelines. We ate at the Smokehouse Grill, where they even took temperatures before allowing entry. Excellent, professional and attentive service from Chey, fabulous barbecue with onion rings and battered fries to die for. This place is a treasure!
The place is nice but they could do so much more with it. I am not sure if it was because of covid but there is 1 restaurant open and it closes at 8pm. The people at the grocery/deli store work so slow it hurts...I guess some of the RV and camp guests vacation there regularly and look at you like you are an invader. (Someone chased me on a bike cause I was driving around waiting for my room to be ready and he accused me of almost runining over a child a COMPLETELY MADE UP lie just cause he didn't like I was in their RVs area). The place is huge and they have a very small pool that was overcrowded the whole time I was there. Again, the place is beautiful but I guess it's better for families. If you are a young couple or you are going there with friends there is not too much to do. I was over it and did all the activities in less than 24hrs. It's in the middle of nowehere so they could do better especially with night activities, I was in my room by 9pm.
Always a fun experience. This rodeo is geared for the Jesus loving and USA loving folks. Great for the kids, lots of activities. Zip line, family line dancing and the rodeo is fabulous.
A beautiful place, lots to do & see. Western theme, rodeo, petting zoo, hayride, mini golf, zip line, horseback rides, saloon, restaurant, fishing, airboat rides, etc.. Bike rental, golf cart rental.
Where do I even begin? Westgate River Ranch is one of the most amazing Resorts in Florida! It was a surprise for my 34th birthday and it did not disappoint. It was right at the beginning of COVID-19 (March 13-15) but the entire resort was open and operating all activities. We stayed in a teepee (A MUST) and was blown away by the amenities. We did every activity at least twice. Skeet shooting and airboat rides were our favorite. I love riding horses so the riding was fun however, they should offer a more advanced riding option for those who have more skills and knowledge. Their ride is very slow. The rodeo was entertaining and the after party was a blast! The staff were friendly and accommodating and the regular patrons in the saloon welcome you with open arms. We will definitely be back and bringing our friends and family!
Horseback ride and special valentine dinner we re one of the best we experienced. Small caveat: There are no professional photographers so take plenty of your own pictures. Would be nice to have photos of us doing everything on the Ranch and select the ones we like to purchase before leaving. Westgate should use photographers at all of their resorts but don t yet as of this post. Disney and cruise ships have tons of pictures to choose from and buy the ones you like. I hope Westgate reads this and takes my advice as a long time owner. Missing: Helicopter and airplane rides from their private air strip. All 50 horses are obviously well loved and cared for much better than other riding stables. Fantastic stable manager who loves his job and every horse there: makes for a safe and extra special ride and value for the money! We will be visiting River Ranch again!!! Unlike other Westgate Resorts, finding parking was not an issue here!
One of the best FL Ranch experiences you can get! Rodeo, golf carts for easy access, golfing, skeet shooting, airboats, and much more! All the fun camping activities with plenty of excursions! Starbucks on site for you coffee lovers!!
Great place. Saloon was awesome. Our room was clean. Tons of activities for the kids. Restaurant food was good. Will def be back next year for Relaxin on the Ranch
Ordered steak sandwich, super small portion and took a while even there being no other customers there. Food is okay. Should update the menu. Ate here for dinner and breakfast.
Attend Relaxin at Ranch this weekend. Such a great venue with excellent accommodations. The Deluxe Lodge Suite was cleaned upon arrival and they let me check in early. Can t wait to come back next year.
Magical! Is the only way I can describe Westgate River Ranch! We stayed in the Glamping Tents. The team members are caring and the to the activities are so much fun! We went horse back riding, rode on the swamp buggy, did trap and skeet and pet the animals at the petting zoo. We ate several times at the Smokehouse which has amazing food! The whole experience was amazing! I can't wait to visit soon!
We have never stayed at the ranch but we have visited for the rodeo several times. Great family fun! The restaurant is wonderful and our small children loved the animal petting. Someday we would like to stay in one of the teepees!
We just spend the weekend there. We were Glamping it was amazing. The tent have all the comfort and you have your own bathroom. Staff is exceptional and so friendly. The whole ranch offers a lot of things to do and give you the opportunity to relax with your family. Don't forget your bike.
Everything was good expect the golf cart rental experience. It's impossible to get one unless you sit in the check out area until one becomes available. Really?? Have some kind of waiting list!!! Wifi is not free which is ridiculous as well.
Great place to come and vist. Loads of stuff to do. We did the hayride and dinner and the rodeo. The hayride was cool didnt get to see any wildlife though sadly but still had a good time. The sinner buffet was good nothing great. The rodeo was fun the seats were very uncomfortable same with the hayride, otherwise great place to have a little trip. Would definitely recommend.
Great getaway. We have a motorhome and love this place. Rent a golf cart so you can go everywhere. Rodeo, skeet shooting, fishing. Just enjoy the outdoors.
The entire Westgate Resort is amazing. They have so much to do for all ages. All of the staff are extremely helpful and do everything they can to make sure your stay is enjoyable. We were there for the Relaxin on the Ranch car show which was awesome. Can t wait until next year! Special shout out to Tanya in Group Sales and Dean from the Saloon!!
Just came back from our weekend at River a Ranch. We initially started with Glamping. Private bathrooms were dirty . Really? With covid?! We were disappointed that the Smokehouse Grill. 3/4 of the menu had been removed! Probably due to COVID? No specialty drinks available. Our dinner was served on paper ware with plastic utensils! Surprising for the pricing. In addition, my party of 7 was separated. We asked to be in 2 booths next to each other because I had 4 children! There were other parties seated together of up to 12 people yet we were forced to sit apart? Had to keep getting up to cut their food, etc More than 10 ft. away larger parties were accomodated with only 2ft of space to separate them from strangers in front/behind them? Staff had no common sense. . Staff and service was extremely slow and not attentive. But they were overly concerned with seating my family together more than 12 ft away from any larger party? Again makes no common sense. Had to call someone over to make sure A/C was working. Temp in tent was 108! Unfortunately, the A/C units are not strong enough for these canvas tents. I was informed they will be getting better units that will be more efficient. When we were here last April, no issues at all! Tents stayed cool, so I recommend glamping in the cooler months. We were moved to the deluxe lodges. Units were very nice, A/C was great. Unfortunately, one of the units had the prior guests loofah sponge hanging in the shower. Made me wonder how clean bathrooms really were. Hello? COVID? The archery and horse back riding sign up people seemed more than annoyed we were there. My party had been asked to step on the scale to ride the horses. Funny because no one did that last year! Nor did they do that to the other parties that were there. We were all well under weight, however my daughters boyfriend was 2 pounds over. He is 17 years old. I understand the rules however, they need to find a way to not humiliate people. He was very upset and We all felt so bad we had to leave him behind. In hindsight we should have all refused to ride and demanded our money back. Completely ruined our vacation. I felt pure discrimination. If your going to weigh people, weigh everyone! Not just the party of the person with one person over weight. Totally unacceptable to humiliate a child! The swamp buggy guy ignored our questions, then asked for a tip at the end! Tacky is an understatement! I would have graciously tipped and very well if any of the employees had a pulse! Additionally, I had called Sunday night to confirm activities like zip lining etc, were open Monday. They confirmed what flyer said, yes. We were disappointed that they in fact were closed Monday. The gentleman at the petting zoo was very friendly and wonderful with all the adults and kids. Hope they can get their act together so we continue referring friends and consider coming back. Complete disappointment and many other patrons felt the same. I look forward to hearing back from management.
The experience was different and awesome. The only bad thing was that they don t include wifi and you get 0 signal here but other than that is an amazing get away.
We went to the Ranch for a relaxing and safe weekend during Covid. We were assured that social distancing and masks were required indoors and at the Rodeo. The resort does not follow the COVID required guidelines. Masks are required at the general store and at the main building when we checked in. That was it. The Adventure park was packed with adults and children who did not wear masks. There were too many people to social distance. The rodeo was packed and the many of the attendants took their masks off after entering the stadium. The rodeo contestants (sweaty and without masks) kept coming into the stands and knocked into us as they socialized with their family members who were also not wearing masks. We left. We spoke with the front desk the following morning and they claimed that they have no control over the rodeo and that it is run by a third party. That is not what they told us when I inquired about my safety concerns re Covid when I called them. Luckily, they refunded our money for the rodeo. We were told that the glamping tents were air conditioned. The tents were unreasonably hot. According to the thermometers brought by us into the tents, the temperature was 94 degrees. So they moved us to a two bedroom cottage. The accommodations were deplorable- filthy and outdated and not as pictured online. We were not given dishwashing or hand soap for the kitchen. The dishwasher wasnt working properly. We requested body wash or soap for our bodies and towels numerous times, which we finally got the night before we left. We requested garbage bags but never received them. The pull out couch in the living rooms was filthy- there were chips left inside the bed. The general manager attempted to accommodate us by comping us a golf cart. That was the only redeeming item that we enjoyed at Westgate, even though it ran out of gas the first night we received it. All in all, the price of the cottage was higher than a 5 star resort and was unacceptable to my family. If you are willing to spend the money, go to a 5 star resort so you can receive 5 star accommodations. Don't waste your money at Westgate .
The office management and staff here is RUDE. HORRIBLE PEOPLE. I don't know who taught them their manners but respect will take you a long way and they haven't deserved any in return from me.
We took our son glamping for his birthday. The property is amazing and our son and friends had a fun time. However the glamping tent was facing west and in the sun all day. Air condition never went below 81 degrees. Tent had a hole in the front and we had wasps and mosquitoes coming in. Staff did not accommodate a move even though several other tents were available in the shade. Front Desk and Glamping Concierge told us we can't move because of COVID 19. I assume it would have required special cleaning. We had a fun time overall but staff was not helpful on site. Reservation experience and Catering set up was a delight, very helpful and informative. Glamping breakfast was delicious.
Beautiful place for your family and friends with a casual atmosphere, cozy teepees, cabins and permanents tents. I enjoyed so much my ride in bicycles and the golf cart around the huge property . God price when you book your room .I love all the amenities and activities...amazing experience in the petting zoo ...thank you to all the staff for a great customer services
Absolutely awesome. Had a great time with the family and church and we didn't have enough time to do everything so the family and I are making plans to return and stay longer on-site and hopefully stay in a teepee
We are Westgate Owners of a two bedroom every year (we have been owners since 2004 and as of August 2019 we paid off our mortgage) and it was our first time staying at River Ranch! We loved it so much we want to live there...no kidding! We stayed in Saddle Club Cabin #2 and we loved every single minute of our stay. Everything was perfect! The wrap-around porch has always been my dream and to be able to see buffalo and horses from our porch was heaven to me! All the activities we participated in (archery, mini golf, fishing, and my great granddaughter rode on the pony ride and we all enjoyed the petting farm) were amazing not to mention just relaxing which is what we needed the most. Every single employee was kind and very helpful. Any time we needed anything they were always so quick to help and we can't say enough good things about our experience!!! We will be definitely be back. Love this place and everything about it!!!!
Before I talk about the place I'd like to talk about the people. What an outstanding group! Ray the general manager is a real deal cowboy with a heart of gold. Bucky and Dalton are 5 star individuals who'll give you the shirt off their backs. Great job! The Luxe Teepees are uniquely made and extremely comfortable. The A/C works fantastic even in July. The old growth canopy of live oaks perfectly nesteled the teepee village. I really didn't want to leave.
It was my first time at the West Gate River Ranch. I was there for the Relaxing on the Ranch car show. I was blown away by this place. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The grounds are kept immaculate. I will definitely be back to the venue and resort for personal stays as well as Car Shows.
Staff is excellent. Some of the workers do not speak English, as they are probably from Mexico. However, enough of them do speak English so you will find someone you can communicate with. The adventure Park for the kids only operate when it's busy, I think topically on Saturday and Sundays. The the cabins are beautiful. Very relaxing and laid back atmosphere. Limited cell and wifi
After reading the reviews, I decided to share my own experience. First of all, it s like camping, so when a cricket and even a tree frog stowed away in our teepee, we just had a laugh and got the little guests to safety. Our teepee was really cool and perfectly suited to fit four people. There s a bed, a pullout couch, a fireplace, dinette, and claw shower/tub. The pullout bed isn t super comfortable, but I ve never been on one that was, so that point is moot to me anyway. There were some kind of bugs on the bed, but I sprayed some lavender/lemon mist on the sheets, and we didn t have a problem afterwards.
Unfortunately, we came right after the corona lockdown so certain things were still closed. With that being said, they seemed a bit short staffed right now, but I think it s just because many people are still taking into consideration the various stay at home orders.
Everyone was very nice. The Director was by far the most accommodating of them all. She is great! She really tried to accommodate us and reschedule activities when they could because of the constant rain. It rained a lot because, well, it s Florida and we know that comes with the territory. We made the best of it, and I think we had a great time. All in all, in one and a half days, we managed to partake in: horseback riding, archery, air boating, trap shooting, crafts, petting farm, s mores, and mini golf.
It is on the expensive side, but the teepees are all inclusive, so that was a great bonus. But prices are on the website, so it really shouldn t surprise anyone. I should say that the teepees also come with a golf cart and a complimentary breakfast (juices, croissants or cereal, etc.). They were also super kind to drop off cookies and milk around lunchtime, which was a sweet surprise.
The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that no one told us certain things were closed (I m assuming because of corona), such as: the game room, the Grill, workout room, and the adventure park (which is only open certain days, check the schedule before you book!).
We were able to get delicious lattes in the General Store; so for me, coffee makes everything better
Overall, we had a great time, and I appreciate all the staff did to make our stay pleasurable.
This was my first camping experience and it could not have gone better! Stayed on the "primitive campsites" which as advertised had a nearby bathhouse that was clean and accessible. The rodeo was really well done and fun to watch! All activities were reasonably priced and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Lots of animals to see up close and personal and there was a restaurant on site though I didn't visit and a general store that has all the necessities. Access to the Florida trail nearby as well...truly something for everyone! Great experience! Affordable and fun...would recommend to anyone!
Westgate River Ranch with driving past we had to stop best choice of my life I love this place I was with my girlfriend her son and his friend best times of their life their words exactly great family-orientated please with all the fixings we arrived and got a room straight away there is rock climbing zip lining the best petting zoo rodeos we rented a golf cart Cruise the property dune buggy rides just straight awesome worth every dollar
If you are staying at their RV sites be careful with the power outlets. Two different meters of mine warned me about a faulty ground and reversed polarity on the 30amp RV outlet. The maintenance crew was so pathetic they wouldn't even get out of their truck to test the outlet, just told me my equipment was bad and to either live with it or checkout. I had to run an extension cord to the next camping site to find a safe outlet to use.
So disapointed of the services. It is my birthday and wanted to do something different. I sent a message to the hotel through their fb page, they answered telling me to call to book. I called as they sugested to book a campsite. There were no camping sites available for the weekend, so I asked if I still will be able to purchase tickets for the rodeo since I will not be staying. The response was YES we are an open resort. So I decided to travel from GEORGIA and stay in a camping site close to the resort to be able to attend to the rodeo. Well when arrived to the town I called again to check if reception was open to buy the tickets for the rodeo...they say YES just come and buy them at the front desk. Guess what? Left there with no tickets because thet told me it was only for guests!!! And that I needed to wait until the day of the rodeo to see if by any luck I got some tickets. What kind of service is that? So the employees don't know how the business and tell people the wrong info? Why would they told me the two different times that I called that I was going to be able to buy tickets when that was not true? And make me and my family lose our time? Worst service received EVER! In top of that NOT A SINGLE SYMPATHY GESTURE FROM THE STAFF when I explained the whole situation and said that I traveled from Georgia just to attend to their rodeo event.
Hi my name is Robert I had a wonderful time working with Tammy and her staff to put together a wedding. She was on top of it all and was so wonderful to our party. She answered every question I had and if she did not have an answer she would get on. I will be going back to the resort.. And as for the pastor Ray he also was wonderful he sat with me and I had a great conversations with him what a great guy. I will and always will recommend them. And River Ranch in Lake Wal Florida,
The rooms had no ventilation whats so ever and the food at their only restaurant was just okay. They did have a lot of great activities on site for a price. I really enjoyed the horse back riding around the ranch.
Nice place but most everything is extra money$. Rodeo was excellent and airboats are fun. Not much for the kids to do in between. Super nice employees! ...added a star because of response from resort
Family and I had a great time! Dinner was good and the family friendly atmosphere was perfect! Also Relaxin On The Ranch was a fun show! Thanks for allowing it to be held on site!
The place is NOT a resort is a step up from a motel, the room had spiders, no ice machine, they don t allow late check out. The airboat driver is unkind, if your hate flys off, he won t even try to stop and get it. The mini golf course is outdated and never upgraded. For the activities in the adventure park, the kids have to wait in line for 45 mins to 1 hour for a 5 min ride. Also you have to pay for wifi. NOTHING is included in the lodge or cabin that you pay for. Also the animals in petting farm are poorly taken care of. The people at the rodeo hold seats for their stuff and the staff doesn t say anything. I will not recommend to anyone and will never visit again. Overpriced and overrated.
Visited some friends who were staying at this resort. It is nice and secluded but one small area of slight annoyance. At night, when trying to look at the stars. Being that it's in a secluded area away from a lot of light pollution, I was able to see many more stars than in other cities. But here was the slight problem. There were lights, illuminating a section of the road/parking near the skeet shooting section. The light was super bright and kept getting in the way of seeing more stars. It would be better if the light had a shade of sorts directing the light down instead of out into nowhere. All in all though, fairly well kept resort.
Really nice place! Lots of things to do! Just giving 2 stars because I booked a room for 3 and was 1 queen bed and a sleeper sofa (that's ok for the sleeper) but the mattress inside was not very clean, my 7yo old boy has allergies, and woke up really bad!! At the second night he wasn't able to sleep at the sofa, so was 1 queen bed for 3!
You book a room they put you somewhere else - you never know what you getting Super disappointed!!! Very expensive for this kind of cabin they put me in
I believe the stay and the rooms are not worth the price plus the restaurants need to upgrade that menu is horrible
But mainly I m making this review because the animals. Is a pet farm , The PONY ride is CRUEL literally they keep them there in the same chain spot all day. At least could make a better place for the kids to ride it.
And the space for the BambiS are too small they are very wild should not be in a small cage. Same goes for the only one Lhama , what is mean that at least put two animals together not one alone .
If they could improve this things with more love the hotel would be more worth it and with a good spirit
The resort itself is nice. Staff are fantastic, several things to do, but with a big pricetag for some of it. Rodeo was fun, petting zoo was fun (stay away from the llama though!). Lots of wildlife. See a bald eagle on our way in. So...We stayed at the primitive camping area. Unfortunately, we didn't know how primitive. You pick your own site in the field. We found a nice spot under a tree. However... After an hour or two of light/moderate rain, the field they put you in is underwater. Nothing but mud and puddles. Got lucky that the day we left it had dried some and I was able to get my truck out, although barely. Had to rent a golf cart to go anywhere. Yes, it's called primitive, I know, but for 50$ a night for a spot in a field, they should warn you about how bad the field floods, and maybe build some drainage?
We visited the resort for a beautiful Valentines evening. The hayride, elegant dinner, desert and the atmosphere was absolutely stunning. The staff were outstanding and made you feel like you were right at home. The kitchen staff did an excellent job at making the night one to remember.
I waited for a minute to write this review because I wanted to make sure my expectations were realistic and I wasn t just upset. We came here for my birthday weekend today. It was just me and my 9 and 4 year old daughters. I was excited to relax with them and do some fun camp stuff. We booked a platform tent since the tent is big and already set up. It is $110 a night for this space but I was totally willing to pay it for the convenience of not having to buy and pitch a tent. So to book for 2 nights, it was $220 total. When we pulled onto the property, we were so excited. It s beautiful and seems well run. However, when we were escorted to our platform tent, I had to do a double take. There are five platforms tents around a tree in a circle and each tent is probably less than 10 feet apart. On top of that there were 40 people at least in that area and about 20 of them were kids. The kids were crawling all over our platform. It was general chaos. When I called and asked if there was anything I could do about the fact that I didn t have a picnic table available to me, I was told I could go use one across the street. When I mentioned I didn t feel comfortable being so close to so many people, they told me I could go to a store and buy a tent and pick a different campsite. I think this could work for some people, but it s just not what I imagined. We were looking for somewhere safe where we could social distance and relax and what we got was a giant open space, but with tents right on top of each other, people on all sides of us and kids running everywhere. My girls and I ended up leaving at 10:00 pm to drive an hour and a half home. I just think in the times of Covid, maybe not filling all five tents could have made a safer and more comfortable stay given how close together they are. It s so awkward being able to hear everything the people next to you are saying. Not really what I pictured it to be and maybe that s on me for not looking more carefully at the pictures!!
