Still the place to go to gamble hang out even during construction only problem our group had was service at the tables, took way to long for drinks for the amount of money were spending and bar tenders at bars were not to nice so we ended up buying are own drinks from the store and playing poker slots at bar and bar tenders made us leave cause we didn't buy drinks from them so we sat at bar tables walking around playing slots and tables bar tenders need to be more chill with paying customers

I stopped by the casino at Grand Sierra which is pretty nice. It's spacious and there are a lot of newer games. The property is pretty modern overall which tons to do such as gaming, bars, and restaurants. I haven't stayed here overnight yet but I'm looking forward to trying it out. Only con is a resort fee which I'm not a fan of yet must of Reno seems to have them.
Photos from American Beekeepers Federation Convention. A nice conference hall and great facilities. Only downside is to have just one breakfast restaurant not many options.
The Bowlinv alley was huge. It's open 24 hours and has an amazing juxbox. The pricing was reasonable and was available. I would definitely reconomending this as a bowling place.
Resort is very nice. Grand ballroom was a great venue for dancing with the Stars show. Disappointed with the Rim food. Sushi with crab was really krab..fake crab. Spoiled it for me especially for the price.
The pool and spas were really dirty. Specially at night you can see better After everyone swimming gross. I know they don't have time to clean at night but still. The free rooms are nice except for the toilet. You can't move in there. Very tight squeeze. And don't expect to have room to swim now that they let the public in just pay a small fee. You don't have to stay to swim. Very crowded.
Beautiful resort with ALL the amenities. No need even to go into Downtown Reno, it is all right here. They have the pool and sauna, gambling, restaurants, a night club with a very popular guest list and a huge theatre. It is beautiful. We had a great time and took the Zypher train into town. Beautiful trip.
Got upgraded to a grand suite, and it's literally the nicest thing to see after driving all day and checking in past midnight. Room is clean and comfortable, and overall very nice.
Disappointed this year. Hotel seems to be under perpetual construction and room and customer service was less than stellar. Hallways dirty, room not cleaned very well. Sad.
On March 15, 2019, my Michael Kors (very expensive) winter coat was stolen from the bellhop at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV. The entire security team failed at their job and an employee got away with theft.
Here are the facts: I saw footage of my coat on the bell cart from when I arrived. The coat never made it to my room and someone stole it while in their care and Bill Nagel and his team covered it up. They obviously do not want it to be known to the public that their staff steals so they provided me with very limited camera footage. Do not trust anyone at this hotel and DO NOT let the female blond lady near your belongings.
Stealing is just wrong and she is a terrible human being for taking what wasn t hers. I truly hope this hotel cleans up their act and starts hiring decent human beings moving forward.
Atm machines all down. Incredibly long lines at cashier and promotions desk. Poor payouts. Staff constantly walking within inches of patrons because the lines are so long there is nowhere else to walk. Very meh.....
Amazing, you literally could live here, get married, do everything you want to in life at this one place! There are VR games, bowling, weddings, clubs, ball pits, golfing, an amazing pool, and rooms. You literally could stay here forever until your debit card died. I forgot all types of shopping. Oh, I forgot the ONLY $4 movie theatre in the country! Beautiful rooms with beautiful views!
Stopped while trucking, they have huge, wide open parking lots. 5 stars for excellent semi truck parking opportunities. But here's the real story: The place feels rich, and while checking out the casino, restaurants, & shops, I was greeted by a very pretty woman who had perfect curves and valleys in all the right places. She seemed very nice, and commented on the fact that I was wearing a very bright yellow shirt. I explained that I am on the road all day, in & out of my truck, so I wear bright shirts so as not to get creamed by a passing vehicle. The smile on her face while introducing herself to me was beautiful; I suspect the one on my face was goofy. Then, in a flash, with that winsome, beautiful smile and such salesmanship that I almost fell into a potted plant behind me, she asked if I wanted to get a room and "have some fun"! Well, I did my best to recover, and after dusting myself off, I inquired a bit about her intentions and discovered that it would be her pleasure to relieve me from the burden of carrying "a couple hundred" of my hard-earned dollars in exchange for the previously-mentioned fun. I was flummoxed; the conversation was just tearing along faster than I could easily manage. It's a bit hazy at this point, but I think I started making mistakes in conversation like a goof in a B movie from the 1980's, probably because the blood in my brain was being diverted elsewhere. While I was trying to figure out how to cover up where the blood from my brain apparently WAS going, she just gave me one more shining smile, and gently touched me while saying, "Have a beautiful night!" We both went our own ways, she in her wondrous, jiggling in all the right places way, and me probably looking like a deer blinded by staring into her headlights, if you catch my meaning. I must admit, the temptation was profound for a few minutes; we men really are such dunderheads sometimes, and you of the fairer sex out there have the most obscene power over us at times. I was left feeling almost as smart as a loaf of bread. Thank God, there was no accident that night, but I'm rethinking the wisdom of spending time in casinos. And wearing those bright shirts. I might be better off just getting run over on the highway.
Been attending a yearly convention here the past 4-5years, the staff and venue has always been great. Never had to wait to check in and very understanding even when I messed up on my part one time. The only negative would be the elevators being down for the weekend but I managed. Can't wait to be back next year!
For a standard night it is a good price for fun. There's a pool, different dinner food places, wine bar, bowling, and the food never disappoints. If your looking for a quick night out for alot of fun this is the place to go. In the city, overall this is a very nice place to stay. They have good room decorated, atleast 1 tv, and the beds a very comfortable. If your looking for more information go onto the site but this is a summary of a good night's stay of fun.
My wife and I visited Reno to get away for our anniversary and we decided to stay here. We stayed in the Diplomate suite thanks to the manager. I must admit it was the best room I've ever been in. I couldn't believe how big and beautiful it was. I booked the standard room and she blessed us with the best room in the hotel. Everything was Perfect! And the hot tub in the room was icing on the cake. We will definitely be back again. Until next time Reno.
The smoke was terrible. I could not stay on the game floor because of it. Luckily I was there for a conference and had no need to gamble (or give my money to the casino). Event space was excellent compared to other venues. Food was great at the restaurants. I don't think I will return in the future because I didn't find Reno (the area) that enjoyable.
We were there for a day at the pool. It was packed and shade was extremely limited, but it seems they'll let you bring your own umbrella so that may be a helpful tip. What was a real downer was the fact that they would not allow you to bring in outside food and the wait for food was an hour and a half, so don't show up hungry...the wait for drinks was equally frustrating, and we paid for three pinacoladas at $14 each that were not topped with whipped cream or anything, just blended into a small plastic cup, no frills.
The waiting lines for check in were extremely long. It was already around 11 at night and people were standing in that long line with tired children. There is only one counter with 2 staff members for check in, while the VIP counter was completely empty with several staff members. People are smoking indoors and in the common areas, even near the non smoking signs, and no one seem to do or say anything! Smoke smell is everywhere. Gives you a headache and health issues if you're sensitive.
We went to the Rim for all you can eat Sushi. We have been going here for several years and have never been disappointed. James is our sushi chef, he always knows what we order and always throws in a culinary curve ball. Thanks for being so consistently amazing.
Awesome hotel! The beach pool is awesome. The view of the surrounding mountain is breathtaking. Very close to the Reno Airport. A quick ride to downtown Reno, but who want to go there when there is so much in this place. There is also concert hall with big ticket shows.
Not only is this place huge and fun to be in but it's still growing and getting better. Bright lights, fun noises, and really nice and accommodating staff. Next time I visit Reno I'll probably stay here again.
This is a great hotel for individuals who want a good room and a decent price. However it is even better for families.
First, the room had an L couch. Turns out that it folded out into a bed. Plus the adjacent L section can be used for a smaller child. Room for three there without even taken into consideration of the bed you request.
The room had a fridge and a microwave. Plenty of kitchenette storage for those who may want it.
Outside the room, the resort has a swim pool with specialized childrens areas, multiple jacuzzi pools, go karts, a $4 movie theater, arcade, sports area, bowling center, golf store and golf putting zone, yogurt store and a number of little stores.
Food options include finer restaurants like a steakhouse through small pizza style places. There are quite a few. A little bit of everything for all different types of venues. Plus a buffet to go with them.
All in all, without going into describing the casino, nightclub, convention space and concert hall, this is a great one stop entertainment location for travelers.
The room was very large, the bed was comfortable. Parking was good, A great location if you are planning to explore the area, easy on and off the freeway and no dealing with downtown traffic. The casino is one of the best in Reno. We were given an upgrade at check in when they found out it was our 30th anniversary. Than you, we will be back.
My husband and I had a single King room. Lots of room to move around. No need to side step to move around bed. Nice sofa to sit and relax before bed. Huge bathroom.
Very big..nice hotel. Super smokey indoors while walking everywhere. Rooms are upgraded and nice but are missing microwave. Grand buffet is good, but need to come up with better way of moving the 2hr line!
Charged us 10 dollars to park for hot august nights . Even with a handicapped placard. Locals should not be charged for parking. Won't visit that place again.
First time there, didn t realize they had a bowling alley, and a 50 lane to boot! Latest technology with LCD screens and computers. Clean as well. The resort needs better signs and/or maps from the entrance to make it easier to find places.
Nice casino lots of different types of games. A lot of them newer games. My payback rate was only about 30%, so I didn't get much play at all. My wife did much better walking away with an extra $800. (About the amount I lost.)
Overall horrible service!! Overpriced and the rooms are dirty!!! There was gum stuck to the headboard in the room when we got there and the floors were dirty. For what you're paying it's really not worth it. The bathroom didn't have any toilet paper and the shower water didn't get hot. The staff does not care about provinding quality service. I very politely notified the front desk that there was gum stuck to the headboard when we got there and I was told they would take care of it but they never did. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere.
I ve been staying with Grand Sierra for almost 8 years! Always a great experience! This time I brought my mom and we stayed on the newly renovated 4th floor. This room looks like one of the upper suites! The new design- wallpaper, art, color scheme, counter tops & bathroom- completely luxurious. The beds are so comfy and frames look extremely regal! This isn t even mentioning, we booked a room for two nights, then one night after some confusion, and we then ended up showing up a day early- the sweet clerk gave us a more than fair rate and she checked us is so smoothly! I am currently visiting from out of the county and I can t imagine staying anywhere else. We gambled into the wee hours last night and the girls on the floor were so cheerful and the machines were pretty hot all around the floor! My mother and I thank you, Grand Sierra and staff! We are having a full on blast!!!
Casino hosts are friendly and outgoing. Room is spot on, clean, and has a lavish feeling. Conference room is spacious and open for vendor booths. Everything you could want in a casino/ hotel. The Wally World across the street is a whole other story.
Nice front desk staff, who let me know that the valet parking was free. The room was impressive, up to date design. The view was spectacular! There is a coffee maker, and a good sized fridge, but no microwave. There was a beautiful shower, but no tub. I will have to come back and stay, because I didn't make it to the pool, spa or bowling alley.
I will only stay here if we stay in the Summit Suite. Very nice and spacious. We don't like their other rooms. Food at the cafe was gross and none of the dishes were washed. Won't go back again to that restaurant.
We discovered this casino because we were going to be stuck in the Reno airport for twelve hours & an airline employee told us it was the closest & had a shuttle that picked you up. We were very happy to have somewhere to go & something to do. Originally, the rest of my family were going to hang out at Starbucks while I went gambling in the casino. Since I'd never been there, I didn't have any casino comps, but we decided that because my husband was so tired, we'd get a room there to be able to rest easier. The rooms were spacious & comfy & most importantly, quiet & with the curtains closed, dark. My son & I checked out the kids gaming area on the bottom floor & had a great time playing the large variety of video games. It reminded us the District area at the Choctaw casino in Durant Oklahoma. I spent most of my time in the casino & proceeded to lose more money than I should have but had a great time doing it. The casino had a huge variety of slot machines (my favorite), including many I had never seen before. We stored our bags with the bell desk even before we had decided to stay there. They were very friendly, efficient & helpful. The hotel desk clerk was also very friendly & helped me get the best (& reasonable )price available on a room, considering that I didn't have prior reservations & it was a Friday. Overall, we were very happy to discover this hotel & casino and definitely recommend it to everyone - whether you just have a long layover or whether you are looking for a great place to stay, located conveniently close to the airport, with a free shuttle to take & you there.
This place is amazing! Clean, great rooms, great place for conventions with lots of space <3 Biggest Little Fur Con takes place here annually. I'll be back in 2019! I hope. This place is pretty much my home now. I stayed here at the resort this time around and their rooms are so nice <3 10/10 convenience and comfort levels. I hope this convention never moves!
I love the grand sierra and would have rated them 5 stars in previous years, but I haven't been as happy with them as of recently. There prices have been increasing while the generosity of their comps has been decreasing. I get less attention from my casino host compared to my previous host. Still one of the best places in Reno, but not as good as they were in past years.
Grand Sierra gave mixed feelings, the lobby and casino were beautiful but the grand buffet wasn't as amazing as the price ($30) and they had to suddenly upgrade our room for another $40. Guest services said they would take 30 minutes to deliver a blanket, when we were about to go to sleep. Rooms were very comfortable otherwise and well furnished.
This hotel has smoke smell whetever you go, specially in the first floor where the casino is. The rooms although they are spacious they are run down. Also being next to the airport doesn't help, it is noisy. The only good thing is the nice theater where they have the concerts.
My favorite place to stay on frequent work trips to Reno. The upgraded rooms are very nice and the hotel is well maintained. The choice and quality of restaurants is top notch, with a very good steakhouse as my top choice. They seem to take the COVID-19 precautions very serious in the current state, which is reassuring.
Updated: After I sent this comment to the Manager of the front desk, she replied me right the way. She apologized for our first experiences at Grand Resort. Then. She refunded the resort fee of 2 nights for both of 2 rooms. She also offered us free room upgrade to Suite for our next visits to experience the Grand resort Again. The Suite is very nice and we were happy in the next visit.
O stars if possible.
My sister's family and my family went to Reno for staying 2 nights for celebrating Thanksgiving. We picked this hotel because we wanted to try something new and different, but there are a waste of money when we paid $110 + resort fee per night. Our room were 2 beds for each room.
There were a lot of problems and they could not do anything to solve our dissatisfaction.
1. The process of check-in: we already booked 2 nights and already paid for it online, but when we stayed there only 1 night and the next morning the house keeping came at 11am and told us that we were supported to check out already. I explained to her and she also checked with the front-desk but the receptionist asked we had to go the front desk and do check-in again for 2nd night, and also take the new card/key to access the room.
2. In the afternoon of the first day, we backed to the hotel after playing at the snow, the key/card of my sister's room did not work. We have 3 kids and all of them were wet because of the snow. And they could not go to their room to get dried clothes and got warm. We have to go the front desk again to get the new key.
3. The next morning - around 6am, the key/card of my sister's room did not work. We called the front desk again. They also asked us to come down stairs to take new cards AGAIN.
4. The bathroom items were not set up enough. There were missing soaps, shower cap, q-tips.
5. The buffet for Thanksgiving dinner was $39.99, special dishes for it were only snow crab and oyster. And this buffet is the worst buffet we have had in Reno so far. The rotten crab's legs and frozen oysters. Its dinner is worse than the morning buffet of Peppermill Hotel.
6. THE WORST - customer services. After we had so much troubles, we called the customer service department and let them know about our terrible situations (the room key did not work multiple times and it took us too many time to backward and forward the front desk for the same problem), but they listened to us, but there were not any feedback or explanation. When we check out, we reminded them again how bad their system and their customer services, the receptionist just said that he would let the manager know later and there were not any solution to calm our madness to this hotel.
I love that the casino has found a way to have line dancing. The dance floor is huge and there is a bar. My only suggestion is to have the cocktail waitresses check every table for orders while making rounds. I have been there 3 times now and the waitress walks right past my table every time. I don't mind going to the bar besides that it is always crowded. My only other suggestion is to have line dancing lessons earlier than 10 PM or on the weekend. I do not live in town I and can't drive in for the lesson that late at night on a Thursday, as I have work the next day.
We went to the kids zone for a birthday party and it was absolutely amazing. Our host was attentive and professional and the beer prices were good LOL.
Casino, stores, pool, and restaurants. Classic. The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom was phenomenal. Only things I wish were improved were the seats in the room and the view on one side of the hotel. It was pleasant to stay at though.
We sat down at this Rim Pan Asian Bistro to get a drink. The bar tender Jeremy Walker, was more than helpful and really knowledgeable with many different drinks beyond what was on their menu. Super easy on the eyes! Really friendly and very personable. I would recommend this place for a drink or two, just because of this young man's customer service.
This place never lets you down. The arena is a nice place, I doubt there is a bad seat in the place. The gaming floor doesn't have that customary ashtray smell, and the staff are friendly. Hot August Nights, Craps, Concert, or Go-Carts; GSR has you covered.
Been coming here for over a year as a local and get very little loyalty rewards and even on my birthday there s no freeplay. Customer loyalty and marketing is lacking when you get a free room but end up with a bill in the mail a month later. Quite shady
I stayed Oct.31, 2015. The room was amazing. Two King Beds and could have fit a third one in with room to spare. LOL It was clean and a very nice stay. Actually the nicest room I've stayed in ever. Now with that said, I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because I am disabled and they gave me a room that was the last row of elevators from the check in. Which was a very long walk for me. I use a cane, Then to take my service dog potty was another long walk, I do mean long. I was so tired and in pain by the next day I could hardly enjoy myself. I joked with one of my friends and told them I had to start my journey to take my dog potty. It would take a minimum of 45 min and that did not include walking him. So it is not a good place for the old or disabled. Now if you are active. Go for it. I loved Elements restaurant, great verity of food, and great service. People very friendly.
