We stayed over for a work party, the condition of the hotel was not great. Stained furniture, chipping paint and the most uncomfortable adjustable air mattress ive ever experienced. Had the room not been payed for by my boss i would never have checked in.

The hotel is conveniently located just off the expressway. I stayed here to attend some events in downtown Grand Rapids, which was only a ten minute drive away. My room was comfortable and relaxing. I would stay here again.

I would not stay here again. The staff was okay but not very friendly at all. It was almost like pulling teeth trying to get information on the shuttle at the front desk. The shuttle driver was awesome and very accommodating but every one else was sub par, at the most. The room was clean, bathrooms are outdated and could have been cleaner and shower heads are very SHORT. I m 5 3 and didn t fit under the shower head. There was no blow dryer in the room even though they said there was. We also had no Do Not Distrub sign. No one asked us how our stay was. The pool was the best part of the hotel. Would spend my money elsewhere.

Stink of clorine in the room too strong, blinds were broken, beds are hard with plastic sheeting, guests loud above and next door!!! For the price paid per night, I expected better than Holiday Inn Express but got Motel 6!!! Never going to come back!!

Went for a Sunday Assembly meeting at a banquet room. Room worked very well for our needs. About 80 people in attendance but would have fit more. Seems clean and worked well for our needs. Was told it was more affordable than other options in town.

Walked into the lobby and the staff was having a screaming match, something about fb and a lot of cussing. The pool had no towels and our room which we had set for an early arrival wasnt ready till 4. Had to get ready in a friends room for a wedding. Too much chaos and the "renovation" Is not very good. Cant open the bathroom door without hitting the toilet. This hotel is majorly lacking..

Do not stay at this place. I booked on Expedia based on the pictures and reviews. The place smells god awful like pesticides and wifi was useless. Everything is grimy. I only stayed in the room for 20 minutes and they wouldn't give me a full refund. Bad bad business and manager. Horrible way to do business Brad Schmitz!! Would have given 0 stars if I could.

Bad service & over price rooms...... The manager is horrible. I used my credit card. The let another guest extend a stay without my approval. & kept my deposit cause someone on the phone said it was OK.. rooms to high for nothing. Tha best thing is the food, sleep # beds, & room service.... Don't waste your time there.

Reserved 2 nights got into our room pulled sheets back full of black hair! Called for change of sheets a guy comes who doesn't even know how to change sheets went into bathroom the toilet had pubes stuck all over the base as well as back of toilet where I shut lid and pee under toilet lid! Was told cleaning people left at 3pm. Waited a hour to be switched to different room only to keep waiting so finally went to front desk wondering where our new room was to be told we would be refunded by expedia and they would relocate us to another hotel!!! I have pictures to post of all of this I also asked for a manager and was told johnathon had called in so no managers on duty! ! The front desk staff was so rude and so understaffed! They said they would switch our rooms only to keep waiting to be told deal with room or leave! Disgusted!

Really slow check in, and they didn't have our 2-bed room available. They ended up giving us two separate rooms as a consolation, but it was definitely a process. Looked like the place was under reconstruction, but really wasn't bad. The room was pretty standard. No real complaints, just nothing fancy.

So I have lived in Grand Rapids all of my life and currently live within a mile of the Grand River Hotel. I have seen it undergo several name (and management) changes over the years, Holiday Inn and Radisson just to name a few. However none have been very successful. After seeing the new renovations and hearing about the upgrades and the new outdoor bar area, we decided to give it a try for a night out with friends. So Glad we did! What a fantastic job they've done with the new renovations! The hotel lobby and bar have been upgraded to a much more modern, contemporary design and a clean, chic feel. (The rooms have all been newly renovated with the same modern upgrades as well, however we did not see the rooms) But the best part by far is the new outdoor bar/patio area! It is done right! Overlooking the beautiful Grand River, it also has firepits throughout. We had drinks out there while playing Giant Jenga and Giant Chess! Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that they had those too?! Our service was great, drinks were great and prices were good too. Overall, we had a great time and we plan to go back soon and even stay the night for a full night out and the whole experience!

Everything you read about double charging and beyond horrible customer service is true. They were bought out about a year ago and are truly beyond terrible now. Just wait until someone else buys them and stay in your car if necessary, you'll have a much better experience.

We booked two rooms for the night. The rooms were small, they did not have sleeper sofas like advertised, in both rooms tiles were falling off the base of the wall, the beds were super hard, the elevator was slow and there was only one for all of the guests.. the pool and hot tub is nice and the overall cleanliness was to par. Another big issue was parking, there was shipping containers blocking several dozen parking spaces.

Hotel staff need a complete 180 on hospitality. We drove several hours after work to arrive at the hotel at 1am, when we were told that the reservation was canceled. He got us a new reservation, but the amount charged to our card was over $75 more than the amount we signed for. We called to question and he said we were lying. 45 minutes later, the heater started blowing out cold air and the thermostat began flashing on the wall. When we called to see if he could check it, he said "What do you want me to do? Start a fire?". He did not offer a new room or even extra blankets, instead told us we can leave if we're not happy. By this time it is 3am, so we sleep in a cold room. After lukewarm showers, we decided to leave. During check out, we asked for a manager and the desk clerk said he won't be in today and we can "just wait all day if you want". He then started recording us with his phone and refused to call the manager or print a receipt to show that the second night was indeed canceled.

Looks nice on the outside and has a nice lobby. The person who checked us in was very nice but was FaceTiming someone while we were standing there with his AirPods in. We got to our room and thought it was nice until we tried turning on a lamp to the find out there s no lightbulb in it. And then looks in the corner and there was a torn up white beater on the floor. Good size room, but just trashy. For $77 a night it still wasn t worth it.

We stayed here for three nights.

The rooms were clean and very nice overall, but there were some oddities about the place that were a bit inconvenient.

When we arrived in our room, there was only one bath towel, and when we asked at the front desk, they didn't have any, and there was only one person there so we had to wait until morning for someone to bring one up.

There wasn't a channel guide for the TV in the room, we had to get one from the front desk, and the remote didn't work very well. The up and down channel buttons were broken, which was odd.

Other than that, we had a great stay. They had a great happy hour at the bar while we were there, and the bar staff were very friendly.

There is a pool with a hot tub, a fitness center, a computer with printer, and attached restaurant, but no free breakfast.

Not my idea of a premium level hotel, yes they had a driver and a van, however that money could have been much better spent. The shade on my window did not work properly, but since you could hardly see out the dirty window it was ok I guess. There was thick dust in several spots in the room. I m not sure what all was dead in the light in the elevator. The toilet seat was barely attached, and the shower head had no way to attach it to the wall. I ran the water for several minutes before it got close to warm. My 10 year old can do better plaster repairs than were done in my room. The stairway treads were completely worn off.

From the looks of it someone slapped some fresh paint and lime green comforters on a rundown old hotel. How this passes choice hotels premium standards is beyond me.

This was my first time staying at this hotel. I was very impressed by the inside of the hotel, it was beautiful! The hot tub and bar were the main reasons I picked this place, and I'd recommend it to other people.

So normally I do not write reviews, but I feel the need to on my experience at this hotel. I read the mixed reviews, but loved this hotel as a child before they re-did it, and like that they have the deeper pool. It's all been remodeled so why not, right?! Now I know why not.
Upon arrival into my room there was pop left over front the people in the fridge, the fridge DID NOT work, the TV DID NOT work, even the maintenance guy couldn't fix it, but atleast he did unclog the NASTY brown slush out of the bathroom sink. I wish I took a picture.
So then I complained and asked for a refund. They agreed to upgrade me. The lady at the front desk said, "Girl, I hooked you up. You have to move to the sixth floor but wait til you see how big your room is"...etc. Well, by upgrade I think they meant the TV and fridge worked in this room. It was EXACTLY the same room, but smaller. lol Even my 8 year old and 12 year old at this point are complaining.
We decided to bite the bullet and stay. The pool area, I seen 2 kids hit there heads on the floor. It's a good thing they have slippery tiles for flooring. But the actual pool was clean, so that was a nice change compared to the trip so far.
We ate dinner at the bar area. Now this, this was the only part of the trip that was great. The food was great, and our server was fantastic.
Moral of the story, do not stay here. They offer shuttles to bars and stuff, so I guess this hotel would be good for a drunken night and or trip, but not to stay with your children or to just relax. I WILL NOT be back, and still wish I took the refund and left.

We stayed and enjoyed our stay. We saw a show at 20 monroe and they had a free shuttle that dropped us off and picked us up. (even after they usually stop the shuttle at 11 and it was 11:30) And super friendly staff.the rooms are the perfect size for the price .

We reserved this for an event in GR ...it was way cheaper than other places a few miles closer. We were not disappointed! While I feel this is an older hotel they have done obvious work to fix it up. All new fixtures and amenities in the rooms. A beautiful (8' deep) pool and large sauna. Rooms are clean and well kept.

We would definitely stay here again in GR. No worries!

We had our wedding party stay here and it was hands down the worst customer service expierence. Aside from losing peoples reservations, they broke our shuttle contract, and said there was nothing they could do. One of our guests coming in from out of town, got checked into a room, went up to their room, only to find someone sleeping in a bed. Another guest got up to their room, and their toilet didn't flush with waste in the toilet. So their room was likely never cleaned.

No refunds, no breaks, nothing. Avoid at all costs. Terrible staff.

This is a very dated hotel in serious need of attention. In fact, during my stay, they were underway on a major renovation project. The restaurant, lounge, pool, hallways, elevator, and lobby seem to all be torn up at the same time which killed the ambiance completely.

Don't rely on the website, call ahead to check the status of the rooms and common areas before you reserve. They were lacking a few normal amenities that a lot of other hotels seem to have, like a hair dryer and safe. My room had a broken door lock and a sink that took forever to drain.

Upon my checking in, I was given a key to a room that hadn't been cleaned yet from the prior guest checking out. The entire staff were very friendly and accommodating. One other disappointment I'll mention, they closed the lounge several hours early one night to save money on labor because it was too slow they said. That was a huge bummer for my wife and me, but again, at least they were all friendly.

The room was okay. Clean. Our room was in the corner next to the elevator so VERY loud until late at night and again early in the morning. People were loud standing outside of it waiting as well. There is no complimentary breakfast and the breakfast buffet was just okay. Two employees at the front desk were sort of rude when I asked for more bath towels and one of them even rolled their eyes at me. The pool area is VERY dimly lit and you cannot see the pool if sitting in the hot tub. Very slippery tile floors in the pool area. Super small bathroom in our room, but we managed. The beds were not comfortable at all, but the pillows were good.

Enjoyed a nice breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and it's conveniently located to everything downtown. If we ever come back to Grand Rapids, we would consider staying here again.

Hotel was under construction, still was charged full price at 142 a night. Our room was very outdated. Paint and plaster all over the bathroom floor. I will never stay here again. A quality inn would have been better.

Broken fold out couch required daughter to sleep on floor. Was offered a measly $50 credit but apparently no one on staff has the know how to issue a credit to your account when one is due. Was actually charged an additional $50. After contacting multiple times over 2 months had to go directly to credit card company.

I have stayed at thousands of hotels across the country and across the world. Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect as I was by Ron at the front desk of this hotel. I will write about this in my travel blogs for many years to come warning people not to go to the Grand River hotel in Grand Rapids. Biggest pile of crud.
I'd rather stay in the heights in a roach motel than ever go back to this place again. And I am kind of grateful And they were so rude, I found a new place for cheaper and I keep seeing reviews about bed bugs...
And so much for renovation, the place is practically falling apart.

Great stay for the money! Free parking, staff was friendly and helpful when needed. The Shuttle was very accommodating (within reason) and the room was comfortable although bathroom was quite small imo for a river-view king bedroom. The restaurant downstairs could have been better, breakfast buffet was good with a decent variety of items (add $9.95ea). Sat 6:30pm dinner "ran out" of the item I desired and the alternative while it had good presentation, the chicken was dry. The Bar adjacent was somewhat standard, no specialty drinks/cocktails offered but the Bartender Bryan makes a delicious old fashioned. Would be a nice place to stay in warmer weather to take advantage of the amazing outdoor area.

It was ok. Though the walls were peeling and everything smelled like bleach and I had the sneaking suspicion there was a body in the mattress. Our floor seemed swelted and even the bed was moist...? It smelled clean but felt like mildew. It was an odd paradoxical situation
