Having rented an apartment from Mark Hay since the beginning of 2012, we have just enjoyed (almost comically so) some of the repairs/maintenance that we listed on our initial property condition report well over 12 months ago.

They are so terrible that it's laughable.

Don't trust them with your money or your home.

I have warned everyone I know looking to buy, sell or rent.

My partner and I are really happy with the recent dealings with Mark Hay.
It is disappointing to read negative comments about staff turn over- unfortunately, that happens!
Our property Manager changed before we moved house and we were understanding to that fact. We always had our calls returned and excellent customer service.

Mark Hay undertook the sale of our home at a difficult time in the Perth real estate market. As prices were falling and it was becoming a buyer's market, Mark was very encouraging and positive achieving a very satisfactory price in the falling market. He also helped us negotiate the purchase of an apartment in Fremantle for which we had been searching for a long time. He was an excellent negotiator helping us to achieve a good price and our required conditions. We thank Mark Hay for helping us to realise our dream of making a life style change from a suburban 4 bedroom home with large gardens to an inner city apartment.

I have recently sold my property through Mark Hay and I was greatly pleased with the service provided.We advertised the unit towards the high end of the price range and thought that it would take a few months to sell as there were other units listed for cheaper in the complex.
However, the real estate agent- Brian managed to get me the selling price that I wanted, and we had an offer 2 weeks after listing. He was always willing to go the extra mile; available to meet after hours or weekends, liaising with a difficult tenant, coordinating with tradesman (electrician and plumber) to do some minor work.
Overall I would recommend Mark Hay to family and friends.

I have been a tenant in a Mark Hay rental property for 18 months now here in East Perth. I have nothing but praise for this organisation. Every time i have needed an common maintenance issue addressed; even out of hours, my property manager has always been contactable. I have had any matters resolved swiftly and efficiently allowing me and my partner to get back on with or daily lives with as little stress and disruption as possible. My lease on the property will expire in 6 months and we will be in a position to purchase here in Perth. Given the exceptional service we have received through their management department i will not hesitate to put my purchasing requirements in their capable hands.

We do not use Mark Hay Realty however the Property Management Team (Julie & Luke) attended a Strata Meeting on behalf of their owners and I thought they had extensive knowledge of the Act, were pleasant and professional and added a lot to the meeting that was missed out.

Extremly unprofessional and unhelpful. Real estate agents are one of the least respected members of society and this company is why. Charge a fortune and provide nothing, i had to go and sort out the apartment i leased through mark hay myself on numerous occasions as they were not helping my tenant with some dangerous electrical faults. I have been scared by mark hay and will not be using any agents again for my property.

We recently went with Mark Hay for our rental property. Emma is very friendly and helpful. She s very professional and got us a better result than expected for our property.

Kong Wong is the most driven and dedicated Real Estate Agent I have ever come across in my 40 odd years in settlements.
He is precise, with attention to detail like no other. It is a pleasure to deal with Kong Wai's clients as he is always there to lend support and follow up where necessary.

I've bought twice and sold twice through Mark and his team now. Always hardworking and professional - working persuasively to maximise the return for the seller, but also listening to market feedback to see where the deal should be. I really respect Mark, Kong Wai and the rest of the team and trust they serve you well too.

Rebecca has been wonderful to deal with. She is approachable, and deals with any issues efficiently.

Our tenancy with Mark Hay has been a nightmare from start to finish, I really wish I could give them 0 stars. Our experience was so bad that we decided to leave a flat we cherished solely because we couldn't deal with their lousy service anymore.

Receiving any form of communication from them seems an optional, something they don't really have to do.
It took them ages to fix little issues in our flat that could have been solved in a day.
Just to give you few examples: broken microwave - 3 months to replace; broken window s glass 7 - months to replace; broken washing machine - 5 weeks to replace.
N.B. They started to deal with these problems only after several emails and written complaints.

And there is more!
When we moved in we ve been given a condition report that did not reflected the actual state of the property at all. Some items were missing, the property was extremely dirty and infested with cockroaches.The pictures attached to the condition report were probably taken 5-6 years earlier and showed a brand new immaculate flat, while in reality the flat was badly maintained and most of the furniture broken. Obviously, we reported the inaccuracies straight away but we found out only at the end of our tenancy that no amendment was made to the original condition report.

If you're looking to rent a property in Perth I highly discourage you to use Mark Hay s services, you ll have only headaches and you won't be looked after.
Likewise, if you're a landlord I would look elsewhere if you want a professional property management service.

Now a quick word to Mark Hay: don't reply to this review with cliches like Our Company is keenly focused on our clients experience or we take customers feedback seriously , because you obviously don't, you're only trying to save your reputation.
There are online reviews written 3/4 years ago that I could have written myself and it seems like you haven't done much to improve your standards.
During my 14 month tenancy I change 2 property managers and 2 head of property managers and the score was always the same: a terrible service. The only one who showed empathy and willingness to help was Casey Joseph. She even called me after business hours few times (and I guess she didn't have to) in order to update me on my enquiries. Let me see what happened to her? Ah yeah, she left the company! I really wonder why!

Kong Wai Wong is a superstar when it comes to Commercial Real Estate sales and management. Very knowledgeable, reliable and efficient. Highly recommend

I find her very efficient and helpful. She is always quick to respond to any requests or questions I have. A pleasure to deal with.

Unimpressed with the service. It is hard to put to words the frustration felt in trying to communicate with the company. For house issues it would often involve 5-6 calls and 2-3 emails for any true response on how the issue would be handled. There were also difficulties that my wife experienced last year when trying to vacate the property.

Looking at commercial property through this agent? DON'T. Mark Hay completely wasted our time, some of the worst business practices I have ever come across when negotiating / looking at a commercial lease.

Emma made moving into our first rental so simple and easy! She was very supportive and happy to answer any question we had.

THE WORST REAL ESTATE GROUP. They are very un ethical, un responsive, un professional.
They did not clean the apartment before we went in. THERE WERE GLASS PIECES ON THE FLOOR, it was dusty, stained, dirty.
the apartment was supposed to be furnished.
the micorwave, and kettle were rusted and unusable. The kitchen utensils, dishes were broken, dirty and grimy.
There were broken furnitures.
There were junk left in the house, in box, in robes.

They did not give a spare key or access to the building. They did not give mail box key until 2 weeks after we occupied.

Everytime i send email they do not respond properly.

Stay away from these people.

Mark Hay were responsible for managing a furnished rental property that I owned and I found them to be extremely inexperienced and incompetent - inspection reports were vague and left the impression proper inspections were not actually conducted at times, there were never any property condition photos taken before, during or after leases, inventory lists were not maintained, sets of keys and swipe cards weren't always recovered from the tenants and when a washing machine broke, I paid for a new one plus delivery within days only to find that the agent didn't bother to organize delivery for another couple of weeks, resulting in me having to pay the tenants laundry expenses for this period of time. I've even had some tenants contact me directly to complain about the agent so I guess there's bad service at both ends from Mark Hay's property management dept and the final straw came when the agent missed the end of a lease and allowed a tenant who had at times been in arrears with his rent to remain in the property after the lease had ended making it difficult legally to then get him out. I could go on.....After this nightmare, I changed agents and couldn't believe the difference in efficiency, competence and service and their management fees were less too! Be very careful about using Mark Hay to manage your property as it could end up being more stressful than if you'd managed it yourself.

I agree with the other reviews on here. I used Kong Wai Wong here and trusted him. But he let me down badly and I ended up paying a lot more for the property than I should have! Very unhappy and me and my family will never use Kong Wai Wong or this agency ever again!

I went to some of Mark Hay's seminars as a 17 year old, and learnt the basics of property investing. I remember Mark talking about buying small apartments on Terrace Road in Perth for $39,000. Mark had a genuine approach that was easy to understand and not 'salesy' like so many others. 23 years on, I run my own business in Melbourne, The Property Mentors, teaching people to build wealth by investing in property. I recently reconnected with Mark, and am pleased to see that he is still out there running his successful business and helping people. I would highly recommend Mark and his team, in business for all the right reasons, genuinely helping people, and passionate about what they do.

We use Mark Hay Realty as Strata Managers. Having had bad experience with Strata Managers in the past I can say the team goes the extra mile to assist our strata run as smoothly as possible. The advice they give is the best for our strata. 5 stars are well deserved.

I recently concluded a tenancy at a Mark Hay property, and I've been very happy through the entire tenancy, including the pre and post tenancy stages. The service has been great.

My Property Manager was Ross Turner, and previously to Ross, Lauren Searle. Both were fantastic. They do all communication electronically if you want, which I really prefer to having to mail everything. They're also good over the phone if you need more urgent/synchronous communication.

Inspections were all given more than adequate notice, occurred within the time specified on the notice and were very professional.

Two repairs, one smoke alarm inspection(this was at the same time as one of the repairs), and one pest inspection/baiting occurred during my tenancy. All were carried out professionally and I was satisfied with all of them. It was good to see these preventative things being taken care of, I know a lot of places don't bother with something until it really becomes a problem. They made sure the property was kept in good condition. Although, I should say I'm not sure how much of this is up to the management company, and how much is up to the owner. I assume the company plays at least some role in it.

The one thing that I can find to complain about(I always have to find *something* ;P) is that I did receive a breach notice for a missed payment. Of course, I did actually miss the payment so I guess it's fair enough. It would have been nicer to get a warning(I had forgotten, and did pay immediately), but the breach didn't actually impact me in any way, so not a big deal.

Overall I've been very happy, would recommend.

Very incompetent. I had to chase them up for things that are expected to be done by the real-estate themselves, including chasing up my bond from when I left the property one month prior, to which I found out the bond release form wasn't even sent in to the bond office. I had called and sent emails to my property manager, for weeks before I found out that they no longer worked for Mark Hay. I had left messages with the receptionist (one per day) requesting for the property manager or anyone to get back to me as I had received no response from many emails sent for many months and not once did I receive a courtesy call back. This is just the beginning. I could write a novel on Mark Hay and their incompetence and unprofessionalism. If you value you property or tenant and would like a positive experience in the real-estate sector, I would strongly advise to stay away from Mark Hay Realty Group.

Andrew from Mark Hay is exceptionally fantastic. I rented with them for 3 years and he was so helpful! This was my first rental experience so I had heaps of questions and he always answered with a smile. If I ever needed to contact Mark Hay, they were always ready to help. They were also EXTREMELY accommodating whenever I needed to make any changes to my agreement they always did their best to help me. I highly recommend renting with Mark Hay.

Please don't rent from them. If you need anything done, they won't listen. All they care about is money. Please stay away from this real estate agency.

We went to see some flats in the Ellement complex (Hay street near QV1) with miss Catherine Rowland in March 2016.

First of all, we found her extremely arrogant and unhelpful, she answered all our questions in a rude manner.

All the flats we have seen were extremely dirty and had major maintenance problems (broken furniture, mould in the toilets/bathroom, broken windows). This made us think that they don't really look after tenants when problems arise.
When we asked about the flat's conditions basically her response was "you lease it as it is", which means hiring a professional cleaner at our expenses.

We really loved the flats but we decided not to use Mark Hay's services because of their attitude and awful customer service.

I bought a unit through Daniel and I found him to be pretty trustworthy and patient. It made buying my first place that little bit less stressful. I would recommend him if you're looking to buy or sell.
