Hotel itself was ok... the shuttle service on the other hand I would not recommend unless you don't want to be picked back up! They left me and my girlfriend and her 6 year old daughter out in the freezing cold rain after the kiss concert for an hour and a half.. we had to find a ride back to the hotel with strangers! Don't use the shuttle service! The gave us half off our bill! We will not stay at this hotel again!
This place seemed nice till you look close. The restaurant is closed so no breakfast but if you want something be sure not to miss on the so called bag breakfast. But I wouldn't know, I never made it 'in time' to get one. One night we came back to a room that hasn't been refilled with anything. My husband went to the desk to ask for coffee packs and coffee cups that were never refilled in the room that day but he never came back with any. He wasn't happy. He talked about how rude and condescending the man was. I couldn't get details but it was best for me not to push.
We were asked if we wanted to reduce the days of cleaning the room when we checked in. We agreed to do the bed making ourselves but we did want things refilled, trash removed and new towels each day. But no, we got no refills and no clean towels but the used towels were rolled up and put back on the shelf. Not happy about no coffee at all. Oh, and the crack I made about looking close. The bathroom, uck, caulking was done over the old mold. The sink air vents were filled with mold also.
Very nice hotel, loved the shuttle for downtown. For the price they should include the breakfast with the stay.
Rooms weren't clean at check-in. We waited almost two hours to get our rooms. The front desk manager was helpful but some of the rest of the front desk staff was not. The hotel has been updated but corners were definitely cut. All told, it was clean and acceptable.
Only reason I give this place 4/5 stars is. Almost every hotel in Grand Rapids has a free complimentary breakfast but here. They put that out there, and it a full 5 stars all day. I've never swam in the pool, so I dont know anything about that. The lounge/bar is very nice, I've been in there. The rooms are affordable and clean. Beds are comfy.

Great hotel, great price. The person who checked us in was extremely polite, great first impression. The fitness center needs some updating. The covid breakfast was better than most other places we've stayed. Will definitely stay here again.
Hotel shuttle left about 25 guest downtown after concert in pouring rain and when called front fest they said there was nothing they could do and when called shuttle driver there was no answer. All of us had to find a ride back on our own.Tried to contact management the next few days with no return calls. Choice privileges tried to talk to management 3 separate days with no reply.I DO NOT recommend staying here. Look for better service elsewhere.
They have the balcony from the outside but you can't go on them. And you can't even open a window.

We came here for a good night's sleep after a long day of travel and were severely disappointed. I have never given a bad review, but this experience was truly disappointing.
The hotel itself is very nice and clean, but my compliments stop there.
We arrived at the hotel around 5:00 pm to check in and then left to go get some dinner downtown. When we came back around 9:30, there was a very loud live band playing outside in the hotel courtyard right below our room. We were exhausted and hoping to go straight to sleep, so we called the front desk and asked when the music would end. They informed us it would end at 10:00.
At 10:10, there was no sign of stopping. Had we been informed about the band, or come here for a party, it would have been fine. But we had no idea this was a party hotel. We went downstairs to ask again when the music would be over,told them we were trying to sleep, and were told it should be quieting down at 10.
At 10:20, we called again.the music was not getting any less obnoxious. We asked if we could at least move to a room on the other side of the building, and were told they would call us back.
At 10:35, we still hadn't gotten a call back and the band was as loud as ever. We went down to the front desk and asked for a refund so we could leave and find another hotel. They refused to give us any more than 15% of our money back, and said the band would be done at 11:00. We were not happy.
The band did stop playing at 11:00, although we were told it would stop at 10. I was woken up multiple times throughout the night by loud, drunk voices in the hallways.
In the morning, we talked to to manager, who was extremely defensive and told us they have a band playing every weekend (we are from out of the state and would have no way of knowing this) and that we should have looked at the poster in the restaurant of the hotel advertising the band. We never went to the restaurant, because our room was in the opposite direction. The manager offered at 15% discount and never apologized, just repeated that we should have looked at the poster in the restaurant.
We are severely disappointed in the lack of concern for customer service at this hotel. We will never return, and i cannot recommend this place at all.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Complimentary shuttle was very convenient. Location just outside of downtown was a short drive to airport. Would stay here again next time in Grand Rapids.
I was very disappointed with my stay. My daughter got married nearby and we booked a block of rooms. There were not any perks for doing this even though 30 and more rooms were booked from our party. No reduced room rate, higher than what was quoted on website. I asked for a special room for my daughter, the bride and groom. The suite was a bedroom with an attached conference room and when I tnquired I was told the suite had some sort of leak in the room, no compensation for the problem. No special perks like a bottle of champagne .. Something for the couple! My sisters room the shower didn't work so they were told to use the shower in the room next door and not given another room. When I returned from the wedding, there was no parking to be had, several spots had heaps of snow. Most of the spots taken I believe we're from a large turn out at the bar in the hotel as there were several young drunks outside the front door, asking all hotel patrons stupid stuff. I would not choose this hotel. The wedding was this past March not at all a busy season..hate to know what June will be like sine several wedding venues are nearby. When I addressed these issues with hotel staff, they weren't helpful.
when you ask for a late check out you should not expect house keeping to knock on your door at 9am. The only reason I gave this hotel 2 stars was the awesomeness of the shuttle drivers
A few miles from downtown Grand Rapids, this hotel is affordable. Indoor pool and large hot tub, fitness center, fire pits, outdoor area with sleek patio furniture and lounge chairs, restaurant and bar, live music, free coffee and tea in lobby, free shuttle, eco-friendly. Looks like they were recently remodeled. The interior and rooms were modern, but the building itself old and kinda nondescript aside from the splashes of purple. We missed it coming off the highyway. Nothing much around to do. Most of the action is downtown a few miles away. Otherwise, we were very happy with our stay.
I went for Sunday Night Funnies. It wasn't quite as advertised, and the karaoke beforehand was too loud, but the food was good.
Dinner was not to good. Chicken and potatoes were warm at best. Asparagus was cold. Drink was worst I ever had. Icecream was great
Food was decent. Good beer selection. Friendly staff. Conference rooms are nothing fancy but they do the trick.
Enjoying our stay for competition weekend. Close to dining, highway, and sights. Pool is nice. Hot tub. Room is clean and maintained. Would definitely book again.
Front desk staff was very unwelcoming upon our arrival. Room was clean. River view was less than stellar given our room's location behind the meeting spaces. Did follow up with manager who said he would be talking with the staff.
Great location, hot tub was closed the two nights we were there, pool could used a Very Strong Good Scrubbing on sides and probably bottom, attached resteraunt not worth it but great good places close by to eat, old but okay, great helpful employees.
Horrible experience! We were originally put in a room with a tv with horrible reception and a broken shower head. Sothen they put us in a handicapped room with poor bathroom lighting and the flooring was still under construction with gross caulking and moldy spots. And then the restaurant portion was justplain weird and rude. We asked the host for a booth and he still sat us at a table even though there were plenty of booths available and he made fun of my gf after accidentally mispronouncing a word. Then the waiter was just a plain rude creep. The hotel also did not have an ice machine on the first floor so the desk told us to go to the bar that didnt even have a bartender.
Stayed overnight at the Grand River Hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We did ask for adjoining rooms, which we did not get, which proved to be annoying when we had to travel between rooms, but overall it was a nice stay.
This is a nicely remodeled space. The staff is helpful and friendly. I have only visited the restaurant space. On the day I was there 2 of the 3 women's restroom stalls were out of order.
Just don't. This was the only part of our wedding celebration that just everything went wrong (restaurant refused to serve us food but wouldn't let us have outside food/shuttle service never picked us up at the end of the night/our king suite was only cleaned after several bridesmaids spoke to the front desk on different occasions/etc.), even after several meetings with workers here prior to the wedding to make sure things were absolutely set up correctly. Luckily we had an amazing rest of the day from our other vendors. Stay far, far away, especially on your wedding day!
Good price for near downtown, nearby area is not nice. Rooms were basic, check in took ages. Bar and restaurant were ok. Bar was $7 a beer which is expensive for the area
Very clean room, everything stocked the way one expects for their room, nice bedding, comfortable king sized mattress, medium firmness. Had full access to all channels for cable including HBO included with standard room fee. Gave us 20% off voucher for the in house restaurant, also good, decent prices for a hotel restaurant even before discount. Food was good, we ordered ours to go to take to our room since they were nearing closing time, bartender took our order and was really nice. Husband and I each took a menu to order from, they were stacked together but one menu was outdated (had items they no longer served listed) and the other was current, so they should probably replace the old menus.
Front desk people really nice, open 24 I to sell snacks and drinks at the lobby. Offered us any floor we wanted. Decent in room coffee to brew in their little makers. Lobby has coffee too.
My only complaint is that the lamp by the TV in our room would randomly flash periodically, like some weird power surge. Not a flicker but a bright flash almost like a camera flash. Happened whether or not the lamp was turned on. Seems potentially unsafe like some faulty wiring.
I think it would be nice if they added room service too since they already have a restaurant. I'm not one for sitting in restaurants, as nice as theirs was decorated, I'm a bit of an introvert.
The staff in this hotel are an absolute nightmare. Me and some friends were staying here overnight for a concert, and after the concert we went to the hotel's bar. The waitress that we had gave my credit card away to the wrong person, and when I tried to figure out what happened I was met with extreme hostility from the bar's manager. None of the employees accepted responsibility for what happened, and after trying to get them to cancel the order the bar manager called the cops on us. They threatened to kick us out of the hotel because I was upset that they gave my card away (which is a HUGE mistake) and wouldn't leave the restaurant until the situation was resolved in some way. Now I have to go through my bank and cancel whatever the guy with my credit card bought in the restaurant. The way they reacted was absolutely unacceptable, and I would warn anyone who is thinking about staying here to stay the heck away.

Well decorated renovated building provides polite and enjoyable stay. Nice location with free shuttle to downtown appealed to us, as did the price. Interesting building with gorgeous pool and lounge area. Will consider staying again.

Beautiful lobby and common space with water feature and fireplace. Rooms have been updated nicely. Shades in our room were broken, thankfully we were on the 7th floor so no one could see in, but the morning light shone in. Comfortable beds. I am picky about cleanliness, there were a few things overlooked: dirt on the floor, stains on towels, but overall in good condition. Good value space for the price. Convenient location to get to the Cheney Place and worked well for our family wedding to gather. The River Rock restaurant is beautiful with a nice staggered set up and great stylish and comfortable furnature. The breakfast buffet, however, is comparable to any moderate "free" hot breakfast, but they charge $10 per person, plus you tip the waitresses who try to keep up on beverages. We had a large group - it would have been fairer to them to call ahead.
So far I ve found hair all over the room, there was blood in the elevator... it s midnight and people are running down the halls, kids loudly playing in the room next to us. Service was good but this blows.
The rooms are cool, no real problems with anything. Always room for improvement
Said 1.5 Mile,from city center had to get lyft or walk everywhere which is my fault not looking more into it. For price the bed feels like a teenager who still wets the bed and has a rubber sheet. Also asked for one extra coffee cup told me no room service so I had to ask so can I come down and get one...shouldn't you re-phrase that?! So say sorry we don't have room service but you are more than welcome to come downstairs and get one...Looks great, but not worth staying at again.
The worst experience I have had a a hotel. 1 took over 30 mins to check in... 2 the hotel was under construction, and they checked us into a room that wasn't complete. Spackle all over the floor dust everywhere. Floor wasn't vacuumed. The entire floor was under construction! We left and went somewhere else.
If you like pubic hair on your shower ceiling then this is the place for you. I made multiple complaints to the staff to no avail. When I made the final complaint, the staff waited they thought that I was out of ear shot and started making jokes...

I stayed here a day ago. There was long obvious strands of hair in the shower. I told front desk and they didnt even really acknowledge or seem concerned. There was no apology or anything. I totally get they are doing renovation however this had nothing to do with cleaning rooms! It's 100% bad training and lack of care by employees and or management.
The price was right for a clean, quiet room spacious and updated. I'd stay there again.
Had a few issues with the room that could only be atributted to improper preventative maintenance. However, room rates are reasonable, staff is very accommodating, location is very accessable, and rooms have recently been renovated.
Room was spacious with numerous accessible outlets and a king sized bed. The provided desk had suffered water damage in the past and had developed a wavy appearance but was still functional. Room and bathroom were well kept and room service was very accommodating. Hotel is located about 8-15min from downtown area with decent travel access.
I understand everything will be closed like the pool and kitchen everything but I had to plunge my toilet several times if I used it, I had to get a whole new remote with TV which even then the channel and the volume button on a remote didn't work, I had to fix the air conditioner cuz the filter was backwards cuz someone shoved it in, and since the toilet is backed up I was scared you'd use the shower without flooding or something so over all, but the management and the employees we're very respectful and help me.
Loved the room nice amount of space, bed was comfortable and the place is family friendly. Staff was attentive and helpful. The pool was larger than so many other places but had a drop off right at the rope and the sides of the pool were worn enough that it was very easy to slip. With small children who love to swim this made me stress far too much out of fear one of them would get hurt.
I have a room block here for my wedding so we went to check it out. We went to eat at the restaurant. Server was really nice. Food was average at average costs. It wasn't anything to write home about, including the Landing Salad and Landing Stew. Their fries were really good though. They had karaoke going in the bar in the next room that was kind of loud. The restaurant looks out over the river so that was nice.
Then we asked to look at rooms since our wedding guests could be staying there. The rooms are also pretty average. You can tell the hotel is older. Some rooms have sleep number beds. I do NOT think the quality of the room and hotel is worth the price tag. There are nicer hotels for less. I'm assuming it costs what it does because the hotel is on the river, but not all rooms have a view. Everything looked fairly clean. Overall a nice average hotel I would compare to the Ramada, that is over-priced. Conveniently located near our wedding venue though.
Our stay was terrible! When we first checked in to our room there was food left over in our fridge from previous guests. Was are room actually cleaned or not??Place is very dirty, staff very unfriendly. Waited over an 1 1/2 for the shuttle to pick us up that was scheduled. Dirty sheets and towels were left in the end of hallway our entire stay. Would not recommend this place!!
Chose this hotel for the views, when checking in, asked for a view. Was told that would be a $30. up charge!! Got put in a room overlooking a dirty roof, next to elevator which we heard all night long!!! Kind of sucked. Seriously in need of new tub! Chipped and peeling paint. Comfortable bed only good thing we could say.
Well it's got purple stuff everywhere. If Prince was still here. I think he would stay here. It's got a pool and spa. That's all I need.

Me and my husband were very disappointed of this hotel our key doesn't work and their hot tub is broken and overall we are not satisfied. Pls don't go or book in this hotel your just gonna be disappointed. We are very disappointed of the hotel Riverfront in Grand Rapids Michigan. this hotel ruin our Valentines day . But we love the food in Landing. Thats all. Were not coming back here anymore.
The lobby looks nice but that's the extent. Shower didn't drain, hair on bed and in bath. Bathroom door broken, desk was cracked, fuzzy tv reception, lamp would flash on and off at night so we had to unscrew the bulb. Broken dead bolt in room, dark hallways, filthy floors, stained towels and bedding. Definitely won't be using this hotel again
Great location unless you're a fitness enthusiast. Fitness Center it's a little bit to be desired and had to go to the Y to get a decent workout.

horrible.....beds were uncomfortable, hotel was run down..was accused of smoking in room...I am a non smoker.. they charged my card with out my knowledge. currently waiting for manager to contact me to answer my dispute.
Had a very nice stay at the GRH. The room was not ready at the time we checked in, but they gave us a free upgrade to a King bed! Room was clean and had enough space for our baby's pack and play. There is a big pool and a great outdoor hangout spot. They did not have a continental breakfast but there was coffee, so that's a plus. Would stay again!
Pros: friendly service, big pool and hot tub, convenient shuttle to downtown, patio has a nice sitting area, river rock restaurant is convenient.
Cons: small rooms and bathrooms hotel is a little dingy,nothing real close like gas station or food

Attended a reptile expo here. The hotel seemed nice, but the room they hosted the show in was small, and not very well lit. It was an easy to find, and get to, hotel though!
Rooms were alright however they over charged me for a room.
The highlight of this hotel is the pool and hottub. They even have a wheelchair lift at the pool. Very friendly and helpful staff. Downsides: medicore room, lacking wall hanging mirrors except in the bathroom, extremely hard bed (I like hard beds, this was like sleeping on a rock). Ran out of coca-cola.
needs a lot of upgrades. the bathroom had little black hairs all over it. beds were comfortable and the room was decent. charges extra to request a river view room

Its kind of expensive. Being on the river. But has beautiful views of Grand Rapids, MI. It's near by restaraunts and bars. People there are friendly. If you want to visit G. R. It's a good hotel to stay in.
