Ruined our wedding day. Do not waste your time with this Hotel. Despite a contractual agreement, they did not Deliver the services agreed between both parties.
I highly recommend Hellidon Lakes if you like to be sworn at by staff and expect nothing to be done.
The General Manager admitted they were to blame, but refused to partially refund the contractually agreed price. Instead offering a bar tab (which was a completely different requirement).

Great surroundings. Friendly and very helpful personal. The rooms are fine however most of the equipment shows it's marks to be used for qote long time.
Hotel rooms in original half of the hotel look tired and need modernising however phenomenal views over the course. Food is excellent regardless of having in the bar, the restaurant or catering for an event. The 2 golf courses are a lovely courses beautiful scenery. It is a very difficult for a beginner but great to play really challenges u. Be aware though the course is very undulating so it's a long way round and hiring a buggy is a good idea. Overall would definitely recommend this for a golf course and hotel
A beautiful Northamptonshire rolling countryside location to get away from it all and relax The Lakes golf course is always challenging but enjoyable and if you do not play well then you will still enjoy the fantastic scenery and exciting layout The hotel is well appointed with a wide range of facilities for non golfers including good dining and bars
Went for a spa weekend.. real disappointment. Will not return. So many issues too mention.. Main issues is with staff not really caring, about Hellidon Lakes and the whole experience they are supposed to provide. Up your game Hellidon Lakes....
There's no hiding that this is an event hotel, so expect conferences, team building, quarterly sales meetings, and the like to dominate proceedings during the week. That means the bar can get a tad noisy, but the rest of the hotel stays pretty quiet. The staff were excellent throughout, happy to help and go off-menu for most things (although they've no idea how to make a proper Old Fashioned cocktail!) while the room itself was perfectly acceptable. Uninteresting, but clean and reasonably spacious. That really covers the entire venue actually - it does the job it's meant to do, and does it quite well, but there's no air of exclusivity, no panache. It's just another professional hotel.
Yep was good, food was fantastic! Scenery was astounding. Could have done with out the inability to turn the heating off... In July. Room was far too hot. Great selection of herbal tea which was food and I got a complemtaty bacon sandwich when I missed breakfast due to a conference call. So we'll done
We went for a spa day. Treatments were nice but pool area very small. Nice and clean though. The hotel is lovely and set in beautiful grounds. ut wouldnt come again just for a spa. But would come again for the hotel.
Visited the spa, it wasn't worth the effort it took to drive to the location. The spa is outdated and tiny and overcrowded (you'd get more luxury at your local sports centre. It's a tiny pool that they've put a steam room on the end and called it a spa).
It was very old and not very clean, the whole place needed a good scrub and some thought and care put into it. Luckily, the towels were clean.
It's very poorly organised, we booked a slot (after multiple phone call attempts) and only after we booked a day's entry did they say they had no treatment slots available, so I then had to rebook for another day.
When we turned up they said that only one of us could be fit in for the treatment even though we had prebooked, because of a staff shortage. You'd think they would have called us in the morning and tell us ASAP so that we didn't have to drive into the middle of nowhere and then be told on arrival.
We used a voucher code site to gain access but regardless of this, I'm glad I wasn't paying full price because it's not worth the money it takes to enter the spa.
On a positive note, the staff were helpful and polite and really apologetic. They offered us treatments for another day but it's likely that we won't go because it's really difficult to get to, and really poor quality.
The key to a spa is relaxation and from the moment we arrived it was stressful.
Rooms: tired and dated decor but the beds are very comfortable.
Service: excellent. Polite, friendly and happy to help.
Food: hit and miss. When it was good it was delicious and some things were truly dreadful, retro prawn cocktail and mash potato you could re-plaster your house with being the two that spring to mind.
Great golf weekend nice location, excellent price inc. bar tariff. Courses well kept and challenging. Excellent facilities pool, spa, steam room. Very welcoming staff would definitely return and recommend.
Course was in nice condition even though it's been wet recently, greens are slopey and fast. Holes are interesting and certainly not an easy track. Hotel is exactly as described and perfectly suitable for a golfing break, value for money was excellent as price included breakfast and dinner
Good golf course and great value, book directly through the q hotels site. Hellidon course is the one to play as is the championship 18. Lots of up and down, interesting holes and good dog legs. Not the longest course but will make you think.
A bit out the way down country lanes but the views from the terrace across the golf course and lake is fantastic. Good facilities with a nice spa and ten pin bowling. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side with plenty of room to sit in the bar area. Room was quite warm however there was a fan provided in the room along with iron and ironing board. 24 hour room service (No hot food after 10pm). Attentive and friendly staff. Will be going again soon.
A bit tired and newly taken over. No longer a Q Hotel. Restaurant overpriced and underwhelming for evening meal. Breakfast good. Staff doing their best under the circumstances
Food is excellent and staff are very friendly. Lovely area with stunning views and a fantastic traditional golf clubhouse feel to it. Rooms are outdated slightly but maintained quite well.
Highly recommended... the accomodation was clean and of good quality. The golf course was challenging and hilly. The food was very tasty. The only critisism was the swimming pool was cold.
Arranged for 50 guests to stay and have a group meal with the events team. Very easy to work with on planning, great service and food on the night and some very positive feedback from the guests. Thanks for making it easy.
Room was very outdated, spa was rubbish! Tiny pool with 1 hot tub and 1 steam room. Not what I'd call a spa hotel. Treatments available from a separate company within the hotel but not rated. My luxury pedi was just a very bad toe nail painting. Golf course looked amazing though, definatly cater more for the golfers than the spa side.
I booked a spa day experience for my parents who are in their 60s and myself who is 8 months pregnant. I felt embarrassed that I had taken them there and for a few reasons. (Excluding spa therapists which I will come onto at the end). Disorganised. Unfriendly. Unattentive. Poor level of customer service from the spa staff member on arrival and again from the male duty manager when there was an issue with the lunch options (by fault of Hellidon). Outdated, broken and/or basic facilities. The only reason I have given 2 stars is for the wildly differing experience we all received in the treatment area. Personally, I had a massage therapist called Danielle who for me, completely turned around our awful experience. She was extremely professional, welcoming, warm, friendly, with faultless customer service skills and excellent massage skills. As well as the other massage therapist whom my parents had and were also extremely pleased with, only they made this day worth the money spent and 50 minute drive it took to get there.
Beautiful location and views from the rooms. Bar horrendously expensive, but as is expected from most hotels. Beds large and comfy but rooms could do with a little updating.
Tricky course, especially the greens, with beautiful high tee'd sweeping fairways and vistas. The towering18th hole over water is one not to be missed, literally.
Lovely golf course with some interesting holes, the 18th being quite intimidating. The grass on the greens was a tad long leading to them being quite slow.
Me and my wife had our wedding here, it was a lovely venue out in the middle of nowhere, very quiet with awesome views, has a restaurant, pool, spa, bowling, golf, bar, large amount of parking.
Staff all helpful and friedly. Rooms large and clean. Evening meal and breakfast fantastic. Seemed a little disorganised between the hotel check in and spa check in. Spa area could do with a face lift. Otherwise very nice stay.
Nice hotel and Golf resort. Ideal wedding venue on acres of land within Northamptonshire countryside. High class establishment with level of staff and customer service. Beautiful grounds, well cared for by professional landscapers.
The reason I picked this hotel was due to there being a swimming pool. After arriving at the hotel it initially seemed quite nice, the location is great with some lovely views. The hotel itself seemed a little dated in the common areas. Like it was from the 1990s and no one ever bothered to redecorate. The room itself was pretty big but not well maintained. There was mildew deeply embedded in the seal around the bath which looks very bad. Also the door hand had been replaced with a very cheap standard handle that did no cover the missed paint and screw holes of the previous handle. Nit only that but rather than fitting a bathroom handle with a built-in latch the added a simple bolt. The hole for the previous latch was now visible.
The biggest disappointment was the swimming area. The changing room was partially carpeted and looked like it had not been cleaned for a few weeks. On trying to find how to get to the swimming pool from the changing room I opened a door behind which there was just rubble and lots of live electrical cables. I have no idea why this was here but it was a complete mess inside. To get to the pool one has to back track into the corridor. After finding the pool we discover it's not heated. The water is freezing! Even dangling my legs in was uncomfortable. The pool was covered in a layer of dust and dirt. It looked like the filtering system was not working. Near the pool there was a door that was left open with the keys in saying dangerous chemicals. No members of staff were there it was just left open. Next to a foot shower there was an electrical blanking plate that had lots of little holes in it. If there were live cables there this is not safe at all. The jacuzzi was a struggle to get working, there were many told missing from inside and there was a rather unpleasant looking foam floating in top. Near the jacuzzi there was some other electrical junction box that was uncovered with all the wires showing. Around the whole pool area it is just neglected generally with plaster falling off the ceiling, exposed cables and pipes. The place is a mess. I could go and on.
We ended up eating in the restaurant, which was very expressive and done what spoiled by a table of rowdy men who were very drunk an shouting and swearing. This is not what you would expect in a hotel restaurant.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, avoid this place!
Went up to my room and counted 32 blue bottle size flies before I gave up. Flies on the bathroom floor, down by the bed, on every windowsill, on the bedroom floor, food crumbs on floor, bath not cleaned out, surfaces had drink stains, dust everywhere, carpets threadbare. Went down to the bar and had more flies in my room that I did bubbles in my pint. Good points were the food which was very nice. Nice strong shower but the seal round the door is broken so the bathroom floor ended up flooded. Bed was comfy but stains on the pillows so had to change them. Basic hygiene and cleaning not done at all. Some staff were friendly, some were indifferent. Would never return
Dated spa facilites. Dark needs updating. However staff great and very helpfull. Hotel from outside could do with a revamp aswell. Grounds however stunning with lakes waterfall and beautiful countryside views of Daventry. Golf course amazing.
Lovely staff - excellent facial BUT the place is dirty, shabby and cold. Water dripped off the ceiling poolside - so much chlorine in the pool I couldn't breathe, blood and hair under my poolside lounger. Ladies showers clogged with hair - More
Food and staff excellent but the whole hotel in a disappointing condition..needs money put back into it and a total fresh look especially the pool area ....
We used the bowling alley for a party. Machines didn't work and took a long time for staff to sort the issues, which was never fully resolved. However the children enjoyed playing and with no limits on the amount of bowling, due to the machines not working, it was actually more enjoyable as no winners or losers. No shoes available for children either.
