Awful! Access road closed long term 30 minutes diversion! Not told by hotel! Only booked as had a gym which was rigid no entry almost an hour before closure! Bar very busy only one serving long wait. Will not stay again very poor :(
Not as the website pictures show the pool and spa grotty the room was ok had mildew around the windows they changed the food prices midweek if it wasn't being paid for I wouldn't pay to stay here
A great nights sleep and a room with a view for a change very nice hotel Great grounds bar and food good but on the expensive side would make a great wedding venue!
Great location 4 lane bowling alley I the hotel!!! Very attentive staff, very good facilities as one would expect it is immaculately clean a d tidy.,9 hole golf course in the grounds
Beautiful location with pool, golf and ten pin bowling. Booked a superior room. A little disappointing generally. Customer service could have been better. On arrival left waiting in reception while on telephone which is understandable but would have appreciated some acknowledgement that would be with us in a minute rather than being hidden in the back and only acknowledging when finished. Helpful whilst checking in. Same thing happened when went to Restaurant on our first night. Kept waiting and only acknowledged again after waiting for a while. Food very average and had no burgers left. A couple of the towels in the bathroom were slightly stained. Room was very hot. Asked for door to room to be opened. This didn't happen and we received no message about why this had not happened. Decided to have room service the next night which was a mistake. Ordered food at 7.30 pm and by 9.00 pm nothing had arrived. We then cancelled the order. Overall definitely need to improve customer service.
Stayed here for some ME time and I had such a relaxing stay. Food was fantastic and the location with a golf course on site had great views. You could easily drive past it, so satnav is definitely important. Would definitely come here again because I left feeling very refreshed...
Very friendly staff, great massage and facial. Very poor nail bar experience. The gel ran onto my skin, thumbs had to be done twice and left very bumpy not smooth like normal gels. My friend also had hers done and they completely missed her thumb nails. After complaining she had her thumb nails done but I only got a partial refund despite not getting the full package stated also.
A much better set for over half the price in Staverton.
Beautiful setting, lovelly hotel. Spent the day at the spa with my wife and we had the most relaxing time. Staff were amazing. Very friendly and professional. Couldn't of been more helpful and pleasant...same can't be said of the treatment the bar staff had to put up with by some of the exceptionally rude clientele.
i had a facial in the spa and my therapist Jenna was fabulous. She was very professional and friendly and very helpful through out my experince. I would throughly recommend having a treatment as it was so relaxing and very enjoyable.
Nice venue for a conference. Good meeting room and facilities, and had an excellent lunch in the restaurant. Views over the golf course are impressive.
a lovely private and secure wedding venue with good carpark space and outdoor area . it doesn t feel like a golf place and there is no public interaction its nicely secluded .
While nothing was bad and the staff were helpful and polite the spa is tired and Jacuzzi was cold. The food was lacklustre, breakfast really poor waffles like bricks. Overall tired and management need to mystery shop their own place to see how things have sagged... has potential but needs investment and motivation at all levels...
One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, the staff are happy in there jobs and polite, the rooms are clean and comfortable with wonderful views. There is however one down side, if you are given a room that backs onto to the smoking area you will have to listen to drunk idiots all night long, if you think your having an early night ( after 10pm) your mistaken, the cancer garden is an on going hotel mistake and in this day and age a surprise people can smoke that close to open hotel rooms.
Great golf course, friendly staff, good food. Really enjoyed my stay here, however there was a dirty towel in the room which had something brown on it, so knocked a star off.
The room was nice bed very good and comfortable. We stayed for a a company Christmas party. The food wasn't brilliant my starter and desert I couldn't even eat. We were supposed to have wine on our tables but despite my request they said we were having none. Morning breakfast was very good, but I won't be staying again.
In a remote part of the Northamptonshire countryside, you will find Hellidon Lakes. Overall the stay was pleasant, the rooms are fit for purpose: they provide nearly everything you need, only missing a hairdryer. They could however do with modernising slightly as the decor get dated and in the corner of the room you could see the wallpaper peeling off. The shower was powerful and hot, the views were beautiful in the room we stayed in overlooking the golf course and lakes. The double bed was comfortable, but we found it to be two singles placed together, meaning there was a slight gap and lip in the centre. There was also plenty of mirrors with plug sockets nearby. The service we received overall was good, it progressed as the weekend went on and increased to excellent by the end of our stay. The food was superb in the restaurant, however there was some occasions where they ran out of food and failed to inform us after we had placed our order. The breakfast was very nice every morning without fail, poached eggs and black pudding were brought to the table by order; there was a bit buffet also allowing you to have a full English if you so desired. Lastly there was plenty of other options due breakfast throughout the cold buffet and even a pancake machine which made one pancake at a time fresh for you.
Nice views golf course in reasonable condition but suited more to those with a bit of mountain goat in them. Food excellent & rooms clean & well presented
We haven't been here long but we are not impressed.
Here is me laying on the bed, in my underwear waiting to go to a wedding reception, and another customer walks in. He had been given our room number and key! In all the years of staying in hundreds of rooms this has never happened. Sorry Hellidon but you deserve two stars just for that!
Nice hotel in a beautiful location. The room was large, very large, but the hotel is looking a bit tired, hence the current renovations. As for the pool and sauna area... it should be knocked down and rebuilt. It's skanky and probably a health hazard. Avoid at all costs!
I was treated to half a day using the spa/gym facilities for my birthday along with coffee & a pastry in the lounge. The setting and scenery are excellent, as are the facilities and staff. The only thing stopping this being a 5 star in my More
I purchased a spa package from Groupon for my husband and I. I'd read mixed reviews so was slightly worried, however I needn't have been! Ok, so the gym equipment was in need of a good clean, but it all worked perfectly fine. The pool was a nice temp and although it was busy we had plenty of time for a swim and it wasn't too crowded. Same with the jacuzzi and steam room. We had lunch in the lounge bar and it was extremely tasty. We also booked a 30 minute massage each. They were excellent and we were able to go in the same treatment room, which was a really nice touch. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. For our first spa experience I couldn't fault it.
Booked a family room for the weekend due my parents 50th wedding anniversary taking place in the hotel.
After the check in process (which was very smooth), I headed off to the family room which I had requested. Overall the room itself was very tatty. The carpet had lots of marks on it and there were cobwebs and a spider in the corner of the room. I also had 2 double beds setup rather than 1 double and 2 singles.
I headed to the restaurant and ordered the Prawn Linguine which sounded nice but when it arrived it was literally 5 prawns sat upon a plate of cooked pasta. There seemed to be no sauce, or any taste whatsoever associated to the meal. This experience was repeated the following day when I was serviced a blade of beef with fondant potatoes completely void of taste. On this occasion I also had to send the children s burger meals back as the meat tasted rancid. This was verified by my two cousins I was sat with who were both chefs.
After the first night s sleep the light in my bathroom stopped working and as they were unable to rectify the problem I was given a new family room. This time it was an executive room on the other side of the hotel and can safely say the two rooms were like chalk and cheese. This family room was very spacious, clean and modern I wish I d stayed here for both nights.
Overall, I found the hotel and hotel rooms very tired looking it is well in need of modernisation and the food was substandard at best.
Spa day. Dirty toilets and mould in foot bath . Pool, sauna and jacuzzi shut all morning as staff not turned up. No spa receptionist for the same reason Corridor to pool chilly and shabby. Staff friendly and approachable. We waited 90mins then left and went elsewhere.
No cask ales available... Why? Surly a place like this charging high prices for everything could have a real ale on one of the bars. Great menu but only fizz lager etc at the bar.
Amazing hotel we spent our first anniversary here and the staff and suite we had have been impeccable. The food is also very good and the bar has a wide selection of alcoholic drinks. There is an onsite Gym and Swimming pool with Jacuzzi and sauna also a spa, also a 4 lane bowling alley and a picturesque 18 hole golf course. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to get away and relax. 5 stars from me !!
Good for golf and bowling, but not so good for disabled people. "Accessible" rooms oddly do not have a low-level "spy-hole" for wheelchair users. Also there are no "walk-in" showers. Having said that it has been updated in the More
Dinner was excellent, well prepared, delivered and executed. Breakfast was also of a good standard. The decor however is dated an in great need of brining into the 21st Century. Lighting and Ambiance in the bar areas could improved by lowering the light levels and having a little background music. Refresh the bedrooms (pine furniture belongs in the 80s) refresh s the decoration, and this could be an excellent venue. The bowing alley is a great touch. Overall enjoyed the stay.
