Lunch or dinner at Procope is not only about eating, it's also setting foot in history. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you know that you are entering an institution. If you can, do not hesitate to walk around and get lost in each of the lounges and discover the office of Voltaire, Napoleon's cocked hat, ... On the kitchen side, a nice menu where traditional dishes of French cuisine rub shoulders (blanquette, beef cheek, ...) And more modern dishes. Impeccable service. A real pleasure.

Tasty, with an easy claim place, however, like all French) the oldest cafe in Paris, I advise you to visit without forgetting to pre-book the table, the web site is not difficult to find by entering the name in the search bar. Enjoy) oh, yeah ... pay attention to the trifles in the interior, very cute and exciting

I was hoping to have an authentic experience at the place marketed as the oldest cafe in the world. However they only serve espresso coffee drinks. The espresso machine was invented in the 1900s... Would have loved a coffee the way they made it in the 1600s. The rest of the building kinda of interesting to walk though thought.

I mean, it's really old, and that's cool, but the food is way too expensive for not being of the best quality in my opinion. I say step in the front door, look at Napolean's hat, and then keep it moving.

Was just okay. Historical place love by artists and politicians. Their Michelin-chef made fish was toooo salty and fishy, and artichoke risotto was a little bit watery. While duck was good. Really.

Came across this restaurant during a bike tour. Check out the second floor if you're a history buff. Recommend the hot chocolate, the whipped cream was to die for. Beat the rush by going in the morning.

Historic site and superb setting. Typical and traditional French cuisine. The service and the welcome are professional and friendly. Favorable portions from start to finish. Tested out of season. The proposed menu has a limited choice. It is therefore necessary to take the map that feels on the addition.

Historical monument certainly, home, carpet, bar a little tired all the same. Probably plays sold out every night which explains a lot of things, but does not excuse everything.
Correct cuisine without more. Remains probably a mythical place for tourists.

The wait was horrendous. We went on a Saturday night at 7, we didn t have a reservation. We were walking around and remembered we saw it once and we couldn t find something else. They took us but on a wait. We waited about an hour before we were seated and the waiter was far too busy to take our order. The only saving grace was the ability to order wine before being seated.

As for the food; I ordered the 100 day chicken and my partner ordered the risotto, we were very happy with it. It was a cold night and the chicken was just the right of level of warm comfort food for a cold November night.my only gripe was the rice wasn t fully cooked. I had about 3 bites that were crunchy.

The price of the house wine was very reasonable. We didn t order starters and a dessert, but we had two mini carafes, and the plats, and only spent 55 . We ate on the cheaper end because plats here average between 30-40 .

We didn t get a chance to look around so I can t speak to the history, but the food was just right for the night.

I was thinking of celebrating a nice family birthday and despite a reservation specifying a quiet table I found myself "parked" in a hallway, served by feverish staff, with an excessively long space between the dishes due to the presence of "groups" monopolizing the living rooms, the staff and the kitchens .. This historic place has been transformed into a "restoroute" ... It has actually become a tourist trap or the courtesy is even more respected "you understand, we received group bookings so we have to put you there .... "Unacceptable, ashamed by the past of the establishment and the quality to which it claims, unfortunately in vain.

Really recommended!.

Really recommended!.
I don't know if it's famous, I feel good, so Mom. It was a restaurant I went in with my younger brother.
Even in Saint-Germain street, it has a wonderful appearance. ^^
It was an early time to eat dinner, but we entered a little over 7:00, but there were very few guests.
The menu version is officially in each country version. Of course, the Korean menu version was also properly translated.
Escargot. Grilled sea bream. Cuckoo. beer. wine
It was delicious and excellent without exception.
Also, the people who work are very friendly and good manners. Highly recommended.

Place with a lot of history, with lousy service and food well below expectations:

We visited the restaurant since they told us that it was working since 1686 and it was a must for all the history related to this place.

However, our experience during the visit was terrible.

Starting with the host who received us unfriendly, he seemed to be in a bad mood. I did not take it personally, I just told myself that the evening would not harm us.

Since I had to wait for about 20 min, since there were no unoccupied tables, we went to a waiting room, in which no one attended to you, so I personally went to the bar to order two glasses of wine. When they went to look for us to go to the table, they told us in a bad way that we would grab our glasses and take them ourselves, when it is usual for the host or waiter to offer to take them.

Once at the table, they handed us the letter in the wrong language. We ask that you change them. Having done this, we chose our entrances and our dishes, we called the innkeeper and asked for one of the dishes, which in theory were recipes that had won a Michellin star and a cut of Steak, which we asked that we wanted him to a 3/4 term , to which he responded in a bad way that was not possible. He told us: "I finish half or cooked, choose."

In summary, the tickets, snails, took 40 minutes to arrive, and the second dishes another 20 minutes. My wife was served an incomplete dish, the garnish was missing, which I had to remind the innkeeper to be incomplete. Once it arrived, it was dry by the heat lamp.

The food in general was quite regular. You can eat much better and at less than half the price at any tourist location.

Total that damaged our night. We didn't want to wait for desserts, we already had enough. We left the room a little sad.

It is unfortunate that this place is so badly managed. If I continue like this, I don't think it will last many more years

A historic place to eat at least once in your life amidst the libraries that have hosted great thinkers and writers. It is the oldest restaurant in Paris. The food is good but the value for money is quite low. Indeed it is expensive but it is an experience to live.

Historic place that loses its soul and charm, sold to the mass tourism without food culture, they are no longer seafood trays and seafood.I strongly recommend that researchers quality and know how to live in the French.

Over all, the food tasted mediocre.....to us, who come from a city with a great food scene. We picked two plates from a 'traditional' section on the menu, but both of our dishes were simple cream stew, didn't taste professional at all. One glass of wine, a bottle of sparkling water, one appetizer, two plates, and one dessert came out to be 94 euro. Staff was friendly and working hard (thus three star), but we did not feel like it was worth the money.

A historic setting but not outdated, efficient service without being burdensome. The cuisine is of French tradition, of good quality. There are unfortunately forgotten dishes - and not "trendy" - such as calf's head, More

I visited Le Procope with my mother, aunt, and cousin to celebrate our Thanksgiving dinner during our stay here in Paris. It was directly beside our hotel and we had heard good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, our overall experience dining at the restaurant was not a pleasant one. The wait staff was a bit curt and snooty maybe because we mainly spoke English along with our best efforts in elementary French....? They also seemed to be in a bad mood as well as understaffed.

For appetizers we ordered the Escargot, we waited about 20 - 25 minutes before I overheard our waiter speaking to another waiter. From what I gathered they were motioning back and forth at our table while checking a list of orders on a computer. They had forgotten our order...... Once they realized they had forgotten us the Escargot took about another 10-15 minutes.
When it came to the entrees it was basically the same story. I ordered the scallops from the waiter, and he repeated my order to me to confirm it (so I m sure he heard me) However, everyone at the table received their food except for me who quite literally had an empty plate placed in front of me. I assumed they were busy and perhaps my plate took longer to prepare, so I tried to be patient but my food never came. By the time I thought to ask about it my party was already basically done with their meal, the wait staff were very distant and hard to get a hold of, and I really just wanted to leave at that point. In addition, after reading some of the other reviews about the seafood and shellfish I can t help but wonder if it was a blessing in disguise my meal never came......

The food I did get to try (the escargot and what I scavenged from my cousins plate) were actually quite good. *snaps to the chef* . I understand that the restaurant was busy and I understand not to expect the same dining experience you would in the U.S. but the overall experience was made uncomfortable and disappointing by the wait staff.

Side Note: if you re interested in Seafood check out the Homer Lobster restaurant next door. They are quick, affordable, and very delicious!

A historic place unfortunately not at the level!

A historic place unfortunately not at the level!
Even though the card is attractive its implementation is disappointing, despite the potential.
-7 people on a table of 6 despite booking several weeks in advance
-White wine served hot: it does not matter the waitress brings you ice cubes to put in your wine
-Risotto served cold: pity it was good
-Serveuse on the brink of nerve crisis not level
-Absence of synchronization in the arrival of desserts
I had a better memory of the Procope but I'm afraid he is in the trap of tourists attracted by an image of Epinal.

It's very friendly, and the appetizer was wrapped in bread, and I didn't like that feeling, but it was okay without being empty. And the steak is steak and the meat is a bit tough but the potatoes are really delicious. I ate it. Dessert I ate strawberry sherbet by the side. Food taste was average and not special. But the second floor is very nice and the atmosphere is nice. I think it's good to go.

Of course, depending on the day, the cooking conditions will be a little different, but for those who are too familiar with the sauce, it's hard to know the true taste of cobb gin. I usually enjoyed eating chicken well.

A must if you come to Paris as this is the oldest restaurant here. However, the only thing to die for on the menu is the coq au vin. The setting is nice, big rooms for large parties which is not very common in Paris but keep in mind, it does get quite noisy at rush hour.
