The young lady I had in Poughkeepsie showed no interest or concerns at all. It s like she had a bad night and didn t wanna be bothered. I was very disappointed, cause the people I spoke to from the 800 # was from Alabama they were very helpful and friendly.

Just had an agent hang up on me. I was being polite, but my problem I guess sounded to complex for her or she just did not want to be bothered with something that might require some effort on her part.

On Google search it says "phone only". No mail? Trying to find a W4V form is impossible on your site. I found it through a google search. On you site I was redirected to an online Auto Sign online signature site called Sign Now. I hope I wasnt scammed. They asked for my SS #. I gave it to them ,then they asked for my Email and other info. the final click pay $9.99 a month- scammer.

Just the worst customer service imaginable. Called to ask a question and was given completely false information. After pressing the woman for more accurate information, she huffed and hung up on me. I immediately called back and I don't know if it was a coincidence or they have caller ID, but someone picked up and immediately hung up again before I could even speak. The next woman to help me was very nice and provided me the correct information but couldn't get me on touch with a supervisor. I am waiting on a call back. I won't hold my breath

Pleasant customer service representative after reading reviews I was a bit skeptical going in. We were in and out in 15 minutes and our paperwork was processed in a timely fashion. It does help to have done my homework before hand and had as much paperwork and proper credentials as I thought I might need.

Absolutely useless and disorganized. If you ask them questions, all they say is "I don't know". I sent them a name change application and my documents and they lost my application. It's ridiculous that a government organization doesn't have their sht together.

Have been met with nothing but incompetence EACH and EVERY time I've gone to this office !!!!!! When I called this afternoon to inquire about the status of my representative payee application, I was told NOTHING HAD BEEN FILED !!!!! in spite of having a WRITTEN AND TAPED interview/application !!!!!! , and not to mention that this is my FIFTH (5th) trip to this office !!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE !!!! WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THIS OFFICE, WHO IS THE MANAGER????? PLEASE REPLACE THEM with someone who will oversee the representatives and ensure that they are doing their jobs. This would absolutely NOT be tolerated in the White Plains or NYC offices. If I could give them a MINUS 5 stars I would.

The people who answer the phones are so unbelievably rude for no reason, I was as nice as I possibly could be as we really needed a status update on a name change, but she was still nasty and condescending and hung up the phone before I could finish, how do these people get these government jobs I must be missing something! Awful experience. It's not hard to be friendly!!

Voice recording said 45 minute hold time, it was actually 58. At first the person answering phone was nasty, but then softened as we talked. I attribute it to work pressure. Was unable to answer my question about papers I submitted by mail 2 wks ago, as papers had not been scanned into computer system yet. Now I have to call back in another 2-3 wks to see if papers are even in the system. Once in the system, will take at least 60-90 days to process for Medicare Part B. Ugh!!! That's our taxpayer's money at work....

The man who answers the phone here is extremely unprofessional and RUDE. Never in my 30 years have I been spoken to that way with regard to the status of my child. I need her SS card for heath insurance, as she was born over a year ago and they ve yet to send it. He refuses to give his name and I have reported him SSA s HR department. Find another office if you can because he is useless and will not help you. It s been MONTHS.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. Don't go there if you need to process a new card and came in on a K1 visa they have no idea what they doing. I called on the phone many times regarding my husband's application. some say they can not speak with me (the wife) and others give out information freely smh. They have not a care about hanging up on you after you spend long wait times on hold.

I agree with Josh P. Called & I'm always nice. Yet the girl(that's what I'll call her) since she was so very rude for No Reason! She was so rude, that I didn't even get a chance to get her name before she hung up on me, & never said it when she answered. I'm wondering myself how she has a job there, of all places. You know how bad we disabled persons would Love to be able to work,(well I would) & they have one, but sound so miserable. No reason to be so RUDE, especially knowing u deal with the disabled community. I wish I had gotten her name, because she was so rude, that I would take the time to repeat her rude self.....OMG!

My experience with the Poughkeepsie office was completely unexpected. I am not a fan of government offices, but this Social Security Office was incredible. First of all, the parking was easy to find. Then, I walked in to a clean and half-empty office. The sign-in process was quick and easy and the security guard, Mr. Willy Cancel, was a doll. Friendly, helpful, funny, and kind. My wait was maybe 10 minutes before my number was called. I met with a man named Mr. Rodriguez who was friendly, efficient, and so easy to work with. He took the time to answer all of my questions and process my request. He was kind, polite, and thorough. All totaled, I was in and out in 20 minutes. It was an incredible experience.

So for 90 days I have been trying to deal with something that was time sensitive with my medicare account. No resolution. I sent in a form to the Poughkeepsie office that they sent me to try and resolve this problem. Honestly, since I have been dealing with this medicare issue for so long, I thought nothing would be done. Well I followed up sending the form with a phone call an got a representative named Ms. Stackhouse. At first I thought oh no, she sounds mean, she was not she was just very to the point! LOL Ms. Stackhouse said she would call me back in the afternoon, and she Did. She received my form and updated my SS account. You rock Ms. Stackhouse. She even calmed me down. She is very good employee of SS and should be commended. She really is awesome. Thank you so much for resolving my problem. So many times only negative reviews are written. I felt she went above and beyond.

They need to hire people that can do their job properly. Whoever received my phonecall was rude, instead of being nasty like her i kept my composure. Completely unprofessional, she was not listening and cut me off numerous times. Her voice so ignorant, are there no rules and regulations for your employees? Seriously your administration has way better to offer.

Probably some of the worst customer service I have...

Probably some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Due to Covid, everything has been changed to mail in business. I ve been waiting 6 months for my new social security card trying to get my name changed, and have received absolutely nothing in the mail. When I called, they just told me to keep calling back. Eventually, they said they had lost my application or it was still sitting in the mail room, and I should send in another one with my marriage certificate a second time. Here I am waiting a second time, I call to check the status of the card, and I speak with one of the rudest men I have ever spoken to. He offers no help at all, tells me to call back in two weeks, and hangs up on me. I try calling back two weeks later and no one picks up the phone. Just left on hold forever. My friend used the Danbury office and had her new card back in 7 days. Well mine is going on 7 months and no one in this office seems competent enough to provide service to the public. I m very disappointed and frustrated. Covid has changed things for sure, but somebody isn t doing there job here. It s plain to see.

Extremely rude woman on the "General Inquiries" phone line. She hung up on me when I asked her name. I called back, still trying to find out information. She was as rude and nasty as before, and when I asked her name again, she hung up on me again. Don't hire trolls - there are many nice people out there who are also deserving of jobs.

I've been to the office several times and spoken on the telephone numerous times, and have not had any serious difficulties to speak of. But the rules, regulations, and changes can be frustrating. I have not encountered what I would call rudeness, but sometimes curtness. I have encountered very pleasant workers as well. My guess is when people don't have a complaint, they don't usually leave a complement. However, I do sympathize with the people whose experiences were less than stellar! My "good review" doesn't mean theirs were not true for them.
More recently I changed my retirement from my husband's to mine...and a mistake was made by the processing center they said, and my Medicare coverage disappeared. I'm in the process of getting it corrected, but so far (two months later) it's still not back yet. Going to call again soon.

They don t care about people. I have been calling them for over 6 month now about my daughter Social security. She was born in May 2020. She still doesn t have a social security. I reapply but nothing. You can t get to talk to anybody in there. They keep hanging up on you. It is so sad that workers have such attitude.

Adequate seating; a pre-registration kiosk that is easy to use; clean, uncluttered waiting area; security present; and less than a one-hour period from walk-in to walk-out - what more can one ask for from a government office?

Terrible. I called to ask some questions about a replacement SS card and the man was so rude. He told me to "fix my attitude" and stop speaking over him. When I explained that my phone was on a delay (I hear the person a couple seconds after they start speaking) and apologized for unintentionally speaking over him, he put me on hold and then hung up. The entire time he spoke with a condescending tone and made me feel like an idiot because I didn't understand everything he said. I was a victim of domestic violence and just needed help picking up some of the pieces of what recently fell apart. Now I'm out of an SS card and practically in tears. I only wish I could report the specific man to his supervisor.

I ve been trying to change my name since July. I didn t want to send my drivers license in the mail, and the representatives there were beyond useless when I asked if there was an alternative. I asked for a supervisor, and no one called me back. Finally I decided to bite the bullet and mail in my license, and I just called to verify that my information was received, and this woman rudely told me you know we are shut down, you need to wait 60 days and if your documents are returned then you can call back.
I recommend using another office if you have to deal with social security. Don t bother with Poughkeepsie, the reps are rude, they are not consistent in information providing. And they will not call you back if you ask.
This has been the hardest thing to get done. I just want to change my name.

By far the worst customer service on the phone. The women who answered did not give me her name, she was short with me and didn t listen to anything I was saying, just basically that they won t do anything the day of and it will be 2 weeks before I hear anything... regardless of the severity of my circumstance. Before I could get a word in she hung up on me. So appalled by the service.
