Portillos Rockford, ILL Review

Top 3 priority menu items to try: Italian Beef, Italian Beef, Italian Beef. I stole that from a gentleman that works there, and he's absolutely correct. I don't know what the drippings sauce that leaks out of it is, but it's unbelievably good. If you're from a far away land like I am and haven't tried anything like chicago/italian beef before, you'll want to try this one. I stop here every time I pass by the area, even if I just ate an hour ago, it's just that good.

I went through the drive thru to get my son a chocolate cake shake (highly recommended!) Of course it was a madhouse being during the lunch rush, but it was worth it. And the aromas coming out of the window? Heavenly! Our next lunch out will definitely be here!

Great place for Chicago beef and hit dogs. Been to this location a couple of times and both times it was difficult to find a table for 2 people to sit at. Overall the food is great just wish they had more seating.

Had my favorite Chopped Salad. So good!! Huge portion. You can eat and eat and the bowl is still full!!

That Rockford IL Portillo's restaurant location has been expediting tasty food orders of mine to me in a fairly fast way for a couple or so years, now,and I always look forward to buying the Dipped Italian Beef sandwiches from there! I've enjoyed Portillo's Summer lemon cakes and Chocolate as well, the strawberry salad is very good,too.

The food was really good. But prepare for a bit of wait depending on what time of day you go.

Great food and even better desserts! Service with a smile a long with the true meaning of fast food. We were there at lunch time and from order time to getting our food was 5 mins. They were quite busy for a Monday.

Good fast food options. Their salads used to be my favorites but the recent menu change has not been a positive one for me. Great Italian beef and Maxwell polish sandwich. Chocolate cake is a rich treat. This past month more often than not orders I place in the drive through are incorrect. I ordered Italian beef with mozzarella and got no mozzarella. Same with sweet peppers. When you up charge me for the cheese and peppers I expect them to be on the sandwich. Something is wrong with the system. I also order salad with no bread and butter is still put in the bag. What for? Disappointed in order accuracy of late.

I love Portillos. The service was fast and kept the long line moving. My food was done correctly and quickly- tuna sandwich and fries. The cake shake is not to be missed. It tastes familiar and good!

They were so Delicious , I love the celery salt, it made the taste even better.

Typical American food. Nothing really stands out thats over the top. The staff is really friendly thought.

Be prepared for long lines during normal Rush Hour meal times. Always check your items before you leave the window. Unfortunately every time I have gone to this location something was missing or wrong on the order. Always check before pulling away

Chicago dogs with all the fixings are delish! Portillo's Italian beef (get both sweet and hot peppers) is mildly flavored but still great. They have a system that defies explanation but everything is made to order and comes out fast and correct.

The food was good the fries were the best but I quess what I wanted the most os there to be more flavor in the bacon burger and that the cheese fries would come with cheese on them and not on the side.

Parking lot sucks but food is good and the environment is old school. Some workers need to re evaluate their attitude and or job title. Grouchy and customer service in a fast pace job is no good.

Food at Portillos is always a favorite for us. But last evening my husband and I were so impressed by the employees Carolyn and Michael. They clear tables and assure cleanliness of the restaurant in such a gracious caring manner with smiles and enthusiasm. Their commitment to performing their responsibilities and serving their customers with excellence was obvious. Thank you, Carolyn and Michael! You blessed us. Keep up the great work!

Best food around!! It doesn't matter if your in the mood for a Chicago Style Hot Dog, Italian Beef, or a Char-Broiled Cheeseburger you'll always be happy with your choice. Best fries around and even more interesting with their cheese sauce.

I've been going to portillos since I was a kid living in the suburbs of Chicago. They always have fast service and very well kept restaurants. The chocolate cake and cake shakes are amazing! I love that portillos gives you the option to get your italian beef "wet", unlike other local restaurants.

Italian beef is sliced thin and is perfect-not tough. Love the drive thru, is fast!

It seems every time I come here they screw things up. Last time it was the pasta that I specified marinara sauce and they put meat on it. This time it was the chopped salad with no chicken, no bacon, and no onions and when I went to pick it up I could see the chicken. It was right on the order slip both times but the people making it pay no attention so then I have to wait again. My son fries were only warm and tasted stale. They are paid premium wages thus we pay premium prices and they still screw things up.

Super fast service and great burgers. You can't go wrong here. Portcullis's is now serving pasta in addition to their burgers, hotdogs and Italian beef.

The food, once we got it and got it home, was great. The wait for it was nearly half an hour and it was a phone in order from the day before. If we hadn't shown up early, we'd have been late for the Birthday Party the food was for.

This was the first Potillo's I've been to outside of the Chicagoland area. Despite being pretty busy, the service was as good as always, and the atmosphere was nearly identical to other locations. The big beef sandwich I had was a little on the dry side compared to the Chicago locations, but the flavor was good. The outside building is a little plain looking compared to some of the more stylish locations in the suburbs of Chicago, but it's still easily identifiable. Overall, Portillo's is consistently good and a real treat no matter which one you go to. My favorite is the big beef with sweet peppers! Now can we please get one in the Quad Cities already!

Very disappointed in todays trip. Our office always goes and gets the same thing and today was not worth spending a dime on.

Always good - nice staff, very helpful. Nice apple walnut chicken salad, which I would not expect. Drive thru not up to their typical standards - order has been incorrect 2 times - so now I go in - but that requires extra time that I don't always have.

They use to have greatfood, now they are changing the levels of meat as it was sold. Not my top hot dog, beef, sausage place. Service suffers also.

Been to Portillios once before. Great food. However my Office is right next door, and when I called to place an order, I told the woman that I'm a security enforcement officer and cant leave my post, I asked if they could deliver? The require a $15 minimum order price before the delivery charge of $1.99. And asked if I would give a $3.00 tip. I canceled my order. $20 for a sandwich, order of onion rings, taxes, delivery fee, tip fee. What else can I pay you for?! Customer service is disgraceful.
I would not recommend anyone to order delivery from them since they refuse to deliver under $15 order, less than the length of a football field away. They have lost my respect and my family's as well.

This was Today, Friday, April 28, for lunch.
We love Portillo's. Hard to get any thing but a beef. We ordered 4 beefs: one was a big beef cut n half, juice on the side; one was a reg beef cut in half, juice on the side; one was a reg beef cut in half with sweet peppers; and one was a beef, juice on the side, not cut.
All sandwiches were CUT!
We got NO juice on the side!
ALL four sandwiches had been SUBMERGED! and were Soggy! AND Dripping! What a mess!
Why?
Our bill was $49.80.
BIG disappointment!
They were Not that busy. We wanted to taste that delicious, expensive bread with the beef. Staff is too lazy? (Staff on the floor for table cleaning are not friendly or happy.)
Order was taken correctly, but not filled as requested.
Four of us met there, each having driven at least 65 to 90 minutes just for Portillo's Beef. Why doesn't the crew understand their jobs? Know their purpose?
Where was the manager? Is there one?

Portillo's has really good tasting food. I have their Italian beef for the first time today and it was wonderful. Both are burgers and hotdogs are also really good. I would always recommend this place. The quality is consistent, and the staff is efficient and very friendly. I only have positive comments to share.
