I went to Chicago in 2015 and had a Italian beef dip sandwich from portillos and I have been dreaming about it ever since! I went back to Chicago 2 weeks and had the pleasure of visiting portillos again, still so good!
Didn't seal my cheese containers all over my food and cat.
I ate at Portillo's, Rockford with my husband today and the food was delicious. The staff treated us with tender loving care. The lady who was the host at the door was so kind to us & treated us with a complimentary piece of chocolate cake. We felt very special! The staff said hello to us as we saw them in various places. That's the kind of treatment that will bring us back. We are not from Rocford, but it will bring us back. Thank you, Portillo's.
Good food. I get the beef sandwich at the Rockford location but recommend Tom and Jerrys which is right over by St Anthony's Hospital. Those beefs are excellent.
For my first time ever at Portillo's I thought 9:30 on a Monday night the drive thru would be fast. SLOW food, not fast. They said it was because they had to make fresh fries.
Four employees standing around at the pay window and others joking around at the pickup window. Looked like they were not paying any artention to customers. I only ordered a chicken croissant sandwich and fries. It was not a croissant, just a bun.
Doubt I will go back any time soon.
10Nov19. I ordered the hotdog, fries, and chocolate cake milkshake. The hotdog was loaded with peppers, onions, and other toppings. Pickle and peppers had a fresh snap as I bit into them. The bun was soft and held up well. The chocolate cake milkshake was surprisingly tasty.
The Italian beefs we're okay but they forgot the aujus (gravy) for the second time in a row.
My husbands Italian beef sandwich was very skimpy with the beef. I had a good breaded chicken club sandwich with bacon. We have been to lots of Portillos for years and this was my husband's worse experience. I would still recommend Portillos for lunch or dinner.
You can never go wrong with portillo's every thing is always good alittle pricier but worth it.
Usually fast service but the last time I was there I had to wait a little longer. The food is usually delicious except the last time I was there the fries tasted like the deep fryer oil needed to be changed or maybe they used a different frying oil.
Fun place for after game celebration while our daughter was competing in a national girls baseball tournament. Very lively and inexpensive for the quantity/quality.

It is a drive through fast food but they have the best hamburger I have ever ate not dried out fat juicy hamburger just the way you want it I have yet to be by there that there is not a line around the building very good food and hot when you get it

I've been going to Portillo's for over 25 years, so I was really excited to finally have one come to Rockford. Best fast burgers around, really good salads, and great Italian beef. I'll pass on the artificial blue-green pickle relish on the hot dogs though. (Come on. Like a 'real' Chicago dog must have fake blue color added? Whatever. Ridiculous.) I wish the Rockford location was big enough to have a Barnelli's Pasta Bowl, but at least I see now they've added a couple pasta options. Beer has arrived now too. Nice location for the restaurant, but not a very good lot. Leaves much to be desired for an outdoor dining area, as the drive through basically surrounds 4 sides of the building, whereas the Dekalb one, for example, has much more room for outdoor dining, and the Crystal Lake location has the full pasta menu as well. Both those locations are slightly nicer than Rockford, but like I said, I'm happy just to have one in Rockford now.

There are not many things in life that I enjoy more than eating a juicy combo with sweet peppers and a cheese fry from Portillo's.

Always excellent food. Get the Italian beef or ribs. Parking lot at the Rockford location could be designed better but it doesn't take away from the experience. Kept clean as always. Nice outdoor eating area.
As always, Portillos did not disappoint. My only complaint is how salty their fries are. I have loved Portillos for years. When I moved from the suburbs to Rockford, it was the only thing I missed.
Portillos is an exquisite restaurant and has amazing food and service. I love to go there with family and friends. And whenever I do I get treated like family. The enviroment is always inviting and makes you feel like your back in the 50's and 60's. Which I think is pretty cool.

I've been in Rockford on business for a couple of weeks, and have gone here 3 times. I highly recommend going inside to eat. The drive thru always has a line of cars, because the place is so popular. But the inside is very unique, full of just random old signs and artifacts mostly from the 50's and 60's, many with a Chicago connection. Just a nice place to sit and relax and enjoy one of their good dogs or other sandwiches. The atmosphere is very laid back and it's easy to feel like you are really back in a simpler time. Just sitting and watching the kitchen staff work is a treat in itself. And don't forget the chocolate cake!
Service sucked waited 15min for food order beef and lg fry
The food is always good and service is alright. Had a problem this specific visit with my online order . Paid for it online, got charged for it and when I went to pick it up- they couldn't find it. Manager made my order and got me out quickly. Other than that my food was hot and delicious ! Thanks for great service

I like it here the parking lot is always crowded but if you go inside it's usually not jam-packed they usually are very quick you don't wait extremely long for your food even when there are others waiting ahead of you my special choice is the Italian beef dipped in gravy
Always good. Had some issues with getting the order correct. Italian beef sandwich with mozz. They charged and have me beef with extra bacon. When I told them, they fixed it but no adjustment for the extra charges. It was a couple dollars too. That's a lot for a sandwich.
