Worst hospital experience ever, I wouldn t take my dog there. Took almost two hours after getting in a room for anyone to even come in. Was there almost 10 hours only to be sent home with no medical help and told to follow up with my family doctor in three days

The Emergency Department phone line was unacceptable. We would not be put through, we were hung up on multiple times, and when I finally got through for my Grandmother I was met with out right rudeness and disrespect and was once again hung up on. Fix your lousy service. Don't come here.
Got admitted to be monitored for pre term labor. Went in very nervous and scared. The nurses I had did an amazing job at making sure I was comfortable. They all made sure I knew what was going on and answered any questions I had.
Worst hospital ever. I went in for appendicitis and they did an ultrasound on my gallbladder. Then later on I had to have an MRI where they then screwed the payments up. Applying one payment to another account, which would have made a positive balance. No one can answer my question or get to the bottom of the issue. So, annoyed.
I have tested positive for COVID-19, I have underlining health issues, congestive heart failure and heart disease...I ve had 5 heart attacks and six stents placed....been running fever, chills, diarrhea, shortness of breath, chest pain, yet sent home, because I have no insurance???? Even though my doctor from infinity health care and the hospital administration nurse Daniel said I would be admitted and monitored due to my underlying health issues which makes me in the higher risk of death due to COVID-19, yet the night shift is releasing me, now I know why they call this piedmont malpractice center, not medical center.
This is the most inaccurate ,lying, slow moving hospital! I ve been here since 12pm for chest pains and shortness of breath. These people don t care. It s 6pm and I m still in the waiting room nearly on my last breath
I wouldn't bring my dog here. Nurses are rude and useless. My grandma is on the 3rd floor now and Family has to do their job. Ask for something and they act like how dare we. Lord bless this place.
The employees are lovely, the facility is welcoming and the caregivers are well-trained. The passion that they exude is world-class and their knowledge has saved the lives of many. I have witnessed the physicians and front-line staff give this love and care to myself and my loved ones. We are fortunate to have this hospital and it's comprehensive services local.
Very bad experience I went from the waiting room to room to hallway with no one telling me why.doc came in acting like my injury was not important enough an he keep laughing like he was high off the meds that he does not ask how he can help his patients
Piedmont took Excellent care of me. I had Ovarian Torsion which is a medical emergency. I was in extreme pain. They acted quickly consulted a GYN-OB specialist, and managed my pain until surgery. Earlier that evening, I had received a wrong diagnosis at Caromont in Gastonia and was treated terrible there!! When I arrived at Piedmont they provided prompt care. The ER staff was great. A special thanks to Avery my nurse. A special thanks to my GYN surgeon Dr. Bailey and to the female ER doc who consulted GYN for my care. Special thanks to both my Ultrasound tech and ER doc who were woman and could sympathize with the extreme pain I was having. The surgical team, pre-op and post-op were great. I have always liked Piedmont's Woman's Center and they took good care of me. Now, as far as Dr. Andrew Matthews at Caromont ER in Gastonia, he is awful. He downplayed my pain, refused to call in GYNOB, and misdiagnosed me, so don't go to him. He is a condescending jerk, who needs to learn from his mistakes! And not treat other woman the way he treated me.
My doctor, Dr. Hilton performs surgeries at Piedmont in Rock Hill. When Dr. Hilton told me I would need surgery and it would be performed at Piedmont it gave me pause for a moment because I had previously seen some negative reviews. I was assured the Women's Tower received wonderful reviews and that all would be great. I do love my Dr. and trust her very, very much so I went ahead with the surgery, 13 days ago today. I have to say that every single person I dealt with was so sweet, helpful and knowledgeable, all of the volunteers, Patient Access Reps., all of the Nurses pre-op, op, and post-op, Anesthesiologists, and of course my doctor. It did end up being an outpatient surgery but they made sure I was ok to leave and never made me feel rushed. They were all so sweet and really seemed to care to get to know me and make sure that I had the best experience. I have nothing negative to say. I hope others whom have had positive experiences like me will post too. Had there have been more positive posts I would not have stressed it at all. Thank you all at Piedmont :)
In the past, while never having a poor impression, it did seem to be lacking something. Over the past year (more) while taking my mom in and out, I have been very pleased with the professionalism and care of the entire staff, from cafeteria staff to room attendants, nurses and doctors. Thank you all.
This one star rating is solely for the billing department at Piedmont. The nursing staff and neonatal care is top notch, would give those guys 6 stars if I could. But the billing department does not want the bills paid. My wife gave authorization to them to deal with me. They did for three months and just decided they weren t going to anymore. Told us to go online to setup a auto draft bc they don t do that there. Went to the website and wouldn t allow me to setup or make a payment other than payment in full on my children s account.
I have a question for the medical staff: Why are so many bad reviews, old and recent, on internet?? I think is the time to put an end to this. Is it so hard to run this business in a satisfactory way?
How do you mess up a test as simple as a MRI? You go to Piedmont Medical Center to have it done, that's how!!
My 8 year old had an MRI scheduled for 8am. We were told to arrive at 6am, which we did. We were completely ignored for over an hour. She was given a pre-op medication at about 7:20, then basically ignored for almost an hour, even though she was having an adverse reaction to it! When the pediatric hospitalist finally came in to see her, (an hour and a half late!) he simply told us the medication would just have to wear off, and left! She was finally taken for the MRI at 9am, 3 hours after we were told to arrive!! And 1 hour and a 40 minutes after she was given her pre-op medication!! By this time, my child had been in severe distress....having frightening hallucinations, feeling numb, crying that she couldn't move her arms or legs (she could, she just could not feel that she was moving them), screaming and crying, totally freaked out, for an hour and a half; totally unmonitored, despite having a heart condition!!
Bottom line, we will NEVER go to Piedmont Medical Center, again, for ANYTHING!!
There is no communication between services, and no accountability!
we had a medical emergency and being new to the area drove to the closest hospital. Piedmont staff saved the day, they were polite and took care of business and basically saved a loved ones life. Hospital seems like a older building....it was clean. the ER room is a chaotic place in any hospital. so if something is out of place in our ER room it is a non issue for me. I thought the prices were not bad for what was done, was pleasantly surprised with the bill. I will return to Piedmont and recommend it to others
I wish I could give a lower rating. I am not a nurse or doctor and have never claimed to be. However, my own education better prepared me to be a nurse than half the staff at this hospital. I interacted with several nurses who were not only rude but were lazy. They would do whatever necessary to sit on their butt and gossip like a bunch of back row Baptists. You cannot even leave your loved one because the staff is so incompetent it is up to you to demand certain care for your loved one as they will do nothing if given the chance. I rarely, if ever, complain and/or speak poorly about an institution. I understand that many are doing the best they can and that public service is challenging as I am a teacher. However, if you choose to enter the public service field you need to understand and have some form of work ethic. The individuals at this hospital have no work ethic and absolutely no desire to truly help their patients.
Please please please do your homework before you go to this facility's ER. You do have other options. If being taken by ambulance you still have a choice. There is a lot of things going on at this facility....I want everyone to be safe and not in therapy after a visit gone wrong ....and if you have an issue, there is no use makng a complaint, the facility has to protect their own, not the patients. If there is anyone out there that feels they have been treated in an unprofessional manner at this facility, please mesaage me. There is power in numbers.
I want to give a great review for the Psych unit. When I was there I was really going thru it emotionally and was feeling like giving up. I truly believe that the staff thru the Psch unit are totally amazing. They cheered me up so much and made me realize I had to keep pushing forward. I only remember certain first names but Teresa, Antwan (?) , Allison, Cassy, Lisa, Cathy (?)Paul and Dr. Lee!! I'll be honest with previous visits to.ER or Women's tower I didn't have a single good thing to.say about Piedmont either but with these people.. I'll definitely give 5 stars Many KUDOS to Psych unit!
Just left this hospital to go to pineville hospital. The people were rude , uncaring, and the place is filthy. Don t go here ..go to pineville. It was so bad I left before treatment as nobody was listening to me .
This review is solely on my experience to TRY and pay the balance of my bill. So a few months ago we set up a payment plan with the hospital ($100.00 montly), no problem. The problem came when I went to pay in full the bill at the hospital. They no longer have a business office, they can no longer look up what you owe. They send you to a person who does patient intake beside emergency room. They CANNOT look up your account, but you can go call a number and find out your balance. Are you kidding me, I walk in with $3500.00 cash , but was unsure of balance. So Jason , says I can take it, well I'm not giving you all this money and I could owe less. He says do I wanna pay the $100, then? Needless to say I left with exact amount of cash I walked in with. I'm guessing Piedmont would rather have you on a payment plan than take payment in full. So be it, $100.00 a month it is.
The service I received in the hospital was ok however dealing with the billing department is a nightmare. People should not have to deal with such stress when they are at their worst. Every month you visit the hospital a separate account is started. Stupid to start with. You have to have your accounts consolidated before setting up a payment plan. They say you have to pay an absurd amount (like $400 a month for 6 months) to stay within their "payment guidelines". If you don't make this payment, your account would be sent to collections, even if you made any type of payment. When you ask to speak to a supervisor they are either busy or do not return your call. Then your monthly statement does not match the bill online. Whenever questioned "the system is down." I've been fighting with them for 6 months now. Really horrible customer service billing department especially for someone who is trying to be reasonable and pay their bill. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere to save the agony after getting out of the hospital.
Only reason They got a star is cause you have to give at least one star to put. A review on here, but they really need to be shut down. They don t have any room. Must of they patient is in the hall way. It s to many people that need a Job to be like this.
Doubtful this will make any difference but I need to share my recent experience with Piedmont ER. On 11/31/20 at 11:30 am I had an accident involving a table saw and cut approximately 1/2 of my left index finger off. I arrived at Piedmont at 11:50 and was quickly seen by the ER room nurse. My finger was wrapped in gauze and I was quickly taken to XRay. I came back from XRay and went almost straight to billing.... that is where everything stopped. I watched as person after person was taken in for treatment. Several that were there when I arrived and a few that arrived after me. I noticed however that I was the only person with a visible injury. Understanding that you have to prioritize patient according to urgency and need, I didn t make any assumptions. That is until three young girls came in laughing and taking on cell phones two hours after I arrived. None were sent to billing which I was seated close to. All three where taken back for treatment . After 5 1/2 hours of waiting, I went to the front desk and asked if they could give me an idea of how much longer. I said my finger has been cut off and the pain is starting to get pretty serious. Her reply was there are 4...or at least 4 in front of you, so I don t know what to tell you. I messaged my wife to pick me and my blood soaked, gauze wrapped finger up. With zero medication or treatment, I made it through the night and made an appointment for Atrium Urgent Care. That will be my last visit to Piedmont ER unless I have no say-so in the matter.
The worst hospital imaginable. Largely incompetent doctors, aggressive nurses, and poor service at every step of the way. How this place hasn't been shut down is a mystery. Go anywhere else if at all possible.
After sitting in ER for almost two hours in severe pain, I would not recommend this place to anyone and I will not be going back. I'll die first!!! On top of that, they were more concerned about their visitors then their patients which really made me leave their facility. Guess what? I'm still in pain and I have recorded what happened at this place today. My attorney will review and move forward.
My mother was admitted through the ER and was never taken to a room and had to sleep behind a curtain divider on an ER gurney. For breakfast she was served a scrambled egg. Half of a dried out English muffin and TATOR TOTS. she asked for water the nurse said that she'd have to check and see if water was on her diet an hour passed before she came back and my mom asked about lunch and she said did you not eat lunch when you were in the other area? My mom said noone has mentioned lunch, this is at 3pm. The nurse tells her she can bring her some Graham crackers but dinner isn't until 5pm. This place treats patients worse than the York County Prison and should seriously do some improving immediately. Families aren't allowed in with patients so I sat in my car for 4 hours waiting in the parking lot before she was taken back, only to he out behind a curtain. I wish I could download the pictures she sent, and I wish now we had gone to Pineville or Charlotte.
I was very nervous about delivering my baby here after reading so many negative reviews. I must say my experience exceeded my expectations. The nurses were caring from beginning to end during my stay here. I felt supported and respected. Each nurse who cared for me was compassionate and made me feel 100% comfortable. Don t make assumptions based on others negative comments/experiences.
If I could leave one star, I would. After an accident I was treated like a criminal by nearly every employee. They became mad at me after I denied things I knew to be unnecessary because I did not wish to be billed more than I had too. I have a sibling who was charged, unfortunately without insurance, 400 dollars just to remove a piece of cotton she placed in her ear so I was hesitate on allowing them to do anything that wasn't needed. And after being home I realized that the hospital tag/bracelet I received for identification is even labeled with the wrong name. Not once was it even checked. The 'care' I received was both an insult and a joke and I wonder why this place is even still operating.
ALSO, I have found that a lot of the postive reviews that they do have online are from their staff; humorous almost that it not be all patients.
I landed in Piedmont Medical Center on New Years morning 2018. Everyone was friendly, supportive and took excellent care of me even though through a fluke in timing, I didn't have insurance at the time. No one treated me badly in any way. The nurses were awesome as were the doctors. And the doctors came by regularly. The only thing I didn't like about this hospital was the food. Their food really is bad and I question their heart healthy diet, among other things.
Otherwise, I am totally grateful to Piedmont Medical Center and all their staff for saving my life, and for providing me financial assistance as a hardship case. THEY ARE GREAT!
The worst possible place to go for anything. You would honestly be better off doing whatever it is you need help with yourself. Immensely long waits, and they have no sense of emergency there. I was once in a room with another lady who had a broken wrist and nobody cared for her for hours on end. I was there with a sever case of the flu and all they gave me was an IV and once that was taken out it was bent and soaked in my blood. Never actually saw a doctor. Please save yourself the wasted money and time and get the proper help you deserve somewhere else. I wish I could give this place a no star review because it is honestly that bad. DO NOT GO TO PIEDMONT!!!
Had bypass heart surgery (5) two and a half weeks ago. Dr. Peter Zakow and Dr. Paul Slota were my doctors. Could not have asked for two better doctors or people. Very professional in every aspect. From my emergency room visit to my release from Piedmont Medical Center after a week, everything went extremely well. The care I received from the nurses was outstanding the entire time. If you ever need heart surgery I would highly recommend you strongly consider the Heart Team at Piedmont. The doctors and nurses along with all their assistants were world class in the care they offered. I found nothing but highly professional people who were concerned about your care. They always took the time to answer any and all questions you had and explain them in detail. There is no question my experience was five out of five. I certainly appreciate everyone and everything Piedmont did for me. Thank you.
I have been treated several times at Piedmont, I have had the best care everytime!! The ER was the best!! Thank You to all Doctors, Nurses, technicians, they treated me with respect and professionalism with a smile.
Horrible experience went to get an x ray on my knee was in the hospital for three hours was eventually called to the back and waited even longer for a doctor to come take a look at me and was not informed that I would be billed do not go to this hospital understaffed and rude... I will never go back again even took forever to get my knee wrap I will definitely remember to go to urgent care next time.
One star because I had to!! I needed medical results/medical records day of... and they wouldn't give it to me due to that department being closed!! Hello we are in a pandemic right?? Why is that department closed! I had an emergency where my son needed to go see another doctor but with out result of another test they performed days before I can't take my son.. there answer open a patient portal... how if he is under 13?? How can a department be close when you are a hospital.....this is on your website,, "Providing our patients with advanced, patient-centered care is one of our top priorities" is not true!! You do not put your patients 1st, I have sat there for hours at a time and not complain, I have the upmost respect for this line of work but when you have nurses, and desk people who do not care to help or even try to get you answers that is not being patient-centered!!
Food service needs to be changed due to inconsistency in service. This is something nurses and doctors can't change....it falls on management and higher ups.
My stay was decent. Communication is like most basic companies, inconsistent and lacking. Services provided were good....as long as you weren't too emotional or had a nice approach towards staff. We all have bad days, especially when wanting to to leave the psyche unit.
Also, have to advocate b.c for yourself or have the number to the patient advocate if you are unable to communicate well with staff.
Really enjoyed most of the staff. I plan on seeking outpatient intensive therapy through them.
I was in the women s tower recovering from surgery. As far as care from the nurses and the CNAs it was super. They made sure my stay was as comfortable as possible, meds given on time. BIG THANK YOU! Just as the previous reviewers said, the food does suck. Ask for the pudding and graham crackers. It s the hospital ya know, not a restaurant. I didn t have high expectations based on other reviews, but I d totally recommend this hospital! Super nice nurses and staff!
Visited the hospital on Sunday September 22,2019. We were sent there from Riverview Medical. The ER was a mess, the floors were dirty chairs were nasty and I even witnessed some of the staff being very rude to patients and family members. Now I will say that the dr who treated my son was very courteous and friendly, but the rest of the visit was very bad.
Went to the emergency room last night. WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!!!!!!! Sat for three hours!!! Saw people waiting in herfiic pain. Several trips to counter and sorry can't do anything. Very somber employees. Did not seem to care at all. One women was about to pass out from a possible concussion they did nothing. At the 2hr30 min mark I was told there were 7 people still in front of us. I didn't see 5 people go back and stay back for treatment during the whole time. Horrible service.
My mother recently spent the past 3 weeks at Piedmont Medical Center and I was there with her for most of that time. I cannot say enough about the quality of care that she received from the technicians, nurses and doctors both on the PCU floor (3rd floor) as well as the ICU doctors on the 3rd floor as well as the palliative care nurse and doctor. They worked closely with myself and my family to understand my mother's medical and other needs and to make her as comfortable as possible. They truly cared about her and it showed even to the level of the cleaning staff and those on the phone taking orders for her meals. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all who worked with her and my family during this time - you all made a difference.
Every time I come here seems to be a problem, specifically on last visit was trying to find the charge nurse. Room control was locked, had to wait on security and after 45 minutes of them looking I just had to leave... been to many hospitals in the area. This is ridiculous!
My experience with pedimont hospital in rock was terrible I went to the emergency room with a gash in my foot pouring blood and sat in the waiting room for over a hour and didn't even get a room was put on a bed in the hallway while I waited for them to put stitches in my foot and when I finally seen a doctor after waiting for a hour in the hallway I didn't receive any medication for the pain all they did wa as numb it I could still feel pain while the sewed me up in the hallway and didn't get any crutches to help me walk when I got home so otw home my bf stopped by his grandmother's to borrow a cane. Once I got home, no sooner than I made it to the porch, I fell due to not being able to walk on my foot and not having a stable support such as CRUTCHES, I popped my stitches and had to go right back to a different hospital to do it all over again.
It doesn't even deserve a star. With having epilepsy and a series of reoccurring attacks, you'd think they'd get my blood results within the 4 hours I was waiting there. After 3 hours a nurse digs the IV into my arm, spending a few minutes moving the needle waiting for a blood flow to appear. Then, after a nurse said I would be leaving soon, the other tells me I can't leave and that I'm not abiding by his wishes, even though I have no idea what those are since a nurse only checked on me twice. Oh, and in the midst of all of this, I had 2 mini seizures in the room. Another thing seemingly undetected since no one came to check my irregular heartbeat. Never again will I be at this place.
Their cafeteria is a joke The Cook's they have don't know how to cook a precooked stuff and try to serve it to you I don't know what this place is like in the daytime because I've only been here at the night but their nighttime crew it's just not in them they don't care about what they're doing they don't care about the people they serve it was just terrible I used to manage restaurants and this cafeteria it was horrible!
Doctor Lee, his nurse and entire medical team were fantastic and so I highly recommend them! Thank you for all the attention and care you provided to my husband!
Just awful awful , no respect for your time , I regret why I came here , been in waiting room for ultrasound feels like centuries passed . They gave you arrival time 10:15 and procedure time 10:45am . Got here before arrival time . 11:30 am now no one seems to care . Never will come here again . Had a plan to eat lunch with my son in his school at noon . It s impossible now .
Enjoyed your book Dr Lesslie. Great effort, you and your team. Graduated LRC now LRU, Hickory, and am back home, living in Vancouver, BC area. Keep them coming. Peter C Palmer Langley, BC Canada
Kellie Disher, a supposed physician at this facility, got into a disagreement with a friend of mine on FB, and indicated that due to his weight he should commit suicide. What kind of a medical facility would hire an advocate of such a horrible thing. My husband's brother's brother in law recently committed suicide and the family is devastated.
I AM SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF A FAMILY MEMBER WHO WAS ADMITTED YESTERDAY. THE SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, THEY SHOULDN'T EVEN BE OPEN. THE 4TH FLOOR STAFF ARE SO UNPROFESSIONAL THERE'S NO WORDS FOR HOW BAD MY FAMILY MEMBER WAS TREATED. NOTHING WAS DONE, STAFF WAS NON-CARING, NO COMPASSION, AT ALL. NO KNOWLEDGE OR PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS AT ALL. FAMILY WAS DISCHARGED WITH ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT WAS WRONG..HE RECEIVED NO RESULTS ON ANYTHING, STILL DON'T KNOW. BUT I DO NO HE WILL BE BILLED, FOR WHAT I HAVE NO CLUE CAUSE THEY DID NOTHING. SOMETHING NEEDS TO HE DONE AND I'M SURE I'M NIT THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THE SAME. JUST TERRIBLE TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT.
What a wonderful group of professionals. Tara, Katie, Anna, even Josh the transporter were excellent. Don't be fooled by the other reviews. Just because you don't get what you want, or feel you deserve, doesn't mean you can hide behind a Google review. Phenomenal care and my only regret was that my stubbornness kept me from coming sooner....because of the reviews. Do you really think a hospital would still be around if it was as bad as the majority of other reviewers feel?
Staff is very nice, but this hospital is very unsanitary. Trash on the floors that nurses drop and don t bother to pick up, the same full trash can is still here from the day before, left over food on the ground, and stuck to the bottom of the bed tray like it hasn t been cleaned in FOREVER! There is literally stuff on my grandmother s bed that also looks like they haven t cleaned in sometime..... we came here from Florida and the hospitals there are a 10/10 compared to this place.... this hospital is DISGUSTING !
One star is FAR too good for this review! I brought my grandmother to the ER at about 3:30 am for a sore on her leg. She checked in and waited in the lobby for nearly half an hour until they took her vitals then she was sent back to wait and she was not taken to a room or seen about her leg until 7 am! By then, the sun was up and her pain was even worse. It wasn't until 8 am that she received an IV and blood was drawn, and it wasn't until 11 am when she was given oxygen. (She has COPD and is reliant on an oxygen tank at home. Her lips were, I kid you not, PURPLE. We didn't leave the ER until 1 pm and we will never go back. My mother later told us "Peidmont is the type of hospital that you come for a broken arm and leave dead." Never again. Nurses sat on their phones, stood around and gossiped with janitors, and I never saw a doctors face. Welcome to Rock Hill.
The Maternity ward in this hospital is excellent. They will take care of you from the time you arrive and until the time the mother and baby leaves. Baby Gabby was born pre-mature and unexpectedly, but the nurses here made us feel like family. My wife was in the hospital for four days, and each day the experience was just like the first (helpful and caring). Out of our 3 children born in different states, these nurses at this hospital took the top of the cake. All of their hard work and love was shown and still is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
For years I've heard people say that they wouldn't take their dog to Piedmont... Well, when my 4yo split her forehead open at 8:45pm it just seemed like the closest hospital was best. The waiting room leaves much to be desired, the pairla is awful with the seating very close to each other and the seats (at least the ones we were on) were fabric instead of plastic or leather or something eating wiped down and disconnecte. We noticed after getting up that the one we were sitting on had dried blood as well as the floor.... That all said, I've never been in and out of an ER faster in my life. They got us right in to triage and maybe five minutes later into a room. The doctor came in and said he was about to end his shift but he wanted to look at her because if there was any way he could fix her up real quick before he left he would, so we wouldn't be forced to wait while shifts switched. He was able to glue the cut shut... And we were back in the car headed home in under an hour. Granted we weren't there with anything very serious, but when it comes to your kids, it's all serious... And I was pretty impressed with the care we received. We did however all come home and immediately take showers to wash all the hospital germs off! . . . Since I can't seem to figure out how to reply to the owners response to my review but I appreciate them taking the time to respond... I would say that my rating would definitely have been higher if the waiting room had an overhaul. We we're lucky to come in a quieter day but I imagine it can get busy and the furniture and cleanliness of the waiting room (which is the first impression of the emergency room) was very off putting. I'd definitely get rid of those fabric seats! No one wants to see dropp blood on the chairs they have to sit on. Otherwise we were pretty happy with how we were treated and how fast they took care of a man who came in right after us with a very serious wound.
***EDIT 9/8/18*** On second thought, after our extremely short visit that involved very few people, minimal supplies and a 5 second glue fix, we received a bill for almost $1600. When I called and gave them our insurance info, they then sent me a bill for $263. The entire visit wasn't worth $263. I can't believe the profiteering going on here and I am extremely disappointed. I would have rathered they tell me it didnt need stitches and I could have bought some dermabond myself and glued her head back together.
I was sent here by ambulance recently. The ED experience was the worst I ve ever had. Once I arrived I was sent to a room that hadn t been cleaned. The staff quickly changed the linens and washed the bed. The floor, walls, and ceiling were dirty. There were blood drops on the floor. I required a catheter and I was not cleansed before. After I requested a bedpan to finish and I called the nurse 3 times with no help. I sat on the bedpan for over an hour before the nurse came back and she was surprised I was still sitting on the bedpan. She wasn t careful and spilled it, but she at least changed the linens. The soiled linens were thrown in the floor in the corner of the room. The nurse poured the urine down the hand washing sink and placed the bedpan in there too. This hospital used to be good but now I question the cleanliness and related procedures.
Unfortunately I've had to be seen 3 times over the last few months. One of the visits was to Emergency. I can't tell you how kind and caring the staff is. After my Emergency visit the physician followed up by phone to see how I was feeling. Who does that anymore? Can't say enough about this place. Thank you!
Very uneducated staff. Poor communication skills with patient, as well as family members. I really do not want to give 1 star. But that was the least I could give. 0 would be more accurate.
Years ago I went here as a suicide risk. I was sent away and told not to come back unless I had money. If I had been alone (with nobody to stop me) I probably would have killed myself right there in the parking lot.
Went in for stomach pains, and nausea, Dr told me a had a virus, wrong come to find out i have a ulcer. During my treatment the nurse who was discharging me ripped the iv out of my arm. This hospital just doesn't care to much in a hurry to get you out. Want go to piedmont again.
This hospital provides terrible service in the ER. The doctor who saw me had poor bedside manner and seemed to be completely disconnected with me her patient. This hospital grossly overcharged me for a simple ultrasound. The hospital gave me an bill estimate based on my insurance prior to leaving after a 3 hour stay. The estimate was $543.31, however I recently received my bill for $1,587. Both my wife and I spoke to the billing department to find out why such a huge discrepancy and all we got was it was an estimate. My response to this is if I get a painter to provide an estimate to paint my house, the bill better not come in 3 times more than stated. They continued reply was this was only an estimate. I will never go back to that hospital unless I'm in a life threatening emergency and I would recommend to you all who are reading this beware of the terrible service and what I believe to be a fraudulent billing system. ________________________________________________________________________ Yesterday, I received two telephone calls from hospital staff to discuss my post.
The first call was to discuss my dissatisfaction with the Doctor's mannerism. I appreciate your phone call and concerns. Furthermore I appreciate you looking into this matter and ways to improve customer care.
The second call was from the billing department and a waste of my time. The conversation started out with me explaining that I received an estimate from hospital staff as I was walking down the hall exiting the ER after all services had been performed. The estimate I received was for $543. I received a bill a few weeks later for $1,587. The hospital employees response over and over was that "This Was Only An Estimate". She also stated 1/2 dozen times in a 20 minute discussion, "You Signed The Estimate". Websters Dictionary defines estimate as "to judge tentatively or approximately the value, worth or significance of", "to produce a statement of the approximate cost of". What I haven't told you yet is, READ the fine print at the bottom or take an attorney with you, noting that there could be additional charges and fees. Okay I get it, a slight modification to the bill no problem. However, the estimate should be representative or somewhat close not three times the amount, otherwise its a useless document and a waste of hospital resources, time and budget. My suggestion to all who are reading my comments is DO NOT again DO NOT sign the estimate. They can not make you and you lose all negotiating power and common sense reasoning with this hospital. One final note is that this was the hospital estimate for services, I have also received additional bills from the Doctor, Radiology and Laboratory Services in which I expected to receive. The only thing the hospital can do to satisfy this matter is to send me an invoice that is somewhat close to the estimate or couple, few hundred dollars more, not 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT! Shame on you for your deceitful practices!!
This is a long one, but worth a read. If you have options for ANYWHERE but here you should take them.
I have never seen a more disorganized, to the point of dangerous to patients, hospital in my life which is impressive considering I was an EMT and a significant number of my family members are medical professionals in various rolls at several major hospitals and other medical facilities.
I came to the facility via ambulance late night exhibiting symptoms of severe dehydration, waited for an hour upon arrival to see anyone. Got into a room, met the doctor, who did NO EXAM. Was given a chest x-ray and a CT scan, and a blood panel was collected. 3 liters of fluids were then administered, the bags ran dry and symptoms returned almost immediately, my family flagged down a nurse who said she would get a doctor. 2 hours went by, the same nurse returned and said I was being discharged with a zofran prescription for nausea that I wasn't experiencing. I asked again for the doctor because cramping was returning. Her response was "What do you want me to do about it, this is the doctors order."
I got halfway home and lost muscular control of my hands an feet again and began to feel light headed. Returned to the hospital and my arms and legs again were seized. A second doctor (the only decent doctor I saw) came in and did an initial exam and more blood work to confirm the "concerning" findings of the initial blood work. Added a magnesium drip and another 500mL IV. When the results of the blood work came back I was admitted immediately. This was around 5am.
Day 1, Monday, meals came on schedule, no shower available because there was no curtain. Blood work was collected again. A prescription for potassium, calcium (tums), and fluids was given. An additional magnesium bag was given. Vitals were taken every other hour or so during the day. Dinner was served, dinner plates and such were collected, vitals were taken one more time, I saw no doctor all day. After dinner service, the night nurse checked in and introduced himself. I did not see a medical professional again until phlebotomy showed up in the morning. No more vital checks, no IV check, still no shower curtain.
Day 2, blood work collected again, before meds. Vitals taken around 10am, about the same time meds were delivered, vitals taken again every other hour or so till dinner. Met with a doctor who requested a vitamin D test after lunch, and the issue was found, a vitamin D deficiency so vitamin D pills added to prescription regime. Also first time seeing a doctor in 2 days. Got the okay to take a shower around 2pm, IV was unhooked. Shower curtain was delivered at 7pm after several requests. nurse shift changed, was informed that there was no script for the IV so no need to hook it back up. I asked why I was still there if they weren't going to be doing anything. No answer. Again another night of no vitals.
Day 3, another blood panel, more meds, still no IV. Day shift nurse came in around 8:30 I asked about the IV and she was visibly startled and hooked it back up at a higher rate. Doctor came in reviewed blood work asked how the IV was doing, and was SHOCKED that I hadn't been connected all night. He said the electrolytes were still off, one more night in the hospital. At this point I requested a meeting with administration. Basically I was being kept for observation but no one was observing anything. Again, IV ran dry and was disconnected so I could shower, again it was never refilled or hooked back up. Another night of no check ins, no meds, generally no care whatsoever.
Day 4, nurse again showed up and frazzled hooked up another IV. The charge nurse came in to review the file for discharge and noticed that another component wasn't right. At this point 4 different docs, and two managers had missed it. I met with three department managers from 10 to around noon, and a hospitalist around 1pm and was discharged.
Set up an appointment with my primary care, she reviewed the files and it was a TRAINWRECK. Care was abysmal and not correct from the start.
I'm lucky to be alive. Major car accident, traumatic incident. My world got rocked. Car is totaled. I dont even live around here!!! But if it wasnt for the efforts of EMTS and the exceptional staff at Peidmont Medical Center, I wouldnt know what to do next. Michelle in ER got me calm enough to realize it's not the end of the world. From there, the entire staff at the Progressive Care Unit helped me stay upbeat while I figure out the next chapter of my life. I may have lost how I lived, but I didnt lose my life. Thanks Peidmont. I owe you everything.
If I could give 0 stars it would, this people don't care about patients make them feel unwelcome, I don't want to fill up my house with bills from the hospital , if I go is because I can take the health situation anymore at home and fear for what could happen , been there a few times due to the same illness they seem to find no explanation of what's causing it and the last doctor was talking to me in a unacceptable tone of voice like he literally saying what you keep coming here there's nothing we can do . Horrible experience . Should it down , rebuild and bring people that cares we all want to live!!!!
Very friendly efficient staff. I had to take my 15 month old to the ER on 08/29/2015 @ 10:30 at night. We were welcomed promptly then vitals were taken promptly by a precious RN who not only was patient with my son but kind to his blubbering mama. We were taken to a room in a timely manner and the doctor came in quickly and took excellent care of our sweet boy! We were in and out within a hour! It was also clean. Thank you to those who were working last night! Nobody wants to go to the ER but if I had to be there ( which I did) y'all made it pleasant. I would recommend to anyone!
Do you like being forgotten?! How about waiting a comically long time for inadequate medical care?! How about answering the same questions an inexplicable number of times even though everything is entered into a tablet/computer every time you're asked! Well, then Piedmont Medical Center is THE choice for making your situation worse! You'll start by being sick/injured and by the time you leave you'll be angry, frustrated, seething, and confused by how long you've been there vs. the service provided. As a bonus, administration will enter your information incorrectly, so you'll be sure to miss every letter saying you still have a balance on your account. Who doesn't enjoy a surprise call from a collections agency! You're sure to have a migraine inducing experience!
This was the worst hospital visit I ve ever had, when I got to the ER my problem was that half of my face went numb on my right side then my fingers on my right side & along with that I had a plummeting headache. When they got me into the back I didn t even have a room, my bed and my treatment took center outside of the rooms in the HALLWAY! While being there they took x-rays of my torso and cat scans of my brain. They couldn t find anything & they gave me something through an IV that they call a medicine cocktail which stopped my headache but they couldn t find out why my face and fingers were numb. They discharged me with a virus illness and a headache . Don t ever visit here this is the worst experience I ve ever had and they should be ashamed of the type of work they do.
In 4 days my bed was never changed. They have sent me home way too soon, I am still very sick. Six years agp I was there for an outpatient procedure and I died on the table. Once again no one listened to me. I'm not giving them a second chance to kill me.
I honestly used to hate this place but I went on yesterday at 2, and by 2:30 I was in an ER room, doctor was immediately in and I was administered pain meds and antibiotics for 3 different issues with my kidneys while 5 months pregnant. By 6 I was in the women's center and discharged by 1:30 today, the nurses were so sweet and gentle, I saw 3 different doctors all giving me a detailed description of what was going on.
Hospital needs to be updated and cleaned. I am waiting in ER waiting room for my husband to come pick me up and my room, the bathroom in the hallway, and ER waiting room are all dirty. The ER waiting room smells sour.
Dr. Todd was very nice but the rest of staff seem miserable. I had a breathing treatment but it was cut short. Respiratory Therapist ended the breathing treatment short and said that's good and left. Nurses were rude. I was given discharge papers and then the guy nurse just left. He didn't say, "get better" or anything. I got up and went to nurse station and was looked at like I was stupid. I said "so that's it?" And they said yeah, and told me to go to ER waiting room.
They discharged me very quickly it seems. My hands and feet are still blown up and itch and are numb from the allergic reaction and I have pneumonia and asthma. But since this place is very unwelcoming and unsanitary, I just want to get out of here.
I ve lived in Rock Hill for a few years now and I guess I ve been lucky with good care and great staff. What I will say is that I never see the same good staff members. So, if the hospital is always replacing people like bodies a team can not stay consistent. But I m just a visitor. What would I know.
Worst. Experience. Ever. My wife arrived at 9 am. It took almost 12 hours to get a room. By 9 am THE FOLLOWING DAY she still had nothing to eat. When I called to ask what was up, I was told they left a menu in her room. And...? And nothing. They left a menu with no instructions on what she was supposed to do. The nursing staff was snippy. The doctor said that the bloating in her abdomen was caused by headaches (???!!!). Nothing worked - electric doors wouldn't open. The computer in her room didn't work. The attending were giving her medication without any explanation (or explanations that didn't make sense - such as giving her blood thinners because they said, and I quote... "We have to give you something." All kinds of equipment was always making beeping noises so that it was a cacophony of error sounds that no one was paying attention to. The icing on the cake? I finally had enough and transferred her to CMC Pineville. That morning, Piedmont had given her sedatives and blood thinners - she was barely awake, much less mobile. But since I decided to transfer her out, THEY COULDN'T PROVIDE A FREAKING WHEELCHAIR TO HELP HER TO THE DOOR. I literally had to carry her out, from the 4th floor, with the help of her brother. Never again will I set foot in this hospital unless it is truly an emergency - and I will transfer out as soon as possible.
This is the 2nd time this month that my wife has been at Piedmont hospital. The first time she sat for 6 hours in the waiting area until she was seen by the ER doctor and was admitted 11 hrs after first arriving there. Now this time she was sent to the ER by Dr. Pennington and 2 1/2 hrs. later she is still waiting to see the ER doctor. This place needs to have more doctors on duty or on call .
I want to the E.R. On 1/31/2019 it took them a long time to call us for a room but there were other people that come in before us and the were in first is. When my daughter had a fever of 104.0 And when they give a room. They give us a bed in the hallway were waiting and waiting tell the nurse came to check on us. We re in the hallway at 9:50pm the nurse did not check on us till 10:40pm at some time we had to go to the ex ray room. But I did not talk to a doctor at all or nurse at all. I was confuse why is my 7 year going to take a ex ray if no had came and check on her. We did not Heard nothing from the doctor or the nurse on till they told we could go home. I am never going to take my daughter there again
And the time thing happened again when my 3 year we want to the E.R on 2/1/2019 b/c she had a fever of 104.0 when her fever was not breaking. So the nurse she got was rude . Forcing my daughter to take some medicine while we came in and somebody give her some medicine in a cup sugar drink it no the nurse said to shove it in her mouth this is stupid why do they give you a cup . I am sure that I am not coming back with both of daughters to be Treated like this again
After waiting in the lobby for 4 hours (not exaggerating) I was brought to a bed in the hallway and was "treated" as being dehydrated which i was, but they failed to catch the infection in my blood and urine during to a cyst rupturing on my uterus. Mistakes will be made but it took my primary physician a total of 10 minutes to see the infection. I told the staff many times that i felt extremely uncomfortable being treated in a hallway for everyone to hear my business and the nurse's response to me was "we all have had a bad day"! Thank God i had sense enough to get a second opinion on my condition or else i could have become septic and possibly could have died from the infection.
You scammed me and my family out of $11,000, made me cry, and couldn't find my vein. I will never visit your overpriced hospital again. You did way too much lab work, mocked me for how I handled pain, and did it even give me the xrays you supposedly took, And I hope the next person who needs your help doesnt leave bankrupt like I did. And nurse Jordan deserves better.
I can Not give this entire hospital an F, staff, Nurses the phlebotomist all deserve 5 stars, however the "ER Doctor Charles Eaves" I can say he's not taking Oath properly, before I left there I thought I was hearing things my son has Chrons and a Tumor, now this I took my son there ay first he said he had ingrown hairs which were the size of baseballs on his bottom and they were going to take care of him! He stated I'm going get an IV started and give him antibiotics draw blood work and take care of it. Then as he found out his insurance was gone because he lost his job due to his illness... . He gave him a different diagnosis of cellulitis gave him prescriptions costing in the hundreds of dollars a Opiate prescription which he declined to get filled. Remind you I just told him he lost job didn't have a primary care doctor..... he resides another state than I do. Even the Walmart Pharmacy tried to get him to change the prescription because of the cost, no insurance he was rude to her as well, the pharmacist tried..... So my son was sent home in the hospital with " an infection in his blood " I have the copy of the blood sent to me from his chart...what kind of doctor does this??? I guess they couldn't do anything by what I've Been Told they could have explained his blood work to me or to us. I'm feeling hopeless this is my son, his life. I I lost my aunt to the same disease he has. And she didn't have all the other complications like he has. God help us please.
To The Administration and Staff of Piedmont Medical Center of RockHill South Carolina:
I would like to express, with tears in my eyes, how truly grateful I am to the nurses and doctors of The Piedmont Medical Center ER and Hospital. These exemplary Ladies and Gentlemen are not just examples of how the medical profession should run a facility, but they embody the kind of attributes that all humans should personally strive to embody.
I came to the emergency room on 11/30/19 in the middle of the evening rush, I was complaining about rapid heart rate and dizziness.. I am from out of state and forgot my insurance information, so I had to select "self pay".. Regardless of my appearance and my perceived ability to pay; I was immediately seen and treated with the utmost respect. The ER team that night treated me and my symptoms seriously.
I ended up needing multiple blood transfusions.. Which saved my life. Even after I was stabilized and admitted inside the main hospital, my nurses and Doctor made me feel right at home.. we talked about family, careers, dreams and aspirations... Above and beyond is all I can say.. Also the GI surgical team was super friendly and comforting and I appreciate each and every one of you!!
To my day and night shift ER nurses (5pm 11/30/19 to 4pm 12/1/19): very efficient and knowledgeable, explained every detail of what was going on, fast paced in getting any needs or wants, and both were very kind.
To my day and night shift main hospital room nurses(5pm 12/1/19 to 11am 12/2/19): These 2 Ladies made me feel like they were my sisters! Kind and caring, listened to me chatter on... Eased my fears of my situation... They are "A-1" nurses with "A-1" character!!
To my GI surgery nurses (11/2/19 around 9am): I was only there a short time but everyone had friendly, smiling faces, and explained everything to me. Thank you!
Anyone who is treated by Dr. Adeola is a fortunate person, as they are in capable hands I cannot recommend him highly enough.. (Thank you sooo much) and Dr. Rezak and the ER doctors as well!
I don't mean for this to be so long, but I really wanted to single out and emphasize on the quality of care and compassion I received, since it truly and unequivocally saved me...a 30something yr old young lady & Mother from dying right before the holiday season away from home. I am humbled and GRATEFUL! Jami B.
Took my aunt to the hospital last week for a swollen shoulder due to an IV being taken out incorrectly the following day . The doctor told her she had shingles. She went to her own doctor the next day and it turned out it was a blood clot.
I know most ER's get a bad wrap, especially Piedmost but I must say we had top notch care and service last night. My sweet daughter who is 12 was in a car accident and got hit with the air bag so she was hit in the face pretty bad. I took her to make sure she didn't have anything broken and her hand was hurt as well so have it check out too. From the moment we were in triage to a room and getting an x-ray, Harmony (our triage nurse), Dr. Todd (the attending physician), Jenna our nurse when we were in our room and then Kinasha (with registration) were all amazing and caring and had a wonderful bedside manor. We could have not asked for better care and I appreciate them being thorough and caring to put my sweet girl at ease as well as this shook up mama who wasn't in the accident but go the call that they were in a wreck. We were in and out in 2 hours or so and it was already 9:15 pm when we arrived. I would say that is great timing for a busy ER.
Telling you false information..And very hateful. It seems like they tell you these things thinking they know what there talking about. It was not a Doctor. So just be aware of getting false info.
I took my son to the ER for psych issues. The psychiatrist on call refused to listen to me about the drugs he put my son on (I asked that he call the primary one my son sees and he refused). And when I voiced my concerns he threatened me. Then the hospital social worker threatened me and tried to bully me saying she would all the police on me and DSS. She did. Neither cared btw if she happens to read this. Because MY SON NEEDED CARE! I was called and bullied by nurses also, and when I wouldn't do what they wanted (I'm advocating for my son not here to allow them to drug him with drugs that have been proven to NOT work and harm him!!) they yelled at me and hung up on me. Please if you have a child do NOT take them here. They don't care, they just want to drug them into a little zombies so they won't hurt themselves and to send them home.
Where do you start with this place. It is the sorriest hospital you will ever go to, I came in here for an issue last winter came in by ambulance, never even seen a doctor and wheeled me in a wheelchair to a packed waiting room for 9 hours. I said I m not doing this anymore and my family took me home. I had to go to another physician to find out what was wrong, my bill even with good insurance, was extremely high so I setup a payment plan because I don t won t anything to go on my credit report. They took there payment every month like clock work until this month they didn t draft there payment, and sent my remaining balance to a collection agency that sent me a letter in the mail yesterday. I called the hospital witch said it wasn t my fault and now they have to recall it. This is the second time they have done this. In the beginning I had my issue reviewed because the way I see it is if I came by ambulance that s fine I ll pay for it, but if I m sitting in the waiting room for 9 hours and never even seen a doctor I shouldn t have to pay for that. They did review my case but of course they denied it. And that s all because they are money hungry and very sorry and pathetic hospital. I honestly would rather go to a animal clinic than to go here, so please for the love of God go somewhere else there awful here JUST STAY AWAY.
