Doubtful this will make any difference but I need to share my recent experience with Piedmont ER.
On 11/31/20 at 11:30 am I had an accident involving a table saw and cut approximately 1/2 of my left index finger off.
I arrived at Piedmont at 11:50 and was quickly seen by the ER room nurse. My finger was wrapped in gauze and I was quickly taken to XRay.
I came back from XRay and went almost straight to billing.... that is where everything stopped.
I watched as person after person was taken in for treatment. Several that were there when I arrived and a few that arrived after me.
I noticed however that I was the only person with a visible injury. Understanding that you have to prioritize patient according to urgency and need, I didn t make any assumptions.
That is until three young girls came in laughing and taking on cell phones two hours after I arrived. None were sent to billing which I was seated close to. All three where taken back for treatment .
After 5 1/2 hours of waiting, I went to the front desk and asked if they could give me an idea of how much longer. I said my finger has been cut off and the pain is starting to get pretty serious.
Her reply was there are 4...or at least 4 in front of you, so I don t know what to tell you.
I messaged my wife to pick me and my blood soaked, gauze wrapped finger up.
With zero medication or treatment, I made it through the night and made an appointment for Atrium Urgent Care.
That will be my last visit to Piedmont ER unless I have no say-so in the matter.
