I had an upper aortic dissection on April 29, 2015. Fortunately I was taken to Caromont Regional and rushed into emergency surgery and survived, even given the low percentages less than 1% chance of survival. The physicians and staff saved my life. Give it whatever rating you wish. They get 5 stars from me. Even after being transferred to CMS Main in Charlotte for follow up surgeries months later the surgeons at CMS said the Caromont surgeons had preformed a miraculous procedure. Cudos to all!

Dr Heath High and nurse practionioner Alexa are being excellent team leads per shift in helping a family member at CaroMont. His bedside nurse, Brandon, is treating him with respect. Brandon is being incredibly patient, compassionate and professional, above our expectations, while Dr High and his team work diligently at stabilizing our loved one, as well as keeping us as family members informed.

I went into ER due to swollen foot and shortness of breath. As my wife drove me to the hospital, no one at the ER entrance to provide wheelchair. Luckily when we arrived, we were admitted quickly and the ER staff did a phenomenal job of coordinating tests to evaluate my situation. As I had explained, I have the misfortune of having gout attacks and had just recovered from one recently. Due to the other symptoms, I was given an ultrasound and CT scan and x-ray of my foot to rule out blood clot. The attending ER doctor said because I also had a fever, that he recommended I be admitted for further testing, as he suspected Sepsis infection. So I was admitted and taken to the coronary unit to continued to be monitored. At this point my experience would had been 5 stars but the saga continued as they wanted a podiatrist to look at my foot since it was severely swollen. Since my breathing and heart/lungs checked out ok, I was moved to the "standard" floor, where things quickly went down hill with the quality of care I was given. The podiatrist came to the room and examined but was unsure since I was no longer having a fever but my foot was swollen and sore. I provided him them back story and he kept alluding to Sepsis infection as the cause and ordered an MRI to look for soft tissue damage (although I had not had any injury)... I had been given antibiotics IV to "flush" my system, however, the floor had to order an IV pump which took 4 hours to arrive to my room, which at this point I also missed the "delicious" hospital meal since I was transferred and it was delivered to previous room number - whatever... wanting to get to the bottom of the issue, 2 people from radiology showed up to do another X-Ray. When I told them I already had an X-Ray and needed an MRI, they insisted on doing it on my ankle and that I would have the MRI later that evening. On to another night(mare) stay in this hospital, where I had to endure moans from other patients and all the typical equipment noises throughout the night. My biggest complaint was the thin wall that all I heard was staff talking and laughing ALL NIGHT long. When I mentioned the noise to the nurse on duty, she said she would check on it. Needless to say the chatter and noise continued with NO SLEEP to be had. I will not go to this hospital or recommend it to anyone who has to be admitted for "general" care... because they genuinely don't care. I was told I couldn't be moved to another room/floor because "they're all like this"... I ended up not wait for MRI (which was scheduled for the AFTERNOON and not morning like I was told previously) and discharged myself. GASTONIA Medical Hospital Care is GASTONIA all over it... go to a real hospital if you can.

My elderly mother was a patient on the 3rd floor and the treatment she and others received by the staff was deplorable. I observed staff members arguing with relatives, security was summoned to remove one family when they questioned a family members care. They insisted that my mother was irate and refusing treatment and refusing to walk to the bathroom(although the physical therapist documented that she was not able to). The Dr. deemed that since she knew the Presidents name she was in her right mind. Although the same hospital diagnosed her with dementia in 2015. Since she was uncooperative we were told she would need to leave the hospital. This was symptomatic of the treatment I saw happening to people of all races on that floor.... Shameful

If I could give zero stars i would. The staff is pleasant however they are so short staffed that I waited on pain medication for an hour. My IV fluid keep going off and no one has come as of yet to change the bag out. No one changed the hat in the toilet or measured my urine and im a strict i and o patient. Overall i would never return to this hospital for any reason. Unsatisfied and paying a ton of money!

Came because i had a avm surgery at cmc main that had busted open to the white meat it was infected . Well first wen i arrived two nurses saw me an amputee that needed a wheelchair but they did not offer me a wheelchair , my boyfriend had to go all the way in a get me one. But they had just walked another woman in with who was white in a wheelchair . Go figure ! When i got to my room the nurse was extremely rude i would ask her a question her immediate response was "I dont know , i dont even get paid enough to work here" EVERYTIME . My boyfriend was asking her questions she was just completely rude to him . Im not one for confortation but at that point i was ready to cuss her out . If you hate your job that much dont work !! She never offerd me a warm blanket i set there for 30 min with no blanket. SHE started to asked about my situation i told her i have a avm which causes chronic pain so i have to have treatments every other month and the wound that i have was the biggest one yet . She tells me its not the worst she seen and its not that bad !AS IF I ASKED HER WHAT SHE SEEN trying to downgrade my pain. SHE DOESNT KNOW WHAT TYPE OF PAIN AVM PAITENTS GO THROUGH . 24 HOUR PAIN EVERYDAY . They left my wound unrapped knowing tht it was leaking and infected so that didnt help !! They also sent me home with meds that wouldnt help my pain for more. Then 3 hours !!! Like really its like dont matter how much pain you're in , they dont think you are . Never will be going to gaston memorial again sucky service , you could be shot and they will still wait 3 hours to come to your room . DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND TAKE THAT TRIP TO CHARLOTTE ITS WORTH THE RIDE

I was in the er here today, I was at the hospital for a long time in general, but the staff that handled me was AMAZING. my nurse crystal was incredibly kid and caring. As well as my doctor and the woman who gave me my ultra sound. I felt like they actually cared about me and were concerned just as much as I was and ready to help as much as they could, and they did just that .

After waiting in er for two hours I went up to the whole gaggle of nursing dept employees laughing and making small talk and said cut my wrist band off I'm going to kings mtn where they see you quicker. They didn't even register my health insurance stuff yet. I told that one registration chick this place is slow and she laughed and said yes it is, like it was a badge of honor. So if you want to die then go to caromont. If you want to live go to kings mtn. If they send me a bill for taking only my vitals I will be pissed off.

I will never in my life come back to this place!!! Came in throwing up, sick as a dog. Told the ER Dr that it may be cysts and I need a vaginal ultrasound. Instead of an ultrasound he does a CAT scan, SAW THE LARGE CYSTS ON MY OVARIES, feeds me fentanyl through my IV, and sent me home with narcotics instead of performing the necessary surgery to have the cysts removed. Luckily I was smart enough to go to Charlotte because the cysts caused my ovary to flip and lost all oxygenated blood and was at risk of LOSING MY ENTIRE RIGHT OVARY!!!! This place is a disgrace and the staff is extremely rude. If you want real care just go to Charlotte, you may have to wait but at least you'll get the care you deserve as a human being.

While some portions of this hospital provide quality care, their Emergency Department is terrible. I don't know enough about the medical industry to know if it is standard for it to be basically contracted out to a third party corporation but it is the case here, and it shows. I have been forced to go there a handful of times for family and each time it is very disappointing in nearly all aspects. You will be led through various nice looking areas only to end up in an area that looks like it is either from 40 years ago or a third world country. Some people there seem to care some, but are clearly overworked, other staff seem like they would be more accustomed to veterinarian services as they think of the patients as cattle not human beings. If you can at all, go outside of Gaston County for healthcare and hope that perhaps this hospital will start to care more about being a healthcare provider for this area and not be held to a third party corporations profit incentives. Truly a shining example of the horrible healthcare companies provide in pursuit of making the most money possible. And trust me, they might not give you worldclass healthcare but they will certainly price it as if it were, even with insurance.

i took my son to this hospital tonight.

i took my son to this hospital tonight.
he got into a bottle of children's benadrol.
out of the 9 hour stay , the staff checked his heart rate 3 times.
they hooked monitors on his chest for 5 min, then my son ripped them off and it was to tiring for the nurses to keep them on a 3 year old. i called the nurse button 4 and 5 times before i ask for discharge papers because they wasn't doing anything. the doctor said we cant leave because he is a child. when the 9 hours was up, they wanted to take his temp and see his heart rate, i told them this was the 3 time and he was not being monitored. they got paid for me to monitor my son and brought a social worker in the room , she said she has to report this to child services. the reason for this review is to inform people if you wanna die this hopsital for you. if you wanna get yelled for them not getting a armband. the most disrespectful and worst hospital. gastonia finest...

My mother called her doctor this past Friday when ...

My mother called her doctor this past Friday when she began running a fever and having a lot of pain after having a kidney stone surgically removed and a stint put in the Monday before. Her doctor told her to go to the ER here. Though she was there for over 5 hrs, everyone was kind except one ER doctor...a woman named Dr Patel. She was very rude to my mother. And in a braggadocious way, told her that she had 8 yrs of medical school and that her expertise was treating life-threatening injuries. She made my mom feel that her case was minor and not worth her time. Mom told the Dr she'd had a stint years ago after a kidney stone and it never hurt like this or caused a fever. This Dr told my mother that she too had had kidney stones and you just have to learn to suck it up, and that there was nothing wrong with her (though mom's kidney stone had been removed days ago). Later, a nurse came in with a bag of antibiotics to give her through an IV. When she asked why the nurse said she had a UTI, and a bad one at that! The Dr never bothered to admit she was wrong or apologize for her rude behavior. My mom is not one to complain. In fact, she would not have gone to the ER had she not been directed to by her own doctor.

The next day mom was talking to her brother about the ordeal and discovered that his wife had a horrible experience before at this hospital with THE SAME DR PATEL! They said she was also rude to them, and that they caught her making several mistakes during his wife's stay.

I'm certain that if I know two people this doctor has treated in this manner, then there are more. If you must go here avoid this doctor!

I've been here since 4pm and its now 11:15pm. I've only been in the waiting room this whole time. I haven't been taken back. All I've had done is blood work. People who came in by ambulance had to wait in that waiting room before getting seen. This is the slowest place I've been. There's no need to be this slow. People are getting so upset they are leaving to go else where. This isn't how you treat people who need to be seen. There's no need for this type of behavior. I've had better experiences here then this. This is my far the worse time I've been here. The only.other time before this that was bad was when I was having a mission carriage. I literally had my miss carriage or was starting to have it on the waiting room. And yes they knew I was pregnant because I had came in earlier that day for some bleeding. They was very nice to me about my loss however I waited for 5 hours before getting a room. By then it was to late for them to do anything. A total of 7 hours I was here and they didnt do anything for me. The doctor didnt even make sure I was fully awake to tell me I was loosing the baby. It wasn't until I was getting discharged the nurse said "I could try again in a few months". My friend had to tell me I lost my child.

I recently visited the Caromont Regional ER in My Holly, at 3am for intensive coughing due to viral bronchitis. Many, many aspects were outstanding!!

However, I advised the nurses upon arrival that I was hearing impaired and was even without one of my two hearing aids, and asked them to share the information with the team. But it either wasn't shared or it was ignored. I've asked Caromont Health to upgrade it's hearing impaired policies and protocols many times; it appears nothing has been done.

I'ma very regular patient in the Caromont system. There is not reason I have to ask everyone I meet to get my attention, to speak up and to look directly at me when they speak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care to be addressed as "Mr. Brown", but in this situation, it's practical. But one nurse just stuck her head through the doorway and started talk at me. I was have asleep. She did not attempt to get my attention first regarding if I was hearing impaired or have asleep - how rude!! The first nurse to take my blood, at least said, "Hi, I'm here to take you blood." When she was unable to get a go stick, a second nurse just walk in and started working; she never spoke to me at all. How rude!!!

It's not like we were in the main ER where everyone is very busy, I might have been the only patient in the ER at the time.

STEP IT UP CAROMONT!!!!!!!!

Not very pleasant Hospital staff, denied us access to room to assist our clients bedside during 2nd stage with a variety of unknown so called rules 3 people only, no entry, no re-entry, Their antiquated rules also refuse clients right to photograph or have a photographer photograph their own birth experience and capture precious moments directly after. If you plan to use a Doula to support you and value birth photography this is not the birth place for you.

If you want to die in peace go to the ER here. No one will bother you!!! This is the worse care I ever witnessed. The social worker Kevin Banks is beyond rude and heartless. I would rather get nails placed under my finger nails then try to compassion from Kevin or anyone there. It would be less painful. My mother was there and we are lucky to have her despite all efforts from staff to avoid any work or give care. If all possible stay away unless you really want a just go in peace they can do that for you!!

I came to help a friend be seen. His name was Mr. Mayne. The ER nurse that helped while in the ER room was exceptional!

I lost her name but she was kind, respectful and very attentive to Mr. Mayne's needs. Especially considering most staff know him as an alcoholic. The reason for his visit was to attempt to get help from Pheonix Counseling to ensure his continued sobriety.

I would love to commend this nurse on her level of professionalism and obvious acceptance of others no matter what their circumstances are.

Thank you for showing that the hospital has a considerate, hospitable and knowledgeable employee on staff.

We will never set foot in this place again. I kee...

We will never set foot in this place again. I keep seeing these CaroMont commercials on TV about how much they care for their patients and that was NOT our experience. My husband was there last year in ICU with head injury. The accident happened in Gastonia. It took the ambulance 20 minutes to arrive on the scene and it occurred 2 miles from the hospital. From the moment I set foot in the ER until he was discharged it was the worst experience we've ever had. Drove an hour from our home to the hospital. After arriving in the ER I was taken to a smaller waiting room and sat waiting for over an hour and a half with no word on his condition. The chaplain was the first person to come in, which was beyond scary. She said it was standard procedure and told us all she knew was he was alive. She stated the ER was understaffed and very busy. Comforting. Then from that point on there were HIPAA violations, nearly giving my husband the wrong medicine twice and laughing it off "oops wrong patient", to having him pull out his IVs and wake up intubated and they not even notice his IVs were out, until we got there late one night to help calm him down. AIDET must not exist because it was rare someone would introduce themselves when they were in his room or offer information while we sat day in and day out in the ICU with him. There was no caring or compassion for our family as we dealt with this. We have good insurance and had a small balance and come to find out their 3rd party billing company charges interest to make payments. Atrium Health and Novant BOTH have interest free payment plans, but this small facility doesn't? And then just last month, I received another small bill from the day of his discharge, over 15 months ago, which I paid, but really 15 months ago?!! I've never seen such incompetence, lack of communication and compassion in my life, and I have worked in healthcare for 20 years. Just writing this review upsets me, but those ridiculous commercials have inspired me to write this review. I will say that Sarah, an ICU nurse we had for 3 days straight and Dr. Harley, deserve 5 stars! They both were the only saving grace to our experience. Sarah took VERY good care of my husband and even though he was unconscious, she treated him like a person, not a body in a bed, and he responded very positively to her. Dr. Harley was also very kind, compassionate and didn't just ignore you if you were in the room. Since then my husband and I have both been patients at Novant and Atrium and the knowledge, care and compassion we experienced there was off the charts compared to this place. I mailed the hospital complaint letters but never got a response. I should have complained to my insurance company or NCDHHS, but I just wanted to forget this entire experience ever happened. The accident/injuries were traumatic enough, but this place just took it to whole new level.

Re:Billing

Re:Billing
I went to have a MRI and CAT scan done on 8-5-2016. I was charged 500 at the time of the scan. Then I got another bill for 130. So I questioned my provider of health care. I learn that they should have only billed me 130 period. So I called them, and asked why I have 130$ bill, when I paid 500. They then realized I have a credit now for the difference. I asked for a refund, they said well you have a bill from pain management (20$ max) pending we will refund that after the insurance covers it. I hated that idea, that was a month ago.....Guess what I got in the mail again.....the bill again for the 130 $ ....

My point is they LOVE TO OVER CHARGE people. Double and triple check your payments. Dont fall for the ooo we will give it to you later crap...its you money they are holding... :/

Re:Treatment
LIke many many many others that posted here. I went to the ER on 5/29/2016....After waiting many hours,I was given an xray and ingored. After about 3 hours,I and my mother hobbled out of there....only to be stopped by a nurse demanding I sigh a form saying leaving agest medical advice....I quickly shoot back, what advice? I havent been seen by a dr,just a nurse who took my info. Then a Dr comes over and informs me ,well we had 3 people that nearly died. Mind you I was waiting in a bay right by where he was on the computer a good 2 hours of my 3 there. LIED right to our faces ....it seemed slow,no emergancy calls,no one moving with haste ....Nurses station was in sight....THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR patience. Last note I did ask for a patient advocate during the wait, and was told none were available...no phone number for one was offered ,at this point is when we gave up..... so folks, this ooo tell us what we did wrong,i find hard to swallow.

My fiance checked into Caromont ER at approx 1:30 am, with upper abdominal pains. This was our first time, as we just moved to NC a few months ago from Ohio. Our initial impression of the hospital were excellent. It seems very clean, and the staff was polite. The waiting room had 4 patients waiting to be seen. We know that waiting in the er can take a few hours, but it is now 7:42 am, 6 HOURS LATER. This is absolutely unacceptable. My fiance has been sitting for 6 hours quietly sobbing because of the pain and frustration. Does Caromont even have Drs on staff? The facility and staff are great,. It the wait times for an er that wasn't busy is absolutely atrocious and unacceptable. We will not be visiting Caromont again if we can help it. I will update this post for the full wait time, as my fiance is still sitting and crying in their waiting room.

This is the absolute worst hospital in all of North Carolina. They are unusually rude, unsympathetic, and lack the knowledge you would expect from most hospitals and ERs. The ER department would rather allow someone to die while waiting than actually do their job. It sickens me how horrible they treat people. I am extremely disappointed in this hospital and understand why so many have ranked it so low. If you wish to be treated properly and with respect, keep going to the next hospital because this one will leave you in worst shape than you were before. Be prepared to wait outside and be treated as though your injuries or ailments aren't serious and have a charge nurse diagnose you before even examining you. I would not be surprised if they have a few malpractice suits against them soon. It's unbelievable how awful they are.

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and woke up in pelvic pain, bleeding a lot, Saturday morning. My husband rushed me to the ER. When I arrived, there were several groups of ER workers standing around, joking, laughing, being very loud and boisterous. After waiting a couple minutes, one of them turned to me and loudly asked what I was there for. I told her I was pregnant and woke up bleeding and in pain. She repeated my words back to me loudly, for everyone to hear, then directed me to stand next to a small sign and wait for someone to help me. The lady who checked me in was efficient, but very cold in demeanor. The triage nurse was more interested in asking about my tattoos than my condition. I was then told to stand at the small sign again while the same registration lady finished registering another person, who she kept laughing and joking with and obviously knew personally. I asked another worker if I could sit down because I was in pain, but I was told to continue standing at the sign until the other patient finished registering so that a nurse could take us to our treatment rooms at the same time rather than making separate trips.

The nurses who took my vitals and took me to my ultrasound were efficient, but not pleasant at all. They hardly said a word to me, aside from "turn this way" or "lift your legs". They spoke amongst themselves socially, laughing and talking about after-work plans, but hardly acknowledged me. It was awkward and uncomfortable, almost like I was just an inanimate object rather than a person. The nurse who drew my blood touched everything surrounding my bed both before and after drawing my blood, never changing gloves, posing a severe risk for cross contamination. Before I left, a nurse came to give me my discharge papers, I was on the phone with my mother, who was hysterical over my condition. I explained to the nurse that I needed a few moments to finish my phone call, because my mother was very upset and suffers from a heart condition, so I needed to finish explaining my situation and calm her down. Rather than giving me privacy, the nurse stood inside the now-open door to my room, arms crossed, foot tapping impatiently, and within a few seconds, asked me to hurry up because I was being discharged and needed to get dressed. I was shocked and hurt by how cold and impatient she was.

The doctor had a much more pleasant demeanor, but neglected to use lubrication when inserting the speculum, which caused a great deal of discomfort. He forgot to do a second swab a nurse reminded him about, so he simply wiped the first swab onto the second swab and said that would be sufficient. After my ultrasound, I was told he would be in with results in 30 min or less... well over an hour later, he came in and explained I'd had a threatened miscarriage but both fetuses still had heartbeats, told me to follow-up with my OB, and didn't leave time for me to ask any questions about my test results or prognosis. I've had to do my own research in the meantime while waiting for my OB office to open on Monday.

My husband was never acknowldged, except to be told he couldn't come with me to the ultrasound room where they would see if our babies still had heartbeats. The ultrasound tech was so very cold to both of us. I was having a panic attack, crying and hyperventilating as she took me away from my husband. She never offered a kind word or look, just simply stated "If you aren't going to be able to do this by yourself, you can just not do it" and then stood back and looked at me sternly until I pulled myself together. I was so hurt, scared, and devastated by her total lack of empathy.

Overall, this was the worst hospital experience I've ever had. I was scared and in pain, and I was never treated with an ounce of empathy from the staff. Their complete lack of compassion and professionalism totally shocked me. If I ever need hospital care again, I will certainly make the extra drive to Shelby or Belmont to a hospital where I will hopefully be treated like a human being.

They took x rays and them discharged me right away without telling me what may be wrong I asked them since they refused to give me something for can could they at least wrap my hand up. But didn't do that either. My hand is still in alot of pain and I still don't know what's wrong with it. Smh.

The woman made a smart comment and almost made me slap the hell out of her. I am here because earlier today they gave me medicine and apparently you aren t supposed to take it while your pregnant. I would leave but that s not an option right now. The woman stated that it s not that important as to the other people they have been sending back. I rate this hospital with a 0!!!! The service here is terrible. Said patient was admitted Friday with bleeding from the rectum. A CT scan was done soon after admission. Nothing was discovered at that point to diagnose the bleeding. It is now Monday and the GI Specialist that has been coming since arrival has not seen this gentleman. No sense of urgency at all. The nurse in duty when called for an update was heard saying take a message I will call when I get back from lunch. SMH!!!

Absolutely the WORST emergency room in the entire ...

Absolutely the WORST emergency room in the entire southeastern USA. My son sat in the waiting room for 7 hours and was totally ignored. Left there at 6:00 AM on New Years Day (2015) and went into Charlotte to another Emergency Room where he was seen, treated and admitted to the hospital within 2 hours ... he even had something to eat.

During the wait at Gaston Memorial aka CaroMont Regional, there was a woman who had been there for eight hours who had suffered at least six seizures and she was ignored.

A man who was very inebriated had bloody vomitis on the entry area to the ER where the "staff" had just thrown a towel onto the vomit and ignored it. Housekeeping should have been called to thoroughly clean and sanitize the area since that would be a biohazard.

Now they have the audacity to bill my son for care he never received? I don't think so! I even wonder whether the hospital has the proper accreditation. Certainly if you are going to have an ER it should be properly run and staffed regardless of the time of the year.

Okay so today I went to the hospital because I'm pregnant and I've had a persistent fever since this past Saturday. So after waiting about 2 hours we go back to another waiting room (which is to be expected), so we go back and I get seen by a male doctor, he was very knowledgeable and was able to quickly identify the cause of the fever. The doctor sends me back out to the waiting room while he checks on my diagnosis and comes back IN the waiting room and tells me what I have. It was the weirdest thing, he practically is speaking so loudly that everyone can hear him and he is telling me that I have a UTI. Which is common in pregnancy, so okay I get it. But then he leaves and a woman behind me turns around and says "I didn't mean to eavesdrop but when I was pregnant I used to get UTI's and the only thing that helped was cranberry juice" I just felt so embarrassed that everyone who was sitting in that waiting room now knew that I had a UTI :(

My husband was admitted through the ER for complications due to acute liver failure May 14, 2016. Everyone that took care of him from the ER to discharge was outstanding with the exception of one nurse who was rude to him on more than one occasion on his last day in SICU.
June 8, he was readmitted by his GI as his health continued to decline quickly and he still was not scheduled for an evaluation with a liver specialist in Charlotte till June 17. His GI called the hospitalist about admitting him and getting him transferred to CMC to be evaluated for a liver transplant within one to two days. Once we were there and it was determined that his kidneys were failing as well, we were told we should just go on home and call in hospice.
Thank God I was there to stand up for my husband or he would be dead now!!! I insisted that they contact the director of the liver center who agreed to take him on transfer. When we got to CMC my husband had less than one week left, he was put on the transplant list on June 15 and transplanted on the 17th.
If your doctors are not capable of treating a patient's condition, then transfer them to another hospital!
From now on, we will go to CMC where their doctors do everything they can to save a patient's life not just send them home to die.

Staff is nice but billing stinks. When I went in for an ultrasound the office staff made me think that they had already spoken with with insurance company and then told me my copay would be $520 so I paid it, now come to find out I only needed to pay $52, my insurance paid the rest! Now I have to wait on a refund!! Very frustrated!

The staff failed tremendously to keep me informed, but they did a great job keeping up with their own personal side conversations. I was there for two+ hours, most of my time was spent waiting for I don't know what I was waiting for. I gave my name and birth date to six different people in 5 different rooms. It was like being in a computer game fighting to get to the next level. All this for a dog bite on my right calf. I could only imagine how someone with Covid19 would be treated. The doctor was nice, the gold star is for him.

I had went in with a possible torn meniscus. I was told with a blank stare and cold tone by Dr Cramp that she was a medical doctor that treated bones not an ortho specialist. Gave me an x-ray because she couldn't find it in the system where my doctors office had given me one. Gave me no helpful care on how to take care of my injury after going home. No one ever asked my pain level. I have to say I have learned my lesson. I must give my two autistic children a lesser quality of life so that I can get better care and pay for expensive insurance so I get good enough care to keep taking care of them. Thank you Dr. Cramp you have been a real eye opener today!

I took my son to Caramont ER because he was jaundiced. They took him right in and took blood to test and his diagnosis was Cirrossis of Liver due to alcohol. My son was 36 yrs old and died 52 days later in Post ICU. He had been admitted 4 times and during each admission he was treated with such care and empathy. The staff were wonderful to him and me. I could not have asked for any better care for my dying son. Even the day he died the staff consoled us and helped us take care of details. Wonderful and caring hospital!

I'm giving this experience 1 star!!! My mammogram was not conclusive this time. I received a letter to contact one of the facilities. So, I chose Summitt Crossing at GMH. I don't ever want to go back there. I went 2x!!! Both times were not great. It's bad enough wondering and worrying about what's wrong with you. But the experience made it even worse. I wondered if it's just this department? Were people in a bad mood? Are people mistreated or not paid enough. I don't know, but that was it for me. I will request another facility next time. Or, I will start going to Novant. I read the other reviews, it's either great or not good at all. Why is that??? I hope writing this makes a difference! I would think due to the fact that the findings could mean breast cancer that the staff you are dealing with would be sympathetic. That was not my experience. And the findings were positive for me! I should have left feeling good. Instead I felt, like cattle and the person that did the ultra sound seemed nervous, unsure, uncomfortable. She took a long time, which is probably good. But she didn't explain anything. It was so distant. Bordering unprofessional. I hope no one else goes through that. I know that I won't. If GMH is rating themselves at the top for service - they were not talking about this department!!!!

Emergency: arising from or needed or used in an em...

Emergency: arising from or needed or used in an emergency.
modifier noun: emergency
"an emergency exit"
synonyms: urgent, crisis; More
a person with a medical condition requiring immediate treatment.

This is the definition of "emergency" I suggest people who works there should learn it.

my girl went into emergency at 7:30 PM I was coming in behind her, she got admitted to the back and prepped for xray because of the pain she was in, but then something happened she came back out in front where I joined her I don't know why which I tried to find out, no one could tell me, my girl was not in good shape, skin was so white, and pale, soaked in sweat and her back was killing her, so we waited, for a loooong time, we didn't get admitted until 4:30 am in the morning the next day, found out she had kidney stone, most people that was in emergency room got up and left and people who did come in got admitted right away, now I find it odd that a guy with a sniffle is more concerning than the girl who is sweating and pale and screaming pain also they kept moving people in front of her, at first it was 3 people was in front of her and after an hour, it was 6 people in front of her, plus guy at the front desk had a cocky attitude also seeing a lot of nurse walking around laughing and playing around which I thought that's not right. Overall this hospital is a JOKE bring a tent if you have an emergency after that, they will never see us and I will encourage everyone to stay away from this hospital, go to Charlotte or mount holly anywhere really but gaston memorial if gaston has a problem with my comment you got my name, I'm in the book, Gaston memorial hospital is the SHITTIEST hospital on this earth.

Over the last two years I have become familiar wit...

Over the last two years I have become familiar with area hospitals. My wife was struck by a car and spent 4 weeks at CMC main, then another 3 weeks at the rehab in Mt Holly. As a result of a severe kidney infection from an untold number of catheterizations she then had to spend a little over a week at CMC Pineville. Unfortunately an un-obstructing kidney stone shifted and has caused her another very serious kidney infection and a early morning ER visit.

5:30am seems like a good time to have an emergency, they brought her right in - however the positive experience ends there. From it taking two nurses 3 attempts each to draw blood, sticking her over and over to me having to suggest that they take a urine sample and do something about addressing her extreme fever and obvious pain. Everyone just seemed confused and disorganized...and there were almost no other patients in the ER at the time. As stated I understand that things take time in hospitals, you just have to be prepared to wait, and then wait some more. However when the nursing staff is CONSISTENTLY late with scheduled pain medication and simple Tylenol to combat fever then there is a problem. By late I mean 1-1.5 hrs and after reminders from me. Watching a loved one writhing in pain while a shockingly rude caretaker list all the challenges she is having that day instead of simply going to get the medication she said she would bring an hour ago is beyond unprofessional.
I have tremendous respect for nurses and the nursing profession and have nurses in the family and that are close friends...have heard the horrible stories about the treatment they endure at the hands of patients and their families and go out of our way to be as little trouble as possible. So to be on the receiving end of the rude, unprofessional and uncaring treatment others have described receiving here is frankly surprising. The fact that the attitude has been present in the majority of the nurses and techs we've been in contact with, over all the shifts (admittedly only 2 days so far) suggests that there is something seriously wrong with the employee culture here at Caro Mont.
Sorry for the wall of text, but it all boils down to this: If your life is not in eminent danger do yourself or your loved ones a favor and take them to a different hospital, I realize people don't stop to read hospital reviews in an emergency - although I really wish I had.

*Edit - Update*
Although this review received a response from someone at the hospital and was helpful enough to leave a number to call so that I could discuss our experience, I have not been able to reach anyone at the number. The phone number/voice mail is for a man claiming to be the patient experience manager (I believe was the phrasing) however I have left three messages on three separate occasions (different times of day) and never received a call back. Perhaps the hospital responds to negative reviews online and directs folks to a non existent patient experience manager and it's a simply a voicemail they empty regularly all in an effort to seem caring and responsive. Maybe this manager does exist and is just too busy with all the complaints he was unable to return severalcalls, in the end I can't really say because I've never actually spoken to someone from the hospital.
Anyway just thought I would update people that manage to read my endless rambling - I sincerely hope that if I haven't dissuaded you, that your experience is far better than ours.

This is outrageous ....worst provider ever ...the pediatric ER did not know there was people in there waiting room waiting to be serviced...they are just standing in their laughing and joking for past 20 minutes.....my mom and sisters are nurses so i know about a nurses life at work but this is outrageous...when questioned they first said they didn't have rooms ....till I said that people had just walked out of the one room then..... they said oh well we are trying to figure out who is in the waiting room ...I asked for a patient liason and was given the run around.....they are a sad excuse for a hospital ...no wonder the other reviews say what they do that this hospital is bad. I have watched them fill a syringe with meds for a child and then spent 10 minutes joking around and playing around while that sick child waits on their lazy incompetent work ethic. Bet if it was their child they would be in there immediately giving them that medicine.

I initially had a great experience in the birth place with wonderful nurse and staff. However, I expressed my concern on discharge about my high blood pressure, but the concern was waved off by my practices midwife.
A week later, I woke up in the middle of the night with the worst headache I ever had. My husband took my to the urgent care who sent to the ER. They CALLED AHEAD to tell them my symptoms and express the urgency with which I needed to be seen. (However, I have been told since that when medical personnel from doctor s offices call ahead about a sick patient they are told all the patients are sick. )

The death squad that Gaston Memorial calls a triage department, let me sit in the ER for FOUR HOURS. They were confused by the answers to some of my question (why haven t you had a period for 9 months? I said, do you see the baby? I made that. ) I was post partum, with high blood pressure, had gone blind, and had a severe headache. All MAJOR tell tell signs of preeclampsia.

I was finally taken back to be seen by a wonderful doctor. She had a great bedside manner and was very caring. She immediately knew it was one of two options. While I continued to wait for a CAT scan, I enjoyed hearing another doctor have an extremely loud conversation about some trip he had been on....guess that why I had to wait four hours.

I finally was headed back for my CAT scan when I had a eclampic seizure. I woke up 12 hours later to a doctor from my practice that said they should have sent me home on blood pressure medicine. Gee, thanks.

I was unable to read and had visual disturbances (I saw four noses on my newborn s face) for several weeks. Because the triage department was not properly trained and my caromont obgyn practice did not properly diagnose me (dispite my expressed concerns throughout pregnancy), I had a long drawn out recovery, some of which I m still dealing with to this day. That s not to mention the massive medical bills.

If you can survive the triage department, you should be ok....best to drive to King s Mountain, though, to be on the safe side.

My wife recently went in for a mental illness break of sorts. From the ER staff to the mental health floor they provided the care she needed to get stabilized. The mental health procedures are nerve racking and very strict, but considering the wide range of patients they receive the procedures are there for a reason. By far the doctors and nurses truly changed my wife's life and for that I am very thankful!

If I could it'll be a 0!!

If I could it'll be a 0!!
I went to this hospital when I was 23 weeks pregnant because I had been having leakage and wanted to get if it was just normal pregnancy wetness or something to be worried about. I waited 30 mins before even being taken up to the maternity ward. Then when I got to a room the nurse(wish I could remember her name) was really rude. She asked why I came to the hospital instead of driving to Charlotte. Mind you it was 2 in the morning. Anyway she proceeded to be rube with her questioning. After she swabbed me for a test to determine if it were in fact amniotic fluid. She sent the test and no longer than 15 I was told it wasn't amniotic fluid. She never checked me, nor did she do an ultrasound. Which is really important when dealing that far along in a pregnancy. But because she told me the test was negative for amniotic fluid I trusted what I was told. Long story short 3 days later I was I had more and more leakage along with pain in my abdomen which I thought was me having to use the bathroom. That night had a gush and this time it was blood. Of course I'm not dumb enough to go to this hospital again, I drove to Charlotte 1 in the am. They saw me immediately and I was checked and an ultrasound was done. I was told that my baby was in my canal and breech. I had an emergency csection at 24 weeks at 2 am to a baby boy 1 lb 8.3 oz. Things could have been avoided or at least I would have been informed on my situation if they would have done their job. You know instead of being rude as hell!!! I will never ever go to this place again.
