I put off writing my review, as I do not like to leave bad ones unless I feel very strongly, and in this case I do. We purchased our vehicle (a used 2005 Ford Freestar) last year. Everyone was very helpful, and very friendly. When we took it home we realized that it was acting funny, before even looking at the vehicle the mechanic said it was more than likely the catalytic converter, and thankfully replaced it at no cost to us. We were told that exhausts are checked when inspecting vehicles, and that is why it wasn t fixed before purchase. But, since they replaced it and saved us the money and hassle, we were fine. This is where my good review stops.
We have had the vehicle in and out of shops 3 times. We have had it a year, and have only been able to drive it for about 3-4 months out of that year, because the check engine light was always on, and the smell of exhaust fumes were ridiculous.
We purchased a year warranty for the vehicle, however it s $100 each time they look at the vehicle, and that s no guarantee they will fix what s wrong because it might not be covered. We took it to our own mechanic, who only charged us $40, and told us all the problems were in the exhaust, which of course wasn t covered by the warranty we purchased, and issues were not fixed or were made worse when the catalytic converter was replaced. Also, with these exhaust issues the vehicle will not pass state inspection, so I m not sure how it past the inspection to be sold with the issues.
I have three children and told the sales associate that I needed a reliable vehicle. I know that any used vehicle is bound to have issues, but we figured that buying it from a dealer, that we d have less to deal with, plus a warranty. But, in this case, we were wrong. Needless to say that I felt and still feel very taking advantage of by Pearson Masada. I even wrote to the person who sold us the vehicle, and explained my situation, and never got a response, but he had the nerve to ask me for a review, and now he got one.
I would not recommend Pearson Mazda to anyone, at least for used vehicles.
