Stay away from the service department here! The EC...

Stay away from the service department here! The ECU in my Mazda Miata had gone bad, so I decided to buy a gently used one online. I scheduled an appointment, asking them to replace and reprogram it (which they said they could do), and brought in my car, but they called me later on and said the ECU I had brought in was for a Miata with an automatic transmission and mine was manual. I asked them to put the old one back in, picked up my car and paid the labor.

Next time, I made sure to buy an ECU for a manual transmission. I made another appointment and dropped it off. This time they phoned me and said I would need the immobilizer from the same car the ECU came from or it would not work. The first ECU I brought in did not have an immobilizer with it and it was NOT made clear to me that I would need it. I was charged significantly more for the labor this time and a snide woman behind one of the desks said I was "lucky it [wasn't] more". If the service department could see clearly that I did not have an immobilizer, why did they bother working on it at all?

When I asked the manager for a phone number to call so I could make my complaint known, he only recommended that I visit the Facebook page. DO NOT take your car here to be serviced! The staff are unprofessional and unskilled at communication and customer satisfaction. If you don't believe me, scroll down and see the other reviews from people who brought their cars in to be serviced.

And Mazda, don't bother apologizing because you never did in person, not once.
