There are so many wonderful things about this resort, the grounds are beautifully maintained; the pool area is large and there is a pool cabana that sells food and drinks; there are plenty of amenities to keep you busy such as: bikes to rent, kayaks, paddle boards, and putting greens. There are enough restraunts to accommodate all of the guests on property and they even offer pizza delivery to your room!
The cons are as follows: the hot tub was luke warm; we had dinner at Barefoot Bar and lounge and there was a lot of riff raff. The table next to us was playing there own music loudly and it had a lot of profane words which was not ideal considering our children are 5 and under. The pool bathrooms were never cleaned and one of the employees (who was standing around) thanked me for picking up various towels and bringing them to her dirty laundry pile. Lastly, we were supposed to be able to check in by 4:00 and the woman at the front desk was supposed to text us when our room was ready however, she never messaged us and we were not able to get into our room until after 5.

Don't waste your time or money at this resort. The staff could care less to accomadate you. It seems like an awesome place to stay until you get there and realize it's not all that it's cracked up to be. They claim their pool is heated to More

Paradise point is a scam. The rate u pay doesn't reflect the 70.00 per night that they attach to your room for resort fees and parking. Resort is being torn apart right now and they want top dollar. Also room service will if paid in cash will still be added to your room as an extra charge. Used to love coming to this place but the new management has been less than friendly or accommodating. Overpriced and very rude. I don't think I will ever go back

I was there for a while week for a conference, and it felt like an oasis. Yes, that also means that it was a bit out of the way, but if you are looking for a true beachy bungalow experience, this is your place. The amenities (pools, restaurants, ready access to the beach with fire rings, which can be reserved, water sport rentals) are so amazing that you won't want to leave!

Great experience. Resort is beautiful so many things to do onsite. Staff is great we received free parking when I mentioned it was our 5 year anniversary. We arrived early to use the pool and to our surprise a room was ready for us. Had a great dinner with a beautiful sunset on the water at once of their restaurants and in room delivery in the morning and ate on our patio while looking at the bay. Had a bonfire and smores at night after dinner. I downloaded the Alice app and did, the food ordering and checkout via the app which was very convenient.

The overall experience with the hotel was okay, except the extremely loud ACs in the rooms that sounded like plane engines the whole time they were on. Otherwise, the location is superb; with manny trees that would make u feel like you are in the jungle!! Shortly, San Diego is an astonishing city to me..with white sandy beaches

Probably the only time I was excited to come back to a resort was to this one.
The unique private island cottage rooms experience with modern designed rooms and a shuttle to transport u to Anywhere around the resort was useful.
They are part of a special app called alice that let's u call room service and other features that I recommend to download.
I recommend getting a beach side room and buying a cheap grill and make a bbq and roast marshmallows
Highly recommended

The grounds are amazing, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is pretty much perfect if you want to enjoy the beach. The room itself was plenty nice enough, without being mind blowing. The only downside is that the food options could use some improvements. They're not exactly bad, but there are better options off site. The convenience of being within walking distance is about the only real highlight of the dining experience.

We had a great time at the pool but the hotel really lacked the amenities that made this place special and it s sad because I loved this place and wish my family could have experienced what I did when I stayed here previously. I was really annoyed I wasn t informed bell staff wasn t working during our stay. That was big! Both rooms had major issues and the bedding smelt stale as if they bedding had been there since before the pandemic. They tried but they definitely should have delayed their opening date till they were ready to re open.

Didn't realize how full of families it would be, and our "garden view" was two Adirondacks placed directly behind a hedge, right next to a busy family pool. Not the ideal place to relax and have a quiet getaway, but would probably be a good destination post-pandemic to take advantage of resort amenities.

Paradise Point and Resort is a great place with beautiful landscaping and plenty of amenities. The gym is nice and the 2 restaurants I went to were great. The conference center is very nice with a great outdoor boardwalk for breaks.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Alyx in particular at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay special.

I was here for 6 days for a business conference and an extension to spend time with my fiancee who joined me on day #4. She loved it also.

Paradise point is a beautiful hotel. there's lots of different things to do there. The spa is wonderful. Though I haven't been to the spa since they've done their remodel, I can say that I only imagine that it's gotten better. The service is and people that work there are phenomenal.the landscape of the hotel itself is gorgeous. There is a duck pond where you can feed the ducks and a tower underwater that you can walk to the top of and get a view the promises. The hotel is also right across the street from the bay. At the bay, you can have a bonfire barbecue or ride jet skis. I've never had a bad experience at Paradise point. Overall, I would say that anyone, on any type of vacation (business, family, romantic, etc,) would have a good time there!

How did I do this? I think when a family of five stayed there for 2 nights, the total of payment was $250 on summer? It's expensive for the resort, but looking horrible, that's no good when coming from Los Angeles in the car of a road trip. Five people of family will never stay there again. Next time on this, you can go to Seaworld San Diego or stay at the resort in the Clark county, NV!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Southampton Fairmont in Bermuda. That was a wonderful hotel, as all Fairmont's seem to be... BUT the Grand Del Mar is an even higher level!! It was simply the most impressive hotel we have ever had the pleasure to stay at! From the moment we drove up, every person at the hotel provided exceptional service, check in, to check out!! As members of Fairmont's Presidents Club, we did receive a room upgrade, which truly made this stay special. The occasion of the stay was a milestone birthday for myself, and the room quality, the food, the service, the decorations and the beautiful grounds truly made for a memorable stay... Thank you, Fairmont!! We will be back!!

A hidden paradise in mission Bay Area. We love this place, very peaceful and well kept! When you drive into the property, we felt you are in Hawaii, very nice property, room are all remodeled and very modern inside. Very room has a patio and some even have bay front beach and fire pits right in front of your room. Very quiet and exclusive feeling when you stay here.

Went here for a company sponsored event. Was in the sunset pavilion which is a tented area. The ambience was nice but it did have poor acoustics. Sound system was being glitchy too. Overall the space was beautiful, overlooking the ocean.

Nice property. Good selection of bars/restaurants on site (although one was closed for remodel). Didn't love being in an adjoining room next to a crying baby or the lady who played bagpipes every night. You can hear a lot through the room's walls.

During my stay, COVID -19 pandemic still on and infecting and this place made me feel like I was away from it. Everyone maintained at distance and respected others distance's as well. You have your own entrance and parking spot nearby your room. They were was multiple pools, which none were ever over crowded and everything was at walking distance. I would definitely come back again <3

THE GOOD

THE GOOD
- Excellent location. It seemed that everything we wanted to do was only 10-15 min away
- The interior of the rooms are fairly updated and modern. We had a suite which had a nice sitting area. But the exterior of the rooms are very dated.

THE BAD
- We were greeted by Veronica at the front desk who did not smile once. When she took my husband s credit card and gave it back, she did not even say thank you or smile. Then she told us where our room was and gave us a map. When I asked her where on the map our room was, she said, The bellman can tell you that. Ummmm, EXCUSE ME?! I have NEVER had the front desk clerk NOT tell me where my room was. I wans t asking for driving directions on how to get there, simply where on the map it was. She was so rude and unfriendly. And this is the first face of the hotel that we saw. Certainly not the first impression a hotel wants to make.
- $38/night parking fee. Are you kidding me?! Everyone drove here and we already spent a fair amount of money on the rooms. They were really nickel and diming us.
- The hotel bungalows are very dated looking. Not what I was expecting for such pricey rooms.
- The housekeepers certainly left something to be desired. It took them THREE DAYS to finally wipe down the kitchenette area.
- The staff as a whole was extremely unfriendly. In the 5 days we spent there, very few of the staff members that we crossed paths with even smiled or said hello to us in passing. Even when we literally walked right in front of the bellman, he completely ignored us. It was certainly a strange, cold atmosphere.
- When I went for a massage, the spa was right next to the main pool, so I could hear children screaming throughout my massage. Who builds a spa right next to the pool?! And there were also periods of maintenance where people were banging on the roof of the treatment room. Not the relaxing experience I was expecting.
- On Labor Day, it was very busy, as expected. Barefoot was only one restaurant open at the time, but the wait was over 2 hours for a party of 2. I would have expected the management to anticipate this and open other restaurants early given the holiday crowd. But I was more than happy to spend my money at a restaurant outside the hotel given the experiences we had there.

THE UGLY
- The other guests were so rude and entitled. We had a beach front bungalow. One night we went out to make s mores in the fire pits on the beach. There were multiple not being used. So we went up to one, and another guest comes out of his room stating that he was going to use that pit so we went to another one. There were some chairs by the pit, but no one else around, so we figured we could use the pit. A different guest then comes up to us, telling us that she had been reserving that pit since 2 pm. First of all, THIS IS A PUBLIC BEACH. Simply because you set up your beach chairs there, doesn t mean that the fire pit is yours stop being a spoiled child and learn to share. After a long argument with her, she finally gave up (she also had a gas fire pit that she was using literally right outside of her room). We used the pit for about an hour and left. When we check later in the night from our room, NEITHER OF THE 2 GUESTS THAT TRIED TO KICK US OUT OF THEIR RESERVED FIRE PITS HAD EVEN STARTED A FIRE THAT NIGHT! And, not surprisingly, the rude lady who had been reserving her spot on the beach since 2 pm that day left her chairs on the beach for the next 2 days straight. I was appalled at the selfishness of the other people staying at this hotel.

Location is great, right outside of downtown, 15 minutes from the airport. Rooms are a little dated but in good shape. Came for a conference and the conference center is exceptional. Great service for the event.

Our first time there. Took my family it was a great experience we were bummed that we couldn't get on the boats. But over all it was wonderful. We're definitely coming back we have an anniversary in January so let's see what amenities are available.

Great relaxing romantic getaway! Loved the rooms which are all bungalow style with one main large pool and several smaller ones throughout the resort. Switched to bayside room halfway thru the week and well worth the upgrade of $80 per night to wake up to the awesome water view.

Great vacation!

Nice location. Grounds are well kept. Good for family getaway. I bit over pricey though. Our A/C unit was loud intermittently through the night. Staff had someone check it and said it was fixed. Still the same on the second night.

The grounds are lovely. The amount of pools(5) great.. but, a couple flaws. If you are in a less expensive room, you will be next to or informs or behind others... the walls are paper thin. I can tell you in detail conversations that happened next door.
Service at front desk is wonderful, as well as conference area. But, not so at housekeeping or bar/pool areas.
Housekeeping is just poor. Our room has a layer of dust on top shelf of closet, floors where NEVER mopped the 5 days there. Twice I left a half cup of coffee and it was left for me to take care of. Plus, I am allergic to feather pillows. After getting in late, I dealt with the stuffiness until the next morning. I called and asked for foam pillows. Came back at day end and they had never been delivered. When I called again, the night crew told me they had no idea where these pillows where located! At 6am the next morning, while still in bed a knock on the door and the pillows delivered.
Barefoot bar, caveman pizza and the only pool that has food and drink, service is one speed and it is turtle mode! Each location we went to twice at different times of the day, each time it was very slow.
It is a shame, the food on property is very good at all locations. But, getting a cocktail is next to impossible.

It's a beautiful resort. It feels like you really on an island! I was married here 13 yrs ago, and have spent many anniversaries and other personal holidays here over the years. They could use more upgrades into the 2020 era. They need to do a few updates, but I'm sure now that it's owned by Margaritaville, they will see too it the upgrades and repairs are done. *Just be aware that you will need to spend extra $ to get your vehicle detailed after your stay. My car upon leaving after only 2 days was covered in bird poop and tree sap.

Terrific place to stay with family. Bungalows are spacious and nicely appointed. Great pool area, Barefoot Bar is a must stop for a cocktail and a snack. The Spa is world class, and we come here just for the spa sometimes.

Their reservation system is one the worst I have ever experienced. I called multiples times to make a reservation for my conference. Every time, I received different responses. One said the conference rooms are all booked out! One said I can make two days on conference group rate and rest I have to reserve as open customer and quoted me some outrageous rate. I was totally confused! At first, I thought I was scammed! After several calls, I was able to make a partial reservation and I was told I will receive a confirmation email after 15-20 minutes. After one hour I called back to check on the confirmation, I was told it may be in the Spam folder. It was not there! Then, they said sometime it takes longer to send a confirmation. After 7 hours, I called again, now they said they are closed to check the status. Are you kidding me! What kind of system you are running here! Even the clerk at the cheapest motel can check a reservation status. This is ridiculous! I am wondering what nightmare is waiting for me once I am there! I am seriously considering taking my business to somewhere else!

This resort was probably nice once. But it has aged horribly and maintenance has not kept up. The couch in our room had a stain on one cushion. The rest of the furniture was dingy and dated.

The rooms are all two unit bungalows that take their exterior styling from the public restroom buildings you see in parks. When you're going for a tropical vibe, these don't fit at all.

Overall, there are so many other hotels in this area that are nicer, better kept and a better place to spend your money. You don't need to stay here.

I have been staying at this hotel since I was little and have always loved it. Unfortunately after staying here with my family this past week, I don't know if I'll be coming back. I found this mold in the bathroom while showering. I brought it to the front desks attention. They promised to check the situation within an hour, but after two hours, they had not sent anyone to the room until my boyfriend went to the front desk. The man who came to assess the safety of the mold informed me that this is common and happens all the time. Not something you should stay to retain customers. Very disappointed with the quality of the rooms for the amount they charge.

The place is kind of average. The rooms are nice, but nothing amazing. They look like they have been updated recently, but there is really nothing that makes them stand out. The ridiculous part is all of the extra fees. Be prepared to get nickeled and dimed for everything. Want to play put put? That is included as part of an additional $32 a day fee. The restaurants onsite have really good food at a really high price. There are better places to eat at pacific beach that cost less. You just have to be willing to walk or ride the 1-2 miles to get to them. Cellular service is spotty and the wifi is horrendous. This is a good thing if you want to unplug for the week. A bad thing if you are trying to call home to see how your family is doing.
The staff is really helpful and they drive golf carts around just in case you need a lift across the island.
Other than that, the place is really just like an overpriced hotel with over priced food. There is really nothing to make it stand out.

Deceptive. Grounds are nice and location is great. Rooms are poorly maintained. Our fridge got so hot overnight it literally melted the cheese in it and ruined all our food. Hinges don't work on doors, shelves held up by stacks of washers, the heater /ac unit randomly cycles even when not on and sounds like a small aircraft taking off. Also the resort fee. ..the daily charge so in their words "you don't have to pay for individual activities at a higher rate" covers the swimming pools and walking around. Everything else has a fee. Unless you have money to burn stay elsewhere.

My wife and her sister went to the spa at the resort. Which by the way, they found was an excellent deal since they accept spafinder gift cards. We didn't stay there but we walked the beautiful premises and had lunch there. I wished that I had vacationed here as a kid. There is so much to do! There's mini golf, quad bike rentals, a huge pool area, fish and shark pond, who knows what else we missed! Now that I have a family of my own, this is definitely on the radar for a future family staycation!

Awesome place - the landscaping is just exquisite! We went for the 2018 Bromeliad Society's World Expo. Almost hard to believe that such a paradise of plants & trees is So Close to the hustle-bustle of downtown.
