Guest at a wedding which used Island Point Lawn for the ceremony and Bay View Room for the reception. Everyone involved provided very good service, the food was excellent, and the location provided a spectacular backdrop for the event.

This place is not cheap... prepare for that. That being said, We had a fantastic time. This place may have even gotten 5 stars had the location of our beach front bungalow (pricier suites) was not located directly adjacent to the public parking lot for the beach (which also is public :(...) and our bungalow had an ant problem in the kitchen area (we understand that's a tough battle)... All that aside, we had an awesome time playing in the sand, swimming in the pool, taking rides on the carts from our bungalow to dinners, walking the property, and ordering room service to chill and binge looking out on the water from our patio!!! We had a 7 month old and 3 year old with us and even they thoroughly enjoyed their stay! The staff is top notch kind, accommodating, and pleasant!! We will be back for a fun night staycation again soon!

Lovely space to stay in San Diego to be well taken care of and feel out of the city while still being in it. The grounds are lovely and tropical, room are very nice (especially the beach side bungalows) and you can find a good meal or a solid drink on site.

Not impressed for the price, pay to stay, pay to park, pay for amenities(not sure why it is an extra charge beyond the nights stay) and customer satisfaction does not seam important. clean your beach! that is why people go there

Came here for a work event. They had us in a large tent outside, and while the tent was a well setup venue, it had some problems. The AC units were exceedingly loud and competed with the event speaker. The tent was near the back of the property too and to get to it you had to walk down an alleyway of sorts lined by a loading dock, numerous garbage bins, and staff (not wait staff) moving things around for the day.

Turns out quite an expensive when you add the plus plus for parking and the resort fees. Rooms looking tired. Unless you're a family you're better off spending the equivalent on a nicer hotel. Staff were friendly and location was good.

While ive loved staying here the recent purchase of this property has taken the property from uniquely not california to bend over and lets see how much money we can get from you. Terrible staff, must be q place where people hate their jobs.

Was here 8 years ago and was so impressed then, that I decided to come back. Unfortunately, it has really gone down hill. The room and grounds were poorly maintained. The food at the Barefoot Bar and Grill was sub-par. However, the staff was pleasant and accommodating. Honestly, it seems like they just need new management. I was expecting more from this resort and was disappointed. I won't go back.

I picked Paradise Point due to the lovely grounds and clean rooms.
But the spa was closed due to covid, and the mask requirement was mostly ignored unless people were in the lobby or gift shop.
The main pool seemed overcrowded, people did not observe the social distance rule.
I perceive that the staff was half of its usual number, and overworked.
Everything above the room rate had an extra fee. Parking is charged daily. The room air conditioner was deafening and could not be used. There were no open windows, so I had to keep a door open, which is unacceptable.
The pet fee is $150 and non refundable, even though my dog is cleaner than many people.

The rooms were a decent size, but the bathroom was definitely small and dated. What really got me was the spider infestation happening in my room and bathroom - I think I killed about six of them! Also, be aware that there's a $37 fee for overnight parking, which I thought was a bit crazy. That, plus the "resort fee" added a hefty chunk to my hotel bill. My room overlooked the water, which was nice, although the beach isn't all that impressive. I did like that all restaurants had gluten-free options.

We stay at this resort when we go to San Diego because we love the tropical grounds and the great service that we receive. It is a challenge to go to a hotel during COVID but I think they have done a great job on mitigating risk.

Very nice resort, beautiful location, staff are extremely nice. HOWEVER: the reasons for the 3-star review are:
1- The walls are extremely thin. Rooms are set up as a series of many small buildings throughout the resort with a few units in each. I could hear literally every single thing my neighbors said and did throughout my entire stay. I understand noise is part of the deal when you're in a hotel, but it felt like we were in the same room. Zero privacy.
2- I would have loved to take advantage of the Spa, but the prices were STEEP. $100 for a half hour? Not including tip? No thanks!

I think any place that charges for Internet and extols what a great bargain the charge - here, called a Passport to Paradise resort value program - is, deserves to get skewered when they don't deliver. They assert in a welcoming pamphlet that this, and the use of ping-pong, is a $120 value, so you had better really like ping-pong because you won't get any Internet. We had three days of basically no Internet, either wired or Wi-Fi. I received no help from the thinly staffed front desk and fell considerably behind at work. It also interfered with simple vacation planning since I couldn't Google Map or look up event listings. The resort itself is 44 acres of mildewy concrete block houses built circa 1962 and strung together with a confusing spaghetti of roads. Most of these are attached units, and we could hear quite a lot of noise through the party wall. I think the resort might have some small attraction for families with children of a certain age: there are plenty of pools and the Mission Bay beach is not the least bit challenging. Compared to other San Diego hotels, however, I found it very long in the tooth and remote from places I wanted to to visit. Additionally, the only way around most of the time is to walk in the road, space you and the kids are sharing with cars and golf carts driven at reckless speeds. I found the housekeeping services to be good, and I didn't sample enough of the food or the conference facilities to form an opinion one way or the other about them. 6/30/17: Let me add Response from the Owner seems to actually be written by a bot. I see the same drivel verbatim elsewhere here in relation to completely different criticisms (e.g., "Response from the owner in the last week
Jillian, in regards to the parking and resort fee, we seek to be totally transparent about them as we list them on the website, at time of booking, and in each confirmation..."). The insincerity adds significantly to the impression of lousy customer service and I wouldn't even have noticed it if the bot copypasta hadn't been so besides the point - I never complained about the parking (which is exhorbitant) and never said the charge wasn't transparent, just that it was a charge for something NOT provided. I hereby strip you of a star, Paradise Point bot!!!

The resort is very beautiful. Many pools and places to eat as well as many activities to rent. The rooms were nice. I stayed in a Bayside lanai and it was decent sized. The junior suite next door was amazing. I would stay again.

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend and absolutely regretted it. My husband, myself and our two year old daughter came for a relaxing weekend on the beach and instead we ended up at a 24/7 beach party. Music was BLASTING nonstop and other hotel guests were partying day and night. I understand it was a holiday weekend, but the hotel staff was not strict on their "no party" policy. Other hotel guests brought in their own speakers, subwoofers and strobe lights to set up on the beach. We complained several times. Security would ask them to quiet down and within an hour the music was blasting and our walls were shaking again. They moved us to a different bungalow the second night and by the third night we had had enough and checked out to move to a different hotel. The hotel itself was alright - definitely not worth the price they charge. Rooms are outdated and not very clean. Would not recommend this place for a family with little kids.

Nice hotel, not necessarily anything extra special. The extra $40 per night resort fee and $40 per night parking fee is the main reason for only a 3 star rating. I'm sure there are far nicer places to stay that wont add a bunch of extra fees.

This is a fantastic resort! The view and location on the beach
are amazing. The food is also fantastic. and the staff are extremely friendly. They we're always willing to answer questions and help you to your destination. I would recommend Paradice Point Resort and Spa to anyone visiting San Diego for your next vacation!

Myself and two others were visiting paradise point resort to register for a soccer tournament that was held in the convention room. The registration area was very difficult to find in the dark. Not many lights to illuminate the way. We eventually found the correct area and were able to register on time. Upon us trying to exit we had a nice tour of the grounds as we hopelessly drove the area trying to find a sign.

A beautiful hidden gem in mission Bay Area. Every time when we came to visit this place, we always enjoyed the spacious room and patio area. Walking to the bay in just 1 mins. Great for family gathering and vocations. Restaurants are okay here, rooms and tropical environment is very impressive. Highly recommended!

My family loved this resort. It is very newly renovated! In fact, some areas are still being updated. We booked a room through our credit card rewards site, and upon arrival discovered that the room was not available. Customer service was great and they upgraded us to a water front room. We regretted only having one night there. We will definitely be back, and we'll stay longer next time!

Nice staff, rooms and pools. Liked the mission bay beach since it is clean and relaxed. Theres only 2.5 restaurants and no breakfast. Parking is possible against fee directly at the room....kinda turns the resort into a motel if you ask me...

We got a pool pass for the day. The main pool was really fun. The other pools are all pretty small so we ended up back at the main pool. We ate at Barefoot. The service and good were great.

I was here for a car convention. This was a nice place. Plenty of beaches, and the lagoon warms the water up a bit. Each room is part of a small bungalow. The banquet rooms are mostly right on the water.

I just returned from a 9 day stay here. I was there for a conference and then stayed 4 extra days for vacation.

Now, I LOVE THE STAFF. GREAT PEOPLE!

But ... this place has one big problem: Making promises they won't or can't keep. And dealing with it too much can make a visit stressful. Why?

1. 6 months prior to my visit, I was told the room was set for vacation and the conference.

2. The day I checked in it was like I never spoke with them about keeping the same room when the conference ended.

3. The day the conference ended I was locked out of my room because they checked me out and made me check back in while my luggage was still in my room.

4. I had days when housekeeping would not show up. I was told they would.

5. I asked for a beach bungalow and did not get it. I was told I would.

6. I asked for specific orders at the restaurant and was told, "Sure!" and then never got the correct order.

7. I saw the same staff all day every day and I got the feeling they are overwhelmed and working without proper resources, armed only with friendly smiles and promises they won't keep.

8. My friend asked NOT to be put near a kids room and was given a room by a kids pool.

9. The restaurant music comes on at 630am right near the hotel rooms. She was told it would be turned down. It never was.

10. Many times my key to rooms or pools would not work for unexplained reasons.

11. During my stay, two large tree limbs broke off in areas where I was walking that would have taken me out.

12. The restaurants seem to be independently operating and the staff are not exactly awarr of what other parts of the resort are doing. Bad move. They should all be knowledgeable of all resort amenities.

13. The spa was perfect until my wife needed a return done and no one could work the POS system to figure it out.

14. I once ordered breakfast at 7am. It arrived at 10am...while I was in the shower.

By the end of the trip, I had lost trust in anyone who ssid, "Sure. We can do that for you."

I manage customer service for a living and I see right thru whats happening here:

Great staff.

Beautiful location and view.

Inconsistent, poorly trained customer service.

Poorly maintained property, if you look closely.

Staff not provided modern resources for providing a positive memorable experience 100% ofthe time.

Conclusion: Upper management/owners are saving more money than investing in upkeep to improve growth. This is someone's cash crop with an unknown expiration date. Thats a shame.

I love this place and the staff. I hope whomever runs it gets their act together and works on the problems that leave a bad memory after a great visit.

This place has incredible potential.

I know I could run this place with my wife and turn it around. I would hire any of the staff I met, too.

I wish them all the best and hope to go back in a year and see things have improved.

The rooms are individually located in duplex bungalows. This is nice for privacy, but not for amenities like ice, room service, access to the lobby. The location is on a beautiful island with lots of trees and green spaces. There are beaches, tennis and basketball courts, and restaurants, plus your typical fitness center, pool, and bars. The service is pretty good, though I haven't interacted with many employees after check in. The guys on golf carts always offer a friendly wave. Overall, I like the hotel, but it's not for people who prefer a typical hotel.

We are staying in a Bayside bungalow. The location is fabulous. You can walk out the door and into the bay. It's perfect with young kids. They love the calmness of the bay and it's very shallow pretty far out. The sand is great and their are fire pits. The rooms are nice. Ours was not super clean when we checked in. I will let them know before we check out. The air conditioning works well but is loud. The grounds are pretty and well maintained. It's a very magical place to be with your family. Tidal restaurant is delicious. The barefoot bar and grill for breakfast is fine. The front desk was a very pleasant experience. The business center gets the job done.

Yeah!

Pros:

Pros:
The room was great. Nice area to walk around. Restaurant and bars on site. The pool areas were nice and there is a pool for adults only.

Cons:
They charge extra for parking even though each room each room has its own space. Some of the ponds smelled awful to walk near.

Just got back from a week long stay and absolutely loved this place! We stayed in a junior bayside suite, I would highly recommend that option if you can swing it. The garden room interiors looked nice, but the views were not that great. We had the bay beach outside our door with an amazing sunset view every night. The one complaint is the service at Barefoot was terrible, but we just chose to not go back, there are so many other great options a quick drive or Uber ride away, so didn't impact my overall rating. The cost of parking is a bit ridiculous at $38/night for a reserved spot outside your room that would otherwise go unused, $10/night would be more reasonable. Overall, we love the place, met some amazing people, and hate that we had to leave!

Do yourself a favor avoid way overpriced don't really get anything for your money rooms are outdated little dirty their their fees are as much as that room and then they charge you for every little thing will never go back and I try to tell everyone not to go there

Such a beautiful resort with plenty of opportunities for great photos of the bay. Bungalow rooms have the feel of more privacy than the traditional hotel style. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Bathroom is a little dated though. Main pool and fitness center are nice. Be sure to call the desk for towels, seems that they are never stocked. Remember, it's an Island resort. So if you forget to pack something or don't want to pay an arm/leg at the restaurants, you'll have to drive back into the main land for it. Not too bad of a drive though, the resort is a close drive to anything

Really disappointed with the rooms at this place. For the amount of money we paid I was expecting something more comfortable and nicer. The Resort grounds are beautiful and the island theme is nice don t get me wrong. However the rooms are very ill presented. For starters, Pillows are really small and you only get two, the bedding on our bed was noticeably dirty and the garden area (which we paid extra for) is literally facing a road so there are cars driving by all the time. The noise of the cars driving by made it impossible to have a peaceful night of sleep. What really was a deal breaker for me though was the restroom space. It is absurdly small. I literary felt I was on a restroom stall. One has to move aside for the door to open so that you can have enough space to get out. The shower curtain had a moldy smell, and floors were filthy (we even found a used bandaid stuck to the floor). The customer service was ok nothing too impressive. We rented two rooms and requested to have adjacent rooms, however they gave us room 783 & 785 when there was no one in 784 . Overall not the experience I was hoping for. We stayed at the Hyatt Hotel in La Jolla the time before we were vacationing in San Diego and they were so much better for around the same price.

Great family and couple getaway resort. It's in the middle to everything and very close to Sea World. They make it really a family friendly place. There's a main pool with a bar that serves good mix and cocktail drinks. The nachos are must. The gym is up to date and clean located in the main pool. The rooms are clean we'll maintained and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

This is a wonderful Resort where you really don't have to go into the city of San Diego. The staff is excellent and the food at their restaurants are good as well. This was the second conference which I have attended there and I love it as a venue or a vacation spot. I sure would love to have my wife go there with me!
