I am highly disappointed in the mistakes made by the staff of Paradise Point over the course of several interactions ranging from Thursday 08/22/19 through 08/25/19. The level of incompetence and inability to accept blame for the mistakes made is extremely frustrating. Most of the other actions taken by this resort must not fall into this category which is great for their guests, but is very irritating when trying to complete a nice gesture for a close friend.
I called on Thursday to pay it forward and have a few drinks delivered to my friends who were staying at the resort 08/24 - 08/25. After speaking with the front desk, I was patched to the Island Market, which struggled to understand what I wanted to accomplish. Ultimately I ordered 4 margaritas to be delivered to my friends (I explained that I was not staying there) who were arriving 08/24. I explained that I paid for these drinks in advance for two of my friends who had gotten married at this resort, they are both medical residents, and had not seen each other in over 3 months. The names of the guests were provided since they had not checked in yet and I paid for the drinks as well as a delivery fee. I received a call back letting me know the drinks were about to be delivered which I had to intervene on since my friends had not yet arrived. I explained for the second time that my friends had not checked in yet and that I would like them delivered once they check in, and then provided their names again. Confirmation was provided that they would call me once the drinks were delivered.
On Saturday, I received two separate phone calls on Saturday night, after 8pm to inform me that the drinks had not been delivered and they could not find the guests. I was thoroughly surprised as I had provided the names and literally spelled them out as well two days prior. They confirmed the names and that they would now send them the drinks and would call back to confirm that the drinks were delivered. No confirmation was provided.
I called on the morning of 08/25 to follow-up and I was informed by Jenny that the drinks still had not been delivered. I asked why and an answer could not be provided, so she quickly transitioned to offering me a refund. While I felt a refund was appropriate, it was not merely enough to balance out the mistakes made and inability to follow through on anything that was said. I explained for the second time that I paid for these drinks in advance for two of my friends who had gotten married at this resort, they are both medical residents, and had not seen each other in over 3 months. I asked if they could send two complimentary (not to be charged to me) mimosas to my friends before they checked out since they failed to carry out the initial endeavor. Jenny had to ask again who these drinks were being sent to, my friends have unique names to say the least, and I clarified. She promised me that a phone call would be provided once they were delivered and my refund was inputted into the system.
I did not receive a follow-up phone call on Sunday, I called on 08/26/19 and was informed that there was no carry over of information and that to their knowledge, nothing had been delivered. Despite that, I would still receive my refund, which had not been processed yet despite the conversation from the day prior. There was no reason left to maintain conversation as my kind gesture failed to materialize due to monumental incompetence on the part of multiple parties involved in this process. On 08/27 I received a phone call confirming that my refund was processed wand would be present in 7-10 business days.
While I am disappointed at the failure to complete a simple task meant to be a kind gesture and am astounded by the inability to accept blame or readily remedy the issue outside of offering a refund, I am perplexed that not a single person apologized for ruining what I tried to do for a good friend of mine.

Always like staying here. For me, it's a good balance of fancy yet laid back. We've come for years during the off-season, on spur-of-the-moment staycations. Rooms were recently renovated, much improved! Will come again for sure.

Our stay was fantastic. Food was great service was great staff was friendly . I had forgot my tablet in the spa while there for a massage . didn't realize until we were in the restaurant , Bare Foot bar & grill and the spa closed right after we left . I was all worried about having to return next day for I was not spending the night . when we for back to the suite the phone was ringing and a sweet girl sorry I can't remember her name said she had my tablet and was going to send it right over to the suite. Excellent services. Happy New Year to all the staff.

Feels like you are in a tropical paradise. It's worth getting a bay front room to be on the water and have the views. Some rooms have fewer windows facing the view than others.
This is one of the best places in California for quality family time! The kids will love it all.
Bring firewood for the fire pits. Everything on-site is over priced (beer: $16-$22 for a 6 pack, smore kit: $22, firewood: $17) Stock up before. It is nice to have options on-site. Great gift shop as well. In the morning, hit the coffee bar in the lobby.
Excellent service, very friendly, clean rooms, good restaurants. Many pools throughout the property.
Very centrally located. Nextdoor to Sea World, 10 min to old town. Try out Casa Guadalajara on the edge of old town, for awesome food, great margaritas and a very fun atmosphere. Always a LONG wait on weekends so go before the kids are hungry or they won't last.
For an adventure, rent a boat on property and cruise the bay.
Finally, look online for deals and sign up for email deals. We will be back again!!! Enjoy!

Beautiful locale reminiscent of Hawaii with walking paths, three restaurants, bike and surrey rentals, miniature golf course, plenty of pools, water features, a scenic tower, private cove, boat rentals, and more. You'd never notice the city nearby but it is conveniently close as is local sites such as the famous zoo, safari park, and SeaWorld.

My family has been coming here for years. In the past it's been a great destination when you want to just relax and do your thing. At our most recent stay, however, we encountered a real lapse in the quality of service, housekeeping, and some blatant racism at the Barefoot Bar & Grill. This was extremely subpar when you consider how much they charge from the room rate, to items at the shop, to a medium pizza, etc. We'll likely be exploring other vacation options next summer.

BE AWARE FOR EXCESSIVE FEES!!!! I stayed here and after I received my bill there were 2 very extreme fees added that were not listed at the time I booked this place: $38 for parking, on top of $32 "Resort fee". These fees and taxes were almost as much as the rate for the room.
The hotel refused to do anything about this, and claims these are normal rates for the area.

Came here with my family for our summer vacation. Room was clean and super-cute; grounds were amazing. The location was close to a lot of things we wanted to do, and there was plenty of activities on the property as well. Pool, fitness center, and private beach were awesome. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5: reconsider your parking fees and resort fees. These extra fees feel a little like gouge-ing your guests. Also, the restaurants on site were overpriced, except for the pool bar/restaurant which had amazing nachos and decent prices. We also had to call the desk 2x to get the coffee supplies in our room refilled because housekeeping did not replenish them. Overall our experience was very good, and would consider coming back to stay here in the future.

We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary at Paradise Point. It was a memorable experience. Our suite was very nice and we received great customer service. Although the website does not explain the amenities very well, the room had everything we needed. Shop off site for snacks or soda pop, so you will get more bang for your buck. The overall experience was incredible!

Great place to go far away and still be in the city. Full vacation resort you never need to leave for anything. Rooms have been renovated but the island still has the old school vibe. Love it here.

Beautiful grounds, basic, spacious rooms.
Friendly staff.
There's a private sandy beach in front of the hotel. Quiet environment in the fall.
Restaurants could offer more choices for breakfast. Plan on spending quite extra if your meals are going to be at the hotel.
Internet and parking are not free and add around 80 dollars to the daily rate.

I stayed at Paradise point this week. I was there for a work conference for 4 days and 3 nights. I called and made a reservation with the front desk and told them I was with AMLA conference for 3 nights and 4 days. On the 3rd day I get a text saying you're checking out today....which wasn't the case. I politely went down and explained the situation. The front desk said they where at full capacity and there was nothing they could do. They where as friendly as a stray cobra. Again I was super nice. They couldn't give me a late check out nothing...... I thought I was getting punked... I walked around the property later that day and I counted at least 5 rooms that where completely empty. They did nothing to accommodate their mistake. If you're about customer service... I wouldn't stay here if it was free. There are plenty of other places to stay that are way nicer and for the same price.

Stayed in a bungalow with the water right out the front door. Overall loved the room and my stay. Wish the walls were not paper thin as I could hear every word of the adjoining bungalow. Good thing I was not in it much.
Didn't appreciate Kevin the bartender adding extra 0's to my tip - which I found later and had to dispute with my credit card company. Stay classy San Diego.

Wow, we just loved our stay at Paradise Point. This resort is centrally located to lots of San Diego destinations, but has a quiet, peaceful feeling of someplace much more remote. The property has interesting roots back to the early movie industry and a cool, early 60s mid modern style. The restaurants were all really good and service from all the staff was outstanding. Our best vacation in some time!

I am giving a place one star for the beautiful grounds. Overall, very expensive and dirty place. I would not consider this a destination resort, it only falls under that category because of location. When we checked in and got to our room. There was a dirty towel hanging over the shower and spider webs in the bathroom. This place was very disgusting room wise. We didn't get a newly renovated room, so beware. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the sleeper couch was much worse.
I asked what time the fitness center opened at the front desk because I like to workout really early, and the lady informed me 6AM. When I arrived to fitness center at 6AM there were already people in there telling me it opened at 5AM. Mis-Informed staff, dirty and uncomfortable rooms, are enough to make me not want to stay at this place again.

The TIDAL Restaurant is FABULOUS!!! The VIEW of MISSION BAY was AMAZING! Our waiter, Daniel, was polite, friendly, accomodating, and a real pleasure to talk to and get local info! The CUISINE was SUPERB! I've dined all over and would compare this to the TOP SHELF RESTAURANTS and dining experience of the NAPA WINE TRAIN! INTERESTING MENU. The chef is so CREATIVE! The presentation and the flavors were a TREAT TO THE SENSES!!! The CHEF even came out to our table! IMPRESSED! And DELIGHTED! One of THE BEST DINING EXPERIENCES-EVER!!!

Beware - lots of extra fees: $34/ day for self parking in a big empty lot and another $20+ / day "resort" fee. Valet parking in a big city doesn't cost that much. Dirty beaches and pools/workout room close too early. AC crapped out during the night and had to move the kids at 5am. New room was a downgrade.

This place is beautifully manicured, the restaurants and bars are all top quality, the staff is friendly and responsive.
The rooms are showing their age a bit, but it's not even worth docking a point for. Each room gets a close parking spot, they're all a short walk from the beach, and there's not an ugly view on the grounds.
Also, boat rental is easy and the boats are in good condition.

My family & I came here for about 3 days for a little getaway. I called to make reservations & I was very pleased with the service provided from Bell. She offered us the Stay & Play package with $200 credit for dining or purchases. I asked about the cleaning procedure due to Covid & Bell explained to me that they thoroughly clean the rooms very well especially all high touch points. Check in was fairly easy & the place is definitely beautiful. BUT you may have to clean the place yourself once you re in your bungalow. As soon as we arrived I sprayed our bungalow with Lysol & had to wipe down light switches, & door knobs, & doors again as they were very filthy. Definitely disappointed in the cleanliness with this place. We got a bungalow beach front in the middle of the cove and it was very nice, but I would suggest to bring a broom for all the dirt you are going to accumulate in the hotel. The food at Barefoot Bar and Grill was delicious, we ate there for the entire stay. Activities were fun, but be sure to book in advance for kids. We wanted to walk around at night & decided to sit and watch the ducks under the pavilion that sits in front of the staircase to watch the sunset. Well as I look up at the pretty light fixture we see many spiders and eggs crawling all over the lights in their web!!! I grabbed my daughter and went straight to the room to shower her. Also, upon checking out make sure that you review the package you purchased, we purchased the stay and play that Bell booked us for, but apparently we ended up with different package during check out and had to fork out more money for the remainder charges. Not cool! Also, had to call guest service 3 times between 2pm to 9pm for towels to get delivered. That was ridiculous! If you re a coffee lover, DO NOT get excited about the coffee bar, definitely nothing special, you re average cup a joe.
Just a little tip, it s not exactly a private resort, the public can enter from the sides of the beaches as they did during our stay and although there is quiet time after 10pm the public doesn t care. First night, cars doing donuts in the public parking lot & 2nd night, drunk people arguing at 3am! Horrible!
The two starts I have was for the great food (five stars for food and the employees there), great view, and everyone was friendly with good vibes, but not worth it if I came to getaway, but had re clean the rooms and worry about drunk people, & spiders. Amenities in the room need to be updated. Such a disappointment for our family as we looked forward to staying here.
