My first time at the restaurant - we went on NYE for their prix fixe menu. The food was incredibly bland. It's actually difficult for me to convey just how remarkably tasteless the meal was, but we were essentially looking at a thin canopy of unflavored toppings atop plain peasant bread. People at our table ended up asking for oil, vinaigrette (etc) in order to try and perform meal-saving alchemy, but we were informed that these items were unavailable. Anyway, at $50/head, the price didn't feel at all unreasonable for NYE, but still a pretty disappointing experience. Would have much rather just had a taco, you know?

I saw other tables enjoying stuff from their regular menu and it looked pretty good.

Excellent restaurant from start to finish. Literally takes you to another world as soon as you walk in the door. Service is friendly and happy to offer suggestions. Ambiance is great and the decor is well thought out. The food... unreal. Best mozzarella I ve ever had. The pinsa was out of this world, I ve never tasted crust quite like this before. We had the quadraro and one other that had honey and meat on it, every bite was perfection. Easily my top 5 favorite places in SF, we will be back many more times!

It's in a sketchy alley in a bad neighborhood in the middle of the city, but this place is so worth it. Amazing pinsas (a style of pizza with a chewy thin crust). Must get the broccolini and sausage pinsa and add some of their housemade chili oil on top -- to die for. The restaurant's decor is quirky and charming, with an authentic mini-deli-bar in the back where you can buy some of their marinated olives, meats, etc.

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants on Divisadero. It's impossible to go wrong with the Chicago-style options, and the thin crust Greek is one of my favorite pizzas ever. Don't forget to check the specials!

It's small and can be pretty noisy, but the food quality is exceptional. The flour is imported from Italy and you can tell.
The pinsas are pretty big so if you're not too hungry splitting one with an app can be plenty. We got a beet salad on the side which was excellent.

Ordered a pinsa for $21 and asked to add truffles. Eventually got a pinsa with truffles on top but with zero smell and zero truffle taste and $43 total check, $38 of which was pinsa itself. I think you should warn your customer before the order. Like You want a black truffle? That s gonna be $17 more to your $21 pinsa. Are you sure? Maybe you ll take two pinsas? Pinsa Itself was okay, but not even close to the one I usually order in Moscow. The rest is good, staff is very friendly. Be careful, all I m saying.

This place is very misleading. I read good reviews on Yelp, probably bought and paid for. I arrived for my reservation at 7pm on a Thursday. Little did I know, the location is on the skeeziest alleyway corner of 6th Street, crack cocaine dealers and all. After paying exorbitant prices for Pinza (a less good version of pizza) I exited the restaurant around 8:30 to see a drugged out man masturbating in the alley. Literally masturbating. What else is there to say??!!

Pinsa, pizza whatever you call it, Montesacro might have the best in the City. Salads and appetizers are also great. It's not the best neighborhood, though, so if you're skittish about such things, maybe time your visit so that you're out before dark.

The pinsas and wine were delightful. The waitress attending to my group warned us their spicy oil on the side was extremely hot. Turned out it wasn't "extremely hot" for me, but they did make a fair attempt at spicy. Our two veggie pinsas turned out to be a treat.

The food at this place is so good. It's a good place for early lunches seeing as it closes around 2pm. It's a small place and does get packed but it's well worth the food and they have great customer service.

Excellent service. The place is cozy with an old authentic feel while still feeling super clean. I got the fixed price lunch at the top of the menu and I'll definitely come back. Next time I'll try something more flavorful than marguerita.

This place has great food in a very charming spot. Stopped by with a friend on my final night visiting in San Francisco and couldn t have asked for a better final meal. The pinsas are tasty and lighter than a pizza. I opted for one topped with smoked salmon and dill, which was exceptional. For dessert we shared the spicy chocolate budino and it was an excellent end to the meal along with an americano. Service was cordial and efficient. All in all I loved this place and if I lived closer I would definitely be stopping by often.

Very sketchy part of town. Lots of drug users, tents on the street and homeless folks all around the restaurant. The food was good and service attentive however. The restaurant was packed, but not sure I would ever return, from a safety perspective.

A Pinsa is like a Pizza, but the crust has a different texture and taste. It definitely has a lighter and crispier feel than a pizza. It's supposedly healthier than a regular pizza, which is great, but at $19 a Pinsa, it's pretty expensive. They get their flour straight out of Rome, which probably explains the price tag. I really did enjoy my Pinsa, though, and I would recommend it to those who are truly pizza lovers, because it might just taste like any other pizza to you if you're not a true connoisseur of the doughy arts.

This small Italian eatery is nestled in an off-the-beaten-path street but worth searching out. It is rustic in its appearance, but a charming rustic. My only issue was that the seats were not comfortable. But the food made up for it. The staff had great recommendations for food and wine - the sausage and broccolini pins was my favorite... The burrata and hame appetizers were also great. I would definitely return - request a table in the back, better atmosphere.

Characteristic places where you can breath the authentic spirit of a "pinseria romana"!!! Thera are limited seats and sometimes you are not in a comfortable space, but the quality of the good and the ambiance are a sure value!
The Italian girl serving was really competent and nice. A different and nice night!

I came to this place because it was close to the Orpheum for a show and it delivered what I wanted. I wouldn't say this is overhyped, I think it delivers what it claims - a quality pinsa made the way the restaurant claims is a tradition. They also claim the wheat flour is imported from Rome, not sure if that would truly make a total difference.

The lunch special is hard to beat - for only $15 you get a salad (subtlely oiled and salted), a beautiful and generously sized margherita pinsa (well cooked with nice chewy dough), and an espresso.

Location is less than desirable on a side street next to a plethora of homeless people. After the sun sets, it may not be the kind of street to walk down for some folks.

Delicious pinsas! Basically like pizza but more flat bread like. We got the margherita and the quadraro pinsas to go and both were so tasty!! Highly recommend this place and the interior has some pretty cool vibes too.

Amazing spot! It was surprisingly lively at 9:30 on Thursday, but we were seated immediately at the bar. The burrata pizza was tasty and enough for two of us to share as a late night snack with a glass of wine. I will definitely be back.

I've walked by here a million times and never even noticed the restaurant - it's hidden on Stevenson alley just off of 6th street. Came in for lunch and the food was excellent. The Trullo flatbread/pizza with lamb sausage, mushrooms and yogurt was delicious. The dough is light and fluffy, just like you find in Italy. Very excited to have this place in the neighborhood. They also have a fantastic cocktail hour, "aperetivo" sometime which they run from 4-6pm Mon-Saturday.

Ttl:dr-- good food+wine, eat fast!!!! We showed up 3 minutes late for a 445 pm reservation and they up front told us they needed the table at 615. Totally fine, I get it, it's a small place. So, we're seated, it takes 13 minutes for our server to wander over and take our order in a mostly empty restaurant. He was knowledgeable, and had a great wine recommendation (though I don't know that you need to explain mache to San Franciscans). We got a starter (burrata with pesto and anchovies-good, though not amazing) and pinsa (nightly special- stracciatella, mache, pink peppercorns, smoked trout - tasty!) to share, and 2 glasses of wine. The starter came out pretty quickly..... And then we waited over 45 minutes for the pinsa. The manager was very kind and attentive right at the end, and gave us a little wedge of crumbly ricotta tart with amarene cherries, which was a nice gesture, but it felt really off having punctual service only at the end when they were trying to get us out of the restaurant. I might come back, but with -very- adjusted expectations.

An amazing pizzeria in a slightly off the beaten path location! I had a great time there. The crust was fantastic and the toppings just right. A place worth visiting if your are downtown in SF and want a change from the conventional chain places.
