Told me I had to finish my meal in 45 minutes because they had reservations. I said ok but then walked out after no one came to take my order. Service seemed pretty bad for the prices.

Great Service....they were very kind and seated us with no reservation. Nice pizza crust and a great dessert - the pinsa pesto - a MUST!!
We waited very much because we entered without reservation, but the staff was very helpful and wonderful.
The outside is crunchy, but PINSA, which is baked plumply, is the best! Since there is quite a single volume, it is recommended to share and eat!
The wine list was also very particular.
A little pricey, but it was delicious and authentic.
I really like this spot! Looks like they made their pizza's size/ portions small recently but I really like the taste. One of the authentic pizza places I have been to in SF!
Service and place are not worth the price. Food is fine but expensive. The wine selection is good though but they really have no idea about what they are selling.
This place is amazing, try the lamb sausage Trullo pinsa...oh...my....
My preferred spot for Pizza. one of the best spots in the area. i will be bringing friends next time. the bill won't break you. food and atmosphere reminds me of kansas city.
Amazing food and atmosphere. We also brought our 6 month old daughter and she was treated like a princess.
Really awesome Pisa! The environment is also great. Makes you really feel like you are in Italy.
Excellent for the light pre-theatre dinner that we wanted. We came without a resevation and were politely seated at the bar in about 10 minutes... Alex our waitstaff made excellent recommendations, service was fast but not too fast. Definitely going to go back next time we have GGT fix ..but with a table reservation.
Quite exotic experience. It's not the pizza you have known.
Great food. Lots of options. Great service. But cramped for space, but adds to the environment if you have the right expectation. Location is a bit dodgy.
I am sorry to say that, but going to this restaurant has been - by far - the most disappointing experience in the US for me so far (I am German). The place has an undeniably beautiful flair, but this first expression is completely shattered by their price-benefit ratio. I had a black truffle Pinsa and I regrettably have to say that it was the worst one I ever had. First of all, I ordered that Pinsa with added ham topping and was promptly told that this is not possible as the cook did not want it that way. Fair, if you serve some 3-star-michelin dish (which they don't). After some negotiations, I got three slices of ham on a extra plate for no less than $10. Welp, there's that. But coming to the main dish: The dough-to-topping ratio was off the chart in a sense that there was essentially no topping at all and the so-called truffle was non-existant (taste-wise, I got some black crumps on my Pinsa which MIGHT have been truffle....). So far, so good, if you charge $7 for that. But no, they cost $30! This is in my opinion (and I have been to Italy several times and KNOW!) not worth your money in any way, if you want to burn your money while eating bland food served by stubborn waiters by any means be their guest, otherwise avoid this place at all costs! We ended paying $130 for two Pinsa (one with ham) and four glasses of (bland) wine. I do not know what we paid for but it certainly wasn't cooking skill, flavor, a wine connoisseur and service.
Amazing restaurant, nice ambience.
Definitely try their Pinsa.
Good quality pies with nice toppings, a nice wine selection, three of us two appetizers, two pizzas, two desserts, two glasses of wine with tip $121.
Nice gem, you'll miss it if you're familiar with. Food and wine is excellent!
I couldn't believe the freshness of the food, very flavorful. The pinzza was delicious and dessert was unique. If I go back to San Francisco, I have to visit it again.
Came here for a group lunch with co-workers on a Thursday afternoon. The place was crowded but we were lucky enough to arrive right before another large group and were able to get a table. All of us went for different "pinsas" which are like personal pizzas. However, I liked the dough in these pinsas...it wasn't heavy. Plus the toppings were excellent. The atmosphere is fun, but a bit loud so it's difficult to have table-wide conversations.
Don't brave the neighborhood alone and come hungry. There's a lot of heart in this place, and in every dish it shows. The pinsas are generously sized for one person. Save room for dessert.
Great pizzas and desserts. I recommend the one with the tuna and the pistachio dessert.
Try the sausage flatbread and kale Caesar salad. But don't get scared off by the neighborhood. It's worth it and I've never had a problem.
Pinsa (a Roman style pizza) was awesome, staff was very welcoming
The pre fixe lunch special is such a treat. Lovely place, great service, and really good food.
Last night, we had dinner here. It was a very elegant and sophisticated place. All the food you serve is so delicious. Our waiter, too, was very welcoming and polite. He made sure that everything we had was fine. The experience we had last night was great. The 5-star service!
very good clamp and the staff very polite and prepared, unfortunately the bill is salty because adding the taxes and tips was too expensive to have eaten so little, unfortunately the place is in an air not very recommendable in fact on the evening that we were here we saw on the street corner three people taken away by the police
No I wouldn't go back
The most real Italian place in SF! Pinsa with broccoli and burrata is out of this world. Wine list is on point!
Great Italian menu, quality food and wines! Very kind also the owner Leonardo who gave us advice and suggestions. Finally a proper espresso coffee.
Awesome specialty pizzas. Great ambience with funky design.
The food is fantastic. I am italian and I can tell that this pinsa is as good as the one you can get in Rome. The price is ok since the food quality is great. I give 4 stars because of the neighborhood. Really bad. If you go for lunch you will have no problems but at night it can be dangerous. We almost got mugged leaving the place and it was 7,30 pm. But we will go there for lunch. Just a suggestion to the owners: move out of San Francisco. You will triple your business giving a safer place to your customers.
Great place! Delicious appetizers and quick service. Friendly staff too! Highly recommend.
Great food, although some of the options were interesting, and you may have to ask the friendly waiter.
It's great and quite unique decor and cuisine. Check it out
Amazing pizza! Definitely different than your standard fare. Would highly recommend checking it out.
I usually prefer thin crust pizza, but Little Star's deep dish pizza defiantly hits the spot. So delicious!!
Pinseria Montesacro is really something special! Their crust is to die for, the toppings are all top quality, and their staff are talkative and friendly. And the decor is so densely covering the walls that you'll never mind waiting a few minutes for a table. This is currently my favorite pizza in SF.
A unique Italian experience, from the staff to the food! I would definetly eat there again.
Very good food and service! The area can be a little scary, But restaurant was great!!
Pinseria Romana Montesacro is a true Italian pinseria. Food (especially pizza) is great, and you can find Italian bottled beers as well, I advise you try Menabrea.
Nicest staff and great Pinseria- it's a healthy version of pizza that really does not make you feel overly full. Just right. Very tasty. They added eggplant to my margarita and it was great. Their desserts looked good too
Pinsas need more respect. These things are amaaaaazing. The crust is so fresh - perfect amount of crispy and chewy. Always go with the buratta salad as an app - they ll tell you it s not actually a salad and they re right but get it. Trust me.
Every pinsa that I ve had is 5/5. Beautiful decor and the most interesting bathroom. Excellent service as well. 10/10 recommend coming to this restaurant.
Sure I can recommend the Centocelle pizza/pinsa! Delicious pizza dough made of a blend of rice, soy and wheat flour - top notch. We all got our own pizza wheel to slice the pinsa. I'll be back - next time I'm in SF. :)
Maybe we ordered the wrong thing but it wasnt as we expected at all. Over priced for the taste.
The pizzas are inspired by ancient Roman cuisine, the first stateside pinseria offering a modern take on pinsa made with a blend of rice, soy and wheat flour imported directly from Rome, all GMO-free.
The pinsa dough is low-fat, low-calorie and easy to digest.
I d suggest Ubering to and from the restaurant as the surrounding could be quite sketchy and adventurous for some.
Cheap ingredients, small portions and faces, nice place but more looks than anything else, Italians are made and nothing to do
Cool little hole-in-the-wall Italian spot! Staff was really nice and accomodating, food was really good. Didnt see any tables available through reservation system but wandered down there from our hotel and got sat right away. Definitely follow google maps to get here, its down a side alley.
Excellent authentic food and real Italian espresso.
Flatbreads were great and the cheese selection was extensive.
The food and atmosphere is great but the way to the place is not so pleasant
Trendy and good feeling. Kept expecting the 'Rat Pack ' to walk in, but not for comfort and easy chairs!
The food and atmosphere were amazing. It is a cozy restaurant. I was sitting on the bar because I was there alone. They took so much care about me, I felt really welcome. The focaccia was the best. I would eat there anytime again.
Good pizza. Chewy crust. Not really designed to be shared so it limits the variety of pizzas you can try during a visit.
This place is amazing. My fav. The tuna pizza is the best
True Italian food, great atmosphere, great coffee. Not cheap...
Tried the pizza on a Friday night. Very enjoyable. The crust was light and airy. The pork cheek was fatty and tasty. A touch of honey was very delightful.
Would definitely come back again to try more pizza !
Hidden gem not to missed. Although the neighborhood is a bit dicey, it is worth the effort to visit Montesacro Pinseria. This little Roman style cozy restaurant offers pinza, a Roman style pizza that is both delicious and delightful. The crust tastes freshly homemade and is slightly chewy but has a fine consistent texture. I tried the Maranella which has mozzarella, broccollini, and spice sausage. I paired that with the Porchetta Panini which comes with an arugula salad. The Maranella had the right balance of soft and chewy, spicy and sweet. The Porchetta Panini was sweeter than I expected but complemented well with the slightly bitter arugula. This was a well balanced set of flavors. The staff were charming and courteous. The cozy atmosphere was warm and inviting. The table setting was almost oddly elegant in the very rustic decor. All in all, I highly recommend Montesacro Pinseria for fine food in a cozy casual setting!
You know the pizza is good when they bring you a special tool to cut it. It was a really good margherita. Very crispy.
Tried some italian cheeses and they where also very tasty. Nom nom nom.
Cannot say the same thing about the wine, which was meh and the friendliness of the staff is something they can also work on to become a true 5 I would say they are 4.5 at the moment so very good spot, will clearly come back
Great find down a smaller street. Unassuming front, but once you step inside, the atmosphere and food make it top notch.
Hidden gem in the hubbub of San Francisco. Ambiance is great, staff is friendly, and pinsa delicious.
Great little place. Original (in all senses) food. Even good desserts. I recommend it.
Great food and staff. Their menu is based around the Pinsa - a flat bread pizza. The crust and ingredients of the Pinsa we had was phenomenal. We choose this establishment at random and felt like we had won a prize.
Montesacro is where the Italians in San Francisco meet to eat pizza!
Delicious pinsas. I've been to Montesacro several times before lock down, and I'm a huge fan of their pinsa dough (and toppings). But mainly the delicious, fluffy, chewy, hot dough.
The pinsas are amazing. As someone that struggles with an overdose of carbs and feeling bloated, these pinsas are the best alternative. Super fresh with a lot of flavor. Completely love it!
As an Italian I can tell this is the best Pinsa in San Francisco at all. There is also a good selection of Italian wines.
In a somewhat hidden gem dir place is where you can eat.
Atmosphere, friendly staff, quality and originality are all here in abundance.
The food is amazing despite how sketchy the ally is.
I recommend dinner reservations which seem to book out pretty early and I see why. You really taste the quality, freshness and tastiness. We had the burrata with pesto and the blood orange salad with beets for appetizers. The beets were orange and the oranges were red as beets! We also tried one pinseria which is enough for two. The cheese in each dish was so delicious I'd come back to try an actual cheese plate. Service was also very attentive. The only drawback is this would be a bit of a splurge due to portion and pricing. But you are basically getting what you pay for.
Excellent spot in the city. Had my first ever 'Pinsa' and wasn't disappointed at all. There was a decent queue but the lovely staff took down my number and called me in 20 minutes once my spot at the counter was ready. Great service too.
