These guys know how to give a tour! We did the hop on/off tour and had a truly great experience. Definitely recommend running through the whole loop once before getting off at stops. Our guide for the first loop was Nelson or Nelvis as he calls himself, and he was phenomenal. Very funny and clever with his jokes and taught us a lot about the city. The second guide we met was Jamie and she was very bright and energetic. Sadly I can't remember the name of the last guide we drove with as I was dead tired by the time we got back on at the end of the day but she was great! She told us she had come to Savannah with the dream of being a tour guide and look at where she is now! She was from Tennessee. She had a great sarcastic sense of humor which is my favorite and I am kicking myself for forgetting her name. She was the sweetest individual I met in Georgia by far. Always will mention this tour company to friends.

Old town trolley tours had more trolleys we had to wait 4 to 1 maybe 5 to 1 for a trolley from old Savannah tours verses old town ,I will definitely use old town trolley tours before the other the next time in Savannah
Kudos to Wendy and Joan for being such terrific tour guides. It was very interesting to take the complete tour twice because each lady gave her own perspective on what we were seeing. They were quite fascinating. The service provided by Old Savannah Tours was truly outstanding. They actually sent a van to pick us up at our hotel and take us to the first stop of the trolley! Then, they took us back to the hotel. As a side note, I was ashamed of people on our trolleys who did not tip. These drivers worked really hard and did a great job. Even a small tip is better than nothing.
Enjoyed our tour very much. Our driver and guide, big Scott, was excellent. Loved all his personal knowledge and stories. We did the 90 minute overview tour. It was a great way to see a lot and get some great history of the area. The bus was heated and very comfortable for the cold November day. Would highly recommend this, the only truly local, tour company!
Nelson aka "nelvis" was absolutely fabulous. He was funny and answered all of our questions the best he could. We asked things like where do you find cane syrup and gallberry honey. Lol tell him the store by the park didn't have gallberry. We ate at Forsyth park and had a great time! As for the price, we paid to get on and off, but it was so hot we went back to camp after lunch. So it was sort of high for a one trip ride.
Loved hearing the history but the dining experience was not as good as expected. Actor's were not able to be a part of the your as advertised and that was disappointing.
Though a little pricey, the Old Savannah Tour was fantastic. We purchased the off/on tickets so we could visit any of the sites we wanted and could hop back on the next trolly car. It was lots of fun and the drivers were excellent story tellers and historians. This is a must for any visitor of the area.
I enjoyed the ghost tour we did. Several actors presented ghost stories along a ride around the historic district. A bit disappointed we did not get off the bus for any of the stops so it wasn't easy to see much.
Amazing tour!! Knowledgeable guide and lots of chances to get off the trolley and walk historic Savannah. We stayed on for the whole ride because we had a little one and didn't bring a stroller but it was fun for all our ages.
We took the 90-minute, 16-stop overview tour, which includes unlimited on/off all day. I'm sure all their guides are good, but we couldn't be more pleased with our driver, Jamie! She was informative, funny and engaging. She even consistently kept her cool negotiating the challenges thrown at her by honest-to-goodness Sunday Drivers: "Aw, I know you just didn't see me, darlin' (bless your heart)". We had an absolutely great time. When visiting Savannah, book your tour with Old Savannah Tours. You won't be disappointed!
BTW, We saved $8 on our 2 adult tickets by buying them ahead, online.
The tour part is a bit cheesy. Lots of those "theme park jokes" and people come aboard portraying characters, like Forest Gump. Plus, I fact checked some of the mentions and found information to be inaccurate. For example, "Keeping up with the Joneses" was not because of Jones Street Savannah; it was from a NYC comic. It is however a good way to get around Savannah and see a lot without having to walk the entire city.
Buses very jerky. 4 different trolleys and buses and none had a smooth ride. Drivers heavy on the gas and hard on the brakes. Buses could use updates on the suspension. Only two characters during our 15 stop tour Enjoyed the tour and knowledge of the guides.
We took the one hundred minute or on/off tour. Our guide was Tammy and she was absolutely wonder! So informative and funny! It s so obvious she loves her job and Savannah! I would take this tour every day as long as she was our guide!!
Took the Grave Encounters Ghost Tour. I enjoy hearing stories but these were told in a heavy English accent and too quickly. Many 'facts' were exaggerated to a some extent which lessened the historical accuracy. Air conditioned buses would have been wonderful in the August heat.
Wonderful tour with a great guide who offers a plethora of information about the city. This is one of the best ways to see all the historic spots around town.
The tour guide said the exact same thing about every house. And would critique people walking or driving over the loud speaker. We got off early and never went back
Had an enjoyable tour, our guide was funny and interesting. We met Forrest Gump, and Mary Telfair, historical reenactors in authentic costumes. Next visit I will do another tour with my relatives. Very enjoyable!
Tour guide Donnie made this 2 stars instead of 5...The first lady we had was great, the concept wonderful and very convenient! Donnie on the other hand was rude and condensing. Unfortunately we had him more than once. Not only could we not quietly dicuss ANYTHING such as what stop we wanted next, lest he admonish you as he was talking, but he made fun of an elderly couple's hats, didn't stop for a senior citizen with a limp and was more interested in hearing his own voice instead of great customer experience, as evidenced by him not opening the doors for patrons until he was finished talking! He made fun of drivers and tourists alike! If Donnie is your driver wsir for the next bus! He got a tip from the three of us in our party, one penny each!
Didnt enjoy the tour that much. Our guide wasnt that great. Kept forgetting many of the things he was suppose to point out and talk about and would say "oh I missed it you'll have to look behind you" Also was more into telling jokes and talking to the passengers about where they are from than telling us anything about Savannah. He was having a hard time driving the trolly, which I give him credit for doing as well as he did because I couldn't do it, but he was having everyone watch out for him and help him navigate so much that there wasn't much time to talk about Savannah. Between that and his jokes I learned nothing. The tour was suppose to be an hr long, but idt it was. Didn't seem that way anyways with how fast we went through it all. Was very disappointed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Mike did a great job as our guide and the period characters that spoke to us were also very good. Especially the cotton agent. He was fantastic!
We always send customers who are looking for an entertaining, informative tour to our friends at Old Savannah. Family owned and operated and great group of people!
If you use this company I would definitely recommend the walking tour. Did the trolly tour which was nice to see the town's, but the stories were all over the place and we never knew which building our tour guide was ever talking about because he would start the stories 3 blocks after we passed the building and you never get off the trolly until the very end. Stories were dry, never went in depth and there was no history or dates to back the stories up. Be sure to get a tour guide who's a good story teller because unfortunately, ours was not. So much more could be done with the most haunted city in the country.
While it was pet friendly the seats are so cramped together it's hard to enjoy the sights. Our driver was super informative but I could not get off fast enough. If tight spots aren't your thing pass on this.
We literally spent the whole day with Old Savannah Tours! We showed up around 10 and rode the tour the whole way through to just get the lay of the land. Our tour guide was a lady dressed in full southern belle attire! She set the bar very high because of her knowledge and storytelling skills. The characters that hopped on at periodic stops to give us extra history about the city were an added bonus! We rode a second time and got off at several places of interest to us. When we were ready to catch a ride, another trolly came through within minutes. Our last stop was on River Street and we were picked up at 5 and headed back to our car. Also, I want to mention that we did bring our compact stroller for our 3 yr old and it fit snuggly in the floor of my husband's seat. For first timers in Savannah, this tour was worth every single penny!
Tours were ok. We used this trolley company for the full day trolley ride and for the ghost tour to sorell weed house. They continually promote certain restaraunts during the rides and tell you they are the best, which they aren't......must be getting kickbacks. The ghost tour was rushed and we couldn't understand our driver half of the time, disappointed with the overall experience.
A must do when visiting savannah lots of history about the old town the trolley was clean and plenty of distant seating. Tour guide mike was very educated about the history of savannah. Apprx $28 a person with plenty of parking. Well worth it highly recommend
Awesome experience! Went on a tour with Mr. Komedy and barely noticed 2 hours had passed! He was so great, we didn't want to get off. On the way back, we had Jaime who was also great! Altogether a GREAT experience.
We enjoyed lil Scott's day historic tour. He was very knowledgeable and charismatic. We also did the Telfair ghost tour. Olivia was fantastic. She puts on quite a show. This was the highlight of our weekend. Thanks
Very professional and pleasant. I liked the stops, the punctuality and the entertainment. We did the quick stay on for the full tour. The seats were uncomfortable for that. The tour guide said that the tours weren t scripted and that they did their own research. Though the information was entertaining, I question the accuracy. For example, she said that the statue of John Wesley depicted him w a black book where he kept gossip about Savannah residents, but actually, it was a statue of him preaching w a bible in his hand. His stance is that of a preacher. She also said some things about the original Indians welcoming the settlers. Hum... anyway, if I return, I will try the competing company to compare.
First-very limited parking or you can drive to another of their lots to be picked up. That s if, there is still room to get on with the rest of your group or your spouse. Don t fall for this tour because of the characters . Not worth it. Take the original Old Town Trolley. As we waited & waited for a trolley after lunch, they were all full....the ones we saw. The other trolleys came 3 to our 1 we were waiting on. Also, the first one we were on stalled, and wouldn t start. We had waited about 15 minutes, thinking another one was coming for us....nope. Luckily the one we were on finally started and we were rolling again. None of these are very comfortable. If you are a large person....well..... PLUS! They had out of order signs on their restrooms and we had to cross a busy street to the Visitor center to use theirs. Also...we fell for the combo ticket for the boat tour. Unfortunately no one told us we had to trade in those tickets before trying to board the boat! That was embarrassing after waiting in line only to find out we had to run over to a vendor across River Street to replace our tickets! NEVER NEVER have I been so disappointed in a tour.
We booked this tour on the recommendation of our hotel. A shuttle picked us up from our hotel to take us to the starting point at the Savannah Visitor's Center. The staff at the hotel also recommended that we stay on the hop on/hop off for the first 90 minutes in order to get the full tour from the same guide. We're so glad we did. Our tour guide was excellent! He was very funny and very southern. After that, we hopped on and off with other tour guides that weren't nearly as entertaining. It provided a good overview history of the area and was an easy way to get around on a rainy, cold day.
The only way to see Savannah! Many stops at where tourist (like me) want to see. A nice feature was the actors who came on to tell us about themself and their significance to Savannah.
It is our first stay in Savannah for my wife and I . We chose the on/off tour with your company. At first , we did the 90 minute tour with Wendy. She was very energetic , knowledgeable , and had a great sense of humor. Probably the best guide that we have ever ! Then we walked around sightseeing and used the trolley to navigate around the city. Lastly, catching the trolley back with Dennis, he brought us right to the front door of our hotel. Thanks for the great service at an affordable price. Will recommend your company to my family and friends.
Did this tour today before we left to go home to Columbia. This is something that should be done as soon as you get to town. The on-off tour would probably be better, but considering it was about 3 pm, we opted for the regular tour. Our guide, Steve, was full of knowledge. The actors were a good addition for more history, but are a little silly. Kids would enjoy them, however. Unfortunately, the lady sitting across from me consistently had loud conversation with the people behind her so that I couldn't hear our guide. Steve had to tell her to be quiet MULTIPLE times...even went so far as stopping the bus. Her and her new found friends had a cooler with beer in it and we're drinking on the tour. Not sure if they even asked if it was okay. Steve could've spoke a little louder at times, but was a great guide overall. If you take this tour, please be courteous to those around you and keep talking to a quiet minimum.
The tour itself was a little expensive but was by far the best way to see the city. I didn't know Savannah was such a gorgeous city with such rich history. Our tour guide Steve was knowledgeable, hilarious and even a tad cynical. Me and my wife had an excellent time.
Our driver, Nelson, was superb with great narration during the 2 hour tour. The actors at 3 stops added much color to the experience. We got off at the last stop (#16) and walked around the historic district and back to the tour office.
Took this tour about 3 years ago and it was a lot better. This most recent times the drivers were kind of smart @$$es to a lot if the people. They had snarky replies to questions i noticed quite a few times. Slso found you have to gacy check their stories. I found a few of their stories a little far fetched and sire enough googled and found their info was far from true. You would figure for $60 a pair of tickets ypu would get true facts!
It was very informative. There are 16 stops and they are all well placed. While on the trolley, the drivers know a lot about the city. Our driver was Julie and she was very kind and she knew a lot about the city. A lot of fun for a thing to do during the day and would definitely recommend!
Best tour guide ever Chris Oliver , will be doing it again ,he made the whole trip remarkable, he knows his Savannah and the history behind it ,really enjoyed it thank you ...
Done this tour many times and fully enjoyed, but not tonight. Only two characters jumped on board. Our guide and characters were good, but the food was mediocre hard biscuits greasy jambalaya cold shrimp and as if that wasn't bad enough asked for shrimp sauce wasn't served until most of all my party (7) were half way through dinner.
We did the 2 day on and off tour. We visited the Visitors Center and Museum, the Train Museum, River Street, Forsyth Park, the beautiful cathedral, the Cotton Exchange, several of the squares, the Lady and Sons Restaurant, and The Pirates' House. We rode several different trolleys and each driver had a different point of view. Very informative.
We were supposed to go to Old Town Tours and got hoodwinked to this one because of the similar name and location. The tour guides were kitschy and in most cases downright irritating. The buses did not come as frequently as promised and we frequently saw other tour companies pass us twice while waiting for ours. We were deliberately 'guided' to some pirate-themed tourist trap that we were assured would be worth the stop, then stranded at the terrible place. Poor business practices; don't waste your time or money.
If you EVER need a concierge that goes way above and beyond then you have to use Nicole Wilson!!! This is the amazing surprise my husband and I got when we checked into our hotel..... I couldn t have asked for anything more!!!!!!!! Thank you Nicole for adding that special touch to our weekend!!!!!!
The On/Off Tour with Old Savannah Tours was a fantastic way to take kids to see the city of Savannah and to learn the history. We got on and off several times during the day to explore a couple of sites close-up, and then transferred at the Savannah Visitor's Center to complete the whole tour from start to finish without getting off. The drivers were all very friendly, and each had a slightly different personality/twist to how they presented the various aspects of the history of Savannah and its buildings. We especially enjoyed the characters who temporarily boarded to give a 2-minute living history presentation- fantastic! My kids (upper elementary all the way down through pre-k and toddler), loved the whole tour, and it was a lot of fun to be able to get on and off at the different stops. We were also getting on and off with an umbrella stroller for the baby without any problem. There was a bit of a hang-up at one stop where there were too many people who wanted to get on and not enough seats on the the next trolley. That driver called in, and an empty trolley was sent straight to the stop. The manager (owner?) of the business personally showed up before the empty trolley to make sure everyone got aboard. We saw him again at least one more time as he made sure everything was going smoothly in terms of people having seats to ride. The customer service at their primary terminal was fantastic. We made our reservation for the wrong tour (Historical Overview) on a popular "coupon" website (starts with Group, ends with -on... a website I DO NOT recommend) and the ladies in the terminal were able charge us the difference so that we could ride the On/Off tour. The other trolley company may look a bit more "polished," but don't be fooled by looks! The white trolley company is fantastic. If we have another opportunity to take a trolley tour in Savannah in the future, we will definitely return to Old Savannah Tours, and will be recommending them to others, as well. Currently there is a $3 off coupon on the downtown map that you can pick up at the Savannah Visitors Center, located at Liberty/MLK Blvd. Our final tour ride was with Mike and Ethyl. Mike did a great job on the history, and Ethyl was fantastic at maneuvering through the "rush-hour" traffic.
Thank you Old Savannah Tours for a memorable day in historic Savannah!!!
I accidentally booked with Old Savannah Tours thinking it was the other tour agency. So at the beginning was a little disappointed. Once the tour commenced my disappointment quickly faded. Horizon our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of Savannah and made the tour extremely enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour and definitely try and get Horizon she will make your tour so much more enjoyable.
A fantastic way to enjoy the historic, and ped/art districts. I spent 6 hours on a Saturday doing to hop on and off option. I ran out of time and really only explored the first half of 16 stops. As a history lover I cld definitely have done 2 days worth. The staff is all very helpful. It's easy to just remember where you got off, get yourself back any time, and within 10 mins you wave at the next white trolley coming by. The tour guides were all fantastic with their stories, and hospitality. The 16 stops are the same no matter which company you go with, as they can only stop at those approved by the city. Go, learn, enjoy!!!
This was the best thing I spend money on. Get the two day pass and save on the extra any museum stops. They stop at all the important spots and other areas are extremely walkable
