Great location and fabulous restaurant. Staff excellent. Only reason it does not get a 5 star is that the rooms allow a good bit of noise from adjacent rooms and those on the floor above. Not a complaint, but the nature of an old warehouse structure. If you want tomblike quite check into a modern sterile environment hotel. Old 77 just exudes character.

Love this place and stay here every time I'm in NOLA. You can stay in a big box hotel in Cleveland or Hartford...but when you come to NOLA, please stay in a local joint. Great vibe, great ambiance. You won't be disappointed.

Honestly one of the worst hotels I stayed at. I arrive on my first night and a police is arresting someone from inside the building. The valet is $42/night and they don t tell you that until you call. It just states there is valet. The lobby was cool. I walk up to the concierge desk and the gentleman in front of me and behind me are in suits... I am not because I drove 8 hours so I wanted to be comfortable. The man working the front desk looked me up and down as if I didn t belong there and was rude when he greeted me. They then asked for my card, and pre charged it $60 something in case I used the goodies they had displayed in my room. I get my keys go to the elevator (there are only 4 floors) the elevator felt like it was about to fall at any given moment. It took a minute to get up to the 4th floor and I step out of the elevator and there are stains all over the blue hallway carpet. I get to my room and there isn t even a window! It was like a little dungeon with industrial decor. I showered and continued on with my evening for a rehearsal dinner. I get back to the hotel around 11pm and I have to scan in with my card for the main entry and the front desk let s you in, expect I waited outside for 15 minutes for someone to let me in bc there was nobody behind the desk. Finally upon departure I left 4 hours early. I get home and my card is charged $15. I call and ask what it was for and they said guest amenities which also was not stated I d be charged for that. Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied for the amount of money I spent on this hotel. Poor customer service and quality overall. Will not recommended nor will I return.

I wish I had gotten the ladies names that work the mid/later afternoon on Saturday, August 30th because they would get the AWARD for customer service. Ok, so they are in the midst of construction and things aren't as aesthetically pleasing as one might hope for but for an older building in the heart of the warehouse district the Ambassador Hotel NOLA is not just a beautiful stay but has the HEART of the staff beating within. I did not encounter one, not one single staff member that did not have a smile on their face, a "good morning/afternoon, may I help you with something?" or just an over all greeting of how your day/stay was going and in the bigger "chain" hotels, most of the time like with big banks, they don't even know you're associated with them. Not only did the staff recognize me each day of my stay but when a "faux paux" of miscommunication happened and my stay was not reserved as long as I though it was, long story short, I didn't have a place to stay my last night, they not only went out of their way to help secure me a place to stay my last night in NOLA but went so far as to walk next door to the Staybridge Suites (a competitor, mind you) to see if they might have a room available for me. THAT, is customer service. The two ladies behind the Ambassador's front desk were apologetic, kind and CARING in the misunderstanding but went the extra mile to not just make sure their guest was happy...but had a place to stay my last night in NOLA. I would recommend AHNOLA to everyone that visit's this great city. Amazing location, prices are super reasonable but the STAFF...the staff made me feel I was "home". Thank you AHNOLA for making what could have been a very stressful "issue" into something that didn't even make a difference in the 5 minutes it took for your staff to take charge and show their customers they are more than just a reservation/confirmation number, they are people. These ladies deserve more than just a "thank you" for the corporation, they deserve recognition and, in my opinion, a place on some board in training the staff in how one not just treats the guest, but makes the guest feel "at home." A big, big, BIG "thank you". Ladies that worked that afternoon........your hearts are pure gold and thank you, thank you, thank you for making my issue, yours. Sincerely and grateful, W C Bench of Austin TX.

My wife and I had drink and dinner here tonight and we were very impressed. Food was excellent, original and it was a pleasant treat.... from all the fried food restaurants. Service was the best. Better than we receive up north in chicago or Minneapolis. Keep up the good mentioning to the staff. Highly recommend this experience if you are looking for an original dining tour of the chefs design.

On a recent trip to New Orleans we decided to say at the Old No. 77, and we were not disappointed. The hotel has maintained the charm of the old coffee warehouse even throughout the rooms. We were upgraded upon arrival to a King room and found it to be extremely clean and well kept.

All of the staff were very professional and helpful, especially with recommendations for nearby places to eat or visit. All of the valet staff were very friendly and always willing to help, especially Ray, Demond, and Sean.

The restaurant had an impressive menu (yes there were some priceier items; however, cheap compared to some of the other surrounding restaurants). We did only eat breakfast at the hotel as there were some other nearby restaurants on our must-eat list but were not disappointed.

Overall, we are definitely planning another trip to New Orleans and would love to be staying with the Old No. 77 again!

Checking out tomorrow. Front Desk and Door men are wonderful. Room service is the worse food and most expensive ever!! half chicken on their menu ended up being the smallest chicken thigh you'd ever see. Terrible!
Will never stay here again.

Poor quality rooms, service, and cleanliness, and they have a lousy breakfast menu with sky high charges. On top of that they will rip you off with a $5 extra fee that would be a surprise for you in your bill. Avoid the place at all costs. I was there for two nights and will never go back to this hotel.

EDIT 6/17/18:

EDIT 6/17/18:
Stayed here almost a month ago. Charged for the ENTIRE mini bar in the room, already spoke with hotel and they stated the charges would be removed, as they were charged apparently automatically. (I guess no one bothered to, or failed to verify the contents of the fridge in our room after we checked out.) So until the charges are resolved this review is going from a 4 to 1 star.
Will attempt to contact the hotel, and booking company to refund the charges. If I have to dispute the charge with my credit card company, the review will stay at a 1.

It's pretty nice inside. Lots of updated lighting fixtures and soft lighting throughout. Concierge was friendly at all times. Restuarant closes at 10, but there were still people in there at midnight, so idk what that's about. Mini bar and snacks left as incidentals, as well as $50 for restuarant and bar. Charged for them automatically when we didn't even use anything, had to call to refund, you think they would at least check, seems scammy. Room was quiet, lots of channels on TV, nice beds and linens. Furniture was funky/hipster kinda stuff, but functional so it tied together well. Overall fairly nice. Just check your final charges for any "mistakes" . And try to find this place for as cheap as possible. Paid $150 night on one website when I found it for $95 on another a few days before.
Location is pretty good though. Half a mile from Burbon street. Hop-On-Hop-Off bus tour just around the corner.

VANTRELL VANTRELL VANTRELL! We have stayed at a few great hotels in New Orleans it's always you seen one you've seen them all but the customer service is what brings you back. Stayed at the Royal sonesta which is 5 stars as multiple others but the service was not the same. Im a stickler for service VANTRELL greater us each time by name and addressed everything. I pulled up and said ugh it's the ambassador hotel where have stayed and service was horrible, so glad we decided to stay.

Pack a flashlight! This is a very "green" hotel that doesn't believe in providing enough light to allow you to see what's in your suitcase. Additionally, you will hear every footstep above your room. Clean? Not sure. It was dark, but there was glitter on the floor of my room, probably left over from Mardi Gras. On the up side, the doormen are worthy of five stars. The bar staff is top-notch and the restaurant is wonderful.

This is the second time staying at the Old No. 77 ...

This is the second time staying at the Old No. 77 and I was, unfortunately, let down this time around.

This first time staying we were put in a beautiful, bright room, one that I really looked forward to this time around. This time, however, we we're put in one of the rooms without a window. Something that left me pretty disappointed.

We made reservations for Compere Lepin on the Thursday night of our stay. I was only able to get a reservation for 9:00 PM, something that didn't bother me since it was such a highly regarding the restaurant and I was thrilled to be able to get in. We arrived at 8:55 and checked in with the hostess. The male working the stand was a bit rude and advised us that we would be seated closer to our reservation (we were 5 minutes early?) and that due to a television show being filmed it would be longer. Honestly, it was a bit obnoxious of an answer. I realize I don't have my own show on PBS, but I'm still a guest of the hotel. We didn't end up being seated until after 9:15, and it put a damper on the whole meal.

My final complaint has to do with an incident that occurred at our room after dinner. Around 11:30 PM, my girlfriend and I were jolted awake by either a drunk guest or someone that wasn't staying at our hotel rattling our doorknob and banging on our door. Not exactly what you're hoping for while you're sleeping. This happened 3 additional times. We called down to the front in hopes that they would send someone up. They said they would and followed up with a phone call, informing us that they couldn't find anyone wondering around on our floor.

Positives: The hotel itself is an awesome property, I had no second thoughts on where I wanted to stay when I came back to New Orleans this time around. The baristas working the coffee bar in the morning are awesome as well.

Overall: It's a great property. Some minor things that added up to me rethinking where I'll stay next time in New Orleans.

I stayed here 5/15 to 5/18/19, booked an amazing $77 deal for an inside room /no window...I say WHO CARES!! I loved the room, esp for that insane price! In the CBD/Warehouse District? At an upscale hotel? YES PLEASE! Had a nice breakfast/coffee at Tout La, never ate in the restaurant.
Everything was great...the staff is wonderful and will go out of their way for you. Especially Ray the valet, he's a gem and will offer help/recommendations if you need them ( I didn't, knew the city pretty well). I loved the decor of the hotel, natural brick and wood contributes to the charm. And creaky floors are part of the ambiance! Bed was comfortable, pillows great.
The location is perfect, enough off of Canal to be quiet, just don't get a room on the side next to Barcadia, that place is crazy noisy on the weekends. I was staying alone as I was in town to see shows at The Fillmore and it was a safe, easy walk each night.
Highly recommend Old No. 77 Hotel and its team!

I like the Warehouse District, but this wasn't convenient even by WD standards. Walls are paper thin and the floors aren't carpeted, and the noise was terrible. Woken up and kept awake 2 nights in a row. When I complained to the desk, she shrugged and offered me tokens for a free coffee--no apologies. There are dozens of better, cheaper hotels in NOLA.

It has a great location close to French quarters. Unfortunately, there is not very good service and there are untrained housekeeping staff. We were three people and they each day removed the extra blanket we had requested. Besides, it was random how many towels we got. It seemed very disorganized and unprofessional unfortunately.
Furthermore, the room we had was without windows, which unfortunately is also a big minus. It is not a place I / we would recommend.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is you could hear everything outside your door from the hall way. Very loud above when kids run. Then the dang maid kept knocking and waking me up. Like she was so eager to clean the room and I should be up. Just because it's quiet in the room doesn't mean we not there! Geez!

Overall, 77 is a great hotel for the price. It is close enough to all of the staple New Orleans destinations, as well as being far enough away to offer some privacy from all of the conundrum. The WiFi is pretty good not great, but the hotel staff is phenomenal; they have been kind and courteous each step of the way. The aesthetic of the hotel is also one-of-a-kind, which just heightens the experience. I would certainly stay here again.

Old No 77 is located in the CBD / Central Business...

Old No 77 is located in the CBD / Central Business District in New Orleans. It's a short walk or ride to almost anywhere in the city including the French Quarter or the New Orleans Convention Center. They have a multitude of great bars and restaurants within walking distance. There is also a bar and restaurant in the hotel. Works of several Artist may also be viewed in the hallway.

Now to the hotel it's self. There is no lack of historical charm to the decor. The building was built in the 1850's as a coffee and tobacco warehouse. The rooms are nice and roomy and ours had an original old wood / original floor and painted brick walls. The only bad thing is, CHECK IN, is at 4 pm. We arrived at 430 our room was not ready until almost 600. That did put us behind a bit for the evening. PARKING, is going to cost you upwards of 45 bucks a day and that's using the pay lot across the street or the hotels valet. HOWSKEEPING, is also not top notch. The sound run the vacuum in the corridors and halls more often. Infact while we were there, they were (only one night) not cleaned. COFFEE SHOP, in the lobby is going to hit you for 3.95 plus a tip for regular black coffee (it's very good) and specialties will hit you for more. There is no coffee in the rooms. Over all not a bad place but to me a bit pricey for what you get. I have stayed in at least two dozen hotels in the CBD and French Quarter over the years. I know what to look for and what you should expect for the money.

LOVED this historical/modern hotel! I am always on the lookout for funky boutique hotels everywhere I go and this has been my favorite so far. All the charm of a historic building with very modern decor. The service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were also top notch.

DO NOT STAY HERE- If I could give this NO stars, I would. I have never had such a terrible experience and am not one to be picky about my hotel stay. My experience at the Ambassador Hotel was unsettling. Many problems arose during my stay which I understand can happen at any hotel. The problem was in the staff and management of this hotel. Hotel staff were very rude and did not seem to care about my concerns. A customer friendly hotel will make sure you leave satisfied and I can say that this hotel did not make these efforts. The front desk staff told me they could not do anything about my problems regarding my hotel stay. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told the manager would not be in all weekend. The fact that the manager does not frequent the hotel on the weekend of the Jazz Festival tells me how much this manager cares about their business. Getting a hold of the right person was impossible and I left extremely unsatisfied.

I want to let people know to not stay here as the pictures/descriptions do not properly depict what your room will look like. I was over-charged for a room that was not what I was paying for. I spent over 300$ a night to stay in what looked like a run-down motel with no window and a glass door to the hallway that let a lot of light through during the night. Awful experience. In my opinion, this hotel is using false advertisement.

There are plenty of other great hotels that my co-workers were staying at that I am including below:
-Hotel Monteleone
-Renaissance
-Hilton

Definitely a very cool building & room but don't think I'd return. The walls are thin and you can hear EVERYTHING (from conversations to cars on the road to toilets flushing). The bed is very firm but the pillows are nice. Needless to say, between the hard bed & noise, we didn't get a good night sleep either of the two nights we were here. Room was spacious & had interesting decor.

Now on to the bathroom... does vintage = dirty? Apparently at the Old 77 it does. Should have brought my shower shoes!

Disappointed there was no coffee maker or microwave in the room but the coffee downstairs is phenomenal (but also $6).

I like that you can opt out of housekeeping for a mini bar credit. Too bad the M&Ms were stale.

A little spendy for what you get, all things considered.

The hotel is decorated to give a warehouse/industrial vibe and it works. The trouble is that the investments seem to have been only made on asthetic items, our room had very little water pressure, you could hear a rodent below the floor and only one elevator was working during our stay. That said the restaurant which is in the building but with no affiliation with the hotel was exceptional.

I stayed at the old 77 for a conference and was delighted with both the size and decor of the rooms. There is an absurd amount of high-quality food nearby and a lot of walkable attractions. If you we're planning on attending a conference in downtown New Orleans I would recommend checking out this hotel as opposed to the ones next to the conference center

We were excited about staying at a quaint hotel close to the French Quarter during our recent trip to New Orleans. What we arrived to was a mess. The hotel is under construction. When checking in, I specifically asked if the noise from the construction would be heard from our rooms as well, and I was assured there would be no noise. Well, there was no construction noise, but the rest was terrible! On Saturday morning, I was awakened by the extremely loud 2 way radio communication coming from the laundry room next door to my room. The room upstairs sounded like it was in my room. I heard every whisper, every foot step, every bump! I'm told they also heard us! The doormen were smoking at the front door and the check-in lobby was tiny. The only good thing I will say about this hotel was the concierge at the visitors desk. He was professional, professionally dressed, and very helpful. On check-out, we were also charged an additional $19.90 for the "Value Added Package", which was not on the original charges for the room. I still don't know what that "Value" was. We have traveled quite a bit, from Chicago, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, as well as Louisiana. This stay was really disappointing I will not recommend it to anyone.

I did not know the hotel was undergoing renovation, so when I walked in, I was very surprised at the look of the lobby and not in a good way. However, the staff was very friendly and professional, and made my experience pleasant. I went during Mardi Gras and paid a reasonable price. The room was a combination between old and new and I found it very clean and comfortable. Overall, a good experience. The hallways could use some decoration, to make them more welcoming. I'm sure once the renovation is complete the hotel will be fantastic.

Rooms: newly renovated, stylish, luxurious, spacious, and VERY comfortable.

Service: outstanding! We have never experienced such an accommodating team. Many thanks to everyone!

Other:
- the wifi could not have been easier to access and it was plenty fast for our purposes (up to and including occasional music/video streaming).
- the hotel has done well to achieve luxury and comfort in an aesthetic that is appropriate for the warehouse district.
- breakfast was standard (fruit, yogurts, baked sweats/muffins/bagels/bread, cereals, and coffee...not sure if I am missing anything)

(Aside: we knew in advance that the hotel's lounge was under renovation and the price seemed to reflect this abnormal circumstance, so I did not mark this against the hotel. To be honest, we did not find ourselves inconvenienced by the renovations, but someone expecting an all-in-one hotel/lounge might.)

I felt compelled to share this review since I was surprised ratings were so high and figured there was some missing information. Yes, the Old 77 is charming, but it s also impossible to sleep in. It was by far the creakiest hotel, maybe building, that I ve ever been in. The floorboards in my room were so loud from creaking, I was actually laughing from embarrassment. A short walk to the bathroom would wake my boyfriend, and even a shift in my weight while standing created a startling noise. More, the people above me had the same situation, so I could hear them walking back and forth all night. It was so bad that I was embarrassed to even walk around in fear of bothering the people below us and beelined out the door the next morning (with very little sleep) as soon as possible. More to note, we were right outside the cleaning staffs closet and the ice machine and definitely heard loud conversations from the staff starting from 7am on. We were booked for two more nights, but turned down an upgrade and asked for a full refund the next morning. Neither one of us were willing to take a chance on another room.

I've been enjoying my stay at the Old 77. My room feels spacious, and the beds are comfortable. There is a safe in the room, and a mini bar, which I have been using to keep leftovers and snacks purchased from the nearby grocery store, Rouses. I couldn't do five stars because this converted coffee warehouse is awful to navigate. The halls wind all over the place and make finding your room or a non-emergency exit a real challenge. There was also construction that started after my arrival, so that changed my exit strategy too. I also would have liked a coffee maker in the room, and a full bathtub - though it was a very nice shower. The staff were a mixed bag. There was no one at the desk when I arrived, and I had to ask someone from the restaurant to help me find someone to check me in. She was very rushed, and spoke so quickly, I don't even know what she said. Another woman I spoke with later was super helpful though, and gave me good recommendations for the area. The hotel is mindful of conservation and offers a small incentive to guests with longer stays who make green choices. I still have a few nights left here, but so far I'm pretty pleased and would stay again.
