Great location in the middle of the city downtown area, nice rooms as at all Marriott's, restaurant has great food though a bit pricy, parking is biggest issue, hard to access and very very expensive.

Full service Marriott hotel in downtown Oakland, adjacent to Convention/Civic Center, close to city hall, government buildings. Convenient location, easily accessible, public transportation nearby - BART & buses. Parking for a fee. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, Chinatown.

I was billed a certain amount and I've had three hold charges on my credit card so far, they are over $75 more than the rink amount so far.

There were also two emergency alarms while we were there, they wouldn't tell us what the problem was, but we walked down 15 flights of stairs twice; once right after got there and I've just before 8am

The room was fine, the people were nice, but the experience was sub-part for us

New rooms but significantly worst experience

Good attention from the staff but the hotel is not a good option for business travelers, they don't have safe boxes in the room, no room service and believe it or not, they don't have a blender in the kitchen. I asked for a medicine to be blended in water, not an option, they don't have one. I'm surprised that the Marriot chain is moving in this direction, they are usually really good

We visited La Fontana Before a night in the Grand Theater. The food was exceptional and the waiter was very welcoming and friendly. We'd definitely return and would recommend this restaurant to some other people that like us on a night out and uncertain about where to eat

I've been coming to this Marriott for years and it's steadily gotten better. The restaurant on site is delicious (but expensive), the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the concierge lounge is pretty well stocked -- and has plenty of space to work if you're looking to get out of the room (plenty of outlets too).

The room was very nice and clean. We had a corner room on a high floor and the city views at night were spectacular. The bedroom and bathroom are very modern. There were even USB ports and power outlets over the night stands.

When I checked in this hotel, the front desk told me we have free room wifi by this morning. But my credit card has been deducted $14.95 by this evening.I asked my bank actually this amount from this Marriott hotel right away. I was confused with this amount to ask front desk how they came up this fee. This Marriott was not informed me to charge this room Wifi fee before.Coz I haven t any consumption in this hotel, except for deposit they charged it. I am so disappointed with this. I really don t know why?! I stayed in other Oakland courtyard hotel yesterday for 2 nights, I have free room WiFi during these days.Right now every hotel has free room wifi in around world. Why this hotel has been charged it.

I came here for a work event, and the employees here are super nice!! The layout was a little confusing and I got lost trying to find the conference room. However, an employee of the hotel saw me and helped me! They do have a parking garage but it's a bit expensive.

The service of booking, check-in and check-out were good. However,
we had an incident after check-out and realized that we left an oil diffuser inside the room. Therefore we called back twice right away and left voice message twice but there was no response at all. Called again on Mon, still the same. Finally, on Tues, I called and someone picked the phone and promised me he will check the room. After waiting for 45 minutes, I called back again and was told they could not find the oil diffuser. I am very disappointed and sad. If they would able to help me on Sat, I should still able to get my X'mas gift back.

It may not be all their fault for the 1 star; Hertz shares in this bad review too. Marriott you need better customer service, signage and security. When returning rentals on weekends beware their's know one to help you at the hotel.

Well renovated hotel with spacious rooms comfortable sofa in most of rooms. They bathrooms are smaller. Spring beds were okay.

Good breakfast in morning. Spacious fitness center. Their wallet is a bit expensive. Front desk staff is really friendly and courteous.

Room was nice, but it is surprising how they don't have free wifi. They also charged the wrong credit card even though they said they would charge the correct one.

Editing to 1 star, because their management is extremely unorganised and haven't charged the correct card and refunded the original card, despite what they claimed to have done.

At the Marriott Hotel downtown Oakland I happen to do the construction work with my partner and I back when it was being built we did all the columns that you see surrounding the Marriott. They have wonderful events at the Marriott

Really enjoyed my stay here, the staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful from the front desk to the housekeepers and bellmen. Also it was a very convenient location for Oakland! Near Chinatown and Jack London Square for great food and activities.

As implied by the name of the place, it's a centrally located hotel that's within short walking distance of many restaurants and cafes. The lobby and rooms are clean and comfy. Valet is a bit expensive, but professional and efficient. I'd recommend staying at this hotel if you have business or other obligations in Oakland.

This location is conveniently located with easy access to the freeway. The staff have not been very friendly though. I was also a little disappointed in the room. The bathroom door in my room has been painted so many times that it sticks when it's closed and it takes a significant amount of force to get it open. I do enjoy all of the outlets located conveniently around the room.

I had a great stay at this hotel up until the end. I checked out early in the am on Nov 7 to catch a flight around 6 am. Once I got the Oakland airport (15 min away) I realized I left my blanket in my room. I immediately called the front desk explaining the situation no later than 30 minutes after checkout. The front desk rep, Alex, said he sent two housekeeping folks to check the room and they couldn't find it. I KNEW I left the blanket there, so I asked them to check again. Still nothing. I decided to call again later in the afternoon. I gave a very detailed description of the blanket. It was a yellow and black handmade blanket with a portrait of Frida Kahlo. They checked again and said there was nothing there. At this point, I'm sure the blanket may have been stolen, so I asked the housekeeping manager, John, to launch an investigation with the loss prevention team. I kid you not, 30 seconds later, John miraculously finds the blanket. He says that I gave him the wrong room #. 1) I had the correct room # because I still had my key card slip with me. 2) How many yellow and black Frida Kahlo blankets are lounging around at the Oakland Marriott City Center? This staff is completely dishonest and unprofessional.

Very accomodating & customer service oriented. Loved that Chinatowna was within walking distance. Lots of convenience within a few blocks - walgreens, local bus stops, BART, various food, & even a thrift store ;)

Hotel is quite busy, but that stuff work to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I thought that the food provided during the conference was great. There is room for improvement with Wi-Fi, which is the reason for a four-star rating

The rooms were nice and there was plenty of space. The food at the hotel was pricy and room service although listed does not actually exist. If you want to get your dinner yourself and bring it back that's the option.

This location had one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in while staying in a hotel. The city view was so pretty from our room. We had a decent variety of places to walk to that eliminated the need for a car.

Marriott City Center is what is expect from a seasoned Marriott. Fitness and business centers, restaurant, pool and bar on site. Clean linens and comfy bed are guaranteed. The bathroom has limited ventilation so the heat and moisture accumulate during a shower, high humidity if you're one for long hit showers. The sink gurgled when another room was running water. Valet was $50/night and self park is available. If you have a vehicle and want to risk street parking, the city charges 8am-6pm and there are many open spots at night. Located in downtown Oakland, with many, many bars and restaurants in walking distance and the Jack London district an unsettling 5 minute walk under the freeway overpass. Don't be scared and if you are, don't come to Oakland.
