Clean but disappointed that you cannot access the lounge/M Club past 10pm to grab a water or soda. What's the point of staying at this location if they dont treat you like the other Marriotts treat their top tier.

Best known jewel In Oakland California. Many of us have represented this venue for decades and patronize it's glamor with fond memories. It is centrally located to all ones needs music, shows, Lake Merritt, Host of Restaurants, China Town....it's has always been a diverse community with profound history.

Nice refurbished updated room. Executive lounge snacks had a little to be desired, but overall fine hotel experience. (Be prepared to pay $40 to park your car.) Great location if attending conference or have business in downtown oakland.

It's in the heart of down town where you can get to everything. Minutes from SF if you want to hang out there. I love the lounge and the renovation of the rooms hotel, very chic. They need to update a few of there bath tubs but overall its awesome. I'd suggest signing up for the rewards program, its impeccable . The staff there are AWESOME!!

3 stars cuz for being Marriott I expected more. No water in my room, not enough coffee amenities. I spoke with Tony downstairs greeter. He been there 30yrs! He was friendly. Awesome spirits great to talk with! Because of Tony, they get 3 stars!

A nice hotel, but expensive. There is only one restaurant, it has nothing for kids. Parking is $40 a day, even for guests, and they don't have any rooms with a door separating the sleeping area, so difficult with small ones. But the staff is great, and if you go for the food, it tastes fantastic.

Great stay in downtown Oakland.

Great stay in downtown Oakland.

Have been here many many times. Each visit is unique.

Have watched Occupy Oakland from the check in desk and then on CNN when I got up to my room.

Always an adventure.

Staff is friendly. Lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance.

This hotel is really expensive. They charge you for everything. 6 dollars for a bottle of water. 45 dollars to park per day. And 10 dollars per day for basic internet or 15 for high-speed. It feels like a place frozen in time. The decor of the rooms feels dated. Mind you I do love that they have us chargers all over the room and the HDMI input jack is accessible and usable. But for what you pay for a basic room there are other hotels in the area that could offer the same experience for far less. Marriott should not put there name on this building or service.

Short stay because we had to get up early for the first annual Oakland Gran Fondo. Room was clean, beds were super comfy. The view of downtown Oakland and the Tribune building at night was phenomenal. Really close to Jack London and bart. Great hotel, great location.

Worst experience EVER!!! My friend and I visited 5 cities in 4 days and had a great time, until we checked in here on our last night. We reserved the room 3 days in advanced and requested 2 doubles. When we arrived (tired and ready to relax), we were told there were only kings available, doubles had been sold out a week prior. Confused as to why this had not been communicated to us. One of us had to sleep on a rollaway bed at this 200.00+/a night hotel! I WILL NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER MARRIOTT HOTEL. Oh, but the guy at the front desk offered to give us each a coupon for a free drink at the bar. I guess that was supposed to make up for it.

This is a nice hotel that is not quite affordable. But you get what you pay for.... The downside is the street parking in this neighborhood sucks. You never can sit down and relax for very long because you will absolutly lose your vehicle if you are not constantly checking the limited time parking meters here.

Great hotel. Very nice front desk personnel, front doormen, views of the city, overall atmosphere. Definitely worth the stay. The rooms are big, clean, and quiet! Everything is pretty much on Broadway, so to Uber would be a very low price. Definitely worth the stay and would visit here again.

Super comfortable, clean and stylish rooms. Stayed here with my son for Genesis, a huge gaming tournament/convention. Really impressed at how the staff kindly and courteously handled 3,000 gamer kids in their hotel for three full days. Hope to be back again next year!

Fast check-in, friendly staff, clean rooms and bathrooms. The lobby area is a bit worn out and doesn't look great, but the rooms are much better and clearly renovated more recently. The club lounge is one of the best and more spacious that I've ever seen, though alcohol is not included and paid separately. If you're on a high floor the views are pretty nice, too.
