Well connected to SF with the Bart a step away. Nice hotel. Clean and not too expensive (compared to SF)
Stayed for two nights while attending a conference in downtown Oakland. The location is great, right next to the Bart station. Friendly staff, newly renovated rooms, and a great M club and lounge for Elite members. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.
Nice new Marriott with very small guest rooms. Food and drink was good & internet was relatively fast. M Club lounge is comfortable and had good food & drink choices. Staff was friendly.
It was busy, but the employees took care of that. No one looked unsatisfied.
Restroom is hard to fine. Though the staffs were helpful in leading me to a working restroom.
The Oakland Marriott City Center serves as an excellent base of operations for exploring the Bay Area. It sits within walking distance of both Jack London Square and the newly revitalized Oakland Downtown, with BART directly accross the street. While on the pricey side, it's location allows you yo easily explore all that the area has to offer.
Had a business meeting at this location. From the short time I was there, the staff was over and beyond courteous. I will definitely stay there outside of business.
The service was wonderful and the bed was so soft.. clean and quiet. A nice getaway from home and great for conferences
Nice place. Toilet paper is in a weired spot in the bathroom however. Have to pay A LOT for the Internet per day. Other than that very nice!
Julia provided me with top notch service. Keep her happy otherwise you are missing out. Never let this women go. The rooms and service were awesome. The only negative I have is smelling weed periodically through out the hotel walking by rooms and sometimes the elevator. I don t blame the hotel I blame guests but what can you do.
Great service at check in.Terrible service at the bar. Sat and waited for 35 minutes and gave up.
The rooms are nicely updated and staff are helpful and friendly. The location is central to everything as the name suggests. Two complaints: 1. The room was way too warm and the thermostat only dispensed more heat. Sure it was a little cool outside, but not cool enough to warrant the heater. If you sleep well in cooler temperatures as I do, you may suffer through it or make a stink downstairs to have them lay off on the heat. Turning it off provided modest relief. 2. They'll try to charge you $15/day for WiFi, which is appalling today. Are they taking cues from airlines? This kind of nickel and diming cheapens the experience for sure. The workaround is to sign up for their free rewards program which you're prompted to do in trying to connect. However, it's not immediately clear if that prevents the fees.
Oakland Marriott City Center (a Union hotel) is a mid-century styled establishment that is beautiful maintained. The well trained staff is most professional. On check-in we were given two bottles of water and a couple of bags of popcorn.
The contemporary room, on the eleventh floor, is both spacious and comfortable. Lots of seating, including a chaise lounge. The TV is huge. The view of the port and downtown Oakland is spectacular. I do not have a fear of falling, but the full length windows make me a bit uncomfortable. Closing the sheer drapes, provides a feeling of safety and at the same time allows dramatic view of downtown Oakland. Of course, there are also black out curtains.
The king size bed is comfortable. A neatly camouflaged refrigerator is included. All the standard amenities, coffee and brewer, hair dryer, iron with ironing board, and bottles of personal products are included. The bathroom is tight. Everything works. There are two mirrors available in the room, a full length mirror, just before you leave the room, and a mirror over the sink. Lighting is adequately bright. The LED strip, built into the shelf above the bed, provides romantic lighting. A small, sliding door closet is equipped with a safe.
We stopped for a snack at the "Iron & Oak Restaurant." Located on the second floor of the hotel, the spacious seating and comfortable, well padded, oversized chairs take some of the pain away from the long convention day. Shafi, our waiter, is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There is a limited choice of vegan items. I choose a vegan brown rice bowl. The rice is mixed with steamed veggies, pickled red onions and topped with mildly spicy red sauce. It is suprisingly good.
The elevator service is fast. All public areas are wheelchair accessible. Coffee is available, but no coffee drinks are served. Parking is very expensive.
Kind, professionl staff ready to tend to your every request. Beautiful rooms with the usual amenities, including HDTV and free toiletries. Close to the 12th Street BART station for easy access to surrounding areas such as downtown San Francisco.
The food was ok, but overpriced. The service was also a bit slow. I got fish and chips, and while the fries were ok the fish was not very good.
Great location near lots of dining options. Friendly staff. Hotel is a little noisy internally (ie ability to hear normal sounds from other rooms) but it wasn't overly bothersome.
Easy check in, staff is very helpful and accommodating
Nice rooms. No locks on the bathroom doors though. Exactly the place to stay at when visiting San Francisco
Great place for events and really close to convention center
Location worked well with my business meetings. There is a food court with many options that are about a 2 min walk. The rooms were spacious and the staff were courteous
The concierge was very helpful. They suggested great restaurants nearby and were very professional and courteous. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable.
Room smelled of nicotine, the express check in took longer than usual check in. All around a sad corporate vibe and mediocre service.
$40 to park? No. Just no. I don't care how nice the rooms are I'm not paying $40 a day to park.
Beautiful, clean rooms and great views. Location is very close to many bars and restaurants. Front desk upgraded us from 4th to 10th floor!
Great hotel with comfortable rooms. Wonderful customer service. Will definitely be back and would recommend to someone coming to the area.
This was the most comfortable hotel bed on which I have ever slept. The staff were amazing, too!
The rooms are comfortable, but the walls are a little thin. There's a nice workout room. However, the pool isn't the greatest, but it'll do if you want a quick swim. There's no hot tub. The staff is very courteous. It's located in a good part of Oakland and is easy to get around by walking or catching the BART. I'd recommend it.
My wife reserved our room online for a room king-sized bed and when we checked in they had us set for a room with two queens. She had them change it when we checked in but the room they gave us was ADA (handicap) complaint. The bed was too close to the floor, the closet was too low for us and a few other things that would be excellent for a person in a wheelchair. Our problem is those things made it a bit uncomfortable for us. My thoughts are since we checked in later in the day they gave away our room.
I went to the Oakland Marriott City Center for the Oakland Running Festival expo. It was very east to get to, just a block from the closest Bart station. Clear signage made it easy to find the particular expo I was looking for, as well as restrooms and water afterward.
The fish and chips were so solid. Very professional service and my room was fantastic.
Great hotel and view. Not such a good area to be walking outside of the hotel at night.
Stayed here for Muktamar. The location is near BART station
Chris Sullivan really has done a superb job getting his staff to become true Ambassadors for the city of Oakland. The front desk & the housekeeping staff are world class. The security can be somewhat aggressive at times, but that's what it sometimes needs in downtown Oakland.
The location is in downtown and there are numerous conference rooms and ballrooms which make having large events possible. One of the escalators was out of service. It didn't impact me, but there are also elevators.
Not designed to handle large crowds. The elevators to the top meeting rooms are small and slow.
Met with a colleague to discuss business. Central location and welcoming environment. Great business hotel.
Easy to walk to Jack London Square, great location..rental car on location
Very comfortable rooms. Parking is available but pricey.
The service is great. My only complaint is the bathroom. The shower was dingy and didn't match the rest of the room. Other than that it was great.
Staff are great, security is attentive and friendly. Recommended highly.
Nice rooms, no paper or pen,
clean lobby. Short staffed on vallets and bell hops.
Bay view was great, crispy chicken wings were just that. Top notch service.
My stay at the Oakland Mariott City Center has been pleasant. The staff is helpful and friendly, I feel comfortable coming to them any issues. The rooms are clean and well kept, but I do wish they had travel-sized face wash in their hotel store because I'm from out of state and don't want to buy regular-sized face wash because I won't be able to take it with me on the plane.
Stayed at this hotel a few times, you won't be writing home about the most amazed experience or the quirkiness but in my experience you'll get a decent sized room with comfortable beds and on higher floor, a good view of the bay. This is a Marriot so it is a standard fare, but we liked it.
Parking is not free, WiFi is not free, the 2 water bottles in the room is not free
Service was good. Surprisingly packed on Saturday night.
Great for conventions convenient location with the parking. Parking is super expensive if you are not staying at the hotel.
Updated hotel with your standard amenities. Good friendly staff. Free water would be nice though.
View from the room was great. Checking in was as quick as as I have ever experienced in a hotel. Service is top-notch
Great and very professional customer service!
I was supposed to stay in this place for two nights and booked using e-certificate and points. However my plans have changed and I had to move to another city. Because e-certificate was involved, I could not just change my reservation and thought it was lost. However Yellena and Sue from reception went far beyond to help me resolving that issue. They have taken care of making all necessary phone calls and figuring out right way to solve the problem. Good service is a big dial for me when I choose hotel to stay. Marriott is defiantly on top.
Room was clean and nice. Hotel is great. The hotel location is not very pleasant.
Enjoyed our stay, hotel is clean, staff friendly, comfortable beds, great location downtown Oakland! Will definitely return!
Grand ballroom is very large. Staff is very friendly and professional.
Nice rooms and view of old Oakland. Strange noise coming from the pipes though.
We had a fantastic stay, the hotel is very clean and modern and the staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you.
BEAUTIFUL HOTEL...VERY COMFORTABLE AND THE STAFF ARE VERY NICR
Pretty beautiful views from this hotel room. Comfy bed... Nice amenities. Staff brought me a toiletry kit completely free! Would recommend :) Instagram- @zachisvegan
Nice views open at 6:30am and one Irish Coffee after another to fight off the Oakland fog!
