Great tour. You get to see all offices and recording studios. My heart skipped a beat just standing in this place. Something you listen to everyday and they you get to see the place where it is made.

Enjoy the tour of NPR headquarters. You get lots of history of Public Radio and see the very floor where it is all happening live. The sound studio was my favorite and I took some photos to share. I think you need about an hour to do the full tour and it is pretty hands on.

I have had touring NPR on my to do list for a while. So glad I was able to check it off the list! It is an amazing facility and the tour was outstanding! Volunteers provide the tours, so you know they love NPR as much you do! :) Tours are at 11am (free) and I just signed up online. Super easy!
I ended up being the only one on my tour, and Barbara was an excellent tour guide! The tour ended up being a little over an hour and in all honesty I could have spent all day there. Getting an inside look in NPR was great, I don t understand why it s not advertised more. I loved it! They have a gift shop as well with great mugs and unique things. I cannot say enough great things about the tour. Highly recommend!

Whenever I'm feeling down I'll tune into NPR and close my eyes and simply mellow out to the soft music by different artists and to those that came up with this inspiring way to allow people to express themselves thru the culture of music is absolutely beautiful and empowering.

Having listened to NPR's programing via TuneIn for many years now, stepping into her LEED Gold-Certified Headquarter is surreal and a highlight to my virgin visit to DC.

For NPR fans, make sure to reserve a 60-minute tour (only on Tuesdays starting at 11am) to get a behind-the-scene look at her operation, people, and spirit.

Plan on arriving an hour before the tour to go through a well-documented timeline of NPR in the lobby. There are also videos and audio aids available, though the Soundstik was only emitting static sound during my visit. Is that a test to enter fandom?

Our guide for the day is Amy, a volunteer and advocate of NPR. She brought us to various studio spaces, the war-room (where you might see your favorite host/s from afar), while explaining the many features and functions of the space.

The tour capped off nicely with a visit to Bob Boilen's Tiny Desk (ie. NPR's All Songs Considered nerve center). Things that guests left behind (eg. disposal cup, uneaten cake) are scattered all around the desk / shelves... I call this beauty in chaos.

National Public Radio (usually shortened to NPR, stylized as npr is an American privately and publicly funded non-profit membership media organization that serves as a national syndicator to a network of 900 public radio stations in the United States.

NPR produces and distributes news and cultural programming. Individual public radio stations are not required to broadcast all NPR programs that are produced. Most public radio stations broadcast a mixture of NPR programs, content from rival providers American Public Media, Public Radio International, Public Radio Exchange and WNYC Studios and locally produced programs. NPR's flagships are two drive time news broadcasts, Morning Edition and the afternoon All Things Considered; both are carried by most NPR member stations, and are two of the most popular radio programs in the country

I love NPR, but I got to put you on blast! Now that is out of the way...we booked a tour last week and were super excited to possibly see a "Tiny Desk" concert. We arrived at NPR about 30 minutes before the tour to ensure that parking was not an issue. By the way, download the parking app for DC, you will save yourself some headache. We enter the massive doors to the ultimate listening experience, approached security to inquire about where to go, and was informed that there had not been a tour for a little more than a month due to a shooting at a radio station in the country. We were a little perplexed. There had been a confirmation email! I thought that we were good - to-go...only to be let down at the door. I was ready to buy my NPR Nerd shirt in the gift shop, but felt like I had been jilted at the alter because the tour had been canceled and no one let me in on the cruel emotional joke! NPR if you are reading this, and I hope that you are, know that the Parsons family is your biggest fan! Additionally, I feel some type of way now that I did not receive a notice that the tour was canceled...check the "Code Switch". I expect better from our NPR Headquarters! Lastly, we were informed that there is no estimated date for the re-start of the tours. I would truly hate to find out that this is not true.

I used to support NPR it seems like now their propaganda machine for the Democrats. All you hear is them bashing Trump never report in the actual news sad day when we come to this I won't be donating no more

I appreciate the news services all through the week. However, the network is becoming increasingly liberal in recent years; for example, the Weekend Edition Sunday has recently become little more than a two hour review of recent U.S. politics, very little of other stuff like sports, movies, etc.

There are two sides to NPR and they both are great. The first side is for tourists. Unlike other media companies, NPR allows you to walk right in. There's a public lobby that visually tells the history of NPR and current stats. At the end of the lobby is a large gift shop with NPR everything from hats to baby onesies. They also give daily tours each morning to tourists.

Then there's the actual office space. My friend who works there gave me a tour and it's a beautiful building with killer views of the US Capitol Building. There newsroom is two floors and looks similar to how The Washington Post sets up their newsroom minus the many studios for them to record their shows.

If you're in the area, definitely sign up for the daily tour!

Advice and news reports are valuable when done right and NPR really hit the mark with their platform. Getting thorough and comprehensive analyses on daily events makes a whole lot of sense and they piece meal it for anyone to understand. Truly remarkable.

I was thrilled to find out their new location was a short walk from my hotel! I couldn't stay for the tour because I was on my way to a conference but I wanted to take a quick peek.

Just a tip, I was told one could sign up for the tour online only and not on the day of the tour. My apologies if this isn't correct.

You have to book your tour before the day-of. It's absolutely a must-see, especially if you are a local and/or listen to NPR. The tour let's you see pretty much everything, but they are very strict about phones, cameras, and other electronics. They will allow you to take photos only in very specific places (it is a workplace). My favorite part was the Tiny Desk Concerts room... Also don't miss the gift shop!... Uber to arrive (no parking).

What an absolute disaster, Terry Grossman's interview was today with Hillary Clinton..It seemed Terry had her own political agenda. Terry harassed Clinton on her views of Gay marriage, she misquoted Mrs Clinton twice and seemingly wanted to blame Mrs. Clinton for comments made by Bill Clinton. I think Terry needs a time out.
