With all the multiple patients to enter the ER during this pandemic. I honestly have never met so many kind, caring, informative, and professional nurses and PA like the ones here at this facility. I understand that they have to take extra precautions and new protocol but they do it with ease. Leigh Ann and Amanda in the ER were top notch, they set a higher level of professionalism in their career field. Thank you for your services, you ladies made an emergency hospital visit not as intimidating and smooth. 6/8/2020

My husband, who is a pretty tough guy, could not urinate. This is an emergency. It had been going on for hours before he arrived at this emergency room. He spent five hours squalling before they gave him a catheter and sent him home without any instructions. By that time, his bladder released more than double the usual max capacity. This incompetence could have killed him. Makes me so sad.

I am a totally, 100%, satisfied patient. This started with a pre-surgery orientation to give me an overview of what to expect. Following the surgery, I was in the orthopedic ward for 3 days and two nights just as they had predicted. During that time, the nursing care was wonderful. The call bell was always answered within a minute and, once they found out what I needed, the appropriate person would show up promptly. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I don't think anyone ever left the room without asking if there was anything else they could do for me. As if that wasn't enough, the food was good. Who ever heard of good food in a hospital? I will likely have to have the other hip replaced at some point and there is no way I'm going to any hospital other than this one.

I hope I have the correct names and the correct hospital. My husband came in by ambulance on Friday Aug 10 around 9-9:30. I thought he had drowned in the pool, but replaying everything in my head over and over again, I don't think he drowned, I believe he was dead before his head hit the water. The first responders said there was not much water in him when they were working on him. I was otside , but not in the pool with him, but was getting ready to get in. I tell you this to say he was taken to Rowan Regional Hospital. He never regain consciousness. The doctors in the ER was so GREAT workng with my husband. The Provider that saw him at night time, i think her name is Angela Moody FNP. She was excellant. She explained everything to us that was going on and what the plans were. After that she asked could she pray with us? We were all so excited that she was a Christian and knowing that she was taking care of my husband along with The Lord Jesus Christ. My husband passed away on Sunday night around 11:54 pm. I was sadden and still am missing him and sadden of his loss. I do know we had the best doctors that we needed to work on his that night. There was also Dr. Patel, and the other names I wrote down are Sherese Anderson, Deborah Cook, Kimberly Raines, and one of the house keeping lady ( she was on night shift, african american, short other lady). She was so sweet to me and my son when we stayed at night. She told me she was going to check on us during the night and the next morning she came by to check again and we were awake, but she said she came by 3 times during the night to check on us. Now that is going out of your way to be kind and caring about someone you don't even know. This was my first time having any connetion with this hospital, but I can say that is a great hospital. Thank you all for taking care of my husband and all you tried to do for him and bein so sweet and caring and praying with us. I will never forget those people that night

I live in walking distance to this ER/Hospital..Ho...

I live in walking distance to this ER/Hospital..However, when im sick i do not mind driving to CMC Concord.Today, I was in a lot of pain and lower left back..I am in poor health with maybe (2 years ) or a little longer to live. I have a history of kidney stones, and have been hospitalized several times in the past year. again, I have A LOT of health problems so i am seen at the ER quite often. single male, no medicaid, no insurance, awaiting disability. Went to this ER, in Triage, was seen by a NP Joseph Sandusky . VERY rude and condescending. Told me, : "You have been at this ER multiple times in the past year, most recent a few weeks ago.."I told him I have severe pain in lower left back and have ( among other things) a history of pancreatitis, Kidney stones, UTI's and this feels just like kidney stones ( I was crying in pain )..He stated, "WE HAVE NEVER DIAGNOSED YOU WITH KIDNEY STONES". I informed him I was seen their for that problem as well, CMC hospital admitance for pancreatitis and galbladder and this feels the exact same way. I told him they usually do an ultrasound, blood labs to check my Lipase levels etc.. he then told me, without checking me over. "you have a pulled muscle in back, ill give you flexril muscle relaxer, have a good day"..I wasnt their everybit of 15 minutes, basically refused to properly diagnose me, and he is QUICK to use her personal oppinion of someone vs reading their history, medical issues, prior diagnostics..HORRIBLE experience. Upon leaving, you are then sent to the registration window where they ask for your insurance , etc etc. I told the lady I had no insurance, no medicaid. She informed me their was a $75 copay due at time of services. I then informed her that the Doctor wouldnt get $1.00 from me, he didnt do nothing. No wonder I read an article when searching for reviews of Novant health ER Rowan regional which stated, this hospital has had so many complaints, they are facing losing funding..google novant rowan regional complaints funding, you'll find the article. when I moved to Salisbury, EVERYONE told me, " dont go to Rowan Regional" it's a bandaid hospital and many times, even Rowan regional ( NOVANT ) will send their own patients to CMC NE Concord.

Stay away if absurd hospital I personally went there for a broken leg 2-3-17 they looked at my injury ithem asked normal medical questions then level of pain scale I was feeling 10 plus ( when swelling begins of any parts your body starts numbing itself) normal anatomy of body function anyways while I was waiting in e. r. nurses came in took all vitals gave me a gown but still no pain medication to help with pain at this I had been there over 1 hour at this point I was telling my husband to help me get back dressed I'm leaving going to " Winston Forsyth were I personally known other family member had received fast accurate medical treatment " after saying that a nurse came in said they contacted Orthopediic surgeon he can't be there til after 5 pm then gave a pain medication called Lowertab I explain to her this nothing but higher milligram of otc tylenol then X-ray came in took me for pictures after all back to back rush I was waiting again for another 2 hours then they admired me after president talking to husband he couldn't take care of me at home til Surgeron got there therefore in hospital admitting room I began to have strong pain I spoke with ever nurse coming in room to please give me something stronger medicine then lowertab from rt cause that never eased any pain at this time I had shooting pain up my rt. leg my muscles were jerking makes the broke bone move oh it's awful experience ( I never had a broke bone before ) the nurse said she would have to call dr. for approval she came back in saying they can onlygive same medicine ( been through 5 hours of very low poorly treatment) as rt did then dr. show up I asked him if anyone has call him from here for me to get stronger medicine to help control extreme beyond pain he looked at computer chart then shock his head saying he get me a I V started of right dosage to stop all pain in leg area til morning were he'll repair leg. Next day nurse came in took me to surgery waiting area during this never said anything to husband about anything surgery related or were I was at so he could be close he had to ask but they said they would have to call & let him know later now after twice asking getting same answer & know return follow up he left & went to find other hospital staff to try helping him. After I got out of surgery they took me back to room were I stay 1 day cause I had to wait on PT to release me after her time saying I was ready to go it took the hospital to 4 more hours to do release papers.
That's absurd knowing it's obviously there taking average of patients due to type of health insurance which I have top rated A+ BCBS my personal concern to how they treated me delaying all. I'll not be useing or recommend anyone to go here.

My sister is there in the ICU. This place needs a serious make over. Dark, dreary and a dump. Unkempt bathrooms. Little to no staff on the weekends it seems. Nurses stretched out so thin, that they can't take care of patients properly. Doctors are scarce, I guess they were enjoying their weekend time, leaving our family with more questions than answers. I bet they'll speed up and pay her better attention when it comes to sending the bill for this stay.

I am here now with right side sharp pain since yesterday. All they did was take blood work and urine.. He said I'm going to send you home if it's an appendix issue it will rupture in the next 72 hrs... And to come back if pain gets worse. Worst experience I have had. Going home to hope nothing ruptures....

Before even asking for my name or even looking at me, the nurse in the ER asked if I spoke English. NO BITCH I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN THE UNITED STATES BUT FOR SOME REASON I DONT SPEAK ENGLISH. how annoying and rude. But other than that, the maternity unit is great. When I had my baby I had the best doctor (that I still see!) and the best nurses that helped me with everything I needed! I recommend this hospital to every pregnant lady I know.

One star is far too kind. After visiting the ER for chest pain, I was told...and I quote.."Sometimes you have to leave it up to Jesus." Seriously? I'm still paying off a $3,000.00 bill for that little gem of medical advice. I should have sued. I would literally let myself die at home before going back to this hospital. I could get that advice for free at any church.

This hospital tries, and fails, to care for people...

This hospital tries, and fails, to care for people with legitimate emergencies. Just because you are not taken to the hospital in an ambulance does not mean it is not an absolute emergency. But the staff here do not seem to understand this. I understand that other people can have life threatening injuries, or pain on levels of agony that need to be treated. Recently (literally today) my girlfriend and I visited the hospital because she woke up literally screaming in agony due to a pain in her side. She compared the pain to being stabbed, but not just to say it was a sharp pain compared to blunt, but rather the pain of actually being stabbed. Not that long after our arrival, the pain had escalated to where she was on the floor crying and screaming. Something that is well considered embarrassing, if it is faked, but this was very real. The employees in the waiting room (front office, as of today around 1:50pm December 18th, 2020, for the company account that s likely to tell me to file a complaint, let s see if you even actually read the reviews) literally told her to get off of the floor and stop what she was doing, just because she was making a scene. She couldn t help it, and she darn well wouldn t have been in the floor if your sorry butts would actually have helped people in dire need of assistance and put them in an examination room. Maybe your waiting queue wouldn t be so backed up if you actually tried to get people examined and determine if the issue is fatal, treatable, or both. Honestly, I can t believe the treatment the ill and injured receive here. Next to none, but if you re lucky enough to catch them on a active day you might just figure something out. Regardless of how backed up you are, your hospital is huge, and I know the process. People get moved out of the ER rooms and into the patient rooms within 6-24 hours of their presence depending on their situation. Regardless, I was not the only one who experienced the same issue. A man I met there today was literally folded in half at work, and though he was but 50 he moved as though he was 90 with arthritis. In pain, very life threatening, but they didn t even bat an eye. 6 hours+ many people sat there, with no treatment, no check up, only blood drawn for nobody to come back with results.

TL;DR- If you think you may pass, find a better hospital. At least, if dying in a waiting room surrounded by many in similar situations as you isn t on your agenda for the day.

(THEY DONT ACCEPT BLUE CROSS BLUE SHEILD) I have been going to Rowan Medical Center for years...over 10 years now. In the event of an emergency, I have never thought twice about going to Rowan Medical Centers Emergency center. Within the past year, I have gone to the Emergency Room several times and I am getting separate bills from their "Emergency Room Doctors". Every visit to the emergency room results in a $500 - $1500 separate bill from the doctors which do not accept insurance...well they don't accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. The receptionist at the Emergency Center will NOT make you aware of this fact. I bet if they did, you would probably leave. Instead they will accept your insurance and tell you that they accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and are contracted with them BUT THE DOCTORS THEY CONTRACT WITH DONT. So please be aware. I would suggest a 15 minute drive south to the Kannapolis Emergency Center at exit 63 on I85 to avoid this bill.

I too am getting bills from the Emergency Room doctors. They do not accept blue cross blue shield. I have called the hospital and the emergency room doctors service and complained but I am now stuck with this $1000 bill that my insurance is not covering. Blue cross blue shield did cover the hospital bill but didn't cover the doctors that saw me for about 1-2 minutes. I am never going back.

Had an operation yesterday at the wilson smith outpatient center, I was terrified going in because I have never had surgery but every single person I had contact with from walking in to rolling out of the door was absolutely amazing. By the time they took my back I wasnt nervous anymore. I would recommend this facility to any family member or friend I have. Great job staff!! Thanks for taking such good care of me.

This place is BS. Yea that's right. My girlfriend and I came in for her get checked out because she was cramping and bleeding. She is pregnant. We waited for over 2hrs before she was even seen. Then when they did the tests they wouldn't let me, the dad of the child, go in when she got the ultrasound. Said that it's company policy the dad can't or even family go in. And then completely refused to let my girlfriend know any of the results of the baby during the ultrasound. Wouldn't let her hear the heartbeat, see the screen, say if the baby was moving or alive, wouldn't tell the sex of the baby and the girl was completely rude to both of us. This hospital is so unprofessional in everything they do hear and their staff is a bunch of A'holes. I've been hear in the past to for my older children and myself. And they don't do s*** for testing and are always making guesses than actually figuring out what the problem is. I hope this place gets sued and shut down. I have never been treated so inhuman. I will be turning this place in and making all sorts of complaining to make sure this place gets hit hard. I'm tired of being treated like s*** by this place.

I took my 4 year old to the ER this afternoon. They were quick, professional, knowledgeable, etc. They were genuinely concerned about her condition and pain and did everything to help. I am so grateful for this team of people. Our doctors name was Rob but not sure of the nurse's names.

We've had good experiences for the most part. Having lived all over the East coast from NYC to Miami, I can attest to the fact that Rowan is better than a WHOLE lot of them! The day of personalized medicine is over, which is not the fault of the medical personnel.

I was feeling Extremely lightheaded and weak on my Upper leftside.
My spouse took me to the hospital andI got treated for a Stroke the nurses and doctors did what was needed but when I needed to go the restroom I had to do it in a plastic tray which was highly Uncomfortable for me
If I go back to the hospital I will take my Portapotty bucket with lid on it with me so that I won't have to call for the nurse and wait til she shows up I will already have what is needed along with a cover

My birthing experience was very similar to the other negative reviews posted. I wish I had listened because I was aware of all of them, but I assumed only angry people are motivated to leave reviews so I went against my better judgement. Please do not go to this hospital to have your baby! I tend to get along with just about everyone so I was shocked by how incredibly rude and insensitive the staff was. My guests were even appalled by their unprovoked hostility and callous demeanor. It s been awhile since I ve given birth and I m still terrified to get pregnant again given my previous labor and postpartum experience. I would honestly give birth in a truck stop bathroom before I returned to this facility.

Avoid Rowan memorial/Rowan regional/novant hospital. Had us here at 630am. Checked in 3 different times but asked exact same questions. Waited in pre-op for 45mins. Then waited in endoscopy for 2hrs and counting. Turns out they schedule outpatient sx with doctor who is elsewhere-NO BACKUP?!?! Patient is nervous, thirsty, hungry, alone and doc is helping elsewhere. They didn't even think to come.tell me. Left me waiting over an hour before they told me ahe still hadnt had her 5min procedure. Literally 5 mins! They could hv done many times over but instead our time is wasted and more money spent by insurance company for extra meds. This is whats wrong with our medical system in the US and NC plus Rowan County is especially bad.

I have gone there 2times an never again will I go there . I waited in the waiting room for FOUR HOURS just for them to tell me every hour "it'll be only 20mins longer . then when I got to my breaking point after waiting 4.5 hrs I asked yet again an they told me "its gonna be an hour there's more important ppl here". I was the only one in the waiting room tonight . I won't even send a dying rat there .

If your desire is to enter the ER and be treated l...

If your desire is to enter the ER and be treated like a prisoner by the RN in Triage then come to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. If you would like to come in for blood work , sit in a waiting area for 5 hours for seeing a Doctor on a Monday afternoon til evening then come to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Maybe your desire is to ask the same questions to 5 different working staff members who are unable to answer a simple insurance question such as Does my ER co-pay include a exam from the ER doctor ? then this is Definitely the hospital for you.

This hospital had a bad reputation with the community before it was purchased by a Novant and it still retains that crown for a reason. There are no clear answers , rude employees ( although the nurses did treat me with respect ) and no billing answers.

If I am going to a hospital it s not a social call, it s because I m ill and already experiencing a health concern. Good customer service and clear answers should be a requirement from anyone hired because that s what every patient needs. If a employee is unable to answer my question then direct me to someone who can. Simple! I have no desire for bureaucracy. If I request my records give them to me or direct me to the person I need to speak to receive them.

I think you guys need new registration people. I came in and tried to tell them that I could breathe. I have Covid and I have a pulse oxi machine and my O2 levels with from 89 down to 79. I came in and was feeling like I was going to faint. I was in tears and asked when I was next in line and the woman at the desk said she couldn t hear me then once she did she said I had four people in front of me. Four people in front of me and I m lacking oxygen.... I waited and saw more than four people go in ahead of me... Even if I had a heart attack I m sure I d still be waiting hours before I got into triage.... smh I need to fine a new hospital

Husband was in severe pain from kidney stones. Prompt service at the ER desk, taken back right away, given pain meds quickly. It was during the shift change and we were still treated quickly and kindly. Nurses checked in on him again before leaving for the day. Everyone was very nice and professional. We've been to the Concord hospital and it was horrible. So glad we came to Salisbury tonight.

I honestly will never go here again. Took my daughter here and had to beg for testing. The PA didnt really know what he was doing, very inexperienced probably because he is young and cocky - he didnt want to listen to me. I Left this hospital and went to Concord where the DOCTOR actually said "no one knows their child like a mother, what are you thinking" and actually had a bedside manner. Ill drive the extra 10 minutes to the hospital in Concord. I am not sure for the rest of the hospital but the ER is awful.

The ER personnel, especially the PA, were excellent; however, I did not feel very safe in the lobby. Unlike other doctor offices, there were no effort to maintain social distancing in the lobby in that people could sit wherever they wanted. I was in a wheelchair next to the drink dispenser and people came by to get drinks or talk on their phones. People did not always wear their masks in the lobby despite being checked when they came in. What really upset me was the bathroom. The toilet had urine on it and there was trash on the sink. I expected better housekeeping and cleaning in a hospital. I may drive to Concord or Winston-Salem if I face to go to the ER.

Wife and I recently delivered our first child here. The staff in labor and delivery have been absolutely incredible. Words can't describe how happy we were with the care we received. From start to finish, everyone was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and willing to go the extra mile.

The private rooms were also pretty nice! If you're thinking about where to have your baby in the Salisbury area, look no further.

We are here now because they poorly took care of my husband 2 days ago and now he is worse so here we are again. As we are waiting i cant believe my eyes. These nurses in the ER tonight are beyond lazy. This is ridiculous! I am at the desk behind a man experiencing stroke symptoms and he is having trouble standing and the woman signing him in won't get off her butt. A RN walks by and says u have to get the triage nurse and walks away from a possible stroke patient. They wouldnt even get him a wheelchair!! I HAD TO. I GOT THE MAN A WHEELCHAIR AND SAT HIM IN IT BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO SORRY TO DO SO. He could hardly stand there. Then the triage nurse comes out asks him questions and they had the nerve to lool at me and ask if i was with him when i said no told me to back up becaus of hippa. Are u serious!!?! I already know cause no one would help him. I back up and his son comes in from parking the car and the triage nurse tells the poor old man come on and then walks away. Puts her hands on her hips and tell his family to push his chair. Are u kidding me..is all these things not the nurses job to do. I dont mind helping but i dont understand why they arent doing it. Then they tell me they are taking my husband to ct and he is in a room. My husband has memory issues from a tbi and needs me to help with some things. This is by far the worst experience i have ever had here. We come here usually because they are better than lexington where we live but this is not acceptable..

The front desk did not seem like she wanted to help. There was no since of emergency in the emergency room. I could tell the doctor did not want to be in the at work today. He had no since of emergency. I don't understand why they asked for information at the front when both of the nurses asked the same question. There is no since of privacy. They called 3 people to the back at the same time when one of the perons had the flu and another had a broken arm. The emergency room needs to do better. I probably won't come back to this hospital and go out of my was to go to carolinas health care on Lane.

The ER Dr I saw was great. The only issue I had was with the nurses that were pretty much blowing me off. Going as far as to have one say why are you here there's nothing we can do for you and then guessed what was wrong. The other nurse told me to just take Advil

They did not listen to me. I know my body and they were useless. Dont waste you time or money
They also overcharged and i call 4 time aftertalking to my insurance company who said my portion of the bill was 107.89 they had 2 bills one for 694 and a totally different on for around 550 What the heck. I called many times and no help no understanding no follow up. Beyond furious. There were dirty rooms mine had dryed blood on the floor. Joking around by staff instead of working on patients. Took her to Baptist and big different. Will never go back.

I appreciated the efficient staff members that too...

I appreciated the efficient staff members that took care of my brother Robert C. Allen during his emergency visit. They handled everything with great care and professionalism. I was pleased with the nurses treatments during that evening and catered to him while he was a patient.
There were only two things that upset me though. My brother's shirt was destroyed understandably to get to his chest during the visit. Upon leaving, he wasn't given any type of clothing or a blanket to cover his bare chest. Thankfully, it was warmer weather at night time, and he didn't need anything to cover him up. I also noticed that not all his tubes had been removed off his body. He still had the catheter still attached from what I could tell. It almost got caught in the door of the car before we left the hospital. These two things greatly disturbed my husband and me as we were taking him back to his home.
Hopefully this review will be helpful to someone who manages patient needs. Outside of those two items, I appreciate what the staff did for my brother in his time of need. Thank you.

Friday July 10th, 2015 .All of the staff at this Heart and Vascular facility are GREAT ! My husband was here for a heart procedure and every one took great care of him. Dr. Fazia and Dr. Meadows did an excellent job. And we absolutely loved the Nurse Bobby , she was FANTASTIC, she even cut his turkey sandwich into small triangles so he could eat easier while laying completely flat .Later he was moved to upstairs fourth floor for an overnight stay and observation. The staff on the fourth floor was also Great !! And a special Thank You to the Nurse Teresa for making sure he got his insulin. Thank You all so much !!

I was very upset waiting in the ER on a Friday night. Hours with a daughter in severe pain and throwing up. She had been here two weeks prior for surgery and I was very concerned with what could be wrong. It wasn't the first time I was here for hour after hour. However, once we were taken back the staff worked well together and the doctor had her in a room quickly after tests results were in. While waiting for surgery the nurses were awesome. The OR nurses came in and had her ready for surgery in minutes and were so kind to her. I would say that her experience here was so much more than I thought it was going to be. The nurses were on top of everything, kind, encouraging, and so very gentle. The doctors explained everything so thoroughly, they were kind and knowledgeable. It was obvious the doctors were very skilled.

Make sure they tell you whether your charges are fully covered by your insurance ,EVEN if they are a listed Provider. They used out sourced people like Rowan Diagnostics and Providence Anesthesiology (also known as Presbyterian Anesthesiology) and you will be billed separately. I should have had 100% coverage because I had met all prior deductibles earlier in the year, and I got bills for over
$ 4300.00.They should have told me about these separate/hidden charges before doing service.
This is the first and last time I will ever use this hospital!

My mom needed medical care and was transported to the Emergency Room. We have received nothing but the best service and care. The ER doctor whose first name is Nick was polite and attentive. Her RN I'm sorry I forgot her name but she was amazing. The admitting doctor, Dr. Harrison was extremely welcoming and informative. Jamie the male attendant that brought her to her room was extremely nice and professional. Lettie her nurse when admitted is doing great!
My mom was a nurse for 45 years and she is extremely happy with your level of care and hospitality.

Thank you for taking such great care of my mom!

I was in a car accident hit by a drunk driver on ...

I was in a car accident hit by a drunk driver on Nov 13, 2013 I was taken to the emergency room at Rowan. At that time I did not have any broken bones, there was a small cut on my wrist, however I felt a little agitated of course. My car was totaled and I was more concerned about getting back to Charlotte; I was new to the area. Because I was not in pain and felt okay I informed the nurse very politely that I would seek medical treatment in Charlotte if conditionS were to get worse. The worst nightmare took place be mindful I am in the medical profession so I am familiar with proper protocol. Seven people then rushed into the room and forced me in a supine position. I was asking them to stop restraining me. I told them I was A DOCTOR. That IT WAS UNLAWFUL WHAT THEY WERE DOING. They were yelling stop moving and the reason I was moving one of the men present was grinding his knuckles into my leg causing pain. The only reason he stopped I kept repeating his name and ASKING HIM to stop grinding your left knuckles into my left knee, I was very descriptive in what part of his hand was used to elicit pain to a part of my body. THEY INJECTED A DRUG WITHOUT MY APPROVAL.
I AM A PROFESSIONAL AND I WAS TREATED THIS WAY. PART OF THEIR ACTIONS WERE RACIALLY BASED AND I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE THAT EXPECTS GOOD MEDICAL CARE TREATMENT TO TRY ANOTHER COUNTY.
When I reviewed the medical records they had the nerve to alter the scenario and reported I was unruly to cover it up.

Don't go here. Not impressed with the emergency care they provided. My 1 yr old needed emergency care and after 30 minutes of listening to her scream in pain I not so nicely asked for assistance. There were several nurses standing around and only one doctor for the whole floor. No one came to check on us and when I asked to see a nurse no one came. After 18 minutes of waiting for one I looked out my door to see them all standing around talking about whatever. If your in need of emergency care I highly advice you not to go there. They seem under staffed on doctor's and over staffed on unqualified nurse's or MA/CNA.
Someone on the board of this hospital needs to figure how to give better/faster service to they're patients.

I fell at home because the rollator walker seat broke on 4/18/19. An ambulance transported me to Novant Health Rowan Hospital. The ER Doctors, Nurses, Lab Technicians and Xray Technicians gave me excellent care. I was admitted to the Hospital. My complaint is the care from the Hospitalist Doctors. The primary Doctor didn't order any pain medications and the RN had to call for orders. The pain medications was listed on my medications list. He didn't order some of the medications from my medication list. When he made rounds, I needed an interpreter and I speak English. I was showered with his spit at each spoken word. The day of discharge another Doctor visited. I was informed by Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy the previous day. They would recommend home Physical Therapy and Home Health Care. The Physical Therapy was ordered but I had to call my own Primay Physician for the Home Health Orders. The day of discharge the Hospitalist didn't have any decency to ask me how I felt. He acted like I had the plague and wanted to tell me I could go home. I rated the Hospital with four stars because of the Hospitalist MD's. I'm thankful I have a Medical background and worked at this Hospital years ago. I can imagine the care given to patients with non medical backgounds. Novant's decision to hire these Hospitalist Doctors rather than allowing Patients own Primary Physicians continue Inpatient care is a disaster. This is not the first time I've been seen by Novant Hospitalist. To be clear not all of the Hospitalist provides the care I experience this time. The Hospitalist during this admission made it a poor memorable Hospital stay worth a review.

DO NOT GO HERE! Everyone here acts like they are angry you are even there. Even slapping on my wife's shoulder and telling her, to "shut up and quit screaming" while she was giving natural birth. I called to ask a question and the operator starts telling me off. These people are very rude and we never once felt welcome when we came there to have a baby. I never would have came here if I wasn't forced because of insurance. These people did not do a good job and treated us very poorly and were lazy and the rooms were dirty and we never came in contact with more than 2 polite people the whole time we were there.

If you like Russian Roulette, this is the place to...

If you like Russian Roulette, this is the place to go!! I checked into the ER at approximately 1:15am. The staff got to me right away. My BP was off the chart 225/116. I was informed by a member of the staff that I had done absolutely the right thing by coming in and that this was definitely to be considered an emergency. I was taken back to a very relaxing atmosphere, room and bed and ALL of the staff, Afrika, John, Adam and Bobbi were more than kind and helpful. It was the doctor who totally sucked at her job, (she has been reported by a REAL doctor and to her supervisor, there have been similar complaints, I have found out about), hopefully they ll can her ass before she allows someone to die. If you lose or have lost a loved one under her care, Dr Porchia Tomlin, I ll Testify for them / you. I asked the nurse Bobbi if she could ask the doctor to admit me to the hospital over night. I SPECIFICALLY asked this doctor TWO times to be admitted to the hospital so that testing could be done to determine why my blood pressure was going nuts. This is not a normal thing for my blood pressure AT ALL! I made this VERY CLEAR! This was her reply, and I have a nurse witness I think that a follow up with your primary physician would be better. I don t want to be responsible for those test results . What even the F!!! What does that even mean???? At what point do you decide to be responsible . You re F n responsible the SECOND that you accept me or anyone else into YOUR care!!! Would you have done the exact same thing to your own parent?!? I think not. Total incompetence. I was given a medication to reduce my blood pressure. It reduced it to 177/ 102. Even this number is so close to hospital protocol for admission or observation that it s just crazy not to admit. I was sent home!!! Who the F even does that? I could have had a stroke, heart attack, irreversible organ damage, anything!!! I was told that the effects of the medication would last 8 hours. A little research turned out that this was also a COMPLETE lie by the doctor . Before 6am I was right back where I was. All she did was give me a band aid , shirk her responsibilities and got rid of me and disappeared. She is one of the reasons that Rowan has such a horrible reputation. The joke in town is, Only go to Rowan if you wanna die . She ll help carry on this legacy unless others see what this doctor is doing / not doing. It would have been worth me dying so that my family could have sued her. I have THREE witnesses to what she said, did and more importantly did not do. If you see that she is going to be your doctor leave immediately and go to CMC they ll take care of you like they re supposed to or at the very least request another real doctor. I ll drive the extra 30 miles next time. On the upside though, I m sure the undertakers will love her! Again, the rest of the staff was PERFECT but her lack of compassion, care and professionalism diminishes the integrity of the entire hospital, staff and an already tarnished reputation for the entire establishment. She may be more suited for Veterinary Medicine where the animals don t understand anything and she can kill them with impunity. Stuff happens. Anyone out there who needs further clarification to this story, feel free to contact me, I ll talk all day about it. I stand by what I ve said percent and have other people to confirm it. She wasn t counting on me having witnesses. I only hope that her bill is separate from the ER s. I would do ANYTHING to see that this doctor never attends to another human being. Go to Vietnam or the Phillipines you ll get better care than she gave. One other thing, when it was time to leave, I was NEVER even given ANY type of discharge papers or asked to sign ANYTHING, I could have just walked out. I went to the front counter and even the attendant Afrika was amazed that this happened. I paid anyway the $300 co-pay, cause what ya gonna do??? Jeff Karriker
