My experience at the Norman Parathyroid Center was great! After seeing other doctors for over a year and getting no where, I would highly recommend them. They know exactly what they're doing and made sure I was comfortable and understood all of the information. I am now on the road to recovery and looking forward to getting my life back on track.

Dr. Norman and his team are absolutely God sends. I suffered with hyperparathyroidism for at least 4 years with no diagnosis. Could not get anyone to understand how bad I felt or put together all the symptoms I had until I came across the Norman Parathyroid Center webpage. IT WAS ALL THERE!!! I heard a lot of just getting older normal aging etc... from my doctors in Arkansas. I took the leap of faith and did my online application with Dr. Norton s Center. Everything fell into place and the process moved very efficiently and professionally. I had 3 parathyroid tumors removed today and a thyroid nodule. Everything went smoothly and I am in very little pain and have a very small incision. I am so very thankful to Dr. Norton the founder and expert surgeon for his dedication to this disease. Big thanks to him and Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Parrack and the whole team!!! You guys are truly amazing!!!

Finding the Norman experience was absolutely a wonderful thing. All the professionals I spoke with , emailed with , and /or spoke with, were caring, professional and informative. I thought I was just getting older, and my symptoms were indicative, then my endocrinologist noticed my lab work and urine levels of calcium and parathyroid hormones were not right.
I learned of the Norman Center, applied and was chosen for primary hyperparathyroidism surgery. Tampa was a bonus, lots of fresh air, seafood and wonderful treatment at the Tampa General Hospital .
The Norman Center is dedicated to only doing parathyroid surgeries, and I am happy to share my good news about the place.

I have never experienced a more efficient and friendly medical group, from the first phone call, to the insurance team, the doctor and nurses and all the way through recovery. The entire process is amazing and all about communication. I spent 36 years in sales management with Dow Chemical and know strong customer service when I see it! The Tampa General Hospital is beautiful; makes you almost want to consider checking in!

It turned out I had hyperparathyroidism (and a large tumor) for 8 to 10 years and after many times of getting blood work done for this and that, no doctor ever caught my high calcium levels until last year! I found Dr. Norman on line and did I ever go to the right place!! I am a very active retired 61 year old female, but had many troublesome symptoms over the years that doctors could not pin point (hand tingling, loss of memory, ability to concentrate, tired in the afternoon, even though I bike 20 miles every other day and run 5 miles on the other days and in great health (or so I thought).

As far as I am concerned, there is no where else to go if you are considering parathyroid surgery.

I had so much energy the entire day after surgery. My husband drove us home to Naples mid morning and I didn't sit down much at all. Then I couldn't sleep at night because I was reliving the whole experience. I got up this morning and walked 2 miles. No pain at all or swelling. My neck is just slightly tender. I would be happy to talk to any person considering surgery. Just call the doctor's office and they can put me in touch with you.

Dr Norman saved my life today. I have had Parathyr...

Dr Norman saved my life today. I have had Parathyroid Disease for over six years and while I've learned an enormous amount of information about the disease, it's severity and dangerousness over the course of those six years, there are two lessons, though, that are the most significant ... It is one of the least understood diseases by general practice physicians, endocrinologists and most surgeons, as they clearly do not fully understand its implications, severity and dangerousness and The Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa is THE ONLY facility you should consider.

While you have (or will learn) We all begin with four parathyroid glands. Their sole purpose is to regulate calcium. If they grow tumors (usually not cancerous) they can no longer do their job. Calcium is then leeched from your bones and thrown into your bloodstream. The consequences of such range from a poor quality of life (constant fatigue, insomnia, aches/pains, and kidney stones) to early onset of osteoporosis and potentially deadly scenarios such as stroke, heart attack and vital organ failure as calcium deposits form. Women are two to three times more effected than men and unless your calcium numbers are off the charts, most general practitioners (as mine did) will recommend "we watch and monitor." If and when you are referred to an endocrinologist, they will often (as mine did) start testing you for every deadly form of cancer on the planet. The problem with this? If your calcium is high due to cancer, you're already almost dead and you will already know it! More wasted time. When/if you are finally referred to a surgeon, oftentimes, they too are lacking in experience with this disease, as my first one (in a major NYC Hospital) was. I left that first surgery with no change in my numbers, a lot of scar tissue (which makes a second surgery more challenging), and a strong suspicion that a normal gland was removed!!

After 2.5 years of continuing to monitor by a new Endocrinologist who looked at me in January and said "I just don't know what to tell you" I finally took control of my fate and contacted Dr Jim Norman. Upon reading my labs he knew I needed to make the trip to Tampa...that trip concluded today (as did my long and arduous journey with Parathyroid Disease). Dr Norman examined my scans and suggested he knew exactly where the tumor was. Within five seconds (my husband counted) he identified it with an ultrasound in the exact spot he surmised. My first surgeon rooted around for FOUR HOURS and could not find it! I spent an hour total in the O.R...half of which, was undergoing preparation by his highly skilled team. I am happy to report, while a little tender, I am cured! I left the hospital with wonderful numbers and owe my life (both quality and longevity) to Dr. Norman. I can never repay such a debt, but I will pay it forward and work to educate and advocate. I am starting here, today, to any of you who may be perusing this site asking yourself if it's worth the trip...Stop reading this and complete the Norman Parathyroid Center intake form and when you too are cured, join the crusade to educate others and advocate for change.

Dr Parrack did my surgery, I had spoken to him on the phone since I was not local and he explained to me what was entailed. On the day of the surgery he also sat and talked to me face to face and made sure I was comfortable with everything. It s been 10 months and I waited on purpose so I could give more information. What had been previously diagnosed as sciatica was apparently bone pain because that stopped hurting the evening of the surgery, my gerd which was so bad I had to sleep sitting up was gone in about 3 months. It s an ongoing process but I knew it would be and that some things could take years to return to normal. Now let s talk about that scar across my throat, even when I point it out people can t see it! They take really good care of you at Norman Parathyroid, I m so glad I did my research and chose the best.

I chose the Norman Parathyroid Center because of the information provided on the Center website and the recommendation of my internist. The experience surrounding my surgery in Feb.2015 was exceptional and consistent with that presented on the website. Dr. Politz and Dr. Lopez were very personable and instilled confidence. The anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, entire nursing staff and assistants performed there jobs in a skilled and caring manner. The technician who did the scan was professional and considerate. Yes, it was costly for a New York State resident to access this surgery in Tampa, FL. My perspective in rating this experience is that of a retired professional RN. I made the right choice. It was worth it.

I strongly urge anyone needing parathyroid surgery to use NPC, they are great. From the moment you walk thru the hospital doors, to when they wheel you out to your car, everyone was super nice, the nurses, the anesthesiologist, Dr.Mitchell. The comraderie among them was comforting. I was there Sept. 4 and only patients are allowed in the hospital, but that was fine, everyone was very attentive. Great experience.

I am so happy I did my research and found the Norman Parathyroid Center. From the time of submitting my new patient form to surgery, I always encountered a professional, yet friendly, experience.
Tampa General is top notch, and the Parathyroid surgery team ran like a fine tuned machine. Everyone knew what they were supposed to do, and did it with a smile. I am looking forward to seeing improvements to my health now that the tumor is removed.
I wish the Endocrinologist that I was seeing for the past five years had picked up on this.

Very attentive and professional all around .doctor Ruan and his team. Excellent outcome. Pain is totally controlled as the instructions . I expected worse. My case was perhaps a little more complicated but I trusted them fully. If you have a parathyroid problem, don't go local, come here. And I derive nobenefits from saying so, just wanting to share great outcom in a delicate surgery performed by extraordinary trained surgeons focusing their skills in this challenging field while keeping a smile

The Norman Parathyroid Center is everything it claims to be. It is a smoothly operated system from registration to release. The staff is friendly and caring and the doctors are expert. Even the hotel (Marriott) makes what could be an anxiety producing experience a relaxing pleasure. There is no reason to have your parathyroid surgery anywhere else. It is worth the time and travel to have it done by the best. Post op is a breeze and I was visiting the Tampa Aquarium the very next day and back to work the day after.
Thank you Dr. Politz and Dr. Boone for your care and expertise.

Phenomenal service. Our 21 yr old daughter just had surgery there this week and we could not be happier. Staff and surgeons have mastered the art of making you feel as if you are the only patient they have that day. By the way, risk of infection is extremely low since no other surgeries are performed in their OR s, but parathyroid surgeries. I could go on and on since I am also a General Surgeon, but be patient and let them handle everything. NOTHING is left to chance.

I consider myself very fortunate that I was referred to this incredible practice by my primary care physician. My entire experience was outstanding. The website truly answered all my questions, and as a healthcare provider myself, it was very helpful to view the surgery beforehand. Everyone was great, both in the office and at the hospital. Could not have asked for a better experience and outcome. Thanks!

After being misdiagnosed for years, I contacted Norman Parathyroid Center, after doing research about this disease. From the initial contact I made, to walking out the door after surgery, the experience I had was top notch! Dr. Lopez made sure he took special care because of my genetic disorders. My incision is highly skilled, because Dr. Lopez is a very skilled, award winning, top surgeon. After my consultation, I knew I wanted him to do my surgery. He's smart, compassionate & kind. They changed my life completely. I got a do- over at life. I'm so impressed. I traveled across the country from PA to FL because I knew I needed the best! No more misdiagnoses or shoddy doctors for this gal! I went to the best... Dr. Lopez.

Procedure went great, I instantly felt relief in my hands, knuckles and toes. The pins and needles in my feet was gone, this has been ongoing for a couple years. The staff was very professional and answered all questions thoroughly. We had to be at the hospital at 0730 and was not taken back until noon. I thought this was a bit excess of a wait. Surprised that no pain medicine was prescribed for recovery. When I asked one of the doctors, he was quick to reply"we aren't drug pushers". The center is proud that they haven't prescribed pain medicine in over 10 years, kudos but not all patients are alike. A week after surgery I am still dealing with pain, I was told by the doctor that I had significant neck muscles they had to cut through. The 6 hour ride home the next day was difficult, OTC meds didn't cut it. I think the policy of no prescription pain meds should be considered on a case by case basis.
Overall, very happy with the results so far, disappointed with patient post surgery care and comfort for managing pain.

I arrived at the Center at 6:00am. I was soon taken to a waiting area where I was provided with a hospital gown and shoe socks to wear after I had disrobed. Everyone was very cordial and nice. I received visits during the morning from all four doctors who would participate in my operation: Drs. Mitchell, Politz and Lopez, the surgeons and Dr. Olveira, the anesthesiologist. They were all very patient, offering to answer any questions I might have.
I was then taken to the place were I would have my sestamibi scan. The technician allowed me to view the scans, so I could see that I definitely had a parathyroid gland in need of removal. (This is me practicing medicine without a license. The technician wouldn't tell me anything, but would let me view the pictures.)
About an hour after that, at about 11:00am, I was given a sedative. Within one minute of receiving the shot, I was fast asleep. I have no memory of anything else which happened until I woke up back in the waiting area where I had been prior to the operation.
Even before I was fully awake, attendants began to arrange for me to get dressed so I could leave. I had a moderate headache which I was told was due to the anesthesia and would go away over the course of the day. By dinner time, when I went out to Jackson's Restaurant, it had mostly gone away. It was completely gone by the next day.
I also had a sore throat and a painful sensation while swallowing, especially when I have to take those large calcium pills which I will be taking for years to come. However, it is only the second day after the operation, and I expect that the difficulty swallowing will go away over the next week or so. So, I would definitely recommend having this operation at the Norman Center if you have hyperparathyroidism.

I spend a lot of time investigating Norman Parathy...

I spend a lot of time investigating Norman Parathyroid Center before going. I spend hours studying their website and others as well. I really understood hyperparathyroidism well and could handle an intelligent conversation with my doctors. I was concerned about the $4 million Medicare fraud settlement. This really threw a wrench into my decision-making. I questioned the authenticity of the practice. After much thought, I had my surgery done there by Dr. Deva Boone. It is a professionally run practice. There were 16 surgeries done my day of the surgery. When you read their website, you think everyone else is wrong and they are right. I have to say after researching many doctors nationwide that they are right and ahead of the curve. Dr. Boone was excellent in all ways. I would highly recommend her. If you have a parathyroid issue, this is the place to go. They check all four parathyroid glands. They don't do a focused surgery like everyone else. This can be a problem when removal of one bad parathyroid gland doesn't bring down the intra-operative PTH. Then the search for the other bad gland starts and potential problems can occur like a long exploratory surgery or a good gland being removed. In a nutshell, this is the place to go for parathyroid surgery. I can't say this strongly enough.

World-class expertise and service. I had my surgery in November 2019 to remove one parathyroid tumor. My local endocrinologist in Idaho was barely responsive to my concerns and labs. I coordinated with my primary care physician and NPC for my repeat labs and assessment between September 2019 and October 2019. By October, I was scheduled for surgery in November. I was able to fly to Tampa and have my surgery before my local endocrinologist even called back to see if I warranted imaging.

Since surgery I have regained my life!! I m only 41 years old and was experiencing so much bone pain that I couldn t even make it through a geriatric water aerobics class. Now, I m doing heavy lifting, biking, and keeping up with my kids. No more daily headaches, mood swings, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc. It really is like having a fresh lease on life and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Politz and everyone else at NPC for making the whole process so easy.

After a failed first surgery in my hometown near R...

After a failed first surgery in my hometown near Richmond Virginia, I made the choice to follow up with Norman Parathyroid Center. I had read all the info on the website prior to the first surgery but decided to take a chance with my local surgeon - BIG MISTAKE. She removed two good glands and left me with the adenoma and scar tissue during a 6 hour procedure.

Thankfully, Dr. Norman accepted my case for surgery.

Everything at NPC was exactly as stated on their website. I knew what to expect but they went above and beyond! Everyone from the lady who took me to radiology to the nurse who helped me to the restroom and of course the doctors were very attentive, courteous and compassionate. Yes, it is somewhat of an assembly line but each person is treated individually and their focus is strictly on you when it's your turn. My heartfelt thanks to Kim, Kelly, Kathi, Erin and the rest of the team at NPC who was with me during this process. Surgery was a huge success completed in less than 20 minutes. Within 2 hours following surgery, I walked 4 blocks from the hotel to have a late lunch! Walking was something I dreaded because of leg pain but had absolutely no pain and I am enjoying feeling alive again.

Do not waste time seeing another surgeon for hyperparathyroidism. I'm convinced NPC is worth every penny and every minute of your time - the are truly the BEST!

Prior to ever meeting the Doctors or visiting the ...

Prior to ever meeting the Doctors or visiting the hospital , the experience was positive. A great line of communications was established. Questions were answered and concerns addressed very promptly and in a personal manner. Financial and insurance issues were explained and confirmed in advance. The hospital was friendly from the moment I pulled into the valet parking area. I knew exactly where to go and what to look for. My wife was allowed to accompany me and she was made to be as comfortable as I was while my needs were being taken care of. The reception area and check in process was very pleasant with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Dr. Politz was busy and I am sure he is everyday, but when it came my turn he slowed down, answered all my questions and was very polite and friendly in doing so. He had clearly read my chart and case notes prior to coming into the room and acted as though we were old acquaintances but in a genuine way nothing phony about it. The anesthesiology team did a great job of explaining things and putting any concerns to rest (no pun intended). Quite frankly this has been extremely satisfying. An easy and refreshing experience, even pleasant, that has restored my confidence in what the health care world can still be like if doctors and staff make the effort to listen and respect their patients as individuals. By the way, I am feeling much better!! more energetic, with a renewed enthusiasm for the day. Day two post-op I was SORE ALL OVER!! Literally every muscle in my body including some I forgot I had! and whoever retracted my tongue must have been a brute. I had a pretty good tear/ulcer in the floor of my mouth that took a couple days to heal. I think taking the calcium resolved the soreness. Now two weeks post-op I am walking several miles a day, swimming laps and bicycling. I am amazed how much better I feel and my mood is better too ..And naps are no longer necessary. SO FAR SO GOOD!!

The Norman Parathyroid Center sets whole new stand...

The Norman Parathyroid Center sets whole new standards for the practice of evidence-based medicine and for patient care, bucking multiple U.S. trends in the opposite direction. The reference materials that it makes available to prospective patients are pure genius, deftly and completely debunking, through carefully amassed data and impeccable reasoning, misconceptions that have, for too long, formed obstacles to patients receiving precise and curative treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism. Even had my surgery experience not been perfect (as it was), I would have come through treatment at NPC with nothing but endless admiration and gratitude for its sheer excellence by every measure. That its surgeons visibly love what they do tells me that they are being reinforced (and steadily refreshed) by the superb outcomes that they get to shape and then witness daily.

The Norman Parathyroid Center has literally saved ...

The Norman Parathyroid Center has literally saved my life. The care at the facility started with the first calls to set up my blood tests. The nurses, surgical attendants were so helpful to explain procedures and help me understand the process.
My Doctor Boone called me at home in Boston to ask how I was feeling e explained my blood work and suggested that I set up the surgery since my PTH had doubled in six months
I came to hospital after reading all the information and instructions on the Parathyroid app on my iPhone.
The 5am entrance was so well coordinated thru registration to all the steps leading to ultrasound and surgery. Every nurse. All the Technicians, and Doctors introduced me to their specialty and explained what would happen. I was relaxed and happy to be so well informed. Each step of the process was easy because the people were very caring and helpful. My Doctor Boone explained everything after the surgery to assure me. This care was Extraordinary. Every one was thoughtful and helped me understand what I needed to do. When I left the hospital. They surprised me with a get well card signed by the whole team and my Dr Boone called me at 8:00pm that evening to check on me and further explained the process. Call our team any time with any questions or concerns.

This was the very best hospital experience I have ever had in my life. Very professional but caring and thoughtful of my concerns.

I will recommend the Norman Parathyroid Center to all as the premier facilities in the country, If not the world.
Thank you all for your excellent care. I feel like a new woman and much younger. God bless you all for a job well done.

Tomorrow on the 28th of July, I ll be celebrating my 42nd birthday with my friends. One month ago, on the 28th of June in Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa, dr. Jose Lopez with his wonderful team performed the surgery and removed three parathyroid glands and three tumors from my body. I am endlessly grateful to dr. Lopez and to his team. I have no adequate words to express my deepest gratitude to everyone working at the Center: caring surgeons, nurses and staff. They all radiated kindness, professionalism, and expertise. It s a long distance from my country (Macedonia) to Florida, but now I m glad I took this trip. One month after the surgery, my general health condition significantly improved and I m feeling great. I highly recommend the Norman Parathyroid Center to all patients suffering from problems with the parathyroid glands.

Every member of the staff. from the surgeons to the transporters, the nurses and technicians are all so professional, knowledgeable, courteous and reassuring. And just plain great at what they do!
I researched Norman parathyroid for over a year and a half before I made the decision to break up with my endocrinologist who had a let s wait and see what happens attitude.
I found another endocrinologist in my area to get a second opinion. She agreed that I was a candidate for surgery. And when I told her that I wanted to go to Norman parathyroid in Tampa her response was affirmative. Letting me know that she has had other patients travel to Tampa to have their surgery performed by the normal Parathyroid group.
I think the most important part of my review is this : The Norman Parathyroid group allows Patients to be advocates for their own health. They provide so much empowering information to the general public and to patients with primary hyperparathyroidism. I am so grateful to them for allowing me to start a new and healthier chapter in my life.

After being symptomatic for many years with high calcium I was led to the wonderful website at the Parathyroid Center. After a review of my medical records, Dr. Daniel Ruan called to consult with me and provide a diagnosis of primary hyperthyroidism. On August 6, 2018 I entered surgery at The Parathyroid Center with Doctors Ruan, Politz, Parrack attending. Words cannot express my heartfelt THANKS for the attentiveness I received under their care in the diagnosis and 30 minute minimal invasive, radio guided Parathyroid surgery which cured my hyperparathyroidism!
The knowledge and expertise of their Dream Team , including the nursing, clinical & surgical staff provided reassurance by their friendly, comforting manner. I knew that I was in the hands of THE BEST in the country.
I am already feeling the positive effects in my body through the procedure which removed 1 Parathyroid adenoma (tumor). There is no one more knowledgeable about parathyroid disease and the effects on your body. Through the Parathyroid App, my pleasant consultation with Dr. Ruan, and the efficiency of your Team, I am now cured and able to fulfill God s purpose for my life. May God bless you with continued success in your unique techniques for curing parathyroid disease!

Was very impressed bye the beautiful facility, the doctors, nurses and staff. They were very friendly yet professional in their demeanor. Felt that my Dr spent is significant amount of time with me to relieve my concerns about surgery while I was still on warfarin. I would recommend Norman parathyroid Center and encourage people with parathyroid disease to seek help at the center.

I had a great experience! I had some weird symptoms in September 2019 so I went to my regular doctor for blood tests. The rests showed I had a high calcium and high parathyroid hormone. I was referred to an endocrinologist who tested me again and this time my calcium was in the normal range and my PTH was lower although still elevated. I had told the endocrinologist that I was anxious to get surgery done to alleviate my symptoms, which included terrible insomnia, odd hunger pangs, excessive thirst and fatigue. The endocrinologist told me to get re tested in 4 months and that my new blood tests were great news. Against the advice of a close family member who is a doctor, I decided to go ahead and have the consultation with the Norman Parathyroid people. Dr Parrack said based on my blood tests I was 99% sure to have a tumor. He said the calcium levels fluctuate and you could test me 20 different times and get different results. I had read the entire website and researched the disease and I decided to have the surgery. I felt a little weird about the whole thing since I would never normally seek more medical care than that advised by a doctor. Friends told me to seek third opinions because the surgery sounded invasive. Well, yesterday I had the surgery and got my photo of the ugly tumor that had fully encapsulated one of my parathyroid glands. I am so glad I was able to refer myself to the Norman Parathyroid Center to get this done! I am sleeping better already and look forward to living a better life.

Dr. Lopez was my surgeon and was able to reach the adenoma that we initially thought was in the chest. I was very concerned about that; however, they just cannot be sure as to where these parathyroids are from the scans, so no need to stress out. They deal with these daily. Read everything on their website and on the app then read it again; excellent info! We were all lined up, prepped and ready for surgery, just like a well-oiled machine, yet all personnel were very professional and mission-driven. I'm five days post op and feeling better & stronger each day. Have not needed anything stronger than Aleve. Maybe should not have gone out to dinner that evening...just stayed in my hotel room and slept! You're in excellent hands at the Norman Parathyroid Group and Tampa General Hospital...as easy as they say it is! Now on to better health!!

I am a practising Dentist in NJ and after doing my homework I decided to have my parathyroid surgery at the Norman Parathyroid Center. When I asked my endocrinologist where she would send her mother for this procedure she said Tampa.
All I can say is that everyone involved with the center exceeded my expectations. They made the complete process as stress free as surgery can be with kindness and professionalism. Dr Kevin Parrack guided me through the process and at the end of a long day I felt I had made a friend . As i write this review the evening of my surgery I have some discomfort but that is to be expected after the removal of two tumors. I don't expect to take any pain medication this evening and I am confident I am cured. If you can get to Tampa to have a complicated and tricky surgery done by great and caring surgeons and staff do it,it is worth the trip.

The removal of a parathyroid tumor in Tampa was the most positive experience I have every had with any medical professionals! Dr. Norman, Dr. Lopez and Dr. Boone each took time to meet me, discuss my case and patiently answer all of my questions prior to the surgery. Every nurse, technician, aide, etc was excellent, kind, patient, informative and encouraging throughout the entire 4 hours in the hospital. The additional paperwork given to me to better understand the recovery process was another example of the personal attention I received and was very helpful to me when I returned home.

We had seen 20 doctors over last 5 years. Finally our neurologist diagnosed parathyroid problem, but local endocrinologist would do nothing. Found web site for Norman Parathyroid Center and great information that explained my symptoms. We flew from Redding, Ca. to Tampa, Fl. for surgery Jan. 24, 2018. They removed a large, overgrown parathyroid gland that was putting out 1028 units of hormone (30-80 normal). Gone is leg jerking for 3 hours at night. Gone are night chills needing heating pad and extra clothes. Mental fog is clearing. Strength is returning. So thankful!

I had an amazing experience at NPC in Tampa. The secretaries, doctors, nurses, and basically every person I came in contact with here were friendly and professional. The facility itself is beautiful and welcoming. Finally discovering that four little glands were the cause of so much physical and emotional pain which I had endured for looks like over 7 years I couldn t wait to get to NPC! Right now as I write this on day 3 post-op Iam finally pain free and ready to get back to doing the things I love!! Many thanks to the docs at NPC!

Today i had Parathroid surgery. #parathyroidawareness I was not even going to post this but my main goal is to help anyone that is suffering from chronic fatigue, bone pain migraines, unexplained high blood pressure and unusual symptoms your doctor can't diagnose. It is sad to say that I am a nurse and was suffering from these symptoms for 5 to 10 years. The pain became normal to me, i linked it to aging. I've never missed my yearly physical, and I've never had an abnormal lab results until last year. I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroid disease.
Since I've relocated to Florida I had to get a new Provider. Last August my calcium level lab results could no longer remain in check and showed slightly elevated. My new curious physician ordered more lab work including parathyroid hormone levels which came back off the charts. Light bulb moment!! I was referred to an endocrinologist, Dexa scan showed my bones were deteriorating and was at risk for fractures. I needed surgery. Fast forward #postopday1 today and feeling great.

I have to thank my family, and friends for their support. The nurses, staff, and surgeons at Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa Fl and also the Tampa General Hospital staff for the excellent care I received during my diagnosis, planning process, surgery and even my aftercare.
If you are suffering from any of these symptoms please ask your doctor to order a serum plasma parathyroid hormone levels, your calcium may not show abnormal for years. Don't suffer in silence. And get the best surgeons, they are at the Norman Parathyroid Center.

The Norman Parathyroid Center is the real deal. Th...

The Norman Parathyroid Center is the real deal. They set the state of the art for curing parathyroid disease. What they claim on their web site is exactly what I experienced at Tampa. I am at this writing 72 hours post op. I have no discomfort at all. What they do and how they do it seems a miracle. That is how expertise appears. Their claims to gracious patient care are true. It will be the best patient centered care you will ever receive.

I am a 78 year old man from New Hampsire whose doctor recognized my elevated calcium level in routeen blood test as parathyroid disease. He explained what the disease is caused by and what the long term detrimental effects would be. And, surgery is a cure. To confirm the tentative diagnoses, I took a blood test for parathyroid hormone. Elevated parathyroid hormone proved I had the disease. I had no noticeable, to me, symptoms. My doctor indicated this was a disease he might no see as often as once a decade, uncommon but not rare. Trusting I had excellent research skills he set me to researching how I would treat this condition. I was convinced to have surgery as soon as practical as time was not on my side. A Google search indicated immediately the Norman Parathyroid Center with its impressive data, and to me boasting. I did not want to trek to Tampa when Boston hospitals are renouned to have world class medicine. I was surprised to find parathyroid surgery at Boston was not world renowned. Further I read the testimonials about treatment at NPC, about 200 testimonials. Within those testimonials, there were 50 from medical professionals, doctors, surgeons and operating room nurses who gave rave reviews of their treatment at NPC. Through professional contacts these persons had far better resources to evaluate NPC than I. Drilling down into these medical professionals, I found 5 from the the Boston area with several associated with the big name teaching hospitals. My conclusion was NPC is where I would go to cure my Parathyroid disease. I notified my doctor who indicated he was not used to his paticents having surgeries outside our area, but bottom line he trusted my decision. I contacted NPC, submitted my medical information, received my consultation from Dr. Lopez, and scheduled my surgery at Tampa General Hospital.

On July 23, 2018, Dr. Lopez assisted by Dr. Boone removed two bad parathyroid glans. I am cured! I went from never hearing about parathyroid disease before June sixth to cured on July twent- third. I believe this could only happen through Norman Parathyroid Center. Not only as well done but as quickly.

Dr. Lopez, my nurse Leo and all the people at NPC treated me as a patient and a person in a superlative manner I can not explain in words. I am sure any NPC team that treated you would do as well. They are brilliant. What you read on their web site and apt is what you will get, there are none better. It's the real deal.

I had my surgery 5/3/18 and felt pretty lousy for about 3 days. After that it was like someone flipped a switch. I not only felt better, I slept better, had more energy and just generally felt great. The truly wonderful thing was the change in my pain level from my arthritis. I have suffered from very painful arthritis in my feet for several years and the pain is so much less now it is truly wonderful. A very bad pain in my hip, which was a more recent development, is now completely gone. What a gift. Thank you to everyone involved in this field. I am now educated more than I ever imagined and tell everyone to pay attention to their calcium level. I wish all physical problems could be resolved this easily. Thank you to the team and praise the Lord!

The Norman Parathyroid Center is truly the best pl...

The Norman Parathyroid Center is truly the best place in the country to get your parathyroid surgery performed. I am a physician, and had my surgery done there yesterday. From start to finish, the entire process was done with the highest medical skill, and also with incredible staff friendliness, professionalism and attention to detail. The facility is beautiful and state of the art. I believe all of the intake personnel, techs, nurses, anesthesiology doctors, nurse anesthetists and, of course, the parathyroid surgeons themselves genuinely cared about me as a person and their patient, never making me feel like I was just another stop on the assembly line. The fact that they perform parathyroid surgeries through such a small incision, remove the tumors preserving the gland if possible, investigate all four glands no matter what the nuclear medicine scan showed, and use the latest technology intraoperatively to ensure they know how much parathyroid hormone each gland is producing, IS very special and unique. Never doubt that this is worth the trip to Tampa, because what they offer is definitely the best way in every respect. These things were not available in North Carolina where I live, even from well-respected, excellent ear, nose and throat doctors at a major medical center, simply because they do not ONLY focus on hyperparathyroidism and parathyroid surgery like the Norman Center does. Getting a second opinion consultation from the Norman Parathyroid Center and deciding to have my surgery here was absolutely the smartest and best decision possible, and I did a huge amount of research into it and examined every shred of medical and surgical knowledge about hyperparathyroidism beforehand. I have a somewhat unique perspective since I am a physician and surgeon myself, though not a specialist in this area, and I can assure anyone contemplating having their surgery here that you are making the right decision, and that every patient will be treated with the highest degree of compassion and skill. I have the utmost respect for the incredible website they have built, which provides information and imparts knowledge with such completeness and detail in varying levels of difficulty so that everyone can understand it, regardless of scientific or medical experience. They get my highest recommendation, and I can say with 100% confidence that everyone deciding to have their surgery done here can rest assured they will be getting the best care possible and will leave completely satisfied. Thank you to everyone who took such good care of me!

I had the pleasure consulting with Dr Norman recently about my Parathyroid operation here in Brisbane Australia. I was impressed with his straight forward confident approach.
my recommendations follow:

Your health is about you taking control with you finding the best solution for a 100% CURE!!!
Private enterprise produces champions like Jim. He genuinely cared for me as an individual. Use him! I wish I did.
He has developed and patented a device that tells him in 2 seconds if your biopsied piece of gland is good or bad. No hanging under general anaesthesia while your samples are diagnosed elsewhere.
He knows where the glands are located because of his experience.
You are not intubated, the risks are reduced significantly, and recovery is fast; you breathe normally while still being under sedation.
His team can get a 100% cure in just a few minutes, this is WHAT THEY DO ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!
He checks all four glands.

If I relapse, I will be in Tampa quickly for the definitive CURE!!!

I have felt that something has been off in my body for over 12 years. My readings were in the low end of high- PTH slight elevated. My Drs said they would keep watching it. Mean time, my calcium levels were higher than normal and now, I have severe osteoporosis. I reasearched internet after consulting w a new physician assistant I am now seeing, he is the one who said, I probably had hyperparathyroidism. The Norman Parathyroid Clinic seemed to have this down to a science plus they do so many each day. My experience today was Awsome, efficient and feeling amazing, however sleeping some then we are going out to dinner. A normal reading on the one they removed 30-90 and mine was 701. My body was declining daily. This gives me so much hope that I can start feeling like my old self... soon! Without weakness in my legs and many other symptoms Please listen to your body, it s not just getting older as I have always been very active.... do your research, push for testing, don t give up. This clinic is amazing - they know what they are doing!

Patient: Monte J. Mariani Temperance Michigan
I want to thank Dr. Doug Politz, Dr. Deva Boone and the entire staff at the Norman Parathyroid Center for the surgery of removing a parathyroid adenoma and a partial left thyroid lobectomy from me on August 26, 2019. The Sestamibi scan had showed that I had an enlarged thyroid making the parathyroid surgery that more difficult. Once known, the entire staff took extra care to make sure I was treated safely and effectively during the entire procedure. My surgery took longer than normal but in the end the operation was a complete success. I don t think I would have had the same confidence with anyone else performing the operation. You are true professionals here at the Norman Parathyroid Center.
I must point out that on the evening after the operation, I was eating ice cream and I noticed that my eye sight was clearer. Previously my eyesight seemed a little out of focus even with my glasses on (as if I lived in a fog). Now it is like someone turned on a switch (adjusted the binoculars) and my eyesight became much clearer. This is wonderful. I can t wait to see how other things in my life will change for the better. Thank you again Dr. Politz, Dr. Boone and everyone else involved in my operation.
God Bless all of you
Monte Mariani

After having unsuccessful thoracic surgery in Albany, NY for a parathyroid located behind my left sternum, I thankfully found Dr Norman and the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa Florida. Unsure of what damage was done in the initial failed surgery, Dr Norman made it clear he would do the best he could to remove the tumor through the neck. If unable to do this my only recourse was opening my chest to get the tumor out. His skill and expertise not only allowed the removal of this tumor, but he also found a second tumor in the neck. Anyone who has a parathyroid issue should not go anywhere else and contact the Norman Parathyroid Center without delay.

It is August 2018 and this week I flew to Florida from Texas to have surgery by the doctors in the Norman Parathyroid Center. I am 4 days post op after surgery. Dr. Mitchell removed two parathyroid tumors. Every day I am feeling better. For years I have been suffering from muscle and joint pain and weakness, cardiac symptoms, critical bone scans, high blood pressure, one mild stroke, degenerative joint disease.... Much of the trouble started with a hyper-thyroid event treated with radioactive iodine. I thought that would cure me forever and was very glad to find such a good doctor to diagnose me in 1991. Still my pains and degeneration of my joints and muscles, continued. I think my first high calcium level after the thyroid procedure, was around 1993. I have listened to everything I can find about Dr. James Norman and his incredible team of doctors. I found it as I prayed for help and looked up high calcium on Google. My first YouTube I heard was Dr. Norman explaining the type of pain and suffering I had been going through and providing a solution. My husband and I found my lab history, filled out the form and I was accepted as a patient. Today, on my 4th day post op, I am feeling stronger, almost pain free and a little younger then last week. Thank you so much to this team and the care they are able to give in the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa, Florida. Heavenly Father, bless this mission, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

EXCELLENT HOSPITAL FOR PARATHYROID SURGERY. Worth the trip for this level of care. Check in was easy, 15 minutes later in my room, then a quick and easy IV was started, off for a scan, then a meeting with my surgeon, anesthetist and nurse. Then off to surgery. 3 hours later ready to go back to our hotel. Later in the evening a call from my surgeon to check on me. The next morning I feel great!

Dr. Politz was professional and constantly reassuring. I do feel like the surgeons here are excellent at surgery, but the follow-up care is not something they really concern themselves with. If a parathryoidectomy resolves your hypercalcemia, then great, if not, well, then they don't really know what to tell you. I was hypercalcemic again within a month post-op. When I contacted NPC I was only ever able to speak with a nurse and was simply told to wait it out and things would level out. I am now 1 year post-op and things have not leveled out, but rather have gotten worse. I regret jumping the gun and rushing into the surgery without first finding out what type of follow-up care I could expect if the procedure did not correct my condition.

Great Surgeon
Great Hospital
Couple of things I will complain about
1-They DO NOT give Pain Medicine Perscriptions,
Nothing, I had a 7 hour journey home and I had too stop at the Emergancy room to get a prescription, I called Dr Norman s office and they said they do not give ANY Pain Perscriptions..
Yes, there was a lot of pain, pain for four days
2-There s no after care, Once you leave your on your own, So do your Homework on Recovery from the Surgery
Look, they cured Me
I had parathyroid disease for over ten years,
But it takes time too get better, Not like the Website states, it took me a Year to feel better,
Good luck to All and Listen too your body, Not your local doctors, they won t recognize Parathyroid disease

The doctors and nurses are extraordinary. So kind, knowledgeable, personable and put you at ease. There are no surprises since all the information is shared with the patient, in great detail, weeks prior to the surgery and also at the hospital. The website is fabulous and I learned so very much about this disease, which I have had for over ten years and never fully understood. It's now two weeks since my surgery and I feel fine. From start to finish, the Norman Parathyroid Center was incredible. After researching the information on their website, including the mini surgery, my mind was made up. Because of the depth and scope of information on their website about Hyperparathyroidism, I was able to question my physicians here. I knew I had a tumor but I was facing a 2 hour surgery and was told I might get another tumor later on. Dr here wouldn't check the other three Parathyroid glands. I ended up being in the 30% that had 2 tumors. I even printed and took some of their information to bolster my case with my doctors. It's easy to become their patient, and every single person I had contact with was professional and kind. When I walked into the Parathyroid Center the day of my surgery, I was amazed. They give you a plan to follow and they stick to it. You feel like you're the most important person there. They even had a person to help me get dressed. Every detail is explained. I absolutely love Dr Politz. He was the surgeon who called me before my trip and he called me the night of my surgery too. The confidence and knowledge base of these doctors is unmatched by anyone and I just want to say thank you to all. I echo their advice about how important choosing your parathyroid surgeon is. I wish I could remember everyone's name, but part of my disability is cognitive.

I had a history of elevated calcium levels, coupled with an inappropriate PTH level. I also had developed symptoms, such as: osteoporosis, abdominal and back pain, severe leg cramps, and tiredness and confusion. From the extensive reading and research that I had done, I knew that I had hyperparathyroidism. I self-referred to Norman Parathyroid Center. Soon after, Dr. Doug Politz, from Norman Parathyroid Center, phoned me, and we had the nicest phone conversation. He confirmed that I had hyperparathyroidism, and we made plans for surgery.

At the hospital, you meet other patients, and it becomes a lovely day. Drs. Deva Boone and Jim Norman did my surgery, also visiting me before and after, and Dr. Jose Lopez also visited me before and after. They were all very nice. They removed a huge 10-year-old tumor which they said with 10 years of doctors ignoring this. I still have 3 normal parathyroid glands that will do the work. It all went so very well. I m regaining strength, energy, and brain-power YA HOO! Thank you Drs. Deva Boone and Jim Norman for this miraculous surgery!

It was determined from many blood tests that I had parathyroid disease and severe osteoporosis. After many negative scans, ultrasounds, doctors' visits, and a "wait and see" attitude, exploratory surgery was recommended to me. It seemed like the disease and how to cure it was little understood, or explained, even by the surgeon. I was not confident about having a surgeon exploring for a tumour when he did not know where it was, through some large incision, without any mention that my disease would be cured. It was not until we discovered the Norman Parathyroid Center on the internet, that I understood the dangers of prolonged parathyroid disease. After reading the material and watching the videos, I began to build confidence that they could reverse the symptoms I was experiencing and provide a cure. We made arrangements to travel to the Norman Parathyroid Center at the Tampa General Hospital and I had the best of care ever, my tumour removed in 16 minutes through a small incision, by the best parathyroid surgeons in the world. The care I received before, during and after the surgery was exceptional. The staff are friendly, cooperative, caring, and always available to answer my questions. I was attended by three physicians prior to my surgery, Dr. Norman, Dr. Boone, and the anesthetist, who all took time to talk to me, answer any questions that I had, and assure me of a positive outcome. I only wish I had seen Dr. Norman years ago. It is difficult for Canadians to make the decision to go south of the border, but it was worth it. S. Hutcheson, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada.

Once I was diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism I was determined to find the best surgeon/s in the world to correct my problem. My research led me to Norman Parathyroid Center and this is by far the most positive medical experience I have ever had. They treated me with utmost care and loving kindness from the very start. Every interaction with them was professional, authentically caring and kind, and they always made me feel like I was their most valued and important patient.
My time zone is 6 hours behind ESDT and Dr. Ruan conducted the phone consultation with my husband and I at 9pm his time, to accommodate the time difference. He took his time with us, he was informative and thorough, patiently answered all of our questions, and showed sincere concern throughout our discussion.
My stay at the Hampton Inn, one of their recommended partners, was very comfortable they take particularly good care of their Norman Center patients.
From the time I walked into the Norman Center at my scheduled time, each and every person took a personal interest in me, showing sincere care and concern, clearly explaining what they will be doing with me and what I can expect. Each of the 3 surgeons and the anesthesiologist stopped by to introduce themselves, offering to answer any questions, and talked about what I can expect and even took time to meet my 2 daughters who accompanied me. After my surgery Dr. Norman came to talk post-op and he spent no less than 20 minutes, discussing his findings and describing what I can expect over the next few weeks. It was extremely quality time, he wanted to be sure my questions and concerns were addressed and we even had a few laughs together.
Everything I had read on Norman Parathyroid Center website regarding the complete process was very accurate. All of the people were friendly, kind and caring. The Norman Center App is an extremely useful tool, offering step by step information and a very thorough FAQ section. I spent my career in the medical industry and I never imagined a surgical procedure, such as this, could in any way be associated with a positive experience, but Norman Parathyroid Center family of professionals certainly convinced me otherwise. They set the bar extremely high! I will recommend the Norman Parathyroid Center to anyone and everyone with a parathyroid condition they are THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!

Update 1.2 years since my surgery! Gone are the d...

Update 1.2 years since my surgery! Gone are the days of a wet blanket fatigue that ruined my daily life. Gone is my high blood pressure, splitting headaches, hoarse throat and more. I am so glad I found this hospital and Dr Parrack. What a life changing experience. Thank you!

My experience was awesome! My surgery was exactly as planned. While the surgery time was very short my tumor was more than 19 years old. Dr. Parrack had to carefully remove my old tumor from the areas it had grown around. My recovery was great and I traveled on an airplane the next evening. My incision was small and I immediately felt better. Things I did to make this experience great for me:
I was totally hydrated, relaxed, confident and happy I was getting this procedure done. I did my homework and talked with friends before getting this procedure done. I had to self refer since not one doctor in 19 years did anything about my high Calcium lab results! I used the App to input my lab results and I read tons about this disease; other associated diseases; and looked at what surgeon I wanted cutting on my neck. In the end all of the decisions came naturally. I ended up having my surgery done by the surgeons, staff, hospital and medical support staff that I felt was the most prepared and equipped to handle me. The bonus was the application that explained what was going to happen; who you would meet; what hotels they suggested; a video of the outside of the hospital and so much more. I am five days post op and I have the rest of my reclaimed life to look forward to! Thank you Dr. Barrack and all of the people at the Norman Parathyroid Center who made my experience safe, positive and possible.

I had my parathyroid removed in September 2014

I had my parathyroid removed in September 2014
They did a great job, But, They Do Not give you a prescription for pain medication, Nothing.
Not even Ibuprofen
I was in so much pain by the time I got home to Boca raton, I called Dr. Boone, she said she can't call in pain medication, And it will get better in 2 days, It was very painful
I finally went to the Emergency room and they wrote me a prescription for tramadol
Listen, my pth now is 12 from 76 before the surgery, My calcium is 9.7 from 10.5 before the surgery.
Am I cured like dr Normans site said No, I still have high blood pressure, gerd, pains in my body.I'm NOT Saying Don't GET THE surgery, Get It..It will cure you. But it's not a Overnight cure,It takes time for your body to heal I say over a year.
There is not much in the area of Aftercare with this surgeon so have a dr ready if you need a visit or for pain management
Once you leave there office, your on Your Own.
They call you once and than you will never hear from them again.
Don t live with the parathyroid disease, I had high calcium for 7 years and my doctor said he wanted to watch it.
Get it out, you will feel better
Good bless

Later in the day of surgery I felt good. That lasted two days then I went into a slump. It appeared that about two weeks after then the tiredness started to disappear fairly quickly. I am following all the pharmaceutical recommendations provided, at at this three week time frame feel fairly well.

It appears that my rheumatologist is peeved that I went ahead to make the decision to have the surgery based on blood tests. Even though he mentioned that Parathyroid may be the issue, he stalled to make the decision that I made. I think he is avoiding me by making me see his nurse practitioner. She is wonderful.

Anyway I made the decision and even my internal medicine physician thought the decision was a good one prior to the trip to Tampa. Fortunately my son is a pharmacist and he said "As always I would recommend listening to your own body/mental status if you feel something is wrong...."
So if you don't feel good be your own medical advocate, always!

Very nice experience, but the photo of the tumors ...

Very nice experience, but the photo of the tumors that were allegedly removed shows a magazine from 2016? The family needs to see proof of what was removed, not some anonymous photo. Hopefully they will change their procedures and show proper chain of ownership.

I had the parathyroid surgery about 6 weeks ago. T...

I had the parathyroid surgery about 6 weeks ago. The surgery was quick and the incision small but in my case, I had a sore throat and painful swallowing for about one week. Maybe a bit longer than that.
Some people report that they have instantly felt better and bone pain gone, fatigue relieved, etc.
My recovery was more gradual however I have felt better every week and no longer want to nap in the afternoons. My hair and nails are prettier and my skin looks better. I'm happy that these positive changes occurred for me, as well as for others. I have had chronic pain in my left wrist and left heel for many months prior to surgery and this is largely gone. It didn't happen immediately but it is much better than it was.
The staff and hospital experience could not have been better and though our hotel had construction (Hampton Inn) it was quiet in our room and the staff were kind and friendly.
This was interesting and another patient at the hotel had a similar experience: when I got back to the hotel from surgery I thought I would be really tired and needing a nap. Instead I was very "wired up" and though my husband slept, I could not. I had trouble falling asleep that night as well, and I felt pretty good, just not tired.
Upon questioning Dr Boone, it was explained that the manipulation of the thyroid during the procedure might cause it to become more active, temporarily, and cause sleeplessness. It was all fine and quickly back to normal.
I sleep much better now and only get up once per night for the bathroom. Others may have better results but I do drink coffee and water frequently so the bladder does need emptying!
I would highly recommend this procedure to ANYONE with indications for it and I wish I had done it sooner. My high calcium labs went back at least 7 years. I don't think most endocrinologists know when to say get it done. However, I'm a nurse practitioner and I was on board with watchful waiting and not just them. There is a real lack of knowledge concerning hyperparathyroidism.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with NPC! Beginning with the fact that Dr. Lopez believed me when my Endocrinologist did not when I told him my symptoms, and he said I absolutely had this disease when my endo said probably not. The whole process of becoming their patient all the way through discharge was easy and stress- free. The staff were not just professional, but more importantly, they were kind and made me feel at ease on the day of my surgery. The surgery itself was uneventful and took all of about 20 minutes to remove 2 adenomas and 1 suspicious thyroid nodule.
I would most definitely recommend NPC to anyone who needs parathyroid surgery!
