I had a great experience! I had some weird symptoms in September 2019 so I went to my regular doctor for blood tests. The rests showed I had a high calcium and high parathyroid hormone. I was referred to an endocrinologist who tested me again and this time my calcium was in the normal range and my PTH was lower although still elevated. I had told the endocrinologist that I was anxious to get surgery done to alleviate my symptoms, which included terrible insomnia, odd hunger pangs, excessive thirst and fatigue. The endocrinologist told me to get re tested in 4 months and that my new blood tests were great news. Against the advice of a close family member who is a doctor, I decided to go ahead and have the consultation with the Norman Parathyroid people. Dr Parrack said based on my blood tests I was 99% sure to have a tumor. He said the calcium levels fluctuate and you could test me 20 different times and get different results. I had read the entire website and researched the disease and I decided to have the surgery. I felt a little weird about the whole thing since I would never normally seek more medical care than that advised by a doctor. Friends told me to seek third opinions because the surgery sounded invasive. Well, yesterday I had the surgery and got my photo of the ugly tumor that had fully encapsulated one of my parathyroid glands. I am so glad I was able to refer myself to the Norman Parathyroid Center to get this done! I am sleeping better already and look forward to living a better life.
