Fantastic cloudy day trip, one hour from Ocean City. Free to enter. Facility is good for 60-90 minutes of browsing. Some dated exhibits and some brand new. Includes 24-minute video which plays continuously. Several hands-on exhibits for children. Rooftop viewing area is fantastic for watching the nearby, aircraft carrier flight landing practice.

As far as NASA visitors centers go it's kind of small and the exhibits are OK. If you're just visiting to see a NASA facility on a whim then it's probably underwhelming.
But if you visit on a launch day then it's an altogether different experience. There's a lot of excitement in the air and the place is packed with fellow NASA fans. Expect a long line at the gift shop (but it's totally worth the wait to get your astronaut food).
I was there as a member of the media so I sat in on every briefing (the press auditorium is right inside the main entrance) so my experience may not be typical.
Outside (on a launch day) there were plenty of places to enjoy the launch from on the grounds but don't be surprised if parking gets a bit difficult. The atmosphere is a very electric one, especially as the launch gets closer.
Overall I had an amazing experience at the NASA Wallops Visitor Center but that was a launch day. If it's not a launch day don't expect it to compare to the big headline NASA centers (Like Kennedy or Johnson Space Centers).
Very cool to visit! We stopped while we were on our way back from Chincoteague and it was definitely a good stop. Bathrooms were clean which is always a plus. Decent gift shop too.
If you are coming for a launch, try to be there at least 3 hours before. There is a small parking lot, and during launches they would some of the grassy area for parking, but still the parking is limited to about a hundred vehicles.
It's everything I thought it would be. I took my grandbabies to watch the Antares launch on 11/02/2019 because it was their birthday. I was inspired by my grandparents who always had me watch the launches in t.v. This was spectacular in many ways.
I came here at 12:30am on a Sunday night to see an Antares rocket launch from Wallops Island and I'm happy to say I would defintley return. Both the facility and the launch made for a breathtaking experience that cannot be explained. It was amazing to see the various sounding rockets around the visitor center as well as the work the staff goes through to make each launch special. I can't wait to return and would defintley recommend coming here if you enjoy anything related to rockets
You can have self guided tour of the visitor center. There are occasional rocket launches from Wallops. The visitor center is a short drive to/from Chincoteague.
Fun museum for about an hour. There was a puppet show for kids scheduled, but the staff didn't want to perform it. Play area with puzzles for the very young.
We learned so much and if you have a LO's even better. They offer free storytime and other family activities, so if you stay at the beach for a few days check out their schedule. Worth it!
I have been here many times in the past. The programs they have taking place for Drop Ins caught all the kids attention that I was with. The staff was helpful in answering our questions.
Didn t realize how awesome this place was! I ve driven by so many times but never stopped by. Great experience especially with children. Very educational.
This is a nice stop if you are going to or leaving Assateague. There museum is small but the gift shop sells cool stuff. They have clean restrooms and free a/c!
Small visitor center but it has lots to do. From videos to puzzles there are little things all over to get your kids in to science. My 12 and 17 year old both enjoyed it.
Love this place! Watching launches here is a great time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The parking is crazy on launch days and unless you get there 4 or more hours early you will have to park on the side of the road and walk, but the walk shouldn't be more than 10-15 minutes. The visitor center is small but has some interesting exhibits. They bring in porta potties but still expect to wait in line to use the bathroom, so plan ahead especially if you have kids. The seating is only a couple of bleachers that fill up fast but there is more than enough grassy space for lawn chairs and blankets. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND seeing a night launch if possible, it is more impressive, and a smaller crowd.
Big disappointment. Strictly for young children. With all the holes NASA blows though the Ozone with they're rockets , could of spent some more tax payer's money on the center.
What an awesome place, more NASA rocket launches than Cape Canaveral and adjacent to Chincoteague Wildlife area and their gougeous native ponies. A must visit if in the Delmarva area...
A great place to stop by and visit if you're in the area, plus it is free. They have a 25 minute video that talks about the facility and they have a handful of exhibits. The staff is very friendly.
Amazing place to view the launched. Get there a few hours early as it becomes very busy very quickly and they will close the parking lot when full. Bring some food out chairs as there are only two sets of bleachers.
Go for a launch! The flight facility visitor s center is small, but very well run and clean. The employees were lovely. The best time to go is certainly for a launch. For a large launch, arrive as early as possible. Parking is well-run. There are bleachers, but you ll want to bring your own chairs and blankets. Employees were giving out information and even children s coloring pages and postcards on the launch. Come prepared with food and know that bathroom options are limited. The bathrooms in the visitor s center were clean, there just weren t nearly enough - and not enough porta potties, either. Everything was free, which is amazing. NASA Kennedy Center charges $100+/person for admission to watch a launch. Hearing protection not needed!
Very nice. A lot of information about the area and history of the Island. They were doing take off and landing exercises while we were there, really cool to watch!
There is not too much to see and do here, but what they have is interesting and it's free to get in, so your not losing anything (except time) if you don't enjoy it. My son just loved seeing the missiles and the interactive displays. My husband was here when he was young and he loved bringing our son to experience the same thing.
This place is awesome!!! I went here to see the solar eclipse and the people there were so nice to me!! I even got interviewed by wboc while seeing the eclipse!! It was such an awesome day! Especially I love space its really interesting!
Wow! To be able to walk around such a historic site is amazing. The birthplace of American rocketry. Excellent interactive displays and exhibits though maybe a little too high level for younger kids. Entrance is free which is nice, I would happily have paid. Gift shop is well stocked and varied and not too expensive. Good parking, easy access for disabled to almost every part of the site as well.
We visited here when my daughter was attending a camp at Wallops. She was allowed on the actual base but the visitor center is seperate. There is a small museum but really not much to see. There is a viewing stand for any launches that I believe is open to the public. They do not allow tours of the flight facility that I am aware of. That would have made it 5 stars for sure.
