Great family stop-off on the way to Chincoteague island. Always a lot of fun for the family and it is FREE!
Great family stop-off on the way to Chincoteague island. Always a lot of fun for the family and it is FREE!
Great experience. Did not know the history of the location that surprised me
Great place to stop and see the sights from NASA! Open from 10-4.
Free, several outdoor to, but few exhibits inside. Unless your family wants to read each display, smaller children will be done in thirty minutes or less.
Attended a night launch. Visitor Center was open for the event. Just awesome!
Fantastic views - safety was priority.
The visitor's centre itself has little to be desired. It is quite boring and the learning modules appeared to have been set up haphazardly. Not a good place for children or aerospace nuts, sadly. There was, however, a very large area for @NASASocial and other social media/press to do their work indoors with launch information readily available.
Under some construction at the moment but we visit once a year and its always a fun educational time for the kids.
It was pretty cool! Something different on a rainy day and we look forward to going back in the Spring to see a rocket launch! Also want to look into a Summer Camp experience for the girls
I was disappointed. Yes it is free which is. Ice for a family of 6, but it was mainly drawings submitted by elementary schools for a drawing contest. 1 interactive thing for balencing and spinning. Eh. It was better last time I went 18-20 years ago The artwork was very impressive, especially for the ages the students are.
Very knowledgeable staff. Solar system program was very well done and interesting. The Apollo at 50 art displayed was very well done.
Home to NASA's sounding rocket, balloon lab, and flight facilities as well as the Mid Atlantic Regional Spaceport, Wallops is integral to NASA's science and space goals. It is amazing to see how much great stuff is going on there.
The museum is free and informative. You can roam the grounds and take pictures with the various scale model rockets.
Very interesting. Lots of information to be absorbed.
Interesting place but those bugs on the path to the building OMG. They should see if there is any way to control them
Very cool educational programs that the teens enjoyed, they had a lot of fun learning and was very interesting for adults too.
It's a smaller space port, but they do was great work here. If you're in the neighborhood definitely stop into the visitor's center. Very informative and fun.
Nice place to see where it all began. It is free and only takes a hour or so to tour.
Good stop for kids. Great overview of one of the longest running rocket programs in US.
Excellent facility. Clean, well staffed, plenty of informational exhibits relating to Wallops mission/goals. Admission is free and there is adequate, close parking. Location is convenient to other activities and attractions. Well stocked souvenir shop. When we went they had plenty of outside seating/tables if you wanted to take a lunch with you. Best place to view the rocket launches from Wallops.
Pleasantly surprised by variety of displays. Not a science geek but enjoyed the visit thoroughly and would definitely return.
Please be cautious and attentive to where you park when parking on the side of the road during crowded launch events. Several people got stuck during my last visit. Even if you have a truck, street tires aren't super grippy on slick grass or mud.
Great educational stop for all ages. Many activities for children, picnic area, lots of school packets for all school levels.
Great facility, quick visit suffices unless you want to see a launch in which case come early & stay long.
My kids and I love the interactive displays and educational opportunities. Great place to watch a rocket launch!
Excellent resources but dated. They are in the process of updating the exhibits. Looking forward to seeing it then.
interesting but very small center. it is free and easy access if on trip to chincoteague
Nice NASA center worth visiting if you're in the area.
A planned trip To take my grandson there for his birthday. This happened to be the same day the rocket was rescheduled to take off. But super busy but the museum open an hour and a half later. So we travelled into town. Not much there . Back to the museum and it was nice. Not as impressed as I thought it would be but the boy enjoyed it. Dover AFB museum is more hands on. Sorry NASA
never knew there was a NASA facility in Maryland. Great place to visit for Trekkie. ;)
Watched an Antares launch at night. Awesome! Arrived three hours before launch and parking was good but eventually did fill up. Viewing area was lit up so we could setup, launch control was playing and the rocket was across the marsh. At T-minus 10 the lights went out and the stars became brillant. At launch the sky lit up and the sound reached us about 30 seconds later. Watched through second stage flight before vehicle was no longer visible. A night I won't forget. Picked up a Wallops shirt from the museum.
Good visitors center, lots of displays, and hands on activities. Explains the mission and entertaining.
As much as I love space, I feel as though the exhibits here are lackluster. I feel as though they need to modernize the displays, broaden their scope beyond sounding rockets, and try to increase their focus on modern orbital operations. I understand their budget is severely limited, but it just feels subpar.
It's all about the sounding rockets. Bruce at the help desk was awesome.
Our family enjoyed the visitor center very much. A lot of great educational and informational exhibits on space. It's a wonderful experience for all ages alike. We especially enjoyed the one room that had a globe like movie presentation. It's hard to describe, but extremely cool. There is also an observation deck. Restrooms and gift shop on site.
It was ok if you are studious and liked to learn. Kids were 10 and bored. Nice clean facility plenty of places to sit if you need to get off your feet.
An everyday taste of NASA. Situated on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Wallops facilities stand as a testament to American space exploration and current services.
You can still witness launches to the ISS. One of the most recent launched rockets was a resupply flight.
In operation before President George HW Bush was stationed there briefly, at the start of WW II, until today;
Wallops stands out as jewel.
The observation space, provides a view across the water to the launch area. This is adjacent the visitor center.
Staff by a retired NASA volunteer, opens one to the world of manned and unmanned space exploration.
Very informative, professional, experienced NASA personnel!
Wallops flight facility has a wonderful gift shop. Be sure to check out the various NASA and Wallops selections.
Free access free parking.
This is definitely worth visiting! They do more here than I imagined!
Nice little visitor center with some indoor displays and a rocket garden made up of various sounding rockets outside. Decent gift shop.
A good spot to visit if you're exploring around the area
Pretty interesting static displays. Educational. Check out the gift shop.
Good for a short visit, not overly larger and some interesting informatin and exhibits, but a bit simple and old-fashioned.
Great place to visit with the kids, keeps their attention.
Very interesting, wish I could be here to view a launch!
Great place for an educational outing. Work with the center to earn a merit badge or launch model rockets. Great visitors ce get as well...excellent staff and experience!
A fun place to visit if you are vacationing in Chincoteague, and you will learn a thing or two too!
Besides hearing about sounding rockets, they explained about the balloons they launch as well.
My daughter's school had a field trip there. It wasn't anything that I imagined. Its free and self guided tour. It was boring in my opinion.
Modestly interesting, out of date videos, outside the mosqitos will get to you even in a stiff breeze
Very much about education and ideas...mostly aimed at big kids. Nice grounds, picnic here with aircraft flying very very low overhead...cool!
A good place to bring your kids to learn about the work that NASA does here at Wallops Flight Facility.
Everyone of the staff involved with the launch site was excellent. Great adventure
Went to watch a launch. Very crowded but worth it. Visitors center exhibits very interesting and informative. Staff quite helpful. Only complaint is the scarcity of portapotties for such a large crowd.
Maybe part of the reason I loved it was that I didn't know it was there until I was driving past it. Expecting nothing, I was pleasantly surprised. It is not on the scale of a Smithsonian, but it does have interesting information and exhibits for those who are science minded. Plus, if you plan ahead, you could watch a launch.
Really neat to see, watch and read about how development of rocketry. Not a huge place, but packed with displays.
Always a great time at the NASA space center with my Family!
This was a great stop! We got to see some rockets and they have scheduled activity times for kids. My son loves space so it was a great spot for him!
Took the full tour sponsored by DTCC. This was a "bucket list " check mark.
Very cool self guided tour. Props from old nasa missions. Observation deck. Pretty cool place.
Visitors Center across from runway to check out take offs and landing
Been there a few times it's a good learning experience but nothing changes
I only stayed there for thirty minutes and I was impressed. Tomorrow I will be attending a launch. FYI be there early to get parking
Very exciting to watch a rocket blast off with restocking supplies for the International Space Station.
Traffic was very heavy 4 + prior to launch. Parked at the Visitors Center. Plenty of lawn seating.
Came here to see the NGS-11 launch, great experience. I advice you to just hang out for at least one hour after a launch, otherwise you will just be stuck in traffic idling.
Great experience seeing an actual rocket launch to the International Space Station. Great visitor center, gift shop, and professional staff, especially considering it opened at 1230 am for a 440 am launch. They do a great job.
Pretty cool. Not a museum or anything but they have some cool stuff in the visitor center that is great for children and adults alike
This is a fun, educational, and free place to visit with lots of cool exhibits and hands on activities. It has a nice gift shop and a play area with blocks for kids. Staff was all very nice and helpful.
A small visitor center offering some insight into our space flight history. If your in the area it's worth a check in. It's small- and unless you're there for a launch- you'll likely only be there for about 30-40 mins.
It is currently under remodeling for new exhibits. Can't wait until they finish. The gift shop is cool.
