Very awesome place we took our child there during the big eclipse on 8-21-17 and it was so nice .. they gave us free glasses and info .. it was very very packed for the big eclipse but it was very nice and I thank them so much for the glasses (because everywhere else was sold out of glasses) and info we had a great time and will definitely be back!! by the way it's not that packed all the time only on special events

Cool place to learn about the rocket launches that NASA conducts there. A little dated, but fun place to visit especially if your kids are into STEM.

I love NASA and the mission that they serve for the United States and for the world. I've been lucky enough to meet with someone in NASA that gave me one of my most treasured possessions: a medallion formed of metal that went to, and returned, from the ISS.
My visit to Wallops underscored the diversity of the NASA mission and how NASA serves America and the global community in their specific mission. When I visited, they were just talking about supporting ISS missions which, given the above, was hellishly awesome.
BUT. There's not much to see here outside of a specific event (like a launching). The internal exhibit provides some great information, but it's also a lot of wasted space. This makes me sad because clearly the work that is done at Wallops and how it relates to the broader NASA mission is very important. I'm not sure how this relates to Artemis, but there's clearly a story to be told here about NASA and not just Wallops that is being missed here.
Let me know if you need help, NASA, on crafting this story. Your story tells itself, but it seems that you need some help to integrate it somewhat.

This is a wonderful place to visit! Our last visit, the roof observation deck was finally open. That's our only caveat with the center - there always seems to be one large wing or area that is constantly under construction. I'm sure it's going to be something spectacular when they get around to finishing things. In the interim, the exhibits detailing the history of the Wallops Island Flight Facility, MARS (Mid Atlantic Regional Spaceport), and even the naval air station that preceded it all, are nicely done and very informative. We especially appreciated all the detailed information on the large Antares rockets launched at MARS.

We surprised our 6 year old space lover with a stop here. She loved it and was talking about it for days after. We were all amazed at the cool things to see. Even picked up a few surprises for an upcoming birthday girl.

Awesome stop on our vacation day trip. We were staying at a campground about 45 minutes away but decided to take the scenic drive down to Chincoteague to visit this place, the Chincoteague Museum, the beach and we had lunch at Pico Taqueria, so we made it a whole day. The kids were excited to see big rockets on the way in and the interactive displays inside were a hit. There are big touchscreen devices that play videos of the various testing they do and the kids spent probably twenty minutes shuffling through them. We took pictures of all the kids behind cutout astronaut figures and fighter pilot figures and spent way more than necessary in the gift shop, but my 11 year old just had to have a necklace with a genuine chunk of meteorite, lol. We also picked up some patches and pins to add to our collections. I recommend taking the time to stop here and see what interests your family. We were disappointed that we would be leaving two days before they had a special event blasting off rockets but that would have been awesome.

It's a great place for information and watching rocket launches. If you go to see a rocket launch,. GO EARLY, VERY EARLY! Traffic gets backed up and parking is limited, even parking along the road. The launch is spectacular. Definitely go to see it!!

The NASA facility at Wallops Island has a small visitor center where you can learn about the missions that take place there. There are also family friendly exhibits about the space program and a great little gift shop.
