As far as NASA visitors centers go it's kind of small and the exhibits are OK. If you're just visiting to see a NASA facility on a whim then it's probably underwhelming.

But if you visit on a launch day then it's an altogether different experience. There's a lot of excitement in the air and the place is packed with fellow NASA fans. Expect a long line at the gift shop (but it's totally worth the wait to get your astronaut food).

I was there as a member of the media so I sat in on every briefing (the press auditorium is right inside the main entrance) so my experience may not be typical.

Outside (on a launch day) there were plenty of places to enjoy the launch from on the grounds but don't be surprised if parking gets a bit difficult. The atmosphere is a very electric one, especially as the launch gets closer.

Overall I had an amazing experience at the NASA Wallops Visitor Center but that was a launch day. If it's not a launch day don't expect it to compare to the big headline NASA centers (Like Kennedy or Johnson Space Centers).
