We drove along the coastal highway to experience the Bay Bridge & Tunnel and had not expected to discover a NASA facility. Had a great time learning about satellites and radar stations and rockets. This is about NASA's local history, not so much about astronomy.

Maybe NASA could use some taxpayer dollars to build more bleachers for optimal viewing!! I mean, they would probably incur a budget overrun, but at least the experience would be more enjoyable!
That being said, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Well worth the visit. Antares launches are absolutely haunting to watch, the sight and the sounds are indescribable, and do not translate to video.
Small visitor center. Definitely worth about 30 min when you are going to or from Chincoteague. Small gift shop. A few picnic tables. Opportunity to watch planes practice touch and go maneuvers at NASA facility across the street.
An interesting little stop we had not planned to make. I think giving this an hour is worth the time. A chance to learn some science and understand the work done with the program over time. Little kids may not be entertained for long, but our kids liked it.
How cool is Wallops? You can check out all sorts of NASA stuff, and even see real rocket launches from the center! Weather permitting, of course, but the best part is at the gift shop you can get official mission patches, which you can't always get anywhere else.
We went here after going to a disappointing Chincoteague. My family had so much fun here! Highly recommended if you're in the area! It would even be worth an hour or to drive! Especially if you're into any kind of flight or space exploration!
It's Free. The biggest attraction is rockets. Who doesn't like rockets? As for the amount of information an adult could spend an hour or more with the exhibits and videos. Kids under 12, maybe half and hour. It does have interactive displays and lots of information, but not digestible to the average child. A good stop if your heading back from the beach.
Aweinspiring! Its free and the volunteer who is a retired personnel of NASA gave me a tour and some insights of how nasa started, what has it achieved and some ideas on how nasa tried to make use of the military surplus or discarded rockets for NASA use.
They said this place have been forgotten by people, from what i understand, fewer people have come to visit this location compared years ago.
In here you can see a movie about NASA, the first experimental rocket nicknamed Tiamat and other rockets, space suites, miniature space station, moon rock, and so mich much more.
They also posted when is the next rocket lounch! Which is Feb. 9. Now that is my Valentines date!
Oh btw, i got a free 2020 NASA calendar! Woohooooo
Receptionist were awesome, very helpful and friendly! Highly recommended for everyone.
A mecca for space nerds of all ages. If you like space travel or rocket science this is a bucket list item. Nearby Assateague island is also quite beautiful.
Small but very educational visitors center about the flights that are launched from NASA Wallops Flight Center. Be careful - your GPS might lead you to the NASA Flight Center restricted base. If your honest about wanting the visitors center, they should give you directions. We saw some neat rockets. If there's a launch the day you visit you can watch from the visitors center. Great place for kids!
I wish there was more to the visitors center. What is there is great. The exhibits were good. Great place to take kids. I wish they had the budget to expand the visitor center.
Loved the place. We learned a lot about the space program. Very impressed with all work they do there. Wish we could have stayed for the Thursday morning rocket launch!
Awesome experience seeing an Antares rocket launch in person. You're a little far away at the visitor center's viewing area but it's a clear view to the launch pad and the sights and sounds are incredible. The visitor center is also really well done, very informative with a few exhibits and learning areas. Parking is pretty limited so you definitely want to get there early for a launch viewing, it gets pretty crowded.
Plenty to look at for those interested in rockets. Life size models, history, as well as a look into what goes on there, and a kid focused education center about rockets and space in general. Some of the displays didn't work though.
Much smaller than we were expecting. Some displays didn't function. It's a self guided tour. Mostly signage to read and displays to look at. It would be very boring for young kids. The gift shop was well stocked with t-shirts and toys.
Nice place to educate your kids and to see the history behind the site. It would be nice to see more in terms of displaying active rockets; give others a chance to see what the locals see regularly
We love this place. The little shop has great Nasa merchandise, and the kids like the projection show. There is a little less there then in past years likely do to federal budget cuts.
Great exhibits and a great view of the launches if you get there early. Wonderful displays with a lot of history and information. Great for school field trips.
Very interesting visitor center with many more upgrades promised for summer 2018. Free entry and some stuff for kids and great for adults too. It won't keep you occupied for too long, but a nice place to stop over
Fun little place to visit for anybody interested in NASA and space. The museum is free which is a nice treat. Stop by the gift store for astronaut ice cream.
We love NASA Wallops Island! We couldn't spend me as much time they as we usually do since we were on a tight schedule. But we enjoyed our brief visit.
