Ita a fun place to go have fun snowboarding or skiing. There is really good food. It's a nice place to relax. Great place to bring kids to have fun on the slopes. Also it has amazing lessons for begginer riders. The only problem is it's kind of expensive.

Really awesome place!! Love going here with family and friends to snowboard! Have been going here for the past 5 years and it feels like this place never gets old! Awesome rides and great place to even stay in lobby and cafe area!! Definitley would recommend everyone to come here!! Has a lot of space for parking and indoor space for people! Also you could rent yourself some skis or snowboards!

If you're an intermediate skier, there's plenty for you to do there. If you're expert there's Heathers Canyon. I am an advanced skier. If there's good snow, it's a fun day. But the runs are short and it's a small hill. I certainly wouldn't plan a ski vacation around it. It's more a locals place to ski.

This place is going downhill fast. The prices are ridiculous, the service is terrible, there never seems to be enough staff on hand... the parking lots are never full and yet they don t let people in... might consider getting a season pass to ski bowl instead next year...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, fresh snow awaits you at Mt Hood, road crews are keeping the roads clear, but still a little icy so drive safe, bring chains just in case.

Update:
After my first review about the bad experience with ski lesson, the ski school manager (Mark) contacted me and offered a private lesson to make up for the first time. Wonderful costumer service and great management.
Old post:
Beautiful resort, but they bumped up the prices a lot this year and lowered the quality of the services. After paying so much for the lessons and rentals we ended up being in a big group of people so the instructor didn't have time to actually tech you any techniques by supervising you directly. The instructor himself (John) was not good at teaching either and the huge group made it even worse.
If you have your own equipment and know how to ski you'll probably enjoy this place, although the passes are a little too expensive.
If you're a beginner be aware that the quality of their teaching lessons has lowered and the price has increased.

How can you beat meadows?? Please by all means dont come make the lines like timberline but it's worth the extra money by far!! Every Saturday and 2 week days you will see me 9AM!! Safe shredding!

I m a 3 year passholder now and almost everything has been awesome as usual. The staff is always amazing. The runs are great even though we ve had a less than desirable winter this season. The upgraded cell service is a MAJOR plus! I can now call and text almost anywhere on the mountain.
The only downside this year is the quality of the breakfast compared to last year. But that s not a huge issue. It still gets the job done.
Thanks MHM for being the best resort on Mount Hood!!!

Best terrain on Mount Hood - no matter the weather, you'll be able to find something memorable riding here. Their weak point is that there is no lodging on-site, but they otherwise have a full service lodge.

This resort is one of my favorites! The lifties are often very personable. People are pretty responsive to questions, issues, etc., and you can't help but feel like this is a family resort. Of every NW resort, Meadows has made me feel at home like no other. Highly recommend for both beginners and accomplished skiers/riders.

Great place to snowboard & ski. Mid mountain "lodge" is a great spot for a beer on a sunny day. My only complaint is that ski patrol is always sitting on the benches at the top of Cascade. Those are for snowboarders!

Pros

Pros
It's a great mountain to ski with a plethora of expert level terrain (Heather and Private Reserve) and lots of beginner and intermediate slopes.
Great beer selection and delicious food in the resort!
Occasional shuttle circulating the parking lot to pick you up from your car is awesome!

Cons
Unfortunately, taking 3 lift rides to get back to the top of Heather sucks. 2 lifts if you want to drop in halfway down Heather.
Parking fills up by 9 on weekends and weekdays when there's lots of fresh snow.
Staff is hit or miss. Either arrogant & rude or friendly...

The mountain was awesome.

The mountain was awesome.

Unfortunately the lodge sucked. Nowhere to comfortly sit for long periods. All they had was pub tables and cafeteria style lunch tables. It made it difficult to relax and take breaks. Also, a lot of people just leave their gear in the lodge unattended, instead of putting it in a locker or car. This obviously limits seating options as well.

Moral of the story: Don't come if you dont plan on riding the hill.

This is my home resort for snowboarding.. they have a great range of terrain for all abilities, and a good deal for the more experienced! Those of you with the skills to brave the steps and blind drops and outcroppings will live heather and Clark canyon, but truly the private reserve presents some of the most intense terrain..(get a trail map and study it) for those of you looking for a less intense more free flowing ride. Stick to the mountains left as you look uphill! There are plenty of long sloping runs all the way from the top at cascade Express to the base. My only complaint is that they have a lack of parking facilities, the restaurants and bars are full to a half hour wait by 12:00 noon so lunch early! They also tend to be understaffed as the years have gone by resulting in less runs being opened on pivotal epic days.. They could benefit greatly from a continued open mountain, perhaps with the opportunity to sign a waiver of liability... hint!!!! (If they read this)

Awesome terrain --- worst customer service imaginable. Lift operators, restaurant people, the management, the rental people ... all horrible.

BUT, awesome Instructors! Their instructors are incredible and they are out to make you have a good time and learn a great sport.

The rest of the people there ? Well, lets see, guy at the register screwed up our rentals and passes, it took 25 minutes for the manager to respond ... so we missed our class ... 1 person in our group was a complete newbie ... so yeah, 4 hours of driving, all for nothing, because the register guy is incompetent. Do we get even a hot chocolate for my buddy ? NOPE!!! How about an apology ? NOPE!!! Can we take a shorter class ? NOPE! Just come back another day after driving another 4 hours! Have great day guys!

Come back next time ... my wife is on her FIRST ever snowboarding lesson. 45 minutes into the class, her bindings break! She falls hard! We take the bindings back after the trip to the onsite doctor, expecting an apology ... what do we get ? A demand to pay $100 because we broke the binding! Are you kidding me?! Bindings don't have catastrophic failure ... its plastic! By nature, they break due to stress over time. Stress over time on the same place ... namely where people put pressure when leaning forward ... causes the plastic there to stretch, and as it stretches, the water gets in, freezes, pushes it apart. Repeat this over and over, and one day, the bindings will break! So anyway ... yeah, we paid $100 for my wife breaking her wrist because of their OLD CRAPPY RENTALS! Have a great day guys!

IF there was ANY other viable way of hitting the slope, trust me, I would NEVER USE THIS PLACE!

But there isnt, and since I own my gear, and pack a lunch ... I dont have to deal with this crap. And for that I am thankful!

Great ski area, pretty big and open till late. The lines weren't bad at all on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Easy access from Portland. Took the bus which is very convenient. There are lockers which can be accessed all day so I took some layers off midday cause it was warm. The food at the restaurant wasn't great but not bad either. The seating was limited at lunchtime. But overall excellent experience

Need to build more parking, need to have better mark green beginer trails. We went on a green trail and half way down it was blocked off and you can either go on black diamond or blue.. I would like to know that at the top before I start if I'm a beginer... not enough green trails for newbies, over all not bad though..

Don't even bother buying the "extra ski protection" when you rent from them, you are just giving them your money. I fell going down the mountain and the ski pole broke. I am a beginner and was using the equipment as correctly as I could. When I took the rentals back I was told the protection only covered damage to the skis, but anything broken wouldn't be covered. So I'm guessing maybe of you scratch the wax and they have to re-wax them. I was handled a paper that you would get if you bought everything that day. I did everything online and had never seen that paper. I bought everything online and went back and found nothing about the extra ski protection. It simply said equipment is rented without warranty unless extra protection is specified in the agreement. This agreement had nothing about the additional protection purchase, but it was charged at check-out. They ended up with $16 to replace a new ski pole. I would suggest something stronger than aluminum so they can hold up to a fall down the mountain for any level of skier. I also rented a helmet online, but they were so few left, I had to make due rather than actually have a helmet that fit.

Good selection of hills. There are a few hills that are hard to get to for snowboarders. Don't know if that can be fixed. Plenty of lift capacity. Both parking lots were full and the only way to get in was on the shuttle, yet we never waited more than a few minutes in line. Not so for the cheap food option. That line was almost 10 minutes long.

Probably the best ski space up on Mt. Hood with the largest amount of terrain and runs. The snow here can be good at times, can be bad at times, depends on the weather just like everywhere else. If you head to the back side (Shooting Star Express) there are plenty of Blue and Black runs and it is typically less busy than the front. On the weekends, try to get there when the parking lot opens at 8, otherwise you might end up in the second parking lot or even lower if it's very busy.

With the low elevation mountains and nothing better close, this is a great spot for the Portland and Hood River area snow people. I wish it was more entertaining as a resort like some of Lake Tahoe's ski resorts, but they do a good job.

This place is so great! Took ski lessons 2 days in a row and I'm hitting the slopes solo now with full confidence!! The food is so good & the ginger tumeric hot tea is perfect after a long day. You're sure to enjoy your experience!

Pros:

Pros:
Large mountain ski area
Lots of options for beginners
Great runs for snowboarding
There is a park and ride bus service from Portland
Rental gear is good quality

Cons:
Expensive lift tickets
Expensive lockers
Parking is crazy full on the weekend if you arrive after 9:30am
Lodge needs some renovating

It snowed some nice powder while I was there it was a really good time. I did fall and break my collarbone but that wasn t until the end of the day. There was a horrible smell in the lodge around 1pm like the septic backed up.

Probably the best one in Portland Metro area. More trails than timberline, just a little bit further. If you plan to come in the morning in Jan/Feb, come early. They close all parking lots around 9am to 10am. If you missed that, you have to wait until probably 12pm to 2pm to get inside with your own car.

This is my favorite place around. It's my first year with a season pass and I'll be buying another one next year for sure. Not a great idea to eat or hit the bar right around noon. Wait an hour or two and you should be able to get a seat. Funny thing about the snow tires/chains. You don't really need them. I don't have them, and I have horrible tires for snow. 19 trips to and from meadows, I've had a problem twice, I got stuck both times in the parking lot. The trip up/down the mountain is always clear, go figure.

This place is hell the employees (Security) Ready to get anyone in trouble including innocent people had friend go to Jail because someone offered him a free ticket for lifts and this seems to be their money making scheme or they purposely place people and set innocent people up BEWARE!
